We walking along and were of course drawn in by the shiny, metal, spacey tube of a truck selling hotdogs and sandwiches in the Castro. I was also wondering how the employees don’t roast themselves on warm days. My fiancé got a pulled pork sandwich(my bite was delicious) and I got a hotdog with a wasabi slaw. I love Asian fusion food, but somehow I didn’t like this as much. I’m not sure that it worked very well together, for me at least. However, their herbed fried potatoes are wonderful! I could have eaten just a plate of those.

Happy Leap Day! I’ve only had their deep fried mac n cheese($ 6) so far. OMG! This is sooo good! A bit pricey and I’m pretty sure I can make this myself. But… I’ll be honest, I’m just too lazy! Definitely will be back for more!

While at the Thursday night edition of Off the Grid(Upper Haight), Eat Curbside was one of the food trucks serving up grub. I had heard about Eat Curbside before(via Unilocal and other food truck gathering sites), so I recognized the name instantly. I like that they operate out of a retro looking trailer — a cool touch that makes them stand out and be unique. Eat Curbside was one of the trucks we got food from, and we went for the Shoyu Pork Sandwich and chose potatoes/fries for the side. The Pork Sandwich was pretty darn good — especially for coming out of a truck! I don’t know that the combination of ingredients was necessarily my favorite, but the ingredients were all very fresh. The pork was also very tender and tasty. Lastly, I LOVED their fries. Great texture, fried perfectly, healthier tasting, and the seasoning tasted great. I hate when potatoes are under seasoned!

SHOYUPORKSLIDERSORBUST Pretty much my motto during the Treasure Island Music Fest weekend. I usually don’t like to eat the same thing from food trucks if there are other options available that I haven’t tried, but these damn delicious pork sliders left such a tasty impression on day 1 that I had to come back for more the very next day. It’s just too bad Eat Curbside’s consistency was off since the pickled veggies were hardly picked at all the second day, and I nearly cried because those sliders definitely needed that extra kick of acid. So don’t you go cutting any corners, EC! I NOTICED. I’m pretty sure I tried some sort of grilled cheese sliders at the fest as well, but they were(obviously) rather forgettable. Slider buns are no replacement for sliced bread when it comes to a good grilled cheese. Their fries are fine(though tastes commercially produced), as is their salad(a bit underdressed) — I do appreciate having the choice while eating curbside. :)

These guys were hired by my place of work to cater lunch alongside with some other food trucks. By the time we made our way over, they ran out of their ahi sliders, so instead we got their chicken sliders. Topped with a coleslaw, the sliders were just okay. The meat was moist, but it was a watery moist(my guess is from the coleslaw). It was accompanied by freshly cut fries that were apparently cooked in the same oil as the fish… Weird, right? I kind of wish I got to try the ahi sliders because maybe they would have been better.

The food is a bit too simple for a gourmet food truck but it’s cooked well with quality ingredients. The menu for the evening included ahi sliders, grilled cheese, P.B.L.T. I didn’t sense any particular theme to the food, other than sandwiches with the occasional Asian influence. I liked the portion size(filling enough for a meal) and value. * Curbside Dog($ 7): all beef hot dog with kimchee and yuzu aioli. The soft bun was toasted, the kimchi wasn’t too wet and the sausage was fine, but overall something seemed to be lacking or too simple. The garlic fries were thin, slighty crispy on the outside, skin on. * Shoyu pork sandwich($ 10): a warm, toasted, soft bun(would prefer it to be chewier), hearty, tender pork braised in a nice soy ginger marinade with sweetness(not too salty or too sweet), pickled cucumbers and carrot shreds for crunch and acidity, and yuzu aioli. I didn’t taste the yuzu. It came with a simple green salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

Eat Curbside has been another food truck that’s been on my list of things to try for a while now. I finally got to try them when I went to Off The Grid Upper Haight for the first time. If there was one thing I remembered to get, it was their Ahi Tuna Sliders since people on Unilocal have said good things about it. When I go them, I was pretty impressed by their presentation( ). They looked pretty and tasted just as good as they looked. They are a little pricey at $ 9, but they do come with Fries so that’s a plus. Next time I head over to OTG Upper Haight, I have to remind myself to first stop by at Eat Curbside if I ever want to get the chance to try their Fried Mac N Cheese. They look very appetizing! So far, I like what I’ve seen from Ear Curbside and hope that their other menu items are just as enjoyable as their Ahi Sliders.

