We stopped in with friends for wine tasting. The proprietor was warm and friendly, and very attentive to our palates. She took time to understand what we wanted to try, and even created a custom desert wine flight for my husband. We had a lovely time and bought some bottles. The bonus is that they are also a deli so you can get delicious food too!

This place is great if you are looking for some wine knowledge or just a chill tasting experience. I enjoy the atmosphere and the hospitable staff. Sky is a gem and I recommend tasting with him. They have a very interesting range of wine here. A great place!

Not quite the tasting room experience that you would expect. It is more of a deli with a wine bar. There are better places to go. I will say that the service and staff were very attentive and nice though.

I have stopped here several times for a sandwich. I have ordered a couple of different ones, including the Nuevo Cubano, but my favorite is something they justifiably call«The Bomb.» A pile of pastrami, pickles, melted cheese and who-cares-what-else, warmed on a fresh dutch crunch roll, makes for a warm ooey-gooey messy delight. Certainly not a low-cal option, but it is satisfying and delicious. This is a fine and simple spot to sit and have your lunch, or you can take it out onto courthouse square on a sunny day. For my money, this is the best sandwich downtown.

Sky and Charlie made my whole experience. Very nice and down to earth. Sky, you really made the best corned beef creation Ive ever had-I rarely even eat corned beef at all-thank you. His recommendation was perfect and the blend of the Brea cheese, corned beef, pickles and everything else on the Dutch crunch definitely made for the best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a really long time.

So here we walking down 4 street when we notice that Ancient Oak Cellars is open for late Wed-Sat. We decide to go in and Oh are we happy we did. Now I love a good Pinot Noir and hate a decent one. Yes I am a wine snob! So I decide to taste several of there wines avoiding the Pinot so I come across as just your average wine taster who is just having fun. Then it happens she kindly offers me a taste of the Estate Pinot Noir and I take the risk! Wow it is Amazing lots of layers of flavors nice supple and rich! It is also a deal I pay double for similar Pinot’s and I like this one better. We also have some wonderful Lox wrapped in cucumber excellent and a real deal for this quality.

Surprisingly DELICIOUS deli! Completely unexpected…#1 that there was even a deli inside the Ancient Oaks wine bar and #2 that it would be sooo good. First off when I walked in it SMELLED like yummy, savory food. Always a good sign. Then the guy that helped me choose my sandwich was so helpful in his recommendations. I went for the Lobo on the dutch crunch roll and I couldnt have been more pleased. I’ve run into too many mediocre deli’s in this town with horrible bread options. I’m glad this one didn’t disappoint. Happy to have a second option to choose besides Ike’s. I love them but do like to spread my business around. This place will certainly become a go to spot. Can’t wait to try more of their sandwiches.

My husband and I wanted a quick lunch before leaving town, and we just came from Napa. I was sad to leave such a gourmet town and come to Santa Rosa, but our meal here was no disappointment! The sandwiches were beautifully constructed and I even had a delicious glass of Zinfandel. I had the Perky Turkey and he had the Nuevo Cubano. Service was friendly and accommodating when I wanted to change what was on my sandwich. We’d definitely stop in again if we were in town!

Came in for a tasting. Dirty tables and dirty wine glasses everywhere. Told by server to have a seat and he would set us right up. Never saw him again s we finally walked out in sad disappointment.

A calm little oasis on 4th street, this combo gourmet deli and wine tasting room is delightful. The deli guys are formerly of Traverso’s, and they really know their craft. We had a panini to die for along with a crisp salad and a glass of a wonderful dry Rose(«Lucy», named after the owner/winemakers’ daughter). A great and unexpected find!

