Mehhh. Ordered garlic fries and chili cheese fries because we had the munchies after bar hopping in the area. And even inebriated, the fries disappointed! They were soggy fries and my friend, who actually likes soggy fries, didn’t even like em. I expected shoestring fries with the heavy toppings too, tsk. Not to mention, the bathrooms were super dirty. I held in my urge to go even when buzzed.

My husband and I checked this place out in September. I don’t know if we caught them on an off day or something… they had nothing we asked for. No ostrich, no buffalo, no mushrooms. The cashier seemed pleasant enough, but she seemed to have know what she was doing. Ended up getting a chicken burger that was completely plain and uninspired. Fries were nothing special either — no seasoning or anything. I don’t really know any compelling reason to return. How they have a positive Zagat rating, I have absolutely no idea.

No frills service, just down to essence of what a burger should be. My girlfriend had the hamburger and I had the buffalo burger. Perfectly cooked with toasted buns. No need to bother the cook for extra tomatoes and no pickles. You put on the condiments and sides yourself. I am coming back next tim for the ostrich burger. Thanks guys for a tasty meal.

Not the same without the specialty burgers. It was the only reason to eat here. The owner needs to spend some time on training the staff.

In the haze confusion and crowds at B2B, someone was able-minded enough to realize we were hungry and brilliantly suggested burgers. A Unilocal search brought us to Acme — close to the panhandle, and they serve beer? You can’t go wrong there. There are so many meat options. And the sourdough buns were incredibly soft, springy, and tasty. Yes, I may have been influenced by the B2B excitement. I did stop by Popeyes next door and steal a bite of my friends’ fried chicken which tasted like heaven as well. But that doesn’t change the fact that these burgers and fries were LEGIT amazing. Ranked by favorite type of meat: Cheeseburger(cheese makes anything taste great) Lamb(pretty gamey, hearty if you like that) Kobe(great quality meat) Chicken tender(though last, still very moist and good) Fries: All great! Thin crisp, soft chewy inside. The sweet potato and regular fries were both fantastic. The table next to us got garlic fries and they smelled amazing.

One question — should I have ordered something else? Especially when I saw Acme received two Zagat recommendation rewards? But I never trusted Zagat anyways. Came here for the first time since I was craving for a juicy cheeseburger after a long day at work. And found Acme on Unilocal since it was on my way home. Didn’t want to eat Popeyes which was located next door but maybe I should have… Or even waited for Nopa to open?!! Ordered medium rare cheeseburger with a fried egg and fries. Burger — was cooked medium(guess the cook didn’t hear me correctly) but the meat was dry and tasteless. Didn’t flake at all. Not juicy nor pink. Could have just made it better myself. Cheese = good Egg = good But how can u mess up cheese and egg Bread = nice crunch since its not a regular bun. So having a different bread makes it gourmet? Fries = biggest disappointment. Soggy. Not salty. Had to put my own seasoning at home. Condiment bar = ok. But overall take out packaging felt jiff. My burger literally just came in a small container to go. So do they assume I’m not going load up on condiments? I rather have a big box and put my condiments on the side then put them together at home but maybe the cashier was trying to be «green.» Probably wont come here again. Nice to try though Next time I’m going back to Jenny’s burger on Irving :)

We split a delicious cheeseburger before a show at the independent.. I was sad to see they were out of onion rings, but the fries satisfied my craving for fried goodness.

Am I missing something here… I stopped by yesterday and ordered a cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. I ordered the burger cooked medium, which is what I always do when ordering ground beef. Usually this still produces a juicy burger that is slightly pink. Not the case at Acme. The burger was dry and tasteless. Should I have ordered something besides the cheeseburger? I was curious about the exotic burgers, but I thought I would try the baseline burger first so I could really see how good the place is.

