Overpriced and lacking in options. Menu needs a refresh.

Top of the line service, incredible food, very clean… I could go on and on about how amazing this restaurant is. Best restaurant on Montana Ave hands down. Do yourself a favor and stop in you will not be disappointed trust me!

Wish I could give u 0 stars. Your salmon sandwich was the worst meal I had in a long time. No flavor no salt. I had to go back to get some salt to go. Had maybe 2 bites and threw it in a trash. And another thing is soup. Again, missing salt, absolutely tasteless and u put it in a plastic container. A boiling soup in plastic container? It almost melted in my hand. U know that plastic container releases toxins when it get hot right? I want my 11.99 $ back!!!

This is one of my favorite places to go for breakfast food on the weekends when I don’t feel like venturing very far and want something reliably tasty and very filling. The restaurant has a kitschy, country store-kind of vibe to it, with lots of baskets, antique knick-knacks, and flowers decorated throughout the place that add charm and character. Although the deli case has so many great options(e.g., salads, pasta dishes, veggie sides that you can mix and match), and the sandwiches and specials are solid too, I’ve lately been sticking with their delicious eggs benedict, which consists of fluffy poached eggs on top of an English muffin with Canadian bacon, hollandaise sauce, savory potatoes, and toast. This is as food coma-inducing as it sounds and never fails to put me in a happy mood(I’m drooling just thinking about it now!). I also love that I always get 2 servings out of it since they give such a generous portion. The only downsides I can think of are that the restaurant is a little pricey(but hey, we’re in Santa Monica…) and that it can get super crowded on the weekends, so you may have to wait a little while. Either way, totally worth it! I’m sure I’ll be back in the very near future!

Odd place. A décor that could only be called scavenged random, including a skylight covered in plastic sheeting. But, I’ve eaten great food in ugly places, and that’s what I care about. The filet chili cheese omelette reflects the confusion of the whale and the chandelier in the ceiling, but why not try it? The meat was tender, the chili flavorful. Unfortunately this was undone by flat egg with no volume. Perhaps the pan was too large, the diameter was monstrous. Add a lackluster latte, and you get a poor value for $ 20. Look elsewhere in Santa Monica. Only the great service secured the third star.

I’ve tried almost all of their sandwiches and some breakfast items. Their sandwiches are good, but nothing too great. I’ve come down to ordering only their club, since I think it’s the best from all of them. The club doesn’t come with avocados, so I always add that. The bacon is really good and the sandwich is well put together. For lunch orders I usually get the vegetable quinoa soup which is also really good. Their breakfast isn’t all that great, the only item I really enjoy is lox bagel. 4 stars because the staff is great and the items I do enjoy are really good and keeps me coming back

This place is pretty good and the ingredients seem fresh. I felt good when I finished my food like I just had good homemade food. That for me was a great sign.

I think this place is great. Not fancy seating but the food is very very good. I highly recommend the huevos rancheros and chocolate chip pancakes. I def recommend checking this out if you want to eat well. I wouldn’t go with a group or an experience but I would for good food!

Great stop for a quick bite. It’s so tiny but the place has so much potential and we were lucky to not have to wait in line for lunch time. We just picked up the sandwiches and honestly haven’t tasted them but I am all about customer service. Everyone there is so friendly! Ruben took our order and he stood out from the rest. He answered any questions but was quick because of other people in line. He asked if we wanted to try anything and offered the specials they had. He let us know about options and what includes in what. He was very helpful! My mom felt the same. He said he was so kind! Will definitely come back in hopes that he will help us again. Ty Ruben!

Great spot to have breakfast or just grab a quick coffee to go if you’re in the neighborhood. So much better than Starbucks and way faster wifi! Pastries are ok but I wouldn’t recommend them as much as I would recommend their latte… which is absolutely delicious!

Ordered for pickup online and nobody could find my order. Turns out they had not even made my order or any of the others that were taken online. I was promptly dismissed by the cashier and told to come back later when my order was ready. The woman behind the counter watching who I assumed to be the owner/manager seemed not to care either. Waste of tine.

Love this place. I come here at least once a week. I used to get the Italian omelette. But now I create my own. Great value for money with lots of flavorful fresh food. The staff are very friendly! They always remember me and my girlfriend when we come in, which we really appreciate. Iv recommended this spot to friends and colleagues.

Coffee is terrible. Breakfast with bad coffee is a sad thing. Super dry pancakes. Kind of expensive for what you get. Bacon and eggs are okay.

Love this spot so much. There is a reason it’s been here for ages, food quality & conception is to die here, Wholefoods deli can take a nap. The 3 item deli plate at Marmalade is the best in town. Yum.

Always a solid option to grab a quick bite alone or with friends. Salads are great and the cookies are too!(Sooo mannnyyy optionss.) Drip coffee is a bit weak, go with some espresso.

Café au lait was watery and made me jittery right away. Eggs were OK. Potatoes are good. This place is super overpriced for what it is. I paid $ 15 for a breakfast burrito that was gigantic yet unsatisfying. I’d go somewhere else.

It funny when you live in a community and realize that you walk past the same restaurant a few times a week and never try it. Well today I walked in. It is a little interesting with deli concepts about where to start. Salads and entrees are past the check out counters flatware across the room from cookies and pastries in different coolers? Craziness, you need a tiny map to navigate, all the time the folks that work there kinda just watch you wander about. It must be rather amusing to them. I digress, I ordered the pesto pasta salad with feta cheese and the chicken parmesan with tomato sauce. The chicken was great, pounded flat breaded well and moist inside with a nice crisp outside. The pasta, a bit mushy for my taste. The pasta could have been cooked al dente. The overall feel for the space was a comfortable neighborhood restaurant that you can bring the family to after a school ballgame. I’m sure that this is a place many will enjoy.

