I’ve driven by this place hundreds of times and noted the parking lot is always full so last night I couldn’t resist dropping in. Looking for something light, I was tempted by the lamb shanks on the menu but opted for the sole piccata special, my date had a side of spaghetti marinara. We shared calamari friti and house salad and I substituted polenta for the mashed potatoes. I’m a sucker for polenta. Place was busy, very casual, a bit noisy and clearly patronized by long-term locals who bounced from table to table sharing wines, yarns, etc. Wine list was intelligent. Food was exceptional! Portions were huge! Polenta was the best I’ve had in the New World. Prices were very reasonable. Service could have been a bit more attentive however we learned Roberto’s will close this weekend so the waitstaff was very occupied pumping hands, hugging and being hugged by their long time regular patrons. My only regret is that I never stopped in before last night and, well, now Roberto’s is history. If the ownership opens another restaurant, you can bet I will be a regular.

After an exhausting weekend for our son’s wedding my husband and I spent a night in Santa Rosa before heading home to the Bay Area. Stopped into Roberto’s and had a wonderful Italian meal. Don’t let and location or slightly tired façade fool you, there are good things going on inside. I had veal scallopini and Brad had the halibut filet special. I have not had veal in ages, what a treat because it was done to perfection. The food was excellent. Great wine list, freshest bread and a peach bellini rounded out the meal. Our waiter was welcoming and attentive. We will definitely go back when in Santa Rosa again.

If you are looking for authentic traditional Italian food, this is the place… this was my first time here but was with longtime Italian residents who suggested… and they were soooo right! it was a long day after a wine competition and subsequent appetizers at a high end winery… we were hungry and Roberto’s filled the bill… there were 12 of us and we were given our own room… yes, we are a little loud… i had a lovely spinach soup, seasoned perfectly which was a great opener for my spaghetti n meatballs… ok, so you’re goin, why go there doug? because these were handmade meatballs and i judge a place by their sauce n «balls»…both were magnifico! the pasta was perfect… and satisfying… comfort food… others in the group had osso bucco, calamari, crabcakes, petrale sole, and raviolis… all were wonderful as we shared bites… i love that… all of the above we paired with a lovely Trecini Sauvignon Blanc!!! Thanks Cathy… I will be coming back soon… mille grazie!

06÷23÷15: Two diners for Early Bird specials. Ordered Veal Marsala with Green Beans and Polenta. First had bread & butter(good soft/chewy bread), and Cream of Asparagus soup. Finished up splitting a slice of Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis, and Coffee. Nothing special about food or service, nor«early bird prices»: $ 17.00 plate and $ 7.50 for a slice of cheesecake. Location not great, décor/atmosphere/cleanliness need attention. Seems like it has seen better days. I’ve been here before, and did not like it then either. But dining partner likes this place. Bread and butter good(bread fresh, soft, chewy). Veal okay but hiding/smothered in a thick gravy-like sauce that was extremely salty. Green beans been sitting around, overcooked, soggy. Lump of polenta was flavorless and kind of congealed. Did not seem very fresh. Cream of Asparagus soup was actually pretty good. Cheesecake not fresh, dry, and did not have proper graham cracker crust. Coffee– meh. Waitperson not very pleasant, hurrying us, was impatient. It’s extremely loud and though I was sitting in a booth, about 1 ½ feet from dining partner, I strained to hear them speak. Two stars.

Hit or miss but sometimes great. Had an osso bucco and it was fantastic. Well cooked, tender, rich and flavorful-among the best I have ever had. In the past I’ve had a rib eye steak that was less than ½″ thick, leathery, way over cooked. My booth mate had the same experience. Ordered the filet minion last night. Thick and definitely a filet but miles from tender and poorly cooked. The service is best described as ambivalent. The person next to me also ordered the filet but medium as opposed to my rare. I double checked when the waiter brought the food. «Is this the rare one?» He eyeballed it and swapped the plates. Both were medium, dry and required the hefty knife they supplied. We ordered dessert and because it was a large group he just brought out a bunch of each item and then had to go back for corrections. I had a bite of the salmon and it was tender and delicious.

Friends who have eaten here before insisted we try it, so we all went together. Glad we did. Arrived earlier than our reservation and seated with no problem. We were in time for the«early bird dinners»(4:00 — 6:00), though only tow of us ordered from the early bird menu. The interior is a bit dark, though nice. A full bar runs a good length of the dining area. Three TVs were tuned to baseball, soccer, and basketball. Service was good — efficient and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Portions are large. Food is very good. Salmon special was«melt in your mouth.» Came with good mashed potatoes and nice green beans cooked just right. Two veal dishes were delicious. Salads(we had a misto, Caesars, and a «Roberto’s») were fine. Calamari della casa was very good, but may be a bit spicy for some tastes.(Calamari fritti is also available.) We don’t drink, but as mentioned above, there’s a full bar and a wine list. We will be back. Some of the best Italian we’ve had in the area.

