Soooo good. Came on Valentine’s Day around 12 pm. We only waited like 5 minutes to be sat! We were expecting to wait hours! Our first time here, we got bottomless mimosas, my boyfriend got eggs blackstone and I got banana foster French toast. ITWASAMAZING! It doesn’t come together, but you can add bananas foster to anything for $ 1.50. Everyone here is very helpful, super sweet, and it was a good happy environment. $ 3, $ 3.50, $ 4, $ 5 specials on all types of beers. A couch and lots of tables. This is a lovely place and we will definitely come back!

So good! I’ve lived in the Excelsior for a couple of years but was still brunching further into SF, out of habit. I decided to look up some spots closer to home and stumbled upon this spot a few blocks away. Lucky us!

Seems divey enough and the clientele seems to be composed of local laborers. Drinks are cheap here. Do not order the bloody mary.

Neighborhood bar. Parking is rough. Came in on a Sunday morning(super bowl Sunday.) around 10. Took awhile to get greeted but eventually we did. The southwest omelette was really good. They did not skimp on spinach or cheese! The spicy potatoes are flavored really well. I didn’t have a drink this time since I’m back from a week long trip full of drinking but I look forward to having a drink here! Fairly priced food and inexpensive drinks. There’s not that many servers on the floor but come in with an open mind and you’ll be sure to enjoy breakfast/brunch.

BRUNCH: Upon arriving I was aligned with the four star sentiment, but then I realized that this place has so many perks: down to earth atmosphere, fair pricing, no wait, dazzling* service, and hella speedy food making by the kitchen. Pro tip… Make sure to ask for the«good coffee» vs the«kitchen coffee.» Would definitely return for brunch. *= as used in conversation by our server

This is a small bar with really good greasy food. So sad they didn’t have any hangover hash breakfast left around 12 noon. But lesson learned, I’ll come earlier for this. I ordered the imperial mimosa(yum!) and the basic breakfast. Food came out fairly quick — and large portions I might add. The servers were really outgoing and funny. I will definitely be back to try that hangover hash dish when I’m in the city on a sunday morning!

Service is good. My friends and I were not impressed w/their bfast. The only GOOD thing out of the several plates we ordered were the banana waffles.

Found my new go-to brunch spot in the city. They have bottomless mimosas or bloody mary’s for $ 14 with a 90 minute limit. The mimosas are made the way you want to drink them with mostly champagne and a splash of OJ and the bloody’s are flavorful and not too spicy, which you can add hot sauce to your liking. I ordered the eggs benedict and my friend got the hangover hash and both were very good. Our server, David was hilarious and attentive. Can’t wait to enjoy another Saturday or Sunday brunch here.

I am so sorry that I didn’t take a picture of my food, but it was gone before I knew it. The owners are awesome! The service here was great and the food immaculately delicious… and it came out fast. What a great place. If you need to ramp up your cool factor this is a great place to start.

Solid breakfast or brunch spot. Good quality ingredients. Fast and friendly service. I had the Eggs Benedict; the eggs were perfectly poached and the English Muffin they sat on was fantastic. The hollandaise was great as well. I have only one minor quip about the dish: I feel like the dish was a little unbalanced. The English Muffin and poached egg shone, while the hollandaise and Canadian bacon took a total back seat. The English muffin was definitely more substantial than a typical English muffin, which could definitely be a factor here. The only reason why I knew the hollandaise was good was because I tasted it separately from the rest of the dish. The spicy potatoes were good. Tasty, but nothing super special. Prices are not horrible, but not awesome either for a dive.

I’m beginning to find that I am a dive bar man. When you walk in, you see the dirt, and the grime, and the grit, and you begin to fall in love with its minimalist set-up. Fading posters hang above the bar to tell you that they’ve got beers ranging from $ 2.50 — $ 5, and a backroom seduces you with an old pool table and 50-cent pinball machines. Older folk sit glued to their bar stools, as the younger neighborhood crowd sits in crickety booths and sip on cocktails while eating Taino’s delicious Puerto Rican food on Thursdays. It’s enough to make a man take a breath and smell the roses. The roses here, however, smell of the Doctor’s drink. Drinks are strong and cheap. If you’re asking for a cocktail, expect it to be ¾ alcohol, which is exactly how it should be. Otherwise, pull up a stool, throw some quarters into the old school jukebox, and catch whatever game is on while shooting the breeze with the old man behind the counter. I can guarantee you’ll have a good time. The pop-up restaurant window certainly makes it easier to wash down your booze.

