While walking around Irving street looking for good boba, we passed by this place and I was drawn in by the smell. Unfortunately, they were sold out of almost everything so I bought one of the few original roti buns that were left. Checking in here also provided a free side of vanilla whipped cream which was a nice bonus. I really was not expecting much out of this, but when the cashier warmed it up in the oven and handed it to me, I was pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of this little treat. It was slightly sweet and not too heavy. On top is a nice coating of something that I could not identify, but it was delicious and crumbly. Overall, this was both cheap and tasty and I would get it again in the future.

Someone in Asia was like… let’s make a list of the Top 10 sugary things you can eat, and pick 6 – 8 of those items, and turn it into some sort of dessert concoction for the masses. Thus was born the Taiwanese Honey Brick Toast. French Toast Honey Powdered Sugar Chocolate Syrup Ice Cream Chocolate Pieces Sugar-Soaked Fruits Whipped Cream I could go on and on, but I won’t, because I’m in a sugar coma right now…

I CRAVE the chocolate butter rotis. They pair so well with their original milk tea with honey boba. This specific milk tea has a very distinct taste that I automatically associate with the roti buns! Their rotis(original, chocolate butter, yogurt) all sell like hot cakes! So don’t come in 30 minutes before closing only to find out they’ve sold out of all of them. Highly recommend this place for their roti buns and original milk tea. One star knock off for consistently selling out of their roti buns before closing(understandable, but still!)

So if you’re thinking of coming here for waffles and gelato I would think again. It was a warm day and my family decided to stop by for something cold and tasty. I know everyone is raving about the place’s roti bread but if I feel like having bread or a bun I think I’ll hop on over to Sheng kee. So the gelato was refreshing and had great flavor but the waffle… –__– I hate soggy waffles. Like I understand if it got a bit soggy with the gelato melting on top but you could tell from biting into the lukewarm waffle that this guy was not allowed to sit in the iron long enough. So what you get is a soft piece of bread posing as a waffle. Overall cute spot but I would only come again for possibly a milk tea.

The roti buns here aren’t as fresh. Each time I’ve visited the South Bay locations they’ve always been straight out of the oven and into my hands. We know because we see them baking the buns and sometimes we have to wait 10 – 15 minutes while they’re in the oven. The ones we ordered here at this location were sitting in a glass case which they took to the back to reheat. A few minutes later they re-emerge with the heated roti buns in paper bags. I’ll stick to the South Bay location for my roti bun cravings, thanks.

Okay let me start with saying I Love their Roti buns! delicious just the right sweetness warm goodness I love their original. the only reason I’m giving this place a one star. I’m big on customer service and the young girl and boy working here obviously know nothing of it. Wednesday night on Irving walk in. and the girl working the counter is talking to her two friends. Her two friends see she has customers and moves to the left towards the gelato, STILLTALKINGABOUTSH*T that don’t matter. So she sees this and guess what her or the boy texting or on «instagram straight flexin» on his phone doesn’t even acknowledge or even as a «we will be right with you». I’m not asking for class A service but damn I’m right there and can hear the pointless a$$ conversation your having. I say if you would like to talk to your friends then take a break bring it to the tables or outside no one can tell you work there. I thought fine maybe it’s one off tonight cause usually the service is attentive. I went to the store down the street and came back thinking I can still get a delicious original roti bun. but nah she was still talking to her same friends. if you’re wondering why your sales are low certain nights then there goes your answer. I actually liked this place cause I didn’t have to travel far to the one down the peninsula. but dang why you gotta be so rude?!

As much as I love tPumps, sometimes I just want to good milk tea without the wait. Not sure why Honeyberry doesn’t get the same attention. Their drinks are good and the roti buns are toasty and delicious. I love getting my hands on a fresh cream filled bun. Mmmmm! Only thing is that I realized my friend’s daughter was working here. Nothing like that to make me feel older than dirt. She was very friendly and helpful though, so leave a good tip for her — she’s college bound! Try them out. It’s worth it.

A friend took me here, cause he told me about the«Roti bun» hype. Being that I’ve never had it and always up to stuffing my face with new food… my only reply is «lets goooo!» There are a few flavors to choose from. I picked the cream cheese flavor. The bun was soft and buttery and had some cream cheese infused inside of the bun. The only gripe I had was that there was a thumb’s worth of cream cheese!!! Overall, I thought it was okay. Parking can be challenging so be patient. Staff was cool, didn’t get to try their almond teas or other beverages, I guess I can give them another shot, next time I’m out there

They have fluffy snow desserts on the door, but not on the menu? Their milk tea is weirdly thick and creamy? I tried lavender. I don’t know. I didn’t like it. Threw it away.

