All Star Tamales are the best! I enjoy them every Wednesday at the Civic Center Farmers Market and recently they even catered our wedding. We requested over 300 tamales of different flavors, rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, salad, etc. We picked it up from their Alemany Farmers Market spot and everything was warm and ready to go. They even included their special salad dressing for our salad. My favorite is vegan mushroom, other favorites of our guests were the Chicken Mole, red pork… it really seemed like every flavor was a hit. Best part about it was that my wife has legit gluten intolerance and every time we eat there she’s just fine, which made it great for us not to worry on our wedding day about the food getting her sick. Special thanks to Linda for working so well at being communicative with me despite all my last minute bridezilla changes.

No Lard? No Lard! So delicious and more healthy than some other lard laden tamales. But you can’t taste the difference anyways. I got around 4 dozen of their mini tamales for a party. Everyone kept talking the food for weeks after, they are just that good. They sell them hot and cold. You save a bit if you buy them cold. Sometimes I get a few to take with me to work for breakfast. My favorite is the green pork. The pasilla with cheese and the red pork.

We LOVE these tamales! These are the best tamales me and my husband have tasted so far. We have travelled in Latin America, but we haven’t found anything as tasty as these. We love the Green Pasilla and Cheese the most. The important part here is the sauce. Their salsas are very authentic and tasty. Try these tamales and you will become addicted!

My doggie daycare warehouse is close by the farmers market. I always eat at All Star Tamales on saturday. The shredded beef burrito is the best damm thing.

Just tried the sweet corn one. It was very good, made with butter.

I usually don’t care for tamales because the ones I have had in the past were dry, mealy, or made me sick. I’m pretty sure an old boss was trying to kill me with last one. It is a problem when I have to drown my food in sauce for it to be palatable. Going against reason, I was in the mood for tamales while at the farmer’s market. I got the green chile, pasilla and black bean options. The green chile was my favorite. I guess filling a tamale with a bunch of cheese makes it impossible to be dry. The pasilla one was also good with some spiciness. The black bean was dry and needed a lot of sauce to be ok. I’d skip that one next time. I may be a tamale fan, as long as they are cheesey.

Very good, had spinach/cheese and green chicken tamales. A bit expensive for the locale, especially for something wrapped in plastic with no veggies or rice/beans on the side. The tamales were absolutely delicious, though. I also like the little red sauce they give you. They really should work on the presentation, though.

LARDANDGLUTENFREE. All-Star Tamales is truly a blessing because I can indulge and not feel guilty afterwards. During my weekly Alemany Farmer’s market ritual I come here and buy them frozen(it’s slightly cheaper if you buy them frozen) and as they hand me a chunk load of red and green sauces… I smile and bow my head with gratitude.

More than masa and fillings, it’s a religious experience.

I was so stuffed but couldn’t pass up the 1 for $ 2.50, 2 for $ 4.75 tamales. The pork with green chile version was great. It gets messy when you try to pour the green and red salsas, eat and walk at the same time but that’s part of the fun! I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the tamales selection. Next time, I’ll be sure to hit this place first so that I enjoy it more).

veggie breakfast burritos hit the spot without filling you up too much(no beans or heavy stuff or grease in these guys and not very big). I like the egg, cheese, and salsa verde one. they were out of that yesterday, so we got the egg, cheese, and red potato instead – a little dry, but remedied by dousing in green salsa.

2.75 for a tamale? not a bad price, especially with all the more expensive booths on saturday mornings at the farmer’s market. i had the chicken mole tamale today, and i have to say, it was pretty good. the tamale was piping hot; the masa was nice and soft, not too mealy; the chicken mole itself was not too heavily flavored, which i enjoyed, but i wish there were more filling for 2.75. it was still a good tamale, and i’ll be sure to to come back for the friendly service and hot tamales.

The chili cheese tamale is sooo good. The sweet corn tamale is even better. It’s like creamed corn and corn bread all mixed together in a corn husk… yummm! I’m a big fan.

Make sure you check out the All Star Tamales stand when at the Alemany Farmer’s Market. They have a huge variety: pasilla, picadillo, green chile, pork or chicken mole, vegetarian, etc. The masa dough is just right, doughy enough but not overly dense and wrapped in generous layers of corn husks. Top the tamales off with your choice of salsa or hot sauces available in squeeze bottles at the counter. $ 2.50 each or $ 4.75 for two. You can buy them frozen too! YUM!

If I feel like something savory for breakfast while at the farmer’s market on Saturday mornings, I go here. (NOTE: I used to go to All Star’s competition next door, but ever since one of their employees was rude to me, I haven’t gone back… DON’T BERUDETOME… I don’t care if you were in 7×7 Magazine or in the New York Times! If you are rude, you’ve just lost my business…) Anyways, I’ve tried All Star’s black bean tamale, green chile tamale, and veggie tamale. All are great! Not too dry. Squeeze on some hot sauce from their assortment of hot sauces and you have the perfect breakfast! My husband had the pork mole last Saturday and loved it. 2 for $ 4.75. I think you can get a dozen for $ 24.00. Tempting… very tempting… The line is never long here, service is good and NOT rude, and the tamales are always piping hot!

1 for $ 2.50, 2 for $ 4.75. Delicious piping hot tamales right at the farmer’s market. 12 – 15 types, including some vegetarian ones. One tamale often time fills me up — two definitely do the trick. The tamales are generously filled and the masa is moist and not terribly mealy. Flavorful — though enhanced by the salsa squeeze bottle they have. I would have to throw this on the Top 10 list for best meal under $ 5 bucks in SF.
