Awesome sandwich for a great price. I’ve never quite has a sandwich like this… it’s not your standard sub, but give it a try! Cash only.

In my last review I said I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. After having come back over half a dozen times, I’ll change that. I would go out of my way to come here. Somehow, using the same ingredients as everyone else, they make their sandwiches amazing. And for the area, the price just can’t be beat.

I’m giving this place two stars based on their inflexibility on substituting things. Dont get me wrong, I love to support mom and pop businesses and this place makes very good sandwiches with reasonable price but they will charge me extra whenever I substitute something in the sandwich. All I wanted to order was a bagel with avocado that was not on the menu. I had thought they will just charge me 1.25 to add avocado on the bagel but that was not the case. The sandwhich should not cost no more than 2.75 max but they insist on charging me 3.50. I was not able to understand the logic behind on how they come up with the price so they had explained to me the justification was instead of giving me a cream cheese, tomatoes, avocado bagel sandwich that’s on the menu, they will just give me all avcados instead. Eh, that’s highway robbery. All i wanted was a bagel and then charge me the add on avocados and they couldn’t even charge me correctly for that. I was furious for the longest time after this happened but I end up going back again to give them another chance and hope they redeem themselves. This time I carefully decide to order a bagel sandwich they have on the menu instead of making up one my own. However this time I decided to not have cream cheese and add sprouts instead just to be on the healthier side but i can’t even do that without getting charged extra. They refuse to make an equal exchange on the sandwich and charge me $ 0.50 for this so called«extra» sprouts when I asked them to take out the cream cheese. SMH… I’m not coming back unless i am sticking with exactly whatever that’s on their menu… there’s no such thing as substitute or exchange without extra $ 0.50 charge on each request.

I’ve been coming to this place for the good part of 10 years and it is still an incredible value. The sandwiches aren’t as fancy as what you would get at Ike’s, but for under $ 6 they can’t be beat. You choose between your type of bread(get the dutch crunch!) and a deli meat. Bacon, avocado, and cheese can be had for an extra $ 1.25. The bread comes warm and toasted and the meats are piled high. The lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles are also fresh and crisp. The shop also has a selection of chips, candy, and drinks. So, you can get a full meal for under $ 10 and be very satisfied. For the financial district, this place is a hidden gem.

Lately all I’ve been eating are their bomb ass avo/cheese sandwiches(highly recommend). I love this place!

The first time I visited which was in a weekday around 12:15PM, my coworker and I waited a good 20 – 30 minutes before our take out order was ready. This place is truly a mom/pop owned deli. The dad takes the orders and is the cashier, the mom makes all the sandwiches. A 2 person operation. First time I ordered the salmon sandwich which was the smoked salmon you get with bagels & lox. I ordered it on a sourdough roll with all the fixings(tomato, onion, lettuce). The sandwich was just ok. Maybe I had higher expectations because my coworker was raving how good this place is. Not completely sold. I went there for lunch today for take out. This time I ordered the combo on Dutch Crunch. The combo has ham and salami, like an Italian. The bread was good as it provided enough crunch and chew. The meat was your standard deli style meet. The wait wasn’t nearly as long this time, maybe 10 minutes? The combo IMO is much better than the salmon sandwich. They definitely give you substance as this bad boy was pretty hefty! Glad I went back and tried them again. I would come back and try another sandwich as they have different kinds to choose from. If you go during lunch time, either go early or phone it in.

I never write reviews, but I had to for Good Luck. They’re right across from my office and I go there often. I only found it because of Unilocal, since the place doesn’t look like anything special from the outside. But they are super friendly and make amazing, simple, classic sandwiches for around $ 6. Cheap, tasty, and fast. Love this place! Stop reading and just go!

Pretty good sandwiches however its a small store and maybe two workers in there so it may take awhile to get your sandwiches especially when there’s a long line. There is some seating area, 2 – 3 small tables I believe, however it is usually taken during lunch hours since it is a small store and pretty popular. I recommend getting the chicken salad sandwich with the Dutch crunch bread! I have also tried the egg salad sandwich and the chicken avocado I believe? However I think the chicken salad is the best. Definitely worth a try especially if you work nearby!

Delicious sandwiches under $ 6 Cash only The couple that run this place is super sweet. Tried the turkey avocado and the chicken salad on Dutch crunch and loved them :) I discovered this place randomly when playing ESCAPESF across the street — which, by the way, DOIT.

