I heart shabu shabu! i like that each person has their own burner. My fiancé and I have different techniques and it’s nice to just have your own pot! I live right around the corner so this place is perfect for me. It’s rarely ever busy, there has been a few rare times when theres a really loud group doing sake bombs, but I’m still a fan.

As mentioned previously by other reviewers, the female waitress is inattentive, unprofessional, extremely forgetful, and lacks any qualities an entry level waitress must possess. The other waiters(who were great) constantly had to jump in to correct her mistakes and attend to our table. I wish our tip went to them instead of to her. This restaurant is a lively, louder environment good for a group of 8 or less.

Shabu Shabu is always fun, cooking your own food at your own pace. This place is great, everything is fresh and tasty. Serving sizes are pretty generous, I somehow finish everything on my plates but at the same time almost burst at the seams from all the food! Service is ok here, you’re basically cooking your own food so there isn’t much of a need for excellent service. Defnitely not good for big groups. For instance that max i would bring here is 4 people, if you want to be able to interact. You can all sit on one table, down a line, or take 2 tables and face each other(but the tables are awkwardly spaced).

Food is good, but the service is amazing(in the wrong way). The girl helping us was bundled up in a parka for starters. Now, I am not that particular that that would normally bother me, however everything else about her was equally unimpressive. We were not greeted with even a hello, it was simply«are you ready?» followed by a blank stare. Luckily I was. Food came out and she left. Mind you, we had NO idea what to do with Shabu Shabu. We asked and she explained. As we were finishing, nothing much else was said… she just started grabbing our dishes. Mind you, we weren’t finished with some things. My tea was gone, my water next. The dish… etc etc. I didn’t really say anything only because I was full, and in awe of how impolite she was. Luckily, that is what tipping is for…

Happy Shabu Shabu, indeed. The overall experience was very good. I came here with a group of 10 people(5 couples) and we all ordered the all-you-can-eat option. It wasn’t the highest quality food, but the reasonable price($ 26 /person) reflects that and is well worth it, in my opinion. The service was okay. We had to remind them a few times to bring things over to us, hence the docking of one star. There was a large screen television where people were cheering on the Warriors. It added a bit to the atmosphere but in a good way(Warriors won at the buzzer that night). I’m normally not a fan of TVs in a restaurant, but whatever. Being in the heart of Japantown in a Saturday night was also quite fun. We walked to a karaōke bar after dinner. Despite us being there with all adults this place is family friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Happy Shabu Shanu again.

Just ate here while passing through town on tour. Had the seafood Shabu Shabu dinner. It was a decent assortment of veggies & seafood but some of the seafood was still frozen solid. Still tasty though and it cooked thoroughly in the broth. It also came with 3 dipping sauces, one being pretty spicy. No spicy broth choice though, just a plain miso. My biggest complaint is that there wasn’t any to go containers. I understand they have an, «all you can eat» option and probably don’t want people taking extra food to go. However, I didn’t get that and paid almost 30 dollars for my meal. I was pressed for time and had to be back at the Fillmore so had to leave all my soup packed with veggies & seafood behind. Quite a disappointment.

Shabu shabu is a blast. It’s interactive and fun! The waitress automatically assumed we wanted all you can eat and drink so we were pretty committed — would’ve been nice to ask but oh well, it was fun. I don’t care that much for the beef/pork because it’s kinda dry and flavorless but the chicken was good. Check in for the dumplings! They were my favorite, along with the noodles. Great deal for the AYCE&AYCD ~$ 40

I love this place! There are so many options, and the plates come loaded up, so it’s well worth the money and the time! My favorite shabu place in the city(mostly because their seafood option is AMAZING). Side note: I’ve been here multiple times, but it’s only been with 4 or less people, and everyone ordered separately, so I can’t comment on the rules they have for ordering«all you can eat». But if everyone is down to get their own thing, I’d definitely say it’s worth it(and it’s a ton of food anyway). The seating arrangement is sort of weird when there’s more than two people(you feel very far away from the rest of your group).

Came here with my friends for the all you can eat and drink menu. The individual hot pot is nice so you can flavor and tailor it for yourself but I personally prefer the shared hot pot. Shabu is a communal eating experience and its fun cooking the food with other people. The actual food itself is delicious and they have plenty of veggie, udon, and noodle options. However Its unfortunate that they only have one broth option and you can only choose either pork or beef. Definitely go with the beef, it cooks much faster and the slices are thinner. The all you can drink option is not worth it. My friends and I wanted to drink yogurt soju but we discovered too late that only beer and sake are included. The only cons are that the seating is incredibly awkward when you have a group. We had four people and were placed in a row all next to each other, so the two people at the ends could not talk at all without yelling over each other.

This place is whack. They have a rule where if anyone in your group orders the all you can eat and drink, everyone in your group has to order it. So I ended up paying $ 40 for a pretty weak bowl of veggies and miso broth. Too many rules. If you’re looking to get a nice dinner, too much forced alcy. If you’re lookin to have a good time on a Friday night, too many rules about loud music and other shenanigans. On the plus side, we did get kinda rowdy and they didn’t kick us out. So that was nice.

