I love, love, love this place and I cannot wait till they reopen in their new location.

The food is fine here. I had their«pasta» which is actually thin-cut zucchini in a tomato sauce and their cheesecake. Both were very tasty. However, I feel like I paid way too much for food that wasn’t anything special. I could have made the exact same thing at home for a lot less money. Also, our server was horrible. She was rude and rolled her eyes when my dining companion asked a question about something on the menu. I was really shocked, especially in a restaurant with such unique things on the menu, that the server seemed so irritated by a simple question. So why am I really not going back? As I walked back past the kitchen to the bathroom, I spotted both our snooty waitress and the chef plating food for other people dining there. Both were licking their fingers. Gross.

Man, I love this place. The Vegan brunch RULES. It’s expensive, like all other raw food places, but anytime I can afford it, I rush to the doors. It sucks because they have kind of strange hours, so I can’t go very often. It’s super duper small, but never really insanely busy, as it’s on a residential street. They serve cucumber water, which is one of my favorite things of all time. I LOVE raw dessert. Their«cheezcake» is some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s made of cashews, lemon flavored, and drizzled with a strawberry purée. The staff is very friendly. My favorite thing to get there is the tofu benedict during sunday brunch. Best I’ve ever had!

I was in SR for business and looked on Unilocal for a cool place to eat… local and vegan are things I support. Seed is small, cute and friendly and the food was great. Counter service, small dining area, live flowers on the tables, food made with love.

I LOVEVEGANFOOD! However, this place is way overpriced!, lacks flavor, too small portions, and rude staff. I went there many times because i was wanting a raw vegan restaurant close to home for years, but every time i went there it was closed! The one time i went to seed i was let down. My food was lacking flavor, the coffee was cold, my server didn’t barely say two words to me and i could hear the staff giggling in the back the whole time i was trying to eat my meal. I was never asked how my food was and i was given a dirty water glass. do not recommend this place unless u like tasteless food and an awkward setting

With their creative and aromatic menu — I’ve had melty, gooey, sensual vegan pumpkin pasta, a chocolate pie that is magically made out of avocado and makes you feel like you’re discovering the 8th natural wonder, and hearty, spicy«sloppy joes» — Seed has my favorite vegan food in California. If this place were better globally positioned, it would be constantly packed with everyone from restaurant trendsters to raw food hippies. There would be a waiting list for the Sunday brunch, and not everyone who showed up would be able to get in. But fortunately for Bay Area vegans and taste-lovers, Seed is currently small, totally unpretentious, very reasonably priced, and somehow, mostly still a secret– so you can really impress your hot vegan date, if you’ve got that kinda game.

So Seed is finally open again, and I was so excited to come back for brunch on New Year’s Day. Unfortunately, I was really let down by the experience. All I really wanted was one of those big delicious cinnamon rolls, but they weren’t on the menu. Instead I ordered a new dish, the tofu scramble, which came with tempeh bacon and toast with mango jam. I love the tempeh bacon I make at home, so my hopes were high. The food took a ridiculously long time to get to our table, made worse by my ravenous New Year’s hungover state. The toast was kind of cold by the time I got it, but I did like the mango jam. The tempeh bacon was way too sweet and not bacony at all. The tofu scramble was soggy and so bland I had to ask for salt and pepper, and by the time I got it the scramble was cold but I ate it anyway because I was so hungry. The two other parties seemed to be having a pretty bad time, too. For some reason we got our food before the people who were sitting down and had already ordered when we entered the restaurant, so I felt awfully sorry for them. At the other table, two diners had to inform the server of cold coffee and a dirty glass. I might give Seed another chance, because I really want to have vegan restaurants in town, but they’re going to have to learn how to run their business better if they want to succeed.

