I would love to rate it higher but I don’t think so! Yesterday, My boyfriend and I had orderd some chicken with Red Beans &Rice yesterday for Father’s Day. The chicken wasn’t done all the way, plus the Beans&Rice had a tangy taste like it was old, taste like its been sitting up for days. We will not be coming back to this location. We had thrown our beans & rice away because it made our stomach twist and turn. If anything, go to Popeyes in Fillmore. They’re way better.

You get what you pay for. Most of the time, the food is just fine. I only ever came to Popeyes when Mr. Joy had fried chicken cravings. It’s not easy to find parking, so usually I would order takeout inside while he circled the block, and then we’d be on our way. Something about this location just does not give off a good vibe, or a good smell. It just does not say come in, relax, eat & be merry! Even for fast food, it’s dingy. The service is fine, but slow. The place is usually quite dead, with just a handful of people ordering. Still they seem so understaffed. I don’t know how many people are responsible for making the food, but I’ve only ever witnessed one cashier person diligently putting all the orders together. The food’s not bad. I always like buttery, greasy biscuits. The red beans & rice are good too. Cajun fries are Mr. Joy’s jam. I actually think the chicken could be better. Sure the seasoning is alright and the skin is crispy, but there’s not that much meat. Some bites were just crunchy batter on bone. Like I said, you get what you pay for.

A few months ago some local media reported that this Popeyes is closing down. Well, instead of closing down, they renovated it and reopened! The new store is clean and comfortable to sit in. This is probably my favorite cheap chicken spot in town right now. Occasionally you’ll get homeless people wandering in asking for food. So it wouldn’t be a bad idea to order extra pieces so you can share with them.

This was a spot to go to back then. but I’ve notice new employees past couple of weeks and it’s just too horrible of a service. Went in last week and the service was very slow but still had to wait 10min to get help. This time The lady just looks around makes you wait for no reason then she starts cleaning doing her other things. I’ve under stand if there’s lots of customers but I’ve went in when its empty and they are playing very loud music over the speakers. I’m not sure but I think it’s the same lady. O well I’ll still give it a try on this location but when I see her I’ll just walk out and try again the next day.

The staff here is great. Super friendly despite the seemingly endless stream of rude garbage-type people that comes through here. The place is super clean and they have a 100 health score! Myself and some friends woke up with a hangover after a night of cards and drinking heavily. We scoured Unilocal only to find every fried chicken place nearby was closed and Popeyes was on our way to the haight. My brother got a small wing in his meal, I joked«just take it back, they probably deal with trashy people like that all the time.» Two seconds later some woman comes in and makes a huge fuss for the entirety of our meal making a fool of her damn self. She sent her kids to get food for her. Her son ordered the wrong meal and she comes in after to make a stink about it, not sure exactly what she was complaining about. Then other customers start chiming in. Like, people! stfu are you serious? Mind ya bizness. Hilariously enough, my friend who was standing in line came back to the table and said the whole thing started because she got a small wing! Hahaha i totally called it. Anyway, the staff was somehow really nice and they gave us cooled wetnaps from the fridge after our meal. Thanks guys!

Well, no surprises here, it’s all about the chicken. I’ve eaten here 4 times do not recommend the shrimp, tastes like spicy nothing. The green beans are okay, a little spicy also. You can only get cajun fries here and I thought they were way too spicy. You can get mild chicken and it’s greasy and delicious. It’s difficult to get extra napkins however. That being said on Tuesdays they have a leg and a thigh for $ 1.99 plus tax. There is a cool soda dispenser where you can get any kind of soda you can imagine, really high tech!

Customer Service was ok, chicken was crispy and juicy, fries was a little soggy, and the bathroom was a little dirty and smelled but hey its a fast food restaurant so I cant complain.

Oh yeah, baby! This has to be THE best Popeye’s that I have ever been to. It’s very clean and the staff are friendly and energetic. The service here is second to none. And of course the food here blows all the other locations right out of the water. The one Fillmore needs to take notes of how a Popeye’s actually operates.

This Popeye’s was probably the cleanest chain restaurant I’ve ever been to. The reason why this is getting a 3-star from me was the service. My friend and I came here and got the exact same order. He received his within 5 minutes and I had to wait about 10 minutes for mine. Apparently they didn’t cook our nuggets together which I don’t understand why they couldn’t put a batch since our orders were consecutive. The food was great. It was what I expected it to taste like. I usually get my chicken nuggets with the bayou buffalo sauce. My favorite part about Popeye’s is their French fries with Cajun seasoning. So good!

Hmmm never going back. Its all flour, oil oil oil and more oil oh plus sodium. Unhygienic. Friends kept pushing to try the chicken here claiming its to die for, lol. So glad I tried bc I would not step foot in there again. Feel like I need 3days detox. But I give it up to the super friendly workers there.

Hey. Here’s a long awaited shout out. I am giving the Divis. location 5 stars because they are the Badass of Popeye’s. When my co-workers or I can do a run… we all make that face when asked. That grinning, greasy fried chicken sounds good face. And they always say… Ur going to Divis? Actually, they serve up the least greasiest of the chain and their oil has always been clean. The location stinks and there’s always drama going on, but the chicken, biscuits and red beans/rice are killer. The staff are always on their toes and they are really nice. Well, they have to be to survive. Personally, I would not go here on a Tuesday special. I do not think I could handle it.