Finally got to try this truck after seeing it become a staple of off the grids for awhile. Tried the Ahi Tuna sliders. They did well by the sliders which had nice sear on the Tuna and a refreshing wasabi aioli type of sauce. The fries were nice and crisped to the point I had to defend it against my friends prying hands after trying one. This is a good off the grid truck pick worth a visit to try the sliders w/fries.

I accidentally found their food truck off Octavia and Hayes neighborhood. It was interesting food truck(trailer) and is hard to miss from other common food trucks out there. Very friendly staff and helpful. I got the Ahi slider with fries and was very impress with the crispy potato fried to perfection. The Ahi was decent with a nice fresh cabbage slaw and wasibi aioli on a baguette. I also end-up ordering my dinner here with the P.L.T. The Pancetta with egg & baby greens on a muffin(Bays??) was a very good combination of flavors, salty and crispy Pancetta and with the soft egg yolk running was delicious!

3.5 Stars I was so excited to see this truck at Alice’s Summerthing 2011! I opted for the Pulled Pork Sand Soy Ginger braised Pork w/Yuzu mayo and Pickkled Cucumber Salad — Unfortunately, it didn’t look like everything blended well together. It was alright but nothing spectacular. I didn’t even finish it. My friend ordered Curbside Dawg — without any toppings so it was basically a hot dog. =/It still cost her the same. =[ I would mind coming back and trying their signature dish Curbside Dawg but no more pull pork sand for me.

The fried macaroni and cheese cubes were deathly good. The crusted breadcrumbs were perfectly fried golden brown. The inside was filled pipping hot with macaroni, gooey cheese, and of course bacon bits. You get three decently sized cubes for $ 6. They rank as some of the best macaroni and cheese I’ve ever had.

The BEST Ahi Tuna Sliders Ever! Now that Off The Grid makes an appearance four times a week within walking distance from the office, it’s becoming lethal for my health, not to mention my wallet. I’ve seen Eat Curbside at the various OTG events and sitting at the corner of Market/Castro Streets but never had the urge to try it as I had no idea what their concept was. Unlike their competitors, they have no info on their website and they have no FB page. However, after reading rave reviews on Unilocal about their Ahi Sliders, I knew I had to try it. On Thursday, 6.9.11, my co-worker and I came to OTG — UN Plaza at around noon. There was a small line at Eat Curbside but it moved fairly quickly. The simple menu had four items: Ahi Sliders($ 8), Curbside Dog($ 7), Grilled Cheese($ 7) and a Steak Sandwich($ 9). Each sandwich comes with a choice of salad or fries. It took just 3 minutes to place my order with the nice cashier and my order was ready in about 5 minutes. AHITUNASLIDERS w/Sesame Slaw & Wasabi Aioli($ 8)
Inside the two mini toasted buns were huge chunks of ahi perfectly seared rare and generously topped with slaw and a gentle smearing of wasabi aioli. The buns were crisp around the edges and fluffy soft inside; they held the abundance of ingredients together very well. The ahi was fresh, soft and succulent, though I didn’t care too much for the Cajun seasoning as it slightly overpowered the delicateness of the fish. The tangy and crunchy sesame slaw was a nice texture contrast to the soft ahi and added a bright freshness to the sliders. The wasabi aioli added that much needed gentle kick to the sinuses. These sliders are way better than the much-hyped Ahi Sandwich from Taylor’s Refresher’s which is now Gott’s Roadside. The side salad was just mixed greens with balsamic-type vinaigrette; very ordinary so if you’re not watching your calories, definitely go for the fries! The fries were more like potato wedges but they look to be double-fried as the exterior looked super crunchy. Although Eat Curbside lacks an apparent concept to its consumers, the food is solid compared to many other food trucks out there. This goes to prove that marketing isn’t always needed as Eat Curbside’s food speaks for itself.

YUM! They were at Off The Grid: McCoppin and I fell in love with their Pork Sandwich and Fries. The sandwich was flavorful with yuzu mayo, pickled veggies, a toasted bun and tender delicious pork. The fries were amazing, BTW! They were crispy, and more like large chips or wedges vs traditional fries. They were perfectly salted and hot… I’m definitely a fan, and most likely will try and follow them around to their next destination and try more of what they offer.

