This is a lovely market, a gem to stumble across. In addition to the basics, they have a nice little meat counter and wonderful Mediterranean baked goods. It’s quite inexpensive, and the folks who run it are just the nicest. I stop by every time I’m in the neighborhood just to say hi and to see what sweet goodness they have to offer that day!

With the only serious Middle Eastern markets in San Francisco in the deep Mission and outer Sunset, Casbah is a welcome addition to the mid-city. Now I don’t need to haul my tuchas out to 22nd& Irving to resupply harissah, zatar, magrabeh and labne; I can get them right near 7th and market. Most of the store is mid-east dry goods. They have a halal and kosher meat counter, though(per the market name), and are stocking up a deli, which will hopefully soon offer ME takeout. Currently, they have a wide array of fresh pastries and cookies(not sure what bakery), but they do not have much/anything in the way of ME breads. They do have a dairy case which is slowly being stocked up with both regular and ME dairy(labne, feta, various ME cheeses) but is not fully stocked yet. Oh, and did I mention that they’re inexpensive? Anyway, if you cook Middle Eastern food at home, drop by Casbah Market to resupply. And keep tabs on them as they restock and expand what they offer.