I love this place! All you can eat(or drink if you’re into it) for cheaper than most places($ 23 when I went). My favorite thing about Happy Shabu Shabu is that you get your own pot of broth. Service here is really good! The moment you finish a plate of meet, somebody will come around to ask you if you’d like another one. When the meat comes to your table, it’s not frozen solid, and that’s nice because you don’t have to put effort in to pry frozen slices apart. If you’re looking for a plan on Friday night, I’d recommend coming here, and then hitting up karaōke next door.

I like Shabu and this place doesn’t make me disappointed. Happy Shabu have ALLYOUCANEAT memu and it will come with choice of beef or pork, place of veggies, udon, glass noodles and tofu. The quality of beef is good and I like it. Pork is also good too. There have 3 sauce; samame sauce(normally I like sesame sauce hut not in this place), ponzu(which is soy sauce and vinegar) and spicy hotpot sauce. I like the design which have single pot for 1 person. So we all have our own pot. That’s great! Overall the price and the quality is great. You can eat AYCE in $ 25.99/ personn and when +tax will be $ 28.22 Only 1 thing that I gave 4 stars is the space under the table is too narrow. I am 5“7 and my leg is pretty long. So… yes my leg hit the table all the time that make me sore my butt very much lol

I believe the name is quite fitting. Things I was happy about: –Large servings –Attentive service –Individual shabu pots –3 types of tasty sauces to add to your broth –96 score for cleanliness –All you can eat options –All you can eat AND drink options — Later hours(open until 10pm on Sun-Thurs; and until 11pm on Fri & Sat) –Pricing I love me some shabu and thank GAWD this place didn’t make me Angry Shabu Shabu. It doesn’t seem like it gets too crowded despite being located in the busy Fillmore District. I had the choice to sit at the bar or at a table. Keep in mind that tables are much like communal tables and that it’s not as intimate, but still good, nonetheless. If it’s your birthday, you eat free with a party of 6 or more. They also are promoting a free order of dumplings upon Unilocal check-in. I’ll gladly return!

Happy Shabu Shabu will forever hold the BEST memories for me! When I went they had this awesome deal for $ 25 all you can eat and drink! It was super close to where I lived so it was great when I was short on money, hungry, and cold. They have different selections for meats, veggies, and broth. You can also choose sets, which is cheaper. If you choose the all you can eat and drink, everything is included and it is seriously non-stop. The server brings out plates and plates of meat and veggies and pitchers of beer. I always left the place incredibly full, just the right amount of drunk, and happy. The meat and veggies are fresh as well. Another bonus is that everyone gets their own pot and they offer three different dipping sauces! My favorite has and always will be the miso. I recommend!

Tremendous portions. I love meat and I’m swole as shit. I was thinking I was man enough to take on the all-you-can-eat, but glad I didn’t. I was fat and full by the end of this meat banquet. Like 8.5 months preggers about to birth a 12 pound baby full. I like how you don’t have to fuss with choosing types of broth, and you can add various broths and sauces as you please. The service was quite good considering it was one dude serving 2 full stations. I would be happy happy to return. A huge portion of meat and veggies will run you a slim $ 16.95.

We only came here because of a groupon and the fact that i LOVE shabu. There’s no option for broths so by default you get a miso broth. Sad that there’s no lamb but we ordered 2 beef shabu and a side of pork(which is one whole plate for $ 10). The beef has nice marbling and they give you a large amount. Sad that there’s no bowl of rice included and that the sesame sauce sucks. It tastes like bottled runny sesame instead of thick cold fresher tasting sesame sauce. I don’t think AYCE is worth it here and there are plenty of better quality places with more of a selection in the city but for what we got and paid, it was good. They should probably hire one more waiter to help bus tables/take orders. We watched one party come and go just because they were trying to order the the waiter was way too busy.

First time stop in here. Didnt wait as they had table tops available with your very own pot. Ordered the beef, comes with vegis and noodles. The sauces are ok, but not my favorite. and the tofu and vegis are just enough to satisfy the palet. The beef I ordered was a very good amount, and the cuts were very nice and thin. good quality beef considering it was not kobe. Service was good, TV screens to watch football, and decent atmosphere. nice!

As we were in search of a late dinner place in the hood, the sudden chilly wind made it clear that we would want some hot soup action over fried chicken at 1300. The restaurant wasn’t too crowded and we decided to sit at the bar as you’d still had to sit side by side at the tables which is kinda a lil odd. Menu includes al la carte or all you can eat beef, pork or seafood. We ordered 2x beef option. It came with ample veggies, tofu, noodles. Price was reasonable $ 16.99 per order. I liked the way they freshly cut the beef just before serving. They only had the miso as the soup base.(No spicy miso!) it was pretty okay and portions are quite big. Nothing great but reasonably priced with good ingredients. They should improve the taste of the soup and it will make a difference. Ah also please serve the draft beer cold! The greatest perk was the Unilocal deal $ 25 for $ 35. With this offer, 2x beef & two Sapporo pint came to $ 9.68 before tip. Pretty good deal, aye? Oh also don’t forget to check in for the free dumplings to dunk into your shabu shabu!