This place felt like Lime opened in a trailer park and only served their small bites, no mojitos. Nothing I had wowed me. The grilled cheese and fries are 2 star worthy, but the short rib slider was a solid 3 star so it carried my overall rating. Definitely not crazy-line-around-the-block-worthy like some other street food around town nowadays. Grilled Cheese: The cheese didn’t do a good job of binding the two slices of bread together, a sign of not enough cheese. The bread was ok and of modest thickness, but it felt like too much blandness in comparison to the pithy cheese. Fries: More like potato wedges. That means more mushy potato and less crispy outside goodness. Doesn’t pair well with the light sandwiches, in my humble opinion, is better suited against lots of rotisserie meat. Short Rib Sliders: The short rib was in a form like pulled pork instead of the grilled kalbi style or whole chunk French style. The meat came in small portions on each slider, which kind of works since they are so rich. Wasn’t a fan of the creamy horseradish sauce since it threatened to overpower the short rib if you didn’t wipe off the glob almost the same size as the meat.

Aside from OTG in SF, this food truck/cart is one the hardest places to find. I stumbled upon Curbside outside of in Brisbane. I ordered a combo: 1 ahi tuna slider, 1 short rib slider, and fries. Garlic fries upon request, the lady did not even charge me extra, woot! The short rib was too meaty chewy for me, in all fairness, the lady who took my order did warn me about the meatiness. The next time I find this food truck, I’m just going to get all ahi tuna sliders. So mouthwatering, melted with every bite, and the small buns were so soft, not soggy. drools…

Ahi tuna sliders = YUMME! How do they do it? How does that shiny bullet of a food truck turn out such delicious sandwiches, such perfectly«fluffy in the middle but crispy on the outside and not filled with oil» garlic wedge fries? Somebody please tell me! The lady taking my order was so kind to offer giving me one of each of the ahi tuna and short rib when I asked how many sliders came with an order. Like she knew exactly what I was thinking! Extra star just for that. I liked the short rib, but should have eaten that first as the juices made the bottom of the bun a bit soggy. The flavor was very good. The ahi tuna was seared perfectly and I loved the kick of the jalapenos and wasabi aioli with the slaw on top. Buns were also nicely toasted. And the fries!(lips quivering) Looking forward to my next visit to Eat Curbside.

Some solid grub coming out of this shiny silver twinkie-shaped trailer. Everything I’ve tried from this food truck has been pretty darn delicious. Ahi tuna sliders with wasabi aioli, short rib sliders with horseradish aioli, and fried mac n’ cheese with bacon! Sliders come with a choice of salad or fries and I’ve always opted for the fries which are crispy and tasty. The sliders are pretty petite and if you are looking for one that will fill you up a little bit more I’d suggest the short rib ones. The fried mac n’ cheese comes in threes, is well-breaded, and is about the size of a large dinner roll with steaming melted cheese and pasta inside. I will gladly eat curbside with these guys anytime!

Our bellies were just about stuffed at Off The Grid: Fort Mason Center last night when we strolled past Eat Curbside. Sans shiny metal ginormous truck, their booth is easy to miss among the trucks/stands with decked out catchy signs and décor. Hard to miss however, are the words: AHITUNASLIDERS. Backpedal. Say what?! $ 3.50 each for lightly seared and sliced tuna, topped with wasabi aioli and sesame slaw, all on a toasted bun. Dee-friggin-licious. Take note: If you’re not a fan of the spicy, watch out for the couple slices of chilies on top of the slaw. I was a sad camper for a second there. The former chef of Chairman Bao has a winner here with Eat Curbside. Whatever they have on the menu is a must try!

Eat Curbside debuted last month, the trailer is operated by the former chef(Eric) of the Chairman Bao food truck. Find this cool looking silver trailer on the regular rotation of vendors at OTG locations.
The ahi tuna slider with wasabi aioli and a sesame slaw was very popular at the OTG: FMC. Today on the menu: Angus beef burger($ 9), garlic fries($ 5), beet salad with chevre croquettes($ 6), and a grilled cheese sandwich($ 8) with brie, capicola(aka. coppa) & sun-dried tomato pesto. Drinks $ 1. EC’s shiny silver truck is turning heads around the city. One evening I saw a TV crew filming them at OTG Upper Haight. Get location updates via Twitter or Facebook. ** Update for 2013: seems like Eat Curbside no longer roams the streets. No online updates either.