They had taken biscuits and gravy off the menu when I went which was a huge bummer. They were short staffed so they had to consolidate the menu to make the day more tolerable. The shrimp and grits was quite good. My only gripe was that the menu said it came with tomatoes and avocado, which I figured would be like a side of sliced tomatoes and avo or something, but there was no avocado and like a couple pieces of chopped tomato on top of my grits. The tomatoes were what really brightened the dish up and it needed more. The grits were great, the shrimp was undercooked which is better than being overlooked, for sure. Fountain soda tastes horrible, don’t order it, typical of a bar fountain, what’s that about? I don’t wanna know… Will probably go back to try the biscuits and gravy, and get a coffee instead of a coke.

Tommy made roast beef tonight. Served with veggies and pudding at $ 10.00. Great deal and delicious. Menu changes each week.

I’m obsessed with Doctor’s Lounge brunch, and it’s also a pretty cool neighborhood spot to grab a drink and watch sports. But really, brunch is where it’s at. Of course $ 14 for 90 minutes of unlimited mimosas or Bloody Mary’s makes this spot very appealing, but unlike other places with similar offerings, their food is also delicious. For brunch this weekend, we had a custom omelet with toast/eggs/hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy with poached eggs/spicy potatoes, and their special weekend waffle — a cheddar bacon waffle with this amazing apple cider compote. We also did unlimited mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. The omelet was totally fine — I would probably say go with one of their more exciting Eggs Benedict dishes instead — but the biscuits and gravy were ah-maz-ing. The dish included three biscuit halves(1.5 biscuits) and a whole mess of delicious chunky sausage gravy. The waffle special was also really good and very unique — next time, I look forward to trying the Bananas Foster waffle. The waitresses are all friendly and efficient, and the owner is a hoot. He has an adorable little dog named Jolene that I very much enjoyed hanging out with(don’t worry, she isn’t just roaming around… I know that would freak some people out). The space is really cool — good vibe — and the people are fun. The crowd is a good mix of young people, hipsters, older folks, neighborhood regulars, etc. The space looks like someone’s chilled out basement lounge from the 70’s — but not in a kitschy way like some designer tried too hard. Anyway, I will definitely be coming back to this place and would highly recommend it to others. P. S. Make sure you get a tray of hot sauce with your food — so much fun!

A place where I can drink grapefruit cider and play pinball for 50 cents a game? and it’s one block from my apartment!!! Alright, you’ve got me, Doc’s Lounge! Friendly service at the bar and on brunch weekends. The eggs benedict and belgian waffles here are bomb. Great post break-up place to head to. To top it off, they’ll trade you quarters for your dollars. So you can play more pinball, yippeee!!! And this place smells pretty decent for a bar, too!

We arrived around 11:30am on Saturday and was seated right away since we were only a group of 2. There was a group of 4 that waited a while, not sure how long. We ordered, $ 10.50 french toast, $ 2.50 biscuit and gravy, $ 13 hangover hash. Yummm, best part was the biscuit and gravy and it was the cheapest thing we got. It had lots of sausage in the gravy, that I could just eat by itself. The french toast was like regular french toast. The hangover hash, I think I expected it to be more like homefries than chunks of potatoes, good nonetheless. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area.

Brunch review only… Im not impressed. As the only american brunch place in excelsior, I think they’re little lazy. $ 35 for two ppl Food mediocre. Service good and quick turn around. Standard fare brunch.

It’s a great little neighborhood spot for brunch! I had the cajun shrimp over salad and it was delicious! Don’t forget to check in on Unilocal to get a free side of biscuits and gravy which I highly recommend! The gravy has bits of meat in it so it’s pretty hearty and tasty. Can’t go wrong with bottomless mimosas too!
