The Pawn Advantage

Not a very good selection very small store. I have been to much better pawn shops than this one. It really felt like the staff was not interested in doing business with me at all. I showed the owner of very nice $ 25 half ounce American Gold Eagle coin I had just picked up and the first thing he said was it’s probably a fake! He scrutinized it with his Jewelers loop for a while so I expected perhaps he would give me a approximate estimate of its value although it’s not for sale. No he just gave it back to me and continued to tell me about all the fake gold going around? I know for a fact my half ounce American Eagle is 24K. All I really wanted was to buy a gold chain to go with my nice gold piece. Did not want any lectures about fake stuff. The jewelry showcase was weak sauce nothing I would be interested in. I noticed some silver rounds for sale but they were priced at double spot price? Anyone foolish enough to buy one of those would never recoup their investment. This is a 1 star pawn shop I imagine they make all of their money off of the poor homeless population in Santa Rosa. Probably pay pennies on the dollar to the poor depraved homeless that bring in valuables. The pawn business here in California seems very shady and seedy much unlike other states and countries where pawnbrokers are mostly friendly reputable business people looking to loan out a few bucks for someone in need or help someone get something they could not otherwise afford new. Steer clear of this place there is no advantage shopping here

avoid this place, why? these punks are liars and scumbags here is my true story, on febuary 15^th i called before hand to get a loan amout for my 300 dollar beats pill xl sound speaker and i told dave i wanted to get a loan and i didnt wish to sell so he quoted me on the phone a loan amout of 65.00 i took a bus from rohnert park to santa rosa to visit and again do more business with this pawn shop who mistreats and lies to its previous customers so here is exactly what transpired i arrived at this pawn shop at 330 pm and i came into the store with no customers of course i asked to speak top dave and this asshole named david lied and said he spoke to me on the phone so i took his word for it and he forensically examined my loan piece which was working just fine when i came into the store blazing my beats from my cell phone showing these nefarious bad people the shit works just fine and they heard it but decided to play this game of bait and switch exactly what used car sales man use to trick car buyers and these fuckers didnt know i have a good buddy who taught me their tactics so i already knew their game, the nefarious liars and con men are the lowest form of working scum besides used car sales men and lawyers. oksay this dave bastard told me he would loan out 35.00 not 65.00 that was already approved before hand when i called earliar and i was upset obviously so i raised my voice in displeasure of course and they treated me like some homeless drug addict that is shit on their shoes this is how i was treated, doesnt matter if im a repeat customer this asshole named david is a real life piece of shit human garbage lying asshole so i left the store bitter and upset for their lies and abuse so dont pawn here let these assholes go out of business oh yes they accept stolen bikes my bike was stolen and i found it here at this pawn shop in 2009 please google pawn advantage santa rosa and p[lease read a customers bad experience with these scumbags on the site

I walked into Pawn Advantage on 4^th street in downtown Santa Rosa with $ 500 cash and a desire to purchase a used DSLR camera for my daughter as a Christmas gift.
I said exactly that to the salesman as I asked to see one in the display case. I explained that I don’t know much about DSLRs and was hoping he could guide me in my purchase since he had several to choose from.
Here’s where things went bad… He was extremely UNHELPFUL right from the start. I asked if he knew much about the cameras they had for sale and he said he did. I asked if he might explain the basic differences or pros and cons between the one I’d chosen and the others. He replied that «they all work and have a 7-​day return policy.» I said since «I don’t know a lot about these kinds of cameras and you do, can you tell me which camera might be a good choice for a beginner.»
He replied that if I had «specific questions» about a camera he would answer them but that he couldn’t say anything else. I told him I just needed a little help. He then said that he has folks «come in everyday who know all about the things they wanna buy» and that I need to go to a retail camera store for more help with all my questions. I said again that since I didn’t know a lot about the items he was selling, I’d hoped he could tell me a little about them so I could make a good choice. He told me that I need to go online and learn all about cameras so that I would know exactly what I needed.
I tried once more by saying that I didn’t have time to «learn all about cameras» and that’s why I was asking him to simply do his job by offering basic customer service and exhibit a willingness to interact pleasantly with a potential customer that has cash in his pocket and a few questions before buying…
He looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language! I mean, c’mon… Do you wanna sell that thing or not?
I said as I left the store that I guess I wasn’t gonna spend any money in his store today — and he said… «I guess you’re not!»
Avoid this place at all costs if you’re looking for anything that passes as civility or customer service. I’d give it 5 negative stars if that were an option.

Should be ZERO stars.
The owner of this slimy place should be put out of business, and I will attempt to sue them. Not only was I lied to, but my merchandise was essentially stolen from me. NEVER do business with pawn shops, no matter what.
And, to anyone purchasing from this pathetic excuse for a «business,» think twice. You are profiting off of the misery of others.
My complaint is not settled yet.

Weirdly uncluttered for a pawn shop, also very focused/​limited on the type of merch they display. Heaps of jewelry, can’t tell you anything about that though. Highlight for me is a decent selection of $ 2 used DVDs in good shape to browse here and there. Saw an old dusty Ninja Gaiden 2 NES cart there a few weeks ago that I almost impulse bought for childhood nostalgia, but then I was like, «Where the fuck would I put this and how would I explain it to women.» Could be a decent source of a beater guitar/​amp too, they have piles. Also see some decent bikes sitting around from time to time too.
Haven’t had to hock anything yet, will get back to you if it comes down to that.

I just went in to sell a gold bracelet unaware of the price of gold. The guy gave me 125.00 for the bracelet, and then other jewelers quoted me more than double that. Do not go here these people are scam artists.

Cheap but excellent quality merchandise and helpful staff. Bought a gold ring and was very happy with the price.