Update: I received a really positive message from Seed regarding a customer service issue. I’m bumping my rating up one star; for me, responsive management is a key indicator of a great place. Food: Very good food though sparsely presented in smallish portions. Flavor profiles were interesting. Textures were good. There are extremely creative menu offerings. Lots of good news on the vegan food front at Seed. I’m not sure my non-veggie friends would find satisfying selections unless they were salad hungry. I will definitely go back. I root for success of this vegan restaurant.

DELICIOUS Sunday brunch. I always order the Seed Benedict, but last time I was here my BF ordered the biscuits and gravy and that was also very, very good. I’ve ordered the sangria and was pleasantly surprised at the GENEROUS size… The fruit was delicious and I could stop drinking it! Service is always quite personable, and when Jeri’s around she’s happy to explain what goes into each dish. Unfortunately this vegan paradise is CLOSED for the next month or so, to open at a new location. Seed On the Go is still open next door, and they have awesome lunch options, but I will surely miss the best vegan brunch EVER for the next few weeks!

Agreed! Sunday Brunch at Seed is a vegan dream! My mother and I found this restaurant online and drove out there very unsure of where we were going. We arrived and took one look at the menu and were smiling ear to ear. I’m new to being a vegan so when I saw my breakfast, I was as excited as a kid in a candy store. I had the avocado tofu scramble benedict(on the menu it has a better name) and it was fabulous. My mother had one of the quiches and it was, again, fabulous. We started with the savory fruit salad which I have to say left me in awe. This is my new favorite! I can’t wait to go back.

I was able to catch up with a friend over lunch at Seed on Friday. I had looked forward to checking out this Vegan restaurant. Not a Vegie myself, but definitely a foodie, that enjoys exploring restaurants that offer something different. After driving down a couple streets, I found this little restaurant tucked away among houses in a kind of funky part of Santa Rosa. Not a bad part, but unsuspecting, in a neighborhood kind of way. This is a small restuarant, but nicely decorated, relaxing atmosphere. I was happy to see they had a Chefs Tasting Plate on their starters menu. Perfect, because there were so many things I wanted to try. My friend had the Zuchini Marinara with Ceaser Salad. I sampled the Zuchini Marinara and it was creative and good… I love zuchini, but never had it plated up like pasta, delicious. My plate had corn chowder(cold) yummy, stuffed mushroom with a Klamata tapenade, OMG in a good way., corn chip with Jalepeno crème, one just wasnt enough, flavorful to the max, green salad, pretty good. Bruschetta Pizza so good, more please! and cashew egg salad, how did they do that? I loved it all, our waitress was sweet and attentive, she really added to the good vibe of the restaurant. Split a Brownie ice cream thingy for desert, hemp brownie with really yummy coconut milk ice cream… not too sweet, but really tasty. I like this place, I would go back, and I hope you visit it to!!!

I think that this place is awesome! The lunches are very filling and very affordable considering the preparation time and quality for this type of food. I like their Mexican Salad the most, so far. not to mention, you feel fabulous after eating here! The service is great, too. The ONLY downside to this place is that because it is so tiny, you are forced to over hear everyone else’s conversation. Also, it does seem to attract some real weird-os and pretentious veggies, so unfortunately you’ll have to deal with that in your space. It’s interesting though because the restaurant itself and the owners/staff aren’t pretentious at all.

First off, I’m not a vegetarian, let alone a VEGAN. But, I am pretty obsessed with healthy food and let’s face it, raw vegan cuisine is as healthy as it gets. I didn’t know quite what to expect from Seed, but we found that the food was extremely flavorful and surprisingly filling. We had some curried pea soup(cold, of course), a tostada thing with nut butter and raw veggies(strange combo, I know), and the lemon«cheese“cake with fresh strawberry sauce and macadamia crust, which was way too good to be dairy-free. It’s a very small, tranquil little place so if you feel like having a squealing girl-talk session over lunch, this isn’t the best spot. I’ve been for lunch twice — once with mom, once with a vegetarian co-worker — and they were both amazed by how delicious vegan food could be. The location is a bit odd, in a residential area, but makes for a nice little getaway from the downtown scene. I thought the prices were a little high for the small portions, but I guess it’s a bit laborious to come up with edible dishes without the luxury of using heat or animal-products. But, they pull it off quite well. I wouldn’t recommend bringing your carnivorous, steak-loving, boyfriend, but it’s a fun experience to share with an adventurous friend. And really, you won’t be hungry when you leave.