For a single guy in his late twenties the dining experience ot Marmalade is as close to a home feel as it. Its your Mom’s kitchen that she never had right down to the old fashion yellow cake on display and big tables. Or maybe its the kitchen I’d have in my mansion if I were a billionaire. There’s never line, the service is friendly, there’s usually two or three people there to help you or the owner’s usually mingling around, and the food is really good. Its the type of food that leaves you feeling refreshed hours after eating it. The sandwiches come with the salad of the day so you get to try new pairings even if you order the same thing. Their breakfast is also really good. Its pretty much self serve, like if I order a coffee, I can walk to this refrigerator area and choose between 5 or 6 milks, creamers, almond, soy; whatever and however much I want. Free refills while there, little news papers about the city going around makes it feel like your part of the neighborhood.

I absolutely love this café! This place is part country café, part deli. The décor and atmosphere are adorable and inviting. My fiancé and I have tried several of their sandwiches and salads and each has been equally delicious. Their salads from the case are popular for people to stop in and pick up on a lunch break, but also make great sides to go with homemade dinners. They have a variety of both vegetarian and herbivore offerings that use many different spices, grains, and vegetables. For a price similar to other cafes on Montana, a delicious side salad(or soup) comes included with your sandwich. Be warned that due to popularity options(if you are picking up a side for dinner) become limited later in the day.

This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. I have lived in Santa Monica for my whole life and this has been my family’s go-to spot for years. First of all, the atmosphere is so lovely — it feels homey and I love the casual seating style. It is really easy to make friends in Marmalade because of the community style table in the back of the restaurant as well as the fact that the tables to be close together. Even though some people probably look at this as a downside, I just think it is exactly what creates the amazing community-focused aspect of the restaurant. The décor of the place is great and just walking into Marmalade makes me happy. What makes Marmalade so special is the amazing service. Everyone is so incredibly friendly and helpful. They are really good about refilling drinks if need be and the food comes out relatively quickly almost always. If there is an issue with your food, the staff will always graciously help you fix whatever problem you have. For example, my little sister has always been a picky eater but the awesome people at Marmalade started making her a mashed potato pancake on the griddle and since then it has been one of her favorite things to have for breakfast. And of course, the food is great! It is nothing super-fancy but is healthy, tasty and there are a variety of options. I especially love it during the breakfast/brunch/lunch time. The breakfast sandwich is to-die-for, and I love that you can get egg whites subsisted easily on any egg dish. For lunch, the shrimp and fish tacos are amazing. Additionally, Marmalade does wonderful catering! I would definitely recommend Marmalade as a cater for any of your parties. The cakes, desserts and pastries are wonderful and go perfectly with a hot cup of coffee. Also, Marmalade is perfect for getting food to-go for a fun picnic.

My office ordered here for delivery last Friday. It was my first time and I ordered the chicken pot pie with a fruit bowl. Fruit was fresh and ripe. I can’t remember the last time I had chicken pot pie but it was so good and now I’m obsessed.

Great establishment. Employees are extremely friendly and all had smiles on(even at 7AM!). All of the pre-made foods looked delicious and would be great for those who like to keep snacks in the fridge. I had one of the pasta salads which did not dissapoint. I also ordered a bagel with butter which came unassembled(handed me a toasted bagel with a butter package), this is something they should probably do for their customers to improve the experience.

This is a really cute location, perfect for a girly brunch or lunch. Not usually being a breakfast person, I love that Marmalade has great options for all three meals of the day, I have had each and enjoyed them all. DInner would be my least, lunch my favorite meal here. Great salads and sandwiches, join their email club for coupons, usually BOGO meals monthly, an excellent deal! Service is hit or miss, food can take awhile to come out, so plan for a relaxed time here.

Our go to place for brunch or breakfast when we are in SM. I always get the omelette and I have not been disappointed in any of the tastings. The eggs are fluffy and firm and the ingredients put together in a nice and genrous way, which allows for a hearty meal. The side potatoes are crunchy and make a good accompaniment. The salad was super fresh and the tuna was cooked welll — a little too well… Should have asked for it to be rear. A little generous on the garlic oil but this did not detract from a super tasty meal. Worth a visit for sure.

This is a small place, with deli cases on 3 different walls and in the center a long row of round tables(for 2 seaters) and at the end of the room, a long picnic table. I have a sense of claustrophobia here, but heck, it works. I met my friend here for breakfast and it was packed. I got a table and my friend went to the counter and placed our order. The average price for breakfast is $ 12.00 and more, and with a drink, and tax, your bill will total around $ 18.00. The tables are right next to each other without any space, and so any conversation can be heard. For this reason, I give this location of Marmelade a 4 star. I always feel cramped. The Malibu location is a real sit down, full service restaurant. This Santa Monica location is more for a TOGO, or just coffee and pastry. Having a real breakfast here seemed a bit stressful for me. Let’s talk about the food. I ordered their breakfast sandwich on toasted sourdough. It was tasty and filling. Their potatoes were perfectly grilled with caramelized onions and red peppers. No complaints. Will I return for a meal? If I am paying the price for meal, I would rather be in a full service restaurant(Malibu location) than having to wait in line, order, pay and hope to find a table. Nope, but will I come back? Yes! Marmalade Café has been consistent with their food quality and service.