You will find this tasting room just off Courthouse Square in the Corrick’s Store. They will be moving to their own space a few doors down soon. I’ve been meaning to visit this tasting room for quite some time. I was very excited once I came in. You walk in to Corricks and you’ll find Ancient Oaks to the left in a beautiful area appointed with cork flooring, artwork and photography of the vineyards, wine gift boxes and the well-appointed tasting counter. You’ll most likely be greeted by Jordan, who is very knowledgeable about the grapes and terroir of Sonoma County. He is passionate about both the wines and the customers’ experience in the tasting room. The winery was started by Melissa Molhort-Siebert and her husband Ken. She hails from a biology background, but the siren song of the grape lured her to the fields and to wine. The current vintner is Greg La Follette of DuNah fame. Greg is known worldwide as one of the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay artists in the field. Most of the grapes are sourced from the Russian River Valley AVA, Sonoma County. The Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Alexander Valley. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and accompanying blends round out the tasting menu. I’ll hit the highlights here. The Chardonnay is quite unique. It wasn’t too buttery. It wasn’t too oakey. It was a perfectly balanced, fruit flowing, lightly kissed chardonnay with a core structure that caught my attention. Jordan shared that it went through about 60% malolactic fermentation, just enough to impart some different qualities but not enough to be lost in the crowd with everyone else. I don’t normally tell when I’ve taken something home, but I will here. My wine group enjoyed it, as well. The Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, with grapes sourced from Laguna Ridge and Green Valley areas of Sonoma County, tasted of earthy strawberry and baking spices with a nice long acidity and finish. It was a bit darker than other pinots I’ve had. The Siebert Pinot Noir appeared to have a lighter color than some pinots, more acidity and a finish like a crushed raspberry. Very nice. Both are worth trying. I really liked the 2011 Pagnano Zinfandel. It was a nice jammy, happy zinfandel with little tannin and drinkable without food. Most Zins have to have food in order to bring out their fullness. Nothing will get in your way of enjoying this one. There are two red blends. I sampled the Sappho and it was delicious. It is a Merlot-based blend with Cabernet Sauvignon standing it up like having your big brother in your corner. If you are in downtown Santa Rosa, do make it over to this tasting room. Don’t [pass this place up. You’ll be missing a hidden gem in the area. Check it out

I have walked by and through Corrick’s several times and have always been curious, yet a bit skeptical of a tasting bar within the store. I FINALLY decided to give it a shot and WOW! Jordan was the gentleman pouring and he certainly knew his stuff! And the wines were fabulous! I went home with two bottles and have been recommending them ever since! Great wine! Great staff! Great knowledge! Rumor has it they will be moving to their own separate tasting bar right around the corner from their current location. Looking forward to it. Thank you again Jordan!

Watch out. Are their wines great? Yeah, absolutely. That’s their one star right there. My buddy and I walked in on Wednesday after seeing a sign outside that simply advertises wine tasting inside. So we walk in, ask the girl at Corrick’s and she simply points to the bar and tells us to head on over. We walk up to the bar and immediately the attendant pulls out two glasses and begins pouring. The wine was absolutely fantastic. We got through all 7 wines(after just expecting one) we told the attendant we’d be back in a bit to purchase a bottle. We made it about five feet before he told us there was a «ten dollar fee on the complimentary wine»(what a contradiction). Not a single mentioning of this was made before pouring, on the sign, or by the girl who led us to the bar… And the guy didn’t even ID us(22 and 23) He explained we could both combine our fees towards a bottle if we wished, so that’s unfortunately what we did. Now I’ve got a bottle of Pinot on my counter, and it’s gone bitter. Pretty expensive brick I’ve got on my table now.

Walking by this location no one would know there was a beautiful wine tasting room right in the middle of one of the oldest run stores in downtown Santa Rosa. My husband and I got a bottle of Ancient Oak 2008 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley as a gift and fell in love! We decided if we ever visited Sonoma we would definitely make a trip to taste their other wines. We booked our honeymoon for Sonoma/Napa Valley and decided to contact Ancient Oak Cellars to find out where they are located for a tasting. They were nothing but helpful in not only our plans to visit them but giving suggestions to other local area wineries and restaurant. Denise and myself went back and forth on several topics and she was extremely knowledgable about the area. Once we finally arrived in Santa Rosa, we walked around the charming downtown area and into the store where the tasting room is located. Denise was more than welcoming and it was a special treat since Melissa the owner of Ancient Oak Cellars showed up as well. We got to speak with her directly about the wines and gain insight about the wonderful wines they produce. My husband and I were nothing but impressed and walked out with a few bottles to enjoy! And 1 special bottle for that night since Bistro 29 waves the corking fee when you bring a bottle of Ancient Oak. I would send each and every one of our friends and family there when visiting the Sonoma area. Rather than treating you like another customer, we felt like we were treated like friends. A great and different place to enjoy a lovely selection of wines.
