We got there at 7:30 a.m. and all the doors were closed. I was a little annoyed because I could not find the actual entrance to get to the café. The selections to me were minimal but we made it work and ordered scrambled eggs with bacon. They accompanied that with a few pieces of fruit which was a nice little touch. Overall though it all tasted very good.

AMAZING!!! Can I give a 10 star… I love this place and the owners. The food is incredible, organic, sustainably and locally sourced:) Food is unique and handmade daily, so fresh and delicious and nourishing. Service is always friendly and quick. Owner has the most amazing personality that spreads like wildfire:) Portions are huge and sometimes have leftovers fro a snack or second meal:) YUM!!! Display of food and presentation is beautiful and there are Gluten Free options. Feel so lucky to work next to this café.

Went out of our way to go eat there and couldn’t find the entrance. The arrow points to a locked door that said use back entrance, but all doors were locked. We were well within business hours.

Conveniently located for all those who work in the Presidio, Café RX offers many more options than the local cafeteria. Though there are a few tables to sit at, this is more of a grab-n-go place. They have breakfast and lunch options strewn all over the wall next to the windows where you order your food. There is typically a long line, but they’re pretty fast. You order at the window, get your number, then wait around. Honestly I did not expect much when I walked down the hallway leading up to Café RX but the menu took me by surprise. There is a large cuisine variety available, which would make it quite enjoyable if I worked in the Presidio and chose to eat here more often. There is no logical order to the menu, so just order whatever catches your eye. I decided on the vegetarian quesadilla, which was super tasty and filling. It was also sweet… which was unique but strange. My friend got the ceviche which was pretty good too. The food here is slightly better than average so I would recommend it to anyone dining nearby in the Presidio. Plus, they have a rotating menu so you’ll never get bored!

The food and surrounding landscape are wonderful at Café RX. This is a very traditional style café where you order and then pick up your food at a window. However, contrary to the typical café food one would expect, the offerings at Café RX are gourmet. There are plenty of areas to sit and enjoy your food and the presidio. The line gets long, but the chefs are quick at preparing the food, so even with 10 – 15 people in line, the wait is relatively short. I had the smoked turkey sandwich on ciabatta bread. It was definitely above average. It was served with a small side salad that I thought was a nice touch. Every item I saw looked absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this spot for anyone in the area looking for a good meal.

Was expecting a restaurant not a little coffee café inside what looks to be a library/art college building. They don’t have a vast breakfast menu but they had a lot of lunch sandwich options but we came too early for lunch. The basically have bagels and yep, that’s about it. I got the Lox special which had smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers on my bagel. It came with a refreshing mixed green salad. The salad was good and the bagel was okay. Huge portions but the lox were in huge chunks which made it tough to eat and my tummy didn’t feel too well afterwards. The bacon which wasn’t on the menu was pretty good though. From the look of Unilocal pictures I think this place is better for a quick lunch. Can’t really call it a breakfast place when all they have is bagels and a slice of bacon.

I have spent lunch breaks at RX a handful of times. If I didn’t work on the Presidio, I probably would never go, let alone know about it, but it’s a popular spot for workers nearby. I’ve tried a variety of salads and sandwiches, all of which have been filling, prepared quickly, and served by a kind counter person, and despite the heavy traffic, I’ve always been able to find a table of my own. The café is nestled in the center of a corridor between two art galleries, so the giant windows across from the kitchen and counter let in a lot of light. It’s moderately comfortable. To its credit, it is reliable: the food, while nothing spectacular or creative, is consistently just decent.

With limited lunch options in the Presidio, Café RX has a captive audience for those who don’t feel like walking the extra 10 minutes to Chestnut Street, or want something quick — oh wait, this place isn’t fast at all. Go here anytime during lunch hour(12−1ish) and you’ll probably be waiting in a line 20 people long that doesn’t move exceedingly fast. Also, the volume of orders will delay your food about 10 minutes from the time you order to pickup. Having a captive audience means being able to charge the Presidi-tax, and it’s clear that people don’t mind paying $ 10 for a sandwich. They do have different menu selections daily, but keywords like ‘free range’, ‘organic’, and others are a license to charge more. I wasn’t unhappy with my free range chicken sandwich, but I wasn’t impressed either. I asked for it to be toasted extra, to which I got a reply ‘we toast it a lot anyway’ — they didn’t, it was soft and the bread got soggy quickly(sandwich places — toast your breads please –_-). I was expecting a large chunk of free range chicken breast, but instead it was chopped up in chunks and a tomato sauce — a sneaky way of giving you less chicken. The side greens were not comment-worthy and overall it was a very 3-star sandwich. Limited drink options available and a breakfast menu that closes at 11am(I can’t get a egg and chorizo burrito at lunch time? Did you have to send the ingredients back to the store or something? This isn’t McDonalds guys.) also made me not want to come back. General atmosphere was meh. My colleague ordered the chicken tamale(same price as mine, but only 1 decent-sized tamale on the plate) with a disappointing 80⁄20 ratio of corn to chicken. So, that also factored into my review. I’ll probably be here again as I work nearby, and I’ll update my review accordingly after I order something else.

