SF Parks and Rec Description: «Look for the ‘rainbow’-brightly painted bricks provide a backdrop to this inviting green plaza in the Fillmore District. Enjoy lunch al fresco at one of the picnic tables, surrounded by ornate shrubs and flowers.» I like the fact that this is a focal point of the neighborhood for a lot of people. The folks who frequent the park seem to know each other, and seem to have a great time visiting and laughing. And, as the description said, if you’re heading for a walk over to The Fillmore at lunch, it’s actually ideally located for a little al fresco lunch. I’ve seen no real drama here, and I’ve met some interesting people. The rub: For a park this small(about the size of one lot), the day-drinking is a little too obvious. There is also very little balance between it being a spot to sit and chill vs. being a park where you might go if you were a kid. It’s kind of an adult park. Is it awful and seedy? No. Not to mention, the Northern District Police Station is right across the street. And, let’s face it, I don’t read a lot of reviews about how awful Delores Park is because it’s filled with hipster day-drinkers. But, I just can’t help but feel that the place could be improved upon, especially as this stretch of Fillmore develops into more.