It was a block away from the church a friend was getting married at. It wasn’t bad, but it definitely was not a super quality sandwich I’d pay 8 – 10 dollars for.

This place is a nice mom and pop place near chinatown and the financial district. This place is cash only but it’s worth it. I got the combination(salami, ham, and turkey) with bacon on dutch crunch. The sandwich was huge! It was tasty and reason was very reasonable. My buddy got the roast beef avacado on chabatta. He loved it. I’m definitely coming back here.

Don’t be fooled by the fact that it looks like a grimy, barebones drug front of a deli. This place is the real deal. If you like sandwiches(and I assume you do, as a human), they will make you a sandwich. I walked in expecting to choose from a list of specialty combos, but that’s not their style. This is the kind of place where you pick your type of sandwich, and tell them everything you want. Me? I wanted a turkey sandwich, with bacon, avocado, pepperjack, mayo, mustard, and pickles. On Dutch Crunch, because I’m not a psycho. The nice little Chinese couple gets back behind the counter, they build that sandwich for you, and they build it right. It’s going to take a little time, but be patient, because what you’re going to get is the best deli sandwich I’ve found in SF.

A friend who knew I liked Unagi(Eel) told me about a sandwich place near where he worked that serves an Unagi sandwich. I love Unagi so naturally I went here to check it out. It was good but the next time I order it’s going to be without mustard. Service was fairly quick and friendly.

Looking for a delicious sandwich in the FiDi area that is filling and under $ 10? Look no further than Good Luck Café and Deli. Don’t let the exterior fool you, because this place makes one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in the city. Owned by a sweet older couple, this place sells classic deli sandwiches, breakfast foods, and snack products. I got the turkey and avocado with the everything on it(mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles) on dutch crunch. ITISSOGOOD. I can’t stress enough on how good this sandwich is. I’ve been meaning to try the chicken salad sandwich here but because the turkey avocado combination is so good, I keep wanting to come back here to only eat that. As many of the other Unilocalers have stated, the portion sizes here are huge. However, unlike many of them, I don’t have self control. So I finish the whole sandwich in one sitting and beat myself over how full I am. But our stomach is a muscle and its made to expand anyways, right? Big portions, big flavors, for a small price. What’s not to love? And cash only!

My first time was last week. Ever since then, I’ve been thinking about the tomato, avocado and cream cheese bagel(7am-11am). The layers of avocados, the perfectly salt/peppered tomatoes, the thin and not overbearing layer of cream cheese on that crispy toasted bagel. Drool. I’m not a morning person and it’s hard for me to eat before 11am(which is why weekend brunch is perfect!), usually because I’m not hungry yet. BUTGLCD’s breakfast bagel makes me want to starve myself the night before so I would have an appetite for it in the morning on my way in to the office. This morning, I went back again because I literally could not wait any longer. I noticed that most of the people who walked in during my short 5 minutes in the store were regulars. The couple running the store knew each of their orders as they walked in, «the usual?» So, I know it’s 3 weeks into the new year already, but I’m going to add one more to my 2015 resolution list: become a regular at Good Luck Café and Deli. The honor will be mine!

Whilst on a self guided tour of DTSF my stomach started grumbling loud. Time to eat kids I told ‘em. We were hungry and we needed some good luck. I Unilocaled and wouldn’t you know right around the corner from the Chinese park sits this hole in the wall of a marvelous sandwich shop. The option of Dutch Crunch bread caught my eye while looking at the many favorable Unilocal reviews and pics. CHEAP Too! Sammy’s seemed too good to be true. Probably the best deal I found in SF after SF’s Finest let me slide on a parking violation. But I was soon proved wrong! I had a turkey avocado on Dutch crunch bread. It was awesome! Not stingy with the meat or avocado’s. The regular stuff of tomatoes, pickles, onions, cheese, lettuce all neatly placed only made this one better! Outstanding! 5*****Stars! Daughter had Turkey on sourdough others had a PBJ and another Sammy??. The locals were getting everything from a bowl of cereal, to sammy’s, to ramen packs cooked to order, Lots to choose from at this tiny shack.
The Mom & Pop running this great storefront were so accommodating and sweet it was hard not for me to call ‘em mom & dad. Only wish my folks made sammys so tasty. While not the most hygienic joint, the food picks up where the cleaners left off. Cash only. GREAT sammys! GREAT Service! I’ll be back!