The roti buns are to die for! They make a fresh batch frequently so the buns are always fresh and warm. They come in 3 flavors: original, chocolate chip with butter filling, and yogurt chip with cream cheese filling. The exterior is crunchy, resembling a cookie. So it’s basically a cookie-bun combo. A must try! Also tried a boba drink with ice cream. I think they just add 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream. They should ask what flavor you’d want though. It tastes sweet and creamy, and reminds me of a root beer float. Make sure you get the buns when they are fresh and warm out of the oven! If not, they will reheat it in the oven and it’ll be much harder and not as yummy.

Bubble tea, brick toasts, roti buns and gelato. Bubble tea: Got standard original milk tea. I asked if they have soymilk and they said they stopped serving withs soy milk. This was a bummer, considering that every milk tea place I go seem to have this accommodation. None the less, good tea flavor, nice and creamy pretty standard. Toast: We got the green tea brick toast which came with the toast, 2 scoops of green tea gelato, some red beans, strawberries all drizzled with honey and whipped cream. Nice contrast between the warm toast and cold gelato. The honey was a nice touch too. Roti Bun: I was able to try the original and cream cheese. These roti buns are fabulous! They are like cookies on the outside and warm and chewy on the inside which reminds me the insides of a croissant. The cream cheese one was too heavy for me, it was very buttery and sweet. I enjoyed the original more

Before I even walk into Honeyberry, I’m always set on ordering their green tea honeybread aka honey toast because it is the best honey toast I’ve ever tried. It is consistently well-made and always tastes so good. You can order half($ 6.95) or whole($ 8.95) and it’s so worth it. The whole is HUGE(see my pic) — it comes with two thick toast slices and 2 large scoops of gelato with strawberries, red bean, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry all drizzled with the perfect amount of honey. It never disappoints, but next time, I will be more open-minded and remember that they have«roti burgers», which is gelato on top of a roti bun! Sounds so amazing, especially the Speculoos one. I love cookie butter, so much that I’ve actually eaten Speculoos cookies dipped in cookie butter before…(just once!) So basically, I have to try this the next time I come here. As for their famous roti buns, I never stray away from the original because they’re always so warm, soft, and tasty without being too sweet. I also want to try the butter chocolate chip and yogurt chip/cream cheese roti buns though… one day when I’m feeling adventurous. The staff is super nice too and they have lots of other sweets on their menu such as milk tea, flavored tea, milkshakes, espresso drinks, waffle gelato, banana split, etc. But if it’s your first time or can’t decide what to get, I highly recommend the original roti buns and green tea honey toast!

I’ve never been to honeyberrys other locations, but I know they have shaved ice. I came here for the shaved ice and was sadly disappointed. Their sign says coming soon, however they’ve been open now for a long time and still don’t have it :( Their roti buns are pretty good. I’d prefer the chocolate one over the others. I ordered a roti burger with coffee gelato and it was good and fairly priced. Their milk teas are a bit on the sweet side but aren’t bad. What I found interesting was that the time I came they were giving out samples of their lychee flavored whipped cream: P yum!

At first I thought $ 2 for a bun was expensive. But, when I thought about ShengKee and other Asian bakeries, I decided it wasn’t far off at all. Plus, these roti buns are delivered to you all warm and soft; who doesn’t love some hot, supple buns? ;) Their menu( ) has a wide variety of items for consumption, but I was there for the sole purpose of trying the famous roti bun. And that I did. I opted for the YOGURTCHIPROTIBUN + the free vanilla filling that comes with a Unilocal check-in( ). The bun’s texture is akin to a croissant, with some parts of the bun more doughy than fluffy. They take the time to heat up your bun, which, naturally, takes time. If you opt for filling, they take this awesome gun and squirt it all up in your bun ehehe. The yogurt cream on inside tasted like warm, sour cream cheese, which I enjoyed because I like the sourness of yogurt(think Fage Greek yogurt). The sour tones were nicely offset by the light fluffiness of the vanilla whipped cream and the flavor of the caramelized butter on the top of the bun( ), making for a yummy flavor and texture profile. Gotta love me some hunnybuns!

I saw a Unilocal friend check-in at Honeyberry and was curious what a Roti Bun was. Saw pictures of breads and ice cream and I started craving for something I have never even tired. So after work I take the MUNI out to the Sunset. I almost passed the small store. I don’t know what I was expecting but it is a simple concept just gelato and their Roti Buns. What is a roti bun and why is there all this hype around it? So I guess if I had to describe them, they are these simple sweet breads that has a thin coffee crust layer baked onto it and sometimes its stuffed with some sort of butter filling(i.e. chocolate, cream cheese, etc). It definitely doesn’t look like anything special but they are quite a treat when you do come across one. They remind me a little bit of Mexican sweet bread, but it’s not as dense. Chocolate Butter Roti ~ warm, light, fluffy, and only slightly sweet so it’s not overbearing just the slight hint of chocolate and a suggestion of butter. Amazing! They toast it for you so it is still nice and hot when you eat it. Yogurt Chip Roti with Cream Cheese ~ extremely soft and fluffy with a bit of cream cheese filling inside and topped with yogurt chips everything seemed to melt in my mouth. I ate two buns but they were so light and airy I think I could have eaten more if I was not on a self-imposed diet! So if you’re curious to find out what these buns are made off put a smile on your face and try them!

