Never had been to an Irish Pub before. Been to a British one in Burbank — Buchanan Arm’s, more quiet restaurant-like(review coming soon) — but never a legitimate Irish Pub, knowing there would be a full bar and a very loud ambience. And that’s exactly what we got. First off, lemme start by saying that I expected this place to be PACKED for a Saturday night. I called to make a reservation at Sonny McLean’s right down the street, but they said there was an age limit, so I chose this place. I switched my reservation twice– the first time adding one more person to my party of two, and the second time changing the reservation time due to being late. The man on the phone was as chill as can be and did NOT treat it as any trouble, whatsoever. Second, we walked in to a small, semi-crowded pub, in which I told the host the reservation under my name and he led us to our booth– menus and utensils ALREADY set up, with a courteous«Reserved» sign on the table. Made me feel real special, thank you O’Briens! I ordered the«Green Salad» with ranch dressing beforehand for $ 6(okay but more leafy than lettuce, TONS of tomatoes on the bottom), and the«Fish & Chips» for a whopping $ 16 as my entrée, as that’s what I was definitely craving, and it did not disappoint. The only gripe I have is that the fish & chips did NOT come with green peas as Buchanan Arm’s in Burbank does, and I really look forward to those peas. However, I did ask for the peas and mashed potatoes on the side no problem… except extra charges on my bill but it was worth it! I asked for vinegar and ranch for the entrée, and it was brought to me within a minute– fantastic service. With a Unilocal Check-In, you receive 10% off your entire bill. It is NOT cheap here. At first we asked the waiter to separate our bill, which he did not, but no problem as he came back, fixed the checks, and gave both parties(one party of just me and another party of two) the Unilocal 10% discount– thank you! The ambience was lively and loud toward the middle of the night, and everyone was very friendly as well. Definitely a great night out on the town, would come back if I didn’t live so far! Thank you for the memorable experience and wonderful food, O’Briens!

Went here for a friends birthday. What you expect from an Irish Bar especially an Obriens but the one thing that was above and beyond was the service. Our server Scott had about 30 different tabs going and he kept everything in order and no one went thirsty. Hard to find good service in LA but this place is great. Good food and good drinks! Great time.

Absolutely lovely spot. William O’Sullivan is the perfect host. He really cares about his customers. I only drank wine, but the food looked amazing. Highly recommend this place for drinks and great conversation.

Best place on the west side. Want a local legit place that brings in the best taps? Been here 9 years, best bar hands down and they have the Big Ten Network if that’s what you’re looking for.

Willy is THE best. I was planning a birthday party for a birthday boy whose middle name is O’Brien so naturally, this seemed like the perfect place. Spoke with Willy a few weeks beforehand to work out the details and stopped by the bar the week of to check out the space and put a face to the name. He was very friendly and straight to the point about drink minimums and what not. Even though it was the crazy busy night of the Rousey/Holms fight, Willie saved a section for us surrounded by a gajillion TVs. He also checked on us a number of times to make sure we were all good. Food was delicious, and the drinks were strong. The shepherd’s pie(make sure to ask for the brown sauce) was the favorite, with the fish and chips coming in a close second. When Holms KO-ed Rousey, the entire place went nutso! Great way to celebrate with friends, delicious eats, a good fight, and an awesome bar!

The food was great, however the customer service was horrible and there were only 6 people in the restaurant.

Not accommodating. The bartender with a manbun/ponytail was rude. He obviously had a lot going on, considering they had one bartender and what looked to be two guys on the floor for a night of college football and Cotto v. Canelo. However, he was just flat out not welcoming. One star for below subpar service and a ½ star for food, which was half decent for the low price. Won’t be back.

I lived within a mile of O’Brien’s for six years, and my wife and I actually had our first date here. For that reason and many more, it’s one of my favorite places in the world. The food is standard pub fare, but high quality. The burgers in particular are excellent, and the fries are world class. Their brunch is fantastic. The best part is the atmosphere, which is always friendly and has the vibe of a neighborhood bar. It’s a great place to watch a game. While it can be a little slow at peak times, the service is generally excellent and always friendly. Highly recommend.

The pub was very welcoming. I went there on a Saturday night around midnight and it was not that crowded. I really like the décor of the pub. The only reason i didn’t give it five stars is because the drink prices are a little high.

Great bar, simply for being a New York Giant’s bar! Chill people. As others have mentioned, it can get packed so come early!

The staff paid zero attention to us and I’m pretty sure I now have food poisoning. It was Sunday night and the bar was half full. We had to ask for menus after about five minutes, the staff never once looked at us to see if we needed anything and I had to flag every single person down that served us. At one point the bartender poured me the wrong beer. When I corrected him he just reused the same glass without cleaning it. I ordered a burger and fries with tartar sauce. My stomach feels like it’s trying to claw its way out of me, my head is killing me, my joints feel like they’re being stabbed by ice picks and I’m incredibly nauseous. Drinking water makes me want to throw up. Moving makes me want to throw up. Everything right now makes me want to throw up. I get that it’s probably just a bad night for the place, but that is an EXTREMELY bad night.

A New York Giants bar in Santa Monica, a mile from my house? Yes please and thank you. Although I’m not actually from New York, or even the East Coast… I am a Giants fan and love when a whole bar is filled with team camaraderie and passion. My boyfriend and my new go-to Sunday Funday place for football. The place gets packed so come early! Servers are friendly, owner is as well.

Our Friday night regular. The server who usually sees to us knows my boyfriend and I so well he knows our drink orders by hand. Super friendly, very chilled and good food at great prices. Just WISH they would bring back their sticky toffee pudding. So sad that they took that off the menu :-(and the dessert choices could just do with a little bit of beefing up generally(but that’s my own opinion and I have a sweet tooth). Still a 5-star for their service though! Keep it going.

Great pub, friendly staff, and awesome fish & chips. Also, if you check-in on Unilocal, you get 10% off the bill. Gotta love that! I was passing by and was in the mood for some fish & chips, so I pulled over, read the Unilocal reviews, then decided to check the place out. Certainly glad I did! I’ll be back.

I am lucky enough to live a few blocks away from O’brien’s. I have been in this bar numerous times and I will continue to make this my go to spot! Service is always top notch. –My favorite thing to eat is the shepherds pie with cheese on top and it is a big portion. –I promise that O’brien’s will serve you the best Irish coffee you’ve ever had. –the beers on draft are always on point! And bartenders are very knowledgeable to help you find something you’ll like.

I’ve come here for lunch on week days as well as for dinner on their Pub Trivia night. Lunch was a surprisingly delicious. …I did not have high hopes for salmon from a small Irish Pub, but me-oh-my this was tasty! I also tried the veggie burger which had wonderful flavor and a bun that was to die for. The staff was very accommodating for menu modifications when our group ordered. This accommodation really sealed the deal for me in considering this place as a top spot for regular work week lunches. Pub Trivia night got quite busy and the staff seemed to struggle to handle the large numbers. Orders still arrived in good enough time and lots of great beer was had by all. The positive community atmosphere that this place eschews really made for a superbly fun night. …Although this makes it sound like pub trivia was wholesome. Pub trivia is never wholesome.
