I went to this place a couple times when they were just opening. They had some guy trying to install the window blinds because this location got alot of sunshine. I commented to the owner that I liked this place but unless i’m on my motorcycle parking is very difficult. He then commented that I could just double park on the other side of 19th Avenue. I was like… this guy is funny. So I said that wasn’t a good idea to block Irving Street by the gas station. Then he said, «no, just double park on 18th Avenue». That was the last time I went to that café. The guy was clueless.

3.5 DRINK: 1.) Columbian drip coffee — Nice. It’s strong. SERVICE: Free wifi. Woot. ATMOSPHERE: Plenty of outlets and seating, bathroom in back. Simple and basic.

Sign at front says«closed for remodeling» Uncluttered and ambient interior advertising local artists. Excellent coffee, fresh pastries. Friendly and dedicated people, the owner is here 16hr/day so give him a thank you and a smile for bringing such a great coffee shop to this neighborhood

Drip was a very solid café and was very much beloved and welcomed by many, including myself. I know that I’m not the only former patron who feels this way, as I personally know several other folks who loved this place as much as I did, and the bulk of the reviews are affirming as well. While the coffee fare was delicious and the outlets and tables were aplenty(a godsend for a grad student/frequent laptop camper like myself), what ultimately leaves an impression will be the kindness from the folks(and especially the quirkly owner, in particular) who served up this establishment to me. While it’s none of my business as to what issues they’re/he is currently facing, I do hope that what little minute speckle of positivity this review does contribute in general translates to well-wishes for everything to pan out okay. I drove away with a heavy heart when I saw it being boarded up by newspapers this past weekend. I’m waiting with bated breath for hopefully a return, but if Drip’s time has to be tragically cut short like this, I hate to see it leave with so many foul, one-star reviews at the end. So, here’s another one from me — for the road, if need be. Still and always five stars in my book.

Wow this place went downhill fast! I was so happy to have a decent coffee Shop in the hood– what a disappointment! I thought something was up when it was closed at 9am the other day… What kind of coffee shop is closed at 9am ever? This place has just gotten filthier and shadier as time has gone on. Last time I stopped in, the place reeked like a teenage boys bedroom, and there was a pair of fingernail scissors on a coffee table. What’s with the nasty goodwill couches, serious hobo presence, and crazy extension cords? Why are you making me go to Starbucks?!

Negatives: Guy behind the counter is totally hung over/wasted — even told me he fell several times on his bike the night before from smoking & drinking too much. Was wearing a super worn(read: serious holes) pair of pajamas & sunglasses — not so pro, buddy. In an attempt to pass a pen to me he threw it at me so I could write my sandwich order down(apologized, but he was not remotely sincere. Several other people got their coffee before my girlfriend & I realized he’d forgotten ours. Took nearly half an hour for two sandwiches to be made. And they arrived before the coffee(took 2 reminders…). Coffee, even drip, shouldn’t take that long. wtf. Positives: Not crowded, open floor plan, pretty laid back. Sandwiches are not pricey, pretty yummy. Music is varied, lounge-y, and not too loud. Desert selection is pretty sweet, too.

I’ve had Sightglass Coffee, and I’ve had better. To me, it was like Ritual, laced with vinegar. Until I tried a latte from Drip. It was one of the better latte’s I’ve ever had. Rich and strong at the same time. The service is very friendly, not too crowded. The surroundings have an industrial feel, but still comfortable. I’m usually around Irving most days, but not usually this far in. I might have to make it a regular stop when the cravings for coffee are calling.

This is a surprisingly well thought out café that is more than welcome to this area. Outlets are plentiful and table space is as well. I can’t say what it’s like on the weekends, but during the week, I haven’t had a problem finding seating or an outlet for my laptop charger. The coffee menu is simple and all the coffee is from SIGHTGLASS. They have different selection of coffee beans to choose from for drip coffee. They have many pastry items displayed for sale and also can custom make sandwiches. I overheard a customer order a pastrami sandwich, but when the owner found out they had run out, he gave him the sandwich on the house. That’s great service!

