I got the lox Benedict and it didn’t taste fresh so I threw it out and never went back.

The service here was not very friendly but I care more about food so I can get past that. The waiters seem more like they should be busboys. What really bothered me was the coffee tasted like sand with hints of vomit. And the prices. Each item on the menu is separate, there are very few lunch specials or soup, salad, sandwich combos, so by the time you order each soup… sandwich…drink…salad separately, it’s a $ 40 meal. And for that kind of money I would rather go somewhere else.

Had a deli club and side of fries delivered to me from down the street, and it should’ve been about $ 19(already expensive, but very hungry and couldn’t leave the clinic). The delivery charge should’ve been $ 2.50 but it was way more as you’ll read below for the total bill. When I get my order, my fries are too soft, and the sandwich was meh for being $ 17 bucks(the fries being about $ 2). Total bill charge? Round up just a few cents and it’s $ 27. What a waste. Never ordering from this place again. And unless you’re okay with having an expensive mediocre/bad sandwich, and willing to pick up your food instead of delivery, I don’t think this place is for other people either. Much better places to be spending $ 27 bucks, especially if I only got a sandwich and fries. Not even a drink included there.

Got no utensils and absolutely zero chicken in my chicken noodle soup called and spoke Maurice on the phone and told me they don’t guarantee chicken and chicken soup… are serious? How does that even make sense that’s false advertising. Extremely disappointed. Said next time I come in the say Maurice said you owe me a soup… Very unprofessional are you even going to write it down in your checklist of disappointed customers in your crappy soup tasted terrible on top of that, you just lost a long time customer. Can I give 0 stars cuz thats what you deserve.

I noticed a lot of mixed reviews on this place so I thought I would share my experience. If you are looking for a steak/eggs/fruit/tomato breakfast, look no further. They do it right. Enjoy!

Great family restaurant with good food and pleasant staff. It’s our go-to place for breakfast, lunch or even dinner. It can get crowded on the weekends, but you’ll find it’s well worth the wait.

I have praised Fromin’s in the past, but not now. I contacted them on FB, but am not holding my breath that I will hear back. In a word… Went to Fromin’s this evening– terribly disappointed and I will not be going back. I ordered two hot pastrami sandwiches to go. They were not hot, or even warm. I asked for thousand island dressing on the side. They put in a stingy half-filled container tthe size of those little salsa containers at Pollo Loco. When I mentioned the hot pastrami was entirely cold, and asked could I get hot sandwiches, I was told I could microwave them. I was using a Groupon, and maybe that is why I was treated shabbily. But even on a Groupon, the sandwiches are not worth it. Two sandwiches cost about $ 31. The Groupon saves, I believe, $ 12. So it is still $ 19 for two COLD host pastrami sandwiches which were not very good and have much less meat than they did. The only thing they were generous with was their bad attitude. The place was mostly empty so maybe the word is out. If not, *I* will be getting the word out. I have recommended the place to many friends. I used to pick up HOT pastrami sandwiches now and then for my elderly parents. I do not like being treated the way I was. It will be interesting to see if Fromin’s responds to this complaint. I should contact Groupon.

I came here using a Groupon and for the Early Bird Dinner menu. Laugh if you want, but the amount of food is amazing. My salmon steak dinner comes with a drink, ice tea, soup or salad, I chose the beef barley which filled me up, so when my salmon arrived with the baked potato, I only ate a small portion and took the rest hone for lunch the next day. I forced myself to eat dessert! Cookies and cream. The décor remains the same, ultra 1970s. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The presentation of food is nothing to take photos, so no photos here. This place is a place where the staff, menu, and clientele have remained the same. I love salmon and I’m too lazy to prepare it home, so go here for the Early Bird Dinners 4−7pm and you get a lot of food for the price!

This is an old school, family-run deli that serves up hearty portions at a somewhat reasonable price. Strongly suggest pastrami sandwiches, bagels and lox any of their pasta salads and coleslaw. Even the cobb salad we got was enormous and certainly enough for two people.

I gave this place a few tries about 25 years ago. It was garbage deli. I wanted deli on Christmas so I thought I’d give them another shot after so many years. Well, the pastrami was tasteless and too fatty; chopped liver tasted old. Nothing like a NYC deli. If you don’t know real deli, well, you won’t know the difference anyways, Don’t waste your money here.