I came here hoping the negative reviews were not true but sadly, they are. I expected the high prices. I expected the flat patties. But I was still not prepared for the disappointment that was Acme Burgerhaus. To start off, they were out of the portabello burger and garlic fries at 6:30pm on a Sunday evening. My friend and I both ordered our burgers medium well(sorry foodies, I just don’t trust ground meat) and one came out medium, the other, well-done. The ciabatta bun was also disappointing — it wasn’t toasted and was TOO soft, like bagged bread from the grocery store, making me wonder if it’s loaded with preservatives to give it that odd texture. The flavors of my Jerusalamb burger were actually fine, though I would have preferred that the different components were layered on top of the patty instead of mixed into it. Then there were the much raved about sweet potato fries — huge portions? HA. If they had given us 1.5−2x as many fries, THEN i would’ve called it a large portion. These fries were decent, but most certainly did not blow my mind and were not worth the $ 4. The only good experience was that the cashier was very friendly. But in the end, my friend commented, «We should’ve gone to Popeye’s next door.»

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 3 years and finally tried this spot. My roommate had already tried it so we walked down. I ordered the Roman burger and a fat tire for 14 bucks. The ingredients, parmesan cheese, peppers, and more were in the ground beef. Unfortunately, they don’t load it all up with condiments for you but their station looked pretty loaded. They had some unique choices of sauces to go with it. The Srirachi was a nice touch. The burger was really tasty. I was super full afterwards. We shared some sweet potato fries that were good as well. It’s a BIT expensive, and would like the option of them loading up the condiments for you.

Yay for happy hour beer from 3−10pm and burgers! One Sapporo and a cheeseburger and some garlic fries later, I still wonder how I was able to tuck away that much food and why right now it actually still doesn’t seem like much. The place gets pretty crowded and noisy. At one point I thought I was drowning in noise. Anyways, you get your beers right quick. Although, my boyfriend and his friend had to request orange slices for their Pyramids. One of the staff popped out behind the counter and handed them off to us, which was nice of them, but a little bit awkward because they had to grab it from his dripping hands. Ordered my burger medium, and it came out a little bit on the dry side. You get slight pink, and when I looked down at my tray there was almost no burger juice. You’ll probably have to fix that problem by ordering medium rare or piling on mayonnaise(pesto, plain, or chipotle) to give it that delicious moisture. Speaking of mayonnaise… there is a condiment cart where you can put tomato, onions, peppers, lettuce, pickles, and I don’t remember what else onto your burgers. Kind of awesome because PICKLES. LOTSOFPICKLES. NOONECANCONTROLYOURPICKLEINTAKE. Garlic fries were very garlicky. Apparently they use raw garlic to top it off? Maybe some of them were cooked, but my boyfriend and our friend said that some bits of garlic were raw. So I guess that means that the garlic fries are very strong, but I couldn’t tell because I coated everything with pesto mayonnaise. That leads me to the conclusion that pesto mayonnaise saved my burger and my fries. Overall, the place is great, but a little bit expensive. Come here for the beer and the pesto mayonnaise. What you eat with the pesto mayonnaise is up to you.

Mmm. After eating here three times now, I can confidently say that I’m a fan of Acme Burgerhaus. There might be nothing better than a late night burger to soak up some of the alcohol from the night. The patties are huge, always cooked like you ask, and the toppings bar is always fresh and well-stocked with tomatoes, red peppers, pickles, lettuce, and a variety of sauces and condiments. Need something with your burger? They have fries, onion rings, chile cheese fries, corn on the cob, milkshakes(for $ 4−5ish), and cheap beer during happy hour(3−10pm).