Love it! It’s a nice space, with plenty of fresh and natural light, as well as outlets. I also love how I wanted a sando, and although the owner did not have the bread that I wanted or tomatoes, he gave it to me gratis. I really appreciate that kind of service, because if I ended up paying and not liking it, this place would have been dinged on the stars and review. All he had was rye bread, which I do not like, but I ate it to keep the fuel in me. But I’m happy I didn’t have to pay for something I didn’t want. The coffee here is strong. Good pastries. I wish they had more seating options, as people stay FOREVER. We need more café’s in this part of sunset! Will definitely return, provided there is space for me. Thanks!

It’s nice to see a good quality coffee joint in the midst of the milk tea joints of Irving Street. Sightglass coffee is a local favorite of mine and Drip Coffee Bar serves nothing but Sightglass. The space itself felt a bit overwhelming. It’s more cavernous than cozy and didn’t appear to be a good use of space. However, the free wifi will surely keep people hanging out for hours on end.

I like this new place! — Free wifi — quiet — best size table for studying — many outlet plugs — reasonable price — nice customer service — clean — good BGM(not too loud) Recommend this place!

I’m giving Drip 5 stars because they’ve slowly filled the american food void west of 19th avenue. Now if we could just someone to open a real burger joint further down irving… The chocolate covered macaroon I had was moist and delicious. The latte I had was strong and had a cute little heart shaped foam on top. Free wifi, power outlets and lots of room to stretch out. What more can you ask for at 19th and Irving where only Starbucks(blech) exists? (and screw the 1 star reviews, this place is absolutely fantastic). THANKYOU for coming to my hood!

No, Drip Coffee Bar is not the original Sightglass in SOMA. It does not hold a giant high-ceiling space resembling more of a gallery with its sparse chairs than a WIFI-enabled invitation to laptopers to station for the next 4.5 hours. Its baristas don’t wear skinny jeans and its patrons don’t wear skinny jeans. But the drip coffee is equally good, at a reasonable price of $ 2.5. Its clean and open space with minimal décor probably fits better with its unpretentious neighborhood. It does invite patrons with laptops and textbooks, so come early.

Hi there, Drip. I like you. In fact, I was seriously considering writing you a love letter the first time I came in, not even a week after your soft open, and curled up on the bench next to the muffin displays. And I did! I didn’t post it that night though; I waited until I had the opportunity to drop by a couple times… so here’s my write up. How could I not like you?! Your baristas who believe in conversation and education for how to make a good cuppa coffee; who will speak with you and help you determine exactly what you want to drink, and which snacks are delicious. I was unimaginative; I had a white tea since it was late and I wanted to avoid caffeine so I’d have a better chance at sleeping that night. My friend who came with me let me have a sip of your cappuccino and I was an instant convert. My next coffee-request was a latte. Never did I think that I would find a café in walking distance of my apartment that could make me as happy as Blue Bottle or Four Barrel; and I am SOHAPPY you’ve proven me wrong. In addition to good coffee, your snacks and pastries are delicious! And the plugs; as a laptop camper there is nothing that warms my soul as much as seeing available plugs next to pretty much every table, along with that adorable little post-it on the back of the espresso machine promising me access to the internet for as long as my pretty little behind is camped out in your establishment. And did I mention the plugs? Soooo many outlets, I’m still amazed by it. And the music; jazz, and admittedly more hipster-y songs that just put me in that perfect mindset for getting things done. So therefore, I give you: 5 Stars for Service 5 Stars for Pastries 5 Stars for Coffee [please don’t decline in quality, I may suffer a breakdown if that happens] 5 Stars for Ambiance/Music/Outlet Availability :)

Laptop camper here. Drip Coffee Bar offers plenty of space, relaxing jazz music, free wi-fi and outlets for laptop camping. The coffee is pretty good too(Sightglass). They didn’t have much food other than pastries from Sweet Things and bagels. The layout is open and uncluttered with wood counters and wood chairs, sparse looking. * Latte($ 3.50): one size and it’s small. I didn’t like the way it was made, too thick. It was sour and bitter. There was an attempt at foam art but it didn’t impress. The best latte on Irving St. is still Hollow’s. * Sour cream poppyseed cake: Slice was really thin, cake was moist and very sweet I was still caffeine deprived and hungry after my visit… hope they increase the size of the drinks. You know you love me. X0X0, laptop camper.