WONDERFUL. Mom’s 87 year old cousin Virginia, was celebrating her birthday. Mom, my brother, husband and I took her out for dinner. At the last minute we decided to go to Robertos and everyone in our party was glad we did. Mario greeted us warmly at the door and helped seat the cousins. Mom is losing her sight and walks with great difficulty using a cane. Louie was our server. What a fun team Mario and Louie make. Between the two of them and the helper(sorry I didn’t get his name), our table didn’t want for anything. Water glasses were filled regularly, bread brought out when we needed it. Anything we needed or wanted was brought to us promptly. And the food. Everything was wonderful. Bountiful and delicious. Wine, coffee, entrees, desserts were delicious ! AND very reasonable as well. The entire wait staff came out to sing happy birthday to the birthday girl and congratulate her on her day. It was lovely. Upon leaving, everyone got a handshake or hug from Mario and Louie. It was like we were leaving their home after having a great dinner. Just wonderful. It is easy to see why this was one of our Uncle’s favorite restaurants. Our only regret is that we don’t live in the area and can only frequent this restaurant infrequently. But I’ll be back in May for a few days and we’ll be sure to drop in for dinner.

Excellent service, delicious food. Every time I visit this establishment, the staff is very courteous and has a great sense of humor. Parking is a little rough around the edges, but the food, service, and atmosphere are great. I recommend this restaurant to everyone and hope it never changes!

Food is really good, service is great, atmosphere is classic but blown away that they still use styrofoam containers! Seriously — where else are they cutting pennies at the expense of the environment or health? I am embarrassed for them.

Roberto and his staff are very attentive and this is a local favorite. We have always had a great meal and experience at Trattoria Lupo and look forward to it each time we go. Great bar and remodeled dining room. Do try this locally owned restaurant. I guarantee you’ll love it!

I have had the pleasure of attending several gatherings here and the only problem was there were too many people enjoying themselves. Not much of a problem really. I seem to stick with the lamb shank, served on a bed of creamy polenta and I have never been disappointed. Started off with an excellent Ceasar salad, not too much garlic or parmesan, just right. Tiramisu came along for dessert, which was enjoyed along with a nice cappuccino. I have seen their staff as professional and willing to be a little playful and that makes this a comfortable environment. What more could you ask for, good food, comfortable and friendly environment. I would hope some of the folks that have not felt the same way might try it again.

Robertos, Tattoria Lupo holds a special place in my heart. Owned by Roberto Catania, this place has been a staple of Italian food in Sonoma County for over 20 years. Whether you’re looking for fresh pasta or a heartier meal this place will have something for any Italian cuisine enthusiast.

Their creamy pesto is phenomenal! My boyfriend had their steak and it was delicious. We also had their calamari and the house special calamari and for me(someone who doesn’t eat much seafood) they were yummy! We have come here twice with my boyfriend on a date, we enjoy it and definately will keep coming(: their waiters are so attentive as well

I’m not a big gnocchi fan, but the bartender talked me into trying it. It’s fantastic… best I’ve ever tried. Bartender, John and owner, Roberto are both fantastic. I’ll be back for sure.

We LOVE this place. Food, atmosphere, service — everything is always on spot. We have never ordered anything and disliked it. They have a pretty extensive wine list. The truffle pappardelle is AMAZING. I order it almost every time. A true neighborhood gem.

The food is outstanding, the ambiance is great, the price seemed a little high, and the staff is hit or miss. We had one waiter that assumed we were ordering something when we asked a question about it. So that was a little frustrating but Roberto wasn’t there that night.

Good servie and yummy food. I will be back. I went to Roberto’s on a Monday night to try out the prime rib special. I shared a bottle of Zinfandel that went wonderfully with the prime rib. It was, in fact, the best prime rib that I’ve had — better than House of Prime Rib in San Francisco, in my opinion. The owner Roberto is an awesome guy. I plan on trying the Italian fare next time I’m there unless they have that Prime Rib special. This place is a definite recommendation.

I love this place. Our family has our favorite orders… shitake ravioli, polenta and sausage… Roberto and his staff are always wonderful! They have great bar with drinks that are well made, great wine list and they have a reasoanble corkage fee. They have a great happy hour too! Robeto is almost always there and welcoming to everyone! He will even share a glass of wine with you! Enjoy!

WAYTOOEXPENSIVE! We came here for my birthday dinner and $ 23ish for 5 shrimp, mashed potatoes and broccoli, nope! It was good, but worth about $ 12, if that. My husband ordered chicken parm, that came with the same sides btw and he said it wasn’t anything special. Service was attentive. 1 star for the wine menu 1 star for the service