We are vegan and we know good vegan food. This is definitely not good. Unsatisfying and bland. Misleading menu descriptions are annoying. We both had stomach aches for hours after eating here.

Mmmmmmmmmmm!!! Came here for Sunday Brunch. Had the seed benedict, which was filling and spectacular tasting. Also split a sticky bun with friends, which tasted delicious, just like the real thing. The coffee was good, the service was attentive(although our food took FOREVER) and the atmosphere is quite enjoyable. I’ll definitely be back, in hopes of trying more on the menu. I hope its inconspicuous location doesn’t serve to harm the restaurant — I really want to see Seed do good.

I am not a vegan, infact, I really really like meat a lot, that being said — and knowing what this restaurant was, it still peaked my curosity, and I took the dining companion here for Sunday Brunch. The coffee — delicious(although luke warm) The Carrot Ginger soup with Jalapeño’s. good — although I was half expecting it to be warm, or at least room temp rather than as cool as it was(the temp seemed to mask some of the flavors) Dining companion had the chili bowl with salad, which he liked, although he’s not usually a fan of tofu cheese — he said the flavors were pretty good, and he’d eat it again. I had the«sausage» and eggsalad with side salad — it also was good. here is my ‘beef’ with the place(and other things faux meat) why call it sausage and eggsalad, when it was actually savory rounds of dates with spices, and a creamed cashew mix? That kinds bothers me, I would totally appreciate it, and prolly like it even more, if you just call it what it is, it takes the guesswork out of what you are eatting. I knew it wasn’t actually eggsald, but I had to ask what it WAS, cause the menu didn’t specify. What if I was actually allergic to say cashews? The items were delightful, and I’d return — I just wish the menu, rather than trying to dress the items up as ‘typical things you’d see in a normal(?) traditional(?) not sure the right word there on the menu” I’d rather see them celebrate the diversity that is that menu. oh, and I’d totally go back for the carrot ginger soup, and possibly the watermelon soup — but i’d let it sit on my table and get a little bit closer to room temp next time to release the flavors. ps our waitress looked to be about 13 or 14, and was so attentive and cute. it was very sweet to see her try to carry each of the items without dumping them to the table — great job, and she acted very mature.

Sunday brunch at Seed is a vegan dream. The menu is also loaded with raw-food options. I highly recommend the vegan cinnamon roll drenched in a delicious faux-cream cheese icing. I have been craving one every morning since going there. I intend to satisfy that craving again and again. I also enjoyed the breakfast nachos. The tofu scramble topping is seasoned just right, unlike most restaurants who abuse their turmeric privilege. Thank you Seed for such great food and service.

Live Vegan Cuisine My friend had the pizza(which i was not a huge fan of but I don’t really like italiany things) and I had the tostada(which was deliciously topped with this sunflower«bean» stuff and a generous helping of avocado). Saved room for a scoop of the coconut-based chocolate ice cream — came with whipped cream and a real cherry on top! Even got a free sample of some crazy avocado based chocolate truffley thing. The staff was super friendly — joking around with us and understanding of my carniverous friend’s questions and critiques. This place is a bit hard to find as it is tucked away in a residential looking area. But once you get inside, it is a nice cozy atmosphere. Overall a taste-bud pleasuring experience. I would recommend it for the vegan and non-vegan alike. They cater to other dietary restrictions(wheat, gluten, etc.), have a to-go place next door, and a special Sunday brunch that I hear is worthwhile.