I ordered a chicken quesadilla which was delicious. Under 10 bucks, good price. The service was quick & the seating area is light & airy. If you are in the area, it is a good place to stop!

This place is located in the old(former) military infirmary of the Presidio. You order your food at a window and then find a table in a long white hallway with lots of windows. It has kind of a cafeteria style feel in the hallway of a historic building. One other thing to note: all parking in the Presidio is metered, so you have to pay to park. Everyone I was with loved their sandwiches, and I had a great salad with mixed greens, apples, walnuts, goat cheese, and chicken. The food is a little pricier than some other places, but their menu is constantly changing so that the food is fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend it!

Just had a DELICIOUS veggie burger at RX! Mind you, I’m definitely not a vegetarian — but it was so yummy and satisfying! Friendly service and reasonable prices in a beautiful setting(the tables look into a lovely courtyard)…will be back!

You MUST eat here and get the Lox Bagel. TODIEFOR! We went for a quick eat before seeing the Golden Gate Bridge. No line on a Monday at 8am, food was quick. You order at the window and they call your name when it’s ready.

GOHERE&YOUWON’T REGRETIT(; my roommate and I were able to stumble upon this cute place, due to the fact that we were both hungry and we were up by lovers lane. Now, as far as the setting goes, it kindof looks like a school/hospital cafeteria. .. however, as far as food goes, it was sooooo freaking yummy! I had the vegetarian quesadilla, and my roommate had the tuna melt, and we were both extremely pleased with our meals. the food is sooo fresh, and it has a nice touch to it –meaning, I have never tasted a better quesadilla than this one that I had today!

Fantastic food. If you go at 11:30 for lunch there is less people. By 12:15 or so it gets busy. Food is fantastic and the menu is always changing. I’m a regular and love it.

This is easily one of the best-kept secrets in The Presidio. The food is always healthy, organic and with lots of options for those who are either meat– or gluten-free. Feels like home, but looks gourmet. Not only that, but the food is delicious served with energy, passion and compassion. Rogelio, the proprietor is a creative and full of awesome. It’s easily accessed from the Palace of Fine Arts as well. I go there as often as I can. All restaurants should be attuned to such healthy, affordable, delicious food as this.

Finally, a place in the Presidio that serves really good food for an affordable price! Café Rx is definitely the best medicine for a big appetite with small pockets. The owner Rogelio is an awesome, friendly guy goes out of his way to make you feel at home. The food is delicious and as others have mentioned, there is an extensive menu to choose from. Not only that, the menu changes regularly, and the specials which include Salvadoran pupusas and tamales are to die for! Their lunches are scrumpdillyumptious! But the breakfast is just as good! The huevos con chorizo(eggs with chorizo) is so freakin good! The eggs are scrambled just right and the pieces of chorizo give it that yummy made at home feel. They also make a french toast that is so tasty(I hate when french toast tastes eggy, this one doesn’t) and has yummy FRESH fruit on top. All in all, Café Rx is a hidden gem in the Presidio located in the Thoreau Center aka the old Letterman Hospital. It’s next door to the Lucas studios, so if you are ever in the area checkin out the Yoda fountain go there for breakfast or lunch! Tip: Get there before 11 am and try out the breakfast, it’s totally worth it! Plus you’ll skip the lunch line. But if you do go for lunch try and get there early, so you won’t have to wait.

Just as the name implies, this is the place to get your fix in the Presidio. I work nearby so I visit regularly for lunch. Café RX also serves breakfast, which I’m sure is just as delicious, although I’ve never tried it. Since it’s one of the only restaurants in the area, it gets pretty crowed during lunchtime(12 – 2 pm). Although, I’ve only waited at most 15 minutes for food. Everyone who works there is very friendly and as you wait in line to order, you frequently overhear convos between staff and regulars. It’s nice to see how well they treat loyal customers. My favorite meal here is the chicken quesadilla, which will slightly differ each week. One time it had the most amazing watermelon salsa on it! Another time it was a mango salsa. I like the slight variations, it keeps the dishes exciting! There are always a few specials and most of the regular menu contains soups, salads, and sandwiches. I know some people feel it’s expensive, but I don’t mind the price, because I always end up with leftovers since portions are generous. For more info on Café RX, check out the reviews of Acre Café. It’s the same place, same staff, and for the most part the same menu — just different ownership and a new name.
