I just left the place(notice I didn’t refer to the place as a restaurant) paid $ 50 for 1) Watered down chili verde, that had no flavor at all. Asked for flower totillas, was givin ONE burrito size tortilla. Also ordered fish tocos that was like it had been nuked in a microwave 2) The orchata was caca. All ice with a stale taste. I was able to finish a fountain drink, the one thing that didn’t lack flavor. Their so called salsa bar was is a joke. I’ve had better salsa out of a jar. If I was able to make this a 0 star rating, even that’s giving the place more than it deserves, To the young lady Stephanie A, who posted her comments on 6÷4÷2015, she pretty much hit the nail on the head. Everything from the service being NOT people friendly, VERYRUDE. Guy behind the counter was a complete @$$ hole when we voiced our dislike for and about the place. Paper plates and plastic spoons, and Styrofoam cups and an empty parking lot, should have been the 1st indication that THISPLACE is no where near serving any type of authentic Mexican food.

Great experience. Incredibly kind service at the counter. The two super burritos we had were delicious. We weren’t expecting to pay $ 9.45 for each burrito based upon the picture of the menu we saw here on Unilocal,so they worked with us and charged us what we thought it was going to cost($ 7.20). Feeling that taken care of makes me want to go back, especially after tasting the great burritos! $ 9.45 is a little steep, but I would probably still go back for the food and great service.

Fast and curious service. I ordered a well done cheeseburger with pickled carrot relish and pico de gallo and a lemonade. There’s a working handicap accessible entrance. It seems to be a clean and quiet restaurant. Next time I’ll be bold and try the fish or shrimp burrito.

I have very bad news… this place cooks just about everything in a microwave. They are not environmentally friendly since they serve ALLFOOD on a Styrofoam plates with plastic silverware and Styrofoam drink cups. We just weren’t impressed and it fell in the category of, «dislike». I wish I had something positive to say. They do have a salsa bar. But it’s also«Meh»

I thought i would never taste real«old school» Sonoran food again. This is the only mexican restaurant I have eaten at here in Northern California that knows how to make red sauce. I worked in a Mexican restaurant in LA years ago that had been founded in 1946 and this place reminds me of the old Casa Janara. Now if only we can get a place that makes real Menudo!

The aesthetics of the restaurant is okay but the food is great! At least what I usually order which is a grilled chicken taco with rice & beans. Let me tell you, their beans and rice are my absolute favorite! It’s so flavorful and delicious and the tacos are pretty good too. Their portions are also nice. If I am usually craving for some authentic Mexican food, I normally come here.

Just had the worst taco I have ever had in my life at this place. Carne Asada. Huge, completely tasteless blob with some carrots, and a topping of bland guacamole. I took one bite and could not believe how bad it was, so I took another. Wow! Horrible. There was no flavor whatsoever. No cilantro, no onion, no peppers, or hot sauce of any kind, and to top it all off the folks behind the counter were not friendly. Needless to say, I will NOT be returning.

My normal place on Piner was closed, as it was some sort of a holiday(forgot which one). So I tried out El Azteca Service I was completely underwhelmed. The staff may have been resentful that they had to work on a holiday, but there was no urgency in anything they did. Took forever to get my simple order out(i was the only one there). Food Again, very underwhelming, the burritos were loosely rolled so they practically fell apart even with the aluminum foil still on it. The contents were 80% rice, 15% beans and a sprinkling of cheese and meat. They give you like 2 tortilla chips, and there salsa was meh. It was over $ 30 for two burritos and a quesadilla. I think I may have been over charged, actually I hope I was, because that is an unreasonable sum for the order.

My favorite place( ) was closed and I wanted a burrito bad so I came here famished late one night. I was so weak from hunger I could hardly open the door and walk in, but I was able to cast my order: «Chili verde burrito to go…» I was the only person there and it was near closing. Bad time to be ordering food! They were cleaning up… getting ready to go home. «If I don’t get this burrito I will die…» I thought. I heard a lot of slamming of doors… like microwaves, refrigerators… you name it. At last they plopped this big bomber of a burrito in the plastic bag and I was out the door to live another day. I did not expect much because I ate here before and did not like their food — so devastating was my review that the people who wear jack-boots and black leather coats at Unilocal deleted it… but back at Sofie’s place with a big tumbler of VMLs Bradford Zin and my new found friend the Azteca burrito I experienced a new love! Delicious chunks of juicy pork surrounded by a spicy verde sauce which mingled the taste of peppers, pork, pinto beans and rice… I could not believe El Azteca could«deliver» such a last minute masterpiece. I recommend you not wait until near starvation to enjoy El Azteca… but if that’s what it takes — you owe it to yourself to enjoy their food.

Good food all around, huge portions. Decided to get three tacos, any other plane no problem. These tacos are huge. After two I’m stuffed, guess I know what my midnight snack will he. My wife got the vegy burrito, she enjoyed it as well. They have a salsa bar, from medium heat to oh yea. This place has been around for years and there is a reason for that. Good food, big portions, and a good price.

Best mexican food EVER. They cater to everyones needs, big fat super burritos that will feed a family, traditional mexican food, american food for the kids, and tons of choices for the picky eater. They will make you what you want, and how you want it all for an amazing price. Family owned and they truly care about the customer. Delicioso

Beans and rice were too salty and the taquitos were too dry. Good portions but poorly prepared

Wanting a small portion of nachos, I found their website online and it said they did small lunch portions for $ 6.25 or $ 7.25 with meat. I went in, asked for the small nacho and was told, «We only have one size. Look up at the menu, it’s #9.» I told him his website said different and he just looked at me and said, «Do you want the #9 or what?» Reluctantly I ordered the regular nacho for $ 7.50 and quickly regretted it. The chips were like salt licks literally white with salt. The beans were burnt and dried out. There were a couple pieces of unmelted shredded cheese and a WHOLETUB of sour cream. I never knew it to be possible to mess up nachos so bad. There are SOOOO many other great Mexican restaurants in the area, I will never be going back here.

Great food and salsa bar! I’ve been coming here for years and will continue to patronize. It’s a small family run operation which makes some great food; my favorite being the grilled chicken flying saucer(huge tostada). If you’re in NW Santa Rosa and craving some Mexican, this is a great choice.

I normally love this place but I recently went there with my husband and had a hair in my burrito. Need I say more… They did refund my money which was appropriate but as for cleanliness it was not so good.

I have been searching on Unilocal for a high-quality, lower-cost taco and burrito place that is reasonably close to home. I went here after reading mostly excellent reviews, and I was pretty happy I went. I had a chicken Super Burrito, and the kid had a Steak super-duper burrito. The meats in both were really well prepared and good quality. My burrito came with Chicken(shredded and a bit on the bland side), sour cream and guacamole, but oddly no rice or beans. I tend to go for the simpler meat+rice+beans+salsa recipe, so I should have asked first — I think the standard burrito is closer to what I actually like. I should have asked so no fault of the restaurant. The kid’s was loaded with just what he wanted, I did not hear a word from him during the 10 minutes it took to consume, which I took that as a good sign. Nice, clean place, no nonsense, and fairly good pricing, but I would not characterize it as a «cheap eats» place. For the two of us, we were out the door for about $ 19, tax & tip, no Bev’s. I will go back, but I will try a few of the others I found here first.