We always want what we DONT have. Unfortunately, that’s how humans are. In San Jose, I would be down the street from a honey berry and I got sick of it, but ever since I was in college, I began to crave it more than ever. Upon noticing the constant signs saying«THEBUNSAREHERE» while I lined up for my husband, Tpumps, I found myself overly excited to try something I had been sick of. I remember a year ago when my older cousin handed me a roti bun suspiciously saying«EATIT!» and he had that evil smirk on his face… Me: «NO, I wont eat this, you look like you’re conspiring something right now» Evil Cousin: «EATIT! ITMAKESYOURPEESMELLLIKECOFFEE» Me: «WHATTHEHELL!!! NOOOO youre sooo weirddd…» But in the end, I gave in, and my obsession with buns began. Roti Buns, that is. It’s true, BESTPEEFRAGRANCEENHANCER! ^___^ Roti Mocha Honey Toast(there’s a choice of half or full size) about ~$ 6.75 for a half and maybe around $ 12.50 for a full? Green Tea Mocha Honey Toast(there’s a choice of half or full size) about ~$ 6.75 for a half and maybe around $ 12.50 for a full? Plain Roti Bun $ 1.65 All were absolutely delicious! I actually like the honey toast here because it’s so fresh and amazingly tasty!(much better than akiba, if I may add). Their Roti Buns are ALWAYS fresh and hot!!! have not tried their drinks yet, just because its across from Tpumps, but heard many good things about it! FREEWIFI! Excited that I dont need to go back to SJ for this! I really hope this place stays unbusy… but I know it will be bustling soon.

Really good roti buns! Make sure to get them hot. It’s like a bo-loh-bao(pineapple bun) but Malaysian style. They have other desserts here– shaved ice, brick toast, gelato, honey boba drinks– so there is something for everyone.

Unlike other hyped up places I’ve finally tried(read: TPumps), Honey Berry did not disappoint! After seeing them pop-up rather steadily in my feed, I knew I was going to check them out sooner rather than later. However, I had no idea I’d be able to check them out without even having to leave the city! Purely by chance, my friends and I happened to drop in during this location’s soft launch(their grand opening was two days later). I’m not sure if they had any of their other menu items available((honey toast boxes, gelato, boba, etc.), but it didn’t matter since we were clearly there for just one thing — roti buns! — Yogurt Chip Roti Bun with Cream Cheese…$ 1.95 ( ) Even though there wasn’t much cream cheese inside, I thought it was pretty good. The yogurt and filling added some sourness, but it wasn’t super tart. — Chocolate Butter Roti Bun…$ 1.95 ( ) Remembering my friend’s Honey Berry reviews, I just had to try this one! It sucked how the chips smeared against the bag, but it still tasted great. Perhaps a little too buttery, but I can definitely see why she loves this one so much! — Plain Roti Bun…$ 1.65 ( ) Clearly not as flavorful as the others, but it was nice to try the dough/bun on its own(albeit with the crust). I thought it was just okay, but my friend liked this one the most. The times I’ve passed by Honey Berry since trying them out, it’s never been ridiculously busy inside. And quite honestly, I hope it stays that way. While I certainly want them to do well, I don’t know if they’re worth the wait. Then again, at least it’d be more worth it than having to wait for TPumps.

I’d been anticipating the opening of Honeyberry ever since they plastered their storefront windows with«THEBUNSARECOMING!!!» Finally wandered in during day 1 of their soft opening, which is when they work out the kinks before their grand opening. Because of this, they were out of their chocolate butter roti buns and the buns were not being baked every 15 minutes, so I can’t say I had a superfresh bun, but the cream cheese one I had was pretty good; a sweet, airy, crisp topping that surrounds a fluffy, warm interior, complete with a gooey center. Yum! Definitely go for the filled roti buns versus the plain ones. Service was surprisingly wonderful. Everyone was cheery and talkative, and seemingly excited about their upcoming opening. The place is bright, clean, and welcoming, although relatively small and not good for groups. My one worry with Honeyberry is their location and uniqueness of their drinks and desserts. They’re a great fit for Irving St., but they have some pretty fierce competition. Sheng Kee is just a few doors down, which already has some mean buns and pastries at cheaper prices(although they’re not open that late). T-pumps is across the street, and Teaway and Wonderful Foods are down the street, which all have cult boba followers. If Honeyberry can keep up their great service and keep baking up those fresh roti buns, they should do fine though. Check ‘em out and see if you become a fan! Words of warning: don’t buy more roti buns than you can eat! If you tuck them away for later, they don’t taste very good… but that shouldn’t be a problem :)