I swore I wrote a review for the first Popeye’s restaurant in San Francisco. «Oh well!» Nevertheless, I have been to this corner Popeye’s location many times and enjoyed eating the Fried Chicken here for a quick meal or grabbing a double-digit amount of pieces to take home or to parties. But this is my first visit since the remodel a few months back. They have added bright lights, two flat screen televisions and a Coke machine similar to Five Guy’s. So far, so good! My recent visit to the newly renovated restaurant, I was daring enough to try the«Ghost Pepper» wings. You need to wait five minutes for the wings to cook, which is good and noticeably fresh. For $ 3.99, the meal comes with one biscuit and six of the spiciest wings blended with lethal spices. Do not let the name scare you. The wings were indeed spicy, but tolerable enough for wimps like me. Despite not selling milk, it was a good thing the soda machine was close by to extinguish the flaming wings. The restaurant is enchanting now with the facelift. Credit cards are accepted.

Whenever I feel the urge to eat fried chicken I always pick popeye’s its just the best fried chicken out there. From the skin to juiciness of the chicken and all of their sides are delicious. I just wish they had more locations in the city. And most of the time the service is spot on. I would pick popeye’s over kfc anytime.

I really don’t even know what to write. But ill start with the biscuits. They were better than my grandmas! Boy, really took me back and the chicken. WOW! i think it was organic but I’m not sure. all i know is that when i cook fried chicken at home its not that good. Plus they have a serve yourself soda fountain. Thats great! keep up the good work Mr. Popeye.

I’m not saying I moved to the neighborhood just so I could eat here… but it’s sort of true. Wherever you live, you should have that guilty pleasure restaurant nearby. I’m talking about the«Excuse» restaurant. Whatever the excuse is(«I’m hungover, «I’m sad, «I had a bad day at work»), Popeyes satisfies. It’s greasy, delicious, and has a outrageous discount on Tuesdays. No one is saying it’s the next State Bird Provisions, but it makes me happy. PROTIP: Get the chicken. Be friendly when you order, you just might get an extra bbq sauce for free.

This is one of the better Popeyes Ive been to as far as being organized through the chaos of the mad limes they have sometimes and boy do they keep this place clean. As for the food. Well what can I say. Its so much better then KFC I wish they had more Popeyes locations around. I just luv the skin and juiciness of their chicken. The little cravers pack is delicious. They also do popcorn and butterfly shrimp just right. The only downside is Im not a fan of their fries. On Tuesday’s they have a great special 2 pieces for $ 1.49 and its jam packed in here. Lines out the door. Parking in the area sucks to high hell though.

In an ocean of restaurants in sf, I find this Popeyes to be an oasis for real good deep fried chicken. They just beat KFC hands down. I like it a lot.

They really need to get rid of that stale air in the shop that’s like leftover homeless stench. It’s just not classy for a fast food chain that has such a prime location right by Bi-Rite and Alamo Square Park. It was pretty dead inside with only a couple of tables eating there. Either most people get it to go or it’s just not very popular. Dropped by for a snack — spicy chicken drumstick and a biscuit for $ 2.09($ 2.27 after tax). The batter on the outside of the chicken was pretty awesome — very crispy with a slight spice, but not too spicy. However, it was a bit dry on the ends of the chicken, which leads me to wonder just how long they had been sitting out. I was there around noon on a Sunday, so I would think that turnover should be pretty high around then. The biscuit was not as fluffy as others(like in KFC), but it was still warm and quite fresh. They had both jam and butter to go with it. I didn’t really enjoy the butter, but I guess I couldn’t really expect too much. If you really are craving fried chicken though, definitely go with the spicy at Popeyes!

This Popeyes deserves five stars for being one of the original businesses on the block pre-gentrification, pre-NOMA. As a youngin, my family would drive out to Divisadero(which was much rougher back in the day) and have one of us hop out of the car and grab some delicious fried chicken from Popeyes. Another person would stay in the car with eyes toward the person buying the chicken to make sure no thugs were entering the store, doors locked and engine running, so that we could hurry out of the neighborhood as soon as we got our damn chicken! Glad you’re still here, Popeyes.

Always get your chicken spicy. Popeyes is legendary for me because I live 4 doors down from it. At 10am they start pumping delicious poultry smell into the neighborhood and that gets me salivating. By the time it’s lunch I’m just trying to decide if I want the 2 piece bonafide or the 5 piece tenders. Get the mashed potatoes or the Mac and cheese. Sweet tea rocks as well. Despite pigeons and beggars flocking to this particular location, I must say I’ve had some great times here while waiting for food. I once made friends with a traveling parrot(I’m not sure if she also ate chicken, that would be weird) and I also drunkenly started a restaurant wide rendition of YG’s Toot It and Boot It(oooooh whoa)

My partner and I decided to have Popeye’s chicken tonight as our«Friday fun food.» I had a coupon for his restaurant for 10 pieces of chicken, two sides and five biscuits for $ 19.99. While I placed the order, my partner searched for a parking space. That took him about five minutes. The restaurant didn’t have five mild pieces of chicken ready, but the kitchen provided them quickly. I wanted five pieces of spicy chicken and that was ready. The two young ladies at the counter quickly assembled our order and I checked it before we left. Once we got home, we realized that we were not told which pieces were spicy and which were mild so we had to taste the chicken to find out. The red beans and rice was very good and the biscuits were hot and fresh. So, the food was very good, but the service was mediocre. The counter staff should have told us which pieces were mild and which were spicy.

Sad the kitchen burned down recently at this location, glad no one got hurt. Hopefully they’ll be able to repair it and reopen this place soon. Unlike the Fillmore location, the food consistency at this store is usually very good(see my pics). On the other hand service at the register was just okay. The lack of parking doesn’t affect foot traffic as much, because people like to frequent the few bars and restaurants in this area. An added benefit of this corner location is getting business from people who couldn’t get into pricey and popular Nopa restaurant across the street.