Totally old school Jewish deli without one iota of hipsterness. Probably the same décor for several decades at least. So uncool its cool. I would stick to the classics: bagels/lox, whitefish, egg salad, matzoball soup, potato knish. There is halva, black & white cookies, and those dark chocolate– covered marshmallow and raspberry gellies I haven’t seen since I was a kid back in NY. Sold by the each! This is NOT a place to order huevos rancheros, or any dish invented after 1950. I only ordered takeout, and I can say I received very courteous serice with no wait on a Sunday morning. The bagels we brought home and toasted were not the gargantuan sized fluffballs you mostly see nowadays, but the smaller, chewier old-school variety. I took away a star because they were out of hand sliced lox, and another because there was stinky rag/mop smell when I walked in. How many times do I have to tell you restaurants? Change, bleach and rinse out those gross mildewy rags every day!

Fromin’s has to be reviewed twice. The dine-in experience is fine, a solid 3 stars, maybe 3.5. The servers are very friendly and helpful, and the food, while never particularly memorable, certainly comes in sufficient quantity and is hearty and filling. I enjoy stopping in every once in a while for a solid, dependable, if never spectacular, meal. I like this version of Fromin’s. Then there’s the deli counter/pickup desk. One star. Simply awful. First off, I don’t know if they’re in transition on their delivery program, but at least the other night, it was unmanageable. Their own site directed me to GrubHub, and I got most of the order I wanted put together, but couldn’t figure out how to add just one bagel, so we called the restaurant. The lady told us not to use GrubHub at all, to use some other site instead(can’t remember the name right now). Okay, we hung up and went straight to that site. Did a search and couldn’t find Fromin’s listed at all. So much for ordering online. We called back. A little frustrated over the online thing, I just wanted to place an order, and I’d drive in and pick it up. We got put on hold and stayed there for minute after minute of dead silence. I gave up and drove in. By this point I had abandoned the idea of getting any proper food for myself – my girlfriend was sick, she wanted chicken soup and a bagel, surely I could just get those at the counter then run some place else for a quick sandwich for myself.(Whole Foods obliged.) But at the counter, they explained why I hadn’t been able to add a single bagel to an order: they simply don’t do that. Stop and absorb that. A classic, practically 1950s deli, won’t add a single bagel to your order unless you’re dining in. They will only sell you a full platter, stuffed with extra things we didn’t want. I’ve never walked out of a restaurant without leaving a tip. I did this time. Never again, Fromin’s deli counter/online ordering/pickup desk, you’re dead to me. But I still might stop in every once in a blue moon for a dependable but uninspiring meal. Even that experience, though, is now tainted by the awfulness of the other side of their business.

Had the groupon and was worth it. Got 2 plates of lox/shmear/onions/tomatoes w/bagels and it fed 4 – 5 easily. There is something so wonderful about Delis, and this one is nice and in good shape. I like the vibes here. It’s nice to get away from«I live in LA and need to go to trendy places.»

Bring your bubbie here and she’ll rave about you to all of her friends. Fromin’s is a real Jewish deli. The food, the atmosphere… it’s not fancy dining, but if you want«a nice sandwich, with some nice rye bread,» this is the place. Chicken soup(matzah ball, noodle, chicken), it’s really, really good. Come here any evening and you’ll see multi-generational families here. My only complaint is that I wish they would just raise the prices instead of shrinking the meals. A sky high sandwich used to be so big you could share it, overflowing with pastrami or corned beef. It’s literally the same size as their other sandwiches, the only difference is that it has some other dressings on it. It’s Santa Monica, we’re using to paying $ 15 for a decent sandwich, charge $ 20 and let your Sky Highs return to their glory days again!

None of the food had great flavor. Sandwiches and salads were large and service was good, Certainly overpriced for the quality of food. Nothing exciting about the food. A set above a fast food restaurant. Many customers appeared regulars and who do not expect much. Jack

Ordered delivery. Huevos rancheros, breakfast burrito and hash. Received delicious corned beef hash, a lovely breakfast burrito and some weird pile of greasy egg and ground beef. I called to let them know they sent me the wrong order, and that there were no tortillas, refried beans, fried eggs or rice in my alleged«huevos rancheros». They disagreed. They said it was correct and the tortillas are at the bottom. I finally just said I’d like my money back for that one dish, because even if it IS their bizaare version of huevos rancheros, it’s inedible. They told me to call grubhub. Grubhub called them, they agreed to give my money back, but not without again arguing and asking grubhub to tell me the tortillas were at the bottom. Take a look at the photo I uploaded. We eat here a lot and I feel incredibly insulted by how they treated me. I tried to send an email to their address and it bounced back. All I wanted on this hungover Sunday morning was huevos rancheros. Thanks for ruining the day, Fromin’s.

I guaranfuckingtee you, the only reason this place has survived through the years is because the rich, white people living in this SM ‘hood are too old and way too lazy to drive out to Canter’s for proper Louis Vuitton pastrami. Seriously…$ 15 for a crappy tuna salad? Stale bread? Old, flaccid pickle? You MUST be joking. Add to this a 300-pound waitress(vs. the hot blonde) who didn’t check on me once and forced me to hit up the cashier for my check. Don’t worry, I ignored her tip, too.

