The Shrimp Shack is not inexpensive. I go there a couple of times a year though to get the lobster sandwich. It is usually cooked perfectly, comes with butter, lemon and lettuce and a fresh bun for about $ 22.00. Add a glass of wine or two at about $ 12 a glass and a couple can easily spend $ 70 or so. The food has to be good to spend that much to place your order at a counter and then sit at a small table in a hall next to the ordering counter or at the pavilion outside on the beach. On the other hand, it isn’t just the food. Eating a great seafood basket or sandwich, dining on a beach with glistening white sand and an ocean that is crystal clear and emerald green while sipping on a glass of chardonnay wine and the $ 70 doesn’t seem like a bad price to pay for the experience. Probably most people order the shrimp basket. In fact, there is a choice for a couple of different kinds of shrimp, steamed to perfection and served with potato and an ear of corn. The Chardonnay isn’t bad with the shrimp either. The Shrimp Shack is located in Seaside on the beach, right across the two lane road from where The Truman Show was filmed. Good food, a lot of sun and dining on the beach in a beautiful location. It is worth a trip.

This is the place I go when I want delicious seafood, prepared to order, with a wonderful view of the sunset from the pavillion. The lobster roll is prepared the way a good lobster roll should be. Buttered and toasted bread, stuffed full and very lightly dressed with melted butter. They serve a side of melted butter to pour over if like your lobster meat a little richer. The lobster meat was wonderfully sweet and flavorful. I have had many Maine lobster rolls and this one ranks up there for me. The Royal Reds are the best I have ever had. And the homemade lemonade is great too.

Great lobster roll and Bloody Mary. Be sure to eat out on the Pavillion overlooking the beach. It’s a great spot!

Way overpriced for below average food. Service was friendly and the view from the pavilion was great, but we will definitely not be back.

It was ok. We were looking for a restaurant where we could sit on the beach, have a drink, and eat shrimp and crab claws. That part we got right. We had a Margarita each(very good), then he ordered oysters and crab claws. I thought the shrimp was good. My husband said the oysters and crab claws… the latter little bittie things were ok. Total bill for it all…$ 75. Stick to drinks and shrimp and it’s maybe 3−½ stars! However, location was wonderful!

Don’t order the lobster roll. A rip off. 22 $ for some lobster meat on a hotdog bun. Also ordered the crab fingerling app. It was small not filling but tasted good. Disappointed overall in the food and prices. The outside deck seating was a wonderful place to watch the the sunset. That was the best part.

The food was very good and fresh. My fiancé and I ordered the half dozen oyster and half pound steamed shrimp. The shrimp came with potatoes and corn on the cob. The shrimp was well seasoned and was very fresh. They have outside seating right on the beach they call the pavilion. It was gorgeous view; dinner on the beach watching the sunset. The service was great as well. It’s not a fancy place as per the name but it is a relaxing place for some good food with a good view.

Needed a stop for lunch while day driving 30A and miraculously a spot was available in front of the complex housing the Shrimp Shack and Bud and Alys. We checked out both menus and decided to try the shrimp shack as they had steamed crab claws. They also had a lovely gazebo out back that overlooked the beautiful waters in that area. Two cold beers, 20+ claws, and 45 minutes later, we were back on the road!

Well… sad to say I had the lobster roll and it wasn’t great. I had high hopes for the $ 22 cost and we have one locally that is delicious but this didn’t compare. The lobster was tough and there wasn’t much and the bread was soft and most likely not made from scratch and nothing special. Most people were eating shrimp so that may be the better way to go.

If this place were anywhere but in the middle of Seaside they’d go out of business charging these prices for the portions.

The food here is fresh and simply amazing. This will be my new go to spot in seaside. The lobster roll was amazing, not masked by mayo and celery, just lobster butter and lemon, delish. The roll was toasted perfect and was a perfect vehicle for the lobster it held As good as the food was the view is what really stole the show. Basically on top of the beach and right by the water, I could side there all day. The back patio is shaded(thank goodness because the sun was a killer) and you feel a nice crisp breeze. There servers are quick to bring food and clear the tables although do not seem to refill waters or offer more drinks but since you order and pay before hand it is understandable. The prices are high! Prepare to drop some coin but with food this good /fresh and a view such as this it was well worth it. Not to mention the town it’s self is an expensive place, every place you go to in the area is high priced…

Amazing Lobster Roll! For $ 21.99, not exactly a family friendly meal– do like we did and send the big kids for pizza

Oh, man, the view is gorgeous from the back pavilion but sadly the food is a total ripoff. Ordered the lobster roll and it was completely tasteless. It came with no condiments on the bread and a sad little wilted piece of lettuce. Had NO flavor whatsoever. My hubby ordered the shrimp salad sandwich and it had more celery than anything else. The shrimp cocktail was $ 12 and was basically 5 small shrimp sitting on top of a bed of lettuce. Pathetic. I get that the location is great but they could definitely improve the food. Next time I’ll grab something from the food trucks and just go sit on the beach instead of wasting $ for the view alone.

I was excited to have seafood at the beach and saw this was rated high. We ordered a lobster roll, a pond of red shrimp, a beer and a glass of wine. The total was $ 75. I was shocked at the price but for good seafood why not. However, when the food arrived I was surprised to see my lobster roll was very small and had a piece of lettuce and no sauce of any kind. It looked like boil lobster pieces. I had to ask for any sauce to help give it some taste of any kind. Then the shrimp came. I was pumped to try these as I heard good things about them. They were sweet shrimp and very tasty but we’re on the mushy side and not even deveined. For $ 20/lbs at least deveined them. To say the least the price was outrageous and the taste was not there I would not recommend them I will not be going back.

Cute seafood shop and cool town but the lobster roll was average. They didn’t take enough time to get the shell out of the sandwich and it was way overpriced for a simple not fancy lobster roll. Doesn’t compare to Maine lobster.

This is one of the fanciest shacks that I’ve ever been in. The menu is pretty simple — fresh seafood, simply prepared. I started with a half dozen oysters on the half shell. You can’t take the raw oysters to go, so I just ate those while I waited for the rest of my order to be prepared. Royal reds were there for a limited time, so I got a ½lb(which was 6) of those(comes with corn and potato) and a greek salad. It was a chilly February day, and all the spots in the shack were taken, so I walked around the corner to their patio seating to enjoy the oysters. They were fresh and tasty. After finishing those, I returned inside to wait for the rest of my order. We took our lunches back to our condo across the square. The shrimp were high quality and tasty. The royal reds come with the heads still on, be prepared. I didn’t eat the corn or the potato. The greek salad was ok, nothing special. All in all, stick with the seafood and be prepared to shell out the dough for the high quality seafood. And if the weather isn’t great, be prepared to get your order to go.

Great seafood on the beach! Shrimp was very tasty. Seafood gumbo in a cup is very flavorful. Prices are a little on the high side but not crazy for a the awesome ocean view. Would have given 4 stars but My only complaint about the experience was charging for ice tap water and the beer prices are very inflated. Best advice is bring your own beverage and you will be happy as a clam

Well I will say upfront that this place has vacation location pricing, it is Seaside after all. With that said we had the Lobster role. it has an entire Lobster tail chunked on it, awesome! We also got the Reds shrimp, they were very large and fresh, if you have never had a red… they taste like crab.

What a find! Stopped her for lunch while visiting seaside . Everything about the place was great accept for the prices. The lobster roll was fantastic and I could have crushed 20 of those right on the spot. I will visit here again and I will make sure to save my nickels before visiting.
