This place is great. It is so nice having a cozy restaurant run by the owner, who welcomes customers and might even remembers what is your favorite menu. The lunch special is always good with reasonable price. Their fresh pressed OJ is so good and you will LOVE it!

Great place to grab a bite if you are in the area. Seems like the management changed recently and they have made some changes in the menu. Tried there Strawberry banana smoothie, salmon teriyaki and Sunshine supreme sandwich with grilled chicken and fresh lettuce. Everything tastes great. They have lunch specials as well which seemed pretty good for the price. Would recommend this place highly for a quick bite. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice and carrot juice to quench your thirst in Santa Monica heat.

In sum, this is the place you eat at if you’re in the area(work, clinics, St. Johns) if you want«dank» food. Their food is just heavy, oily, greasy and it kind of smells. St. Johns cafeteria is better(right next door) and not overpriced compared to here(its not crazy expensive here, just more than it should be). But if you’re having one of those days where you want to eat fat and just don’t care, this may be your place. Otherwise, save your taste buds, health, and caloric intake and go elsewhere. Veggie grill /whole foods /a ton of other places are a few blocks away

How can you mess up a cheeseburger? Super thin, over cooked. Tasteless fries. Fries were barely warm. Ketchup bottle on table was rancid(never experienced that anywhere). Overpriced for the quality. Should have gone to ihop.

I am surprised at all the negative reviews, I have been here twice since my first review and ha great food each time. The last two times I went with my son, we both enjoyed our lunches. I had a protein style veggie burger one time and a protein style veggie sandwich(wrapped in lettuce leaves) and it was really good. My son had cheeseburgers both times and he loved them. People that work there are very nice as well.

While the food at this establishment is mediocre at best, it previously won on convenience. Being adjacent to a hospital and medical office buildings, it is an accessible option. Having sparsely eaten there for years, today was the last time. Worth the walk to other local places to avoid this place.

Lunch was ehhh-ok. Probably not going back… I had the turkey deli sandwich. It was a good size portion however, the bread was toasted too much — the thing was falling apart after each bite. The side coleslaw was ok – not too tasty. The pickle had lost it’s crunch. I would pass on this place.

This place is called Sunshines. Not with an apostrophe, but as a plural of the word sunshine. It’s a cafeteria style medical building restaurant with standard breakfast and lunch fare. The food is cheap and they are always willing to make substitutions and modifications. They deliver via bicycle delivery guys, but unless you are in the 2001 or 2021 building the food will arrive soggy and cold. Pretty much every time we’ve ever ordered they’ve forgotten something — a straw, plastic cutlery, etc. The quality fluctuates between mediocre and slightly above average. Just don’t expect too much from Sunshines.

Arrrghhh! Visiting from Oregon and hoping to enjoy the Santa Monica«experience» and sun. Absolutely the WORST teriyaki chicken wrap I’ve ever had! Soggy tortilla, tasteless chicken, NOT crisp lettuce. The side pickle was rotten(literally), and the fruit cup was questionable at best. :-(( Oh well, at least I enjoyed the patio seating, hence the one star rating. Me bad for not reading the Unilocal ratings first…

Worst customer service I ever experienced! I’ve been working in the area for the past 8 years and even though the food isn’t great I would still mention it to ppl because it’s very convenient. But today was my last day as a customer! I ordered a salmon lunch special for $ 9.05 it was not my first time ordering this item, I purchase food and drinks from them almost EVERYDAY so I guess u can say I was a loyal customer. So as I was saying I picked up my order and went back to my office and when I opened the box the«salmon» was beige and gray and dry, definitely not the salmon I’m use to getting. So since I order from them everyday and felt comfortable with the Mexican employees, I called them from my office and explained that I wasn’t happy with my meal, the man on the phone was always nice so he asked me to bring it back down and he would see what he could do. When I walked in the Japanese/Chinese Owner and his wife were behind the counter and refused to give me my $ 9.05 because I ate SOME potatoes and veggies, and literally argued with me out loud in front of a bunch of customers and said he didn’t need my business. I will never again eat at this place or recommend it. It was a better restaurant before they got new managers, so sad that they have NO customer service skills. I posted a pic of my «salmon» judge for yourself.

This place has good clean simple food at reasonable prices. I used to always stop here on the way home from SMC. At the time I was lifting and eating very frequently and eating clean. This was the only place around that would make my food exactly how I wanted it. The staff was always courteous and willing to go out of the way to make my food right. A lot of medical staff eat there as do a lot of hospital visitors. Their Chicken club is huge. Their turkey burgers were always a treat for me while dieting. This place isn’t gourmet, however it is a place where one can eat clean and healthy if you know what you want. I know I always looked forward to my meal at Sunshines.

I had a delicious grilled chicken diet plate with plentiful cottage cheese, fruit, avocado and vegetables. The service is quick and the people working there are very nice. I ordered ahead and my food was ready. I will come again.

It’s really not that good. But it’s convenient for medical staff, who work in the same building as well as the one across the street. I got half a turkey sandwich and a bowl of soup. It came with potato salad. Overall a pretty standard deli, about equivalent to a hospital cafeteria. They do have a lot of choice. Things are fresh, but nothing stand out. The New England clam chowder is creamy but without the true flavor of a clam chowder. Takes about 5 min to get your food and there’s plenty of seating. One thing you’ll struggle with is the parking. But hey, such is Santa Monica.

Decent café servicing the healthcare and office staff in the nearby office buildings/hospitals/clinics. I got the fish and chips. I got 3 fish strips with some fries and a side of cole slaw. The fish was definitely one of those frozen over processed ones that someone just dropped in the deep fryer. It wasn’t particularly good, but it wasn’t terrible. The fries were ok. When I first walked in, I got confused as to where I was to stand in line. I’m sure I let at least two people go in front of me while I figured out that I had to place my order at the deli counter and then proceed to the cashier. A sign would’ve been helpful. And they give you your order at the deli case so if you’re in line waiting to pay, you’re kind of in the way of the person trying to retrieve their order. Talk about awkward! No big hurry to return as I am having fun trying out all the different lunch places in the area. Only if I am pressed for time or am lazy will I come back here for lunch.

Been working in the area and always ordered the Same salad. I like the dressing nothing spectacular. Just purchased a soup and it came with a nice piece of string inside of it. Now I know why they have a B rating. Never going back that’s for sure.

Overpriced and Bland! Sorry, but the service is not too good either. The only reason I decided to purchase my breakfast here is because I was taking my fiancé to the Doctors. Other than that, EEKS! Not again! And Thank goodness I will never go there again… I’ll make sure to take myself to IHOP next time.

I was visiting someone at St. Johns and figured I would grab some lunch. The place was really crowded so I thought to myself, if it’s full than means the food is good. I gave this place a 3 star because i really enjoyed my Tuna Melt :) The owner is not a very nice man. I am paying $ 7 for a chicken sandwich for a co-worker and wanted a small side of BBQ Sauce and he wanted $ 1. Really? I can understand 30 cents or 50 cents but $ 1. First time and Last time there.