Drip Bar is where its happening. As I walked in, the gentleman at the counter greeted me and asked me how my day was. Casual conversation; not too pushy and anticipated my order. So I’m thinking, Drip Coffee Bar eh, let’s try out the drip. Melitta style Columbian was the ticket, light and great for a morning coffee, I definitely as wired. Even though the cup was great, it was a tad shy of a perfect serving so I had to get another cup. This time the young lady at the counter made my cup and something she did, it made the brew slightly stronger(which I like) and I was fired up ready to study away. 2 hours in, I finished my homework and I was off. The place is clean, FREEWIFI and outlets for your notebooks, I picked a perfect day to check it out since it was quiet. The windows invited in every ray on sunlight, it was great! =) Drip Coffee Bar is good in my book! Thanks you guys! Hope to see you guys again soon!!!

Drip Coffee Bar offers drip coffee made while you wait but i was on the meter so i grabbed an expresso instead.(no time to wait). perused the pastries and the nice comfy ambience of the setup but no time to soak it all in. had to beat the meter. drink: expresso(sightglass, owl’s howl)2.50 –pretty strong stuff. –drip coffee probably would have been better. coffee drips: –sightglass, enough said. –great customer service.

Although I’m going to miss iCafe, I’m very happy for having this new coffee establishment. First off I would like to say I’m pretty satisfied with the wifi here, it’s pretty fast! The ambiance is pretty simple and the café itself is very spacious. It is also really clean and well lit. I’m not really knowledgeable about coffee but I’m pretty sure it’s safe for me to say their coffee is good. The coffee is strong, maybe too strong for me(I’m really sensitive to caffeine) but of course that is just me. I will still definitely come back here when I need come caffeine in my system. The workers here are also very friendly. I highly recommend this place for students or those who just like sitting inside a coffee shop doing work and etc. I don’t know when they open but they told me that they close at 10PM everyday.

Being from St. Louis, I am spoiled on amazing local, friendly businesses that are interested in creating a new community rathnner than just making money. While visiting San Francisco, I found a piece of home with this place. They had the telltale signs of a brand new business in terms of overall feel; the newish local artwork on the walls, and the clean-cut atmosphere and clientele of a budding coffeeshop. Give them a couple of years and you’ll get a thriving community sucking down coffee by the gallon, and hosting their own community events. My faith with this place is a core belief that coffee shops are America’s public forums. To the nitty gritty, their signature product, delicious: drip coffee, is an amazing thing to watch as it is prepared. If you’ve been to a Intelligensia Coffee before, you know what I mean. Drip elevates your daily cup of joe without the snootiness generally associated with Intelligensia. Drip is simply good, locally-roasted coffe prepared expertly. It just so happens that both coffee minimalists and coffee snobs can enjoy this place. I understand this place is near SFSU, and I suggest those who love to study and sip on coffee to visit this place. The staff/owners were extremely friendly to a guy simply wanting to have a cup of coffee. I received amazing product with a smile. You can’t beat that! My next visit to SF will include a visit to Drip. Connecting to a good local business is like a friendship; Drip aims to make that personal connection with every person that walks through their door. I wish them luck.

Wife and I stopped in yesterday as we were walking the Irving shopping district. The place is clean, well-lit and very comfortable. The two proprietors were friendly, knowledgable about their drink offerings, and happy to chat about their business and the neighborhood. My wife ordered an iced herbal tea, and I ordered a small coffee with a shot of espresso. Both our drinks were amazingly good — my coffee was smooth, rich, and not bitter, and served piping hot(nice during the chilly weather!). As if that wasn’t enough, when I went to pay for our drinks, I was told that they were complementary samples, and to help ourselves to pastries too! I was already excited to leave these nice folks a positive review — they didn’t need to offer to «comp» our order. The fact that they *did* comp our order is just proof that my appreciation of them and their new business is well founded. Drip Coffee will immediately follow our next visit to Sunrise Deli across the street — the best falafels in the world followed by the best coffee? What more could you ask for?!