This place is totally unassuming and unpretentious. It’s never that busy even during lunch time, which makes for an easy meal and a great place to go to if you want to be undisturbed. The service at the register is good, but then detached by the time you sit down. Just the way I like it. You can pick your cheese and the wellness of your burger. Aside from the standard beef burgers, they also serve turkey burgers, lamb burgers, buffalo burgers, ostrich burgers, and boca burgers. The standard beef burger is of the Neiman Ranch variety, but they also have kobe beef burgers. The lamb was juicy and not gamey. The beef was dry. The bun they use is interesting, very dry and flour dusted, kind of like ciabatta. I appreciate the deviation, but I wish they stuck to soft sesame buns. They also have a lunch deal where a side order of fries and a regular sized fountain drink is just $ 1 more to any burger purchase. It is totally worth it, even if they give you too much ice and don’t fill it up to the top. The fries are housemade and a little bit thick cut. They weren’t too crispy, but I like kinda soggy fries. The chili cheese fries are made with the gooey type of cheese. The garlic fries were amazing. The icing on the cake are all the complimentary condiments and fixings. Unlimited beefsteak tomato slices, red onions, romaine lettuce, sliced pickles, sliced pickled jalapenos, whole pepperoncini, mustard, mayo, ketchup, garlic aioli, and some other house spread. I love that aioli and that spread. They are solely the reason why I order fries when it’s not lunch time. If those are the icing on the cake, then the $ 2 happy hour beers is the cherry on top.

Based on the recommendation of my friend Stu, my partner and I tried Acme Burgerhaus in the Western Addition for dinner. The place was half-full so all the good tables were taken. The young lady was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a burger with Swiss cheese, medium rare, and onion rings while my partner had a Kobe burger with bacon, fries and a chocolate milkshake. Because we were seated near the counter, I could see the beef being flatten my hand into patties. In no time at all, our meal was ready. I got some brown mustard, a thick slice of tomato and some ice-cold lettuce along with some extra pickles. To my delight, my burger cooked perfectly — very pink inside. I think my partner’s burger was cooked medium, just as he ordered. We were very pleased with our burgers although my partner doubted that his Kobe burger was made from Japanese beef. There was more than I normally eat, it was so good that I finished everything. My partner complimented me on my choice of Acme although I owe it to Stu, the burger guru!

When you average out the menu prices with $ 1.95 beers on tap(sierra, anchor steam, fat tire, and 3 others…), this place is CHEAP! There’s a tv to watch the game. Place is small, it gets crowded esp during happy hour(3 – 10 everyday). The chili cheese fries are awesome. so are sweet potato. Tip: if you like garlic salt on your corn, ask them for some :)

LOVE the gourmet burgers you can order almost any way. Though a bit pricey, you are getting ½ lb. of Nieman Ranch beef. The more culinarily adventurous can opt for Buffalo or Ostrich burgers. I split the Mamma’s Burger infused with chopped white onions, parsley and allspice and the requested«medium rare» was really. a little too rare. The beef in the center was nearly raw(having done take-out and the hike up Heartbreak Hill, I was not up to the challenge 20 minutes later). Still, it was a great burger and worth the nearly $ 10 tag. The beer batter onion rings were greasy and delicious and served in a mighty portion. I like the condiment bar with the usual fixin’s plus chipotle and pesto mayo and hot peppers. Happy hour from 3 – 10 p.m. guarantees this spot will hop all day and through the night and your late night cravings, satisfied.

Last week, I read many negative reviews from one of the newest burger joint in the city. Therefore I have no intention of going and quickly eliminated Acme Burgerhaus from my bookmarked«to try» list. But then, in a short time, I lied. I was in the neighborhood for some work-related issues and with an empty stomach and a stressful working day, I did end up coming here after my work. From the menu, I had the Kobe Beef burger. For $ 13.00 and one of the pricier burgers I’ve had in a while, my customized Niman Ranch and higher-grade burger comes with a choice of cheese for an extra $ 1.00 in a toasty bun. There is also a condiment bar right behind the cashier with the vegetables and sauces including a Pesto Mayonaise. I also got a basket of fries for $ 3.00 and the side is nothing too fancy. My first time eating the Kobe Beef burger and I didn’t find anything too exciting either. My burger: The best deal was the happy hour $ 1.95 tap beer special from 3pm-10pm. I got Sierra Nevada Pale Ale as my beverage with my meal. Among the available beer on the special is: Blue Moon, Anchor Steam, PBR, IPA and Full Sail. My beer: My meal totaled to nearly $ 20.00 and that is one pricey meal from that neighborhood. Well, lesson is learned.
