I will definitely come back, but will be more diligent about ensuring purchases are rung up properly next time around… One star for location. Loved being able to visit the book store and then walk down to the art shop. One star for selection. They have student grade supplies up to professional in all mediums. It’s a small shop with a big inventory. They had everything I went there for(I will spare you boredom and exclude my list.) One star for discounts and sales. They have a 10% student discount. During my visit, I used a 15% discount offered on Unilocal. There are also advertised sales which are printed and hung on the front door and near the register. Some merchandise has discount stickers showing a percentage off as well. One star for customer service. I have only been to this store once, but having a background in customer service and 2 years experience working in a local art shop I can safely say the staff here are friendly, knowledgable and helpful. I was asked if I needed any help by 2 different staff. That’s a plus. Another staff even assisted me with finding an easel that was on sale and stood with me for a few moments discussing my needs and other options. I’m leaving off one star due to their POS system and some confusion(which I completely understand!) with ringing up my sale items and adding the 15% off. The 15% off states that it is to be off of the entire purchase. Therefore, it should be applied to the entire purchase minus any discounts, but before taxes obviously. Well, they have an older POS register that caused a newer employee to have to manually enter the discount on all items. Unfortunately for me, she did not add 15% to any existing discount, but rather put the 15% onto items that were not already discounted. It seemed this was very new to her so I understand. However, I would have preferred someone else to give her some support instead of briefly and vaguely telling her what to do and then leaving her to figure it out on her own. Ultimately, I didn’t get the easel because even though the cashier was reminded about it needing to be rung up– it was not(I thought it was) and so after the transaction she informed me that she forgot to ring it up and would have to do it separately. She seemed quite perplexed on how to handle the situation, especially adding to it the fact that she accidentally rung up a couple of my art pads with an incorrect discount(putting 15% off instead of the stickered 30% off, etc). I decided to leave the easel and just leave it as is. If this were a corporate store I would have made sure to get my discounts properly, etc. because the bill should have been under $ 100 after 15% off the entire purchase… However, it’s a local shop and so I paid the $ 107 and merrily went on my way and gave that girl a smile and a thank you.

They are fine and people are usually helpful. They are all friendly but some of the younger groups can often seem too chatty with each other vs customers. They have a lot of neat finds. Probably best to ask for help but they leave you alone. Sometimes seems a bit cluttered but I know they can’t help it. Prices can’t really compete with the internet but its not horribly overpriced. It’s about on par if you can’t get free shipping. They usually are informative.

I needed to complete a craft for school and the staff there were extremely helpful and very friendly. They have great advice and showed me the art supplies I needed which were all in the store. They have a great selection of very good art supplies but also have some kits to do crafts. Overall a great experience. They also gave me a 10% discount for being a student!

I am a professional artist, and I love Village Art Supply. Zak, Kristen, and the entire staff are welcoming, knowledgable, and fun. I do all of my art business here. They produce outstanding giclées, and are competitive in their pricing. They make their customers feel like rock stars. I enjoy my frequent visits, and whole-heartedly recommend them for artists looking for products, or the highest quality reproductions available. Plus, they are just nice people. There are always people in the store because the word has spread about how helpful the staff are and how well stocked the store is. Check it out for yourself. It is a geat store! And look for Kumi, their little dog who hangs out behind the counter. You can’t help but smile.

I’ve never framed any photos until I stumbled upon this shop. The staff is extremely friendly, even took me to the back room and showed me some techniques so I could assemble them myself to save a little off the labor costs. This is definitely a shop that I would love to support more if I lived in the area(I was visiting from out of town).

The staff here helped me frame a special canvas that was nearly 5×7 feet big. It was bigger than their work table and bigger than would fit in my car even after it was stretched. It turned out beautiful and my friend and his(daughter, the artist) were thrilled to have this piece now in the wall. Add to that the owners went above and beyond to help me tie it to the top of my car to get it delivered in time for Christmas. Excellent customer service and top quality work. Thank you once again.

This store has a great selection of supplies — they are very knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy. They let me come in with my dogs… and even give em treats. I go to a lot of art stores… these guys stand out!

BEST custom framing around. I recently had two pieces framed here and was blown away by the warm and friendly customer service as well as the work they did. I wish I had noted the names of the wonderful woman and her husband who worked on my project(think they were the owners), but they truly went above and beyond. They noticed a problem with the canvas being framed and went out of their way to reinforce the frame and take care of it. It’s the type of service that’s rare to find anymore, and the reason I avoid big-box stores. I would highly recommend Village for your framing projects — they do the best work, and find the most cost-effective way to make it happen. They really did everything they could to stay within my budget, worked quickly and I couldn’t be happier with the results!

I love shopping at Village Art Supply! Since the new owners have taken over, they’ve ramped up their inventory and offer so many new products. Their staff is friendly and helpful. If they don’t have it, I’m fairly certain they will order it for you. They have a large supply of paints, sketch pads, drawing supplies, etc. They even offer fax and copy services!

Mecca for all professional artists, students, newbies and kids! How they have such a huge and wonderful selection of pretty much everything in such a cute shop, I’ll never know. The owners are a delight and they employ real artists to help me/customers. Which is a real help when I get stuck or need advice pro to pro. There are many art places to go but I am devoted and loyal to Village Art Supply. They know their stuff, offer great sales and discounts, wonderful custom framing too and? If they don’t have it? Can have it ordered for me in a few days. Truly, if you need anything — even just cute pens and fantastic stationary — Village Art Supply should be stop 1.

My favorite mom & pop art supply store. Friendly service, good lighting, excellent selection and standard prices. I miss this place so much. I moved to SoCal and art supply is the guy down the street in the stained wifebeater. This place is a gem.

I love this store, as the staff and owners are artists themselves and have been of great help to me in suggesting ways to solve various art problems. I mainly do collage and altered books, although I enjoy workshops of all kinds, and have been to workshops on Altered Trading Cards at this store as well. The store has a great selection of paper and frames. The parking in the Montgomery Village shopping center is easy and one can park close to the front door. The staff is creative in helping one solve a problem, whether it’s what kind of adhesive to use for a project, to suggestions on matting and framing, to gift suggestions.