Just home from our delicious Rosh Hashanah dinner. For me it was very much akin to being transported back in time 50 + years to when I was in Jr high getting ready for my bar mitzvah with all those familiar punnums, smells, tastes all sprinkled with a bisal of Yiddish thrown in for good measure! It was all to wonderful! Such a treat for me to enjoy my very own«Soul Food» Thank you babe, you are my sunshine!!!

I was leaving the Westside early Friday after a meeting and decided to take the coast route back home to Agoura Hills. Beautiful, scenic and much cooler than the nearly(100) degree’s on Wilshire blvd… I stopped in at Fromin’s to pick up some food to go… Craving a Pastrami sandwich and being nowhere near Langer’s, Norton’s or even Brent’s I opted for Fromin’s over Izzy’s deli oy vey… Actually 3.5 stars To say Fromin’s is old school literally and figuratively would be an understatement. Fromin’s looks more like dinner time at Leisure Village except it’s 1:45pm, walkers with tennis balls are mandatory equipment and the average age of the patrons is deceased. I picked up the food to go for my kids and I. The counter help wasn’t a very happy or enthusiastic group. The sandwiches all come with a miniscule side of potato salad which looked older than the patrons. I asked if I could switch it for something else and pay the difference. He rolled his eyes, dropped his pad on the counter and said no end of story. Potato salad /cole slaw or nothing and what was it going to be… While I recognize that getting upset with the miserable rocket scientist void of interpersonal skills making your food isn’t the best idea I was tempted to pull him over the counter and intellectualize with him after he slammed his hand on the counter and said«look». I told him were done and had another guy in the deli help me. Back to the food. Both sandwiches were good not great but also not bad either. Yet very pricey at $ 15.95. The sky high Pastrami was lean and comes with cole slaw and Russian dressing on really good rye bread. My son had the Reuben whuch was similar except comes with a tangy sauerkraut and the rye bread was lightly grilled. My daughter the Chinese chicken salad which was very basic and non descript. I have been to Fromin’s a number of times when I’m on the Westside mostly take out in a pinch. Chicken soup for someone under the weather, a quick sandwich etc. Sadly the Westside is starved for really good deli food.

Came here to have lunch with my grandfather. Service is great and they help you as soon as you walk in the door. The ambience is mostly families and more often than not, senior citizens or elderly couples. I guess that’s to be expected from delis in Los Angeles. The food was delicious and tasty. I ordered the veggie melt and a small glass of grapefruit juice. The grapefruit juice was fresh and delicious. The veggie melt wasn’t too greasy or oily. It was just right. It also came with a side of fresh fruit which i loved. I really liked that this place ha a variety of menu selections as well as a weight watchers section for those who want to eat healthier. Overall a great restaurant to have a good meal.

Fromin’s is a typical LA deli: comfort food, sandwiches overstuffed with meats, large portions, efficient servers, high prices, and matzoh ball soup! I like Fromin’s. It’s a great deli option on the westside. In my opinion, no LA deli really competes with a New York deli, but Fromin’s kitchen does its best. And, their matzoh balls are EXCELLENT!

I’m amazed this place still exists. I grew up in NY. Deli in NY knew how to make a sandwich. This place makes awful food and has no clue how to be a deli. 11 dollars for a tuna sandwich!!! WOW. Give me Katz’s or 2nd Abe deli in NYC any day

Suzie Q’s Fun Facts: Corned beef is so named because it is cured with large-grained salt, and in Old English, a large grain of anything was called a «corn.» -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= I’ve never set foot in Fromin’s, but the take out was adequate. The boyfriend and I were craving the quintessential combination of a corned beef sandwich with matzo ball soup. The choices were Izzy’s(open 24 hours and only 4 blocks from my house), and Fromin’s(rated slightly better, but slightly farther away). Fromin’s won out. So I sent the boyfriend to pick up some grub. The verdict: — Corned beef sandwich: We both agreed that while the rye bread was nice and fresh, the meat was unpleasantly fatty(as in, we both pulled off strips of solid fat from our meat). I’d say unusually fatty… most deli corned beef is pretty lean. — Matzo ball soup: Generous portion. However, the matzo balls were large, but dense and surprisingly not that well seasoned. I was impressed by the number of noodles that came with my soup. — «Accessories»: Potato salad and cole slaw were standard, nothing to write home about. I thought it was weird that the sandwiches only came with plain yellow, not spicy mustard. All in all, a perfectly palatable meal, but b/f and I agreed that we’d had better deli food.
