First, let me start by asking if Kay & Dave are Canadian? Second, please use more than 1 box/container for take out orders. Chicken fajita, rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gayo, and sour cream swirling around in a tinfoil bucket with grease on the bottom is just a bad look. Even el cholo is a step above this but I should have just take a trip to Ruben’s Taco truck.

Excellent veggie burrito(I got it without cheese) for vegans like me. I got whichever one had the red sauce(there were two veg burritos). I was excited to see zucchini and bell peppers in my burrito! It was huge, WET, and satisfying, just how I like it. The tortilla was soft, red sauce was yummy, and my friend’s strawberry margarita was strongly flavored but still enjoyable. Service was attentive and friendly. I was happy to see a vegetarian menu that can easily be veganized. Price was a little steep but I guess you pay for the location and service as well. Thanks for the great experience! I will be back!

Love this local place we ran into; so yummy so fresh and so good. We had Chorizo and Eggs(refried beans and rice) + Chilaquiles(breakfast all day) Oh, and the fresh juice today is watermelon juice The meal starts amazing with warm chips and really tasty salsa; and went uphill from there. Bummer there was no room for homemade flan. We must stop by for next visit. And, can’t forget to mention the staff are super friendly.

Just came in for breakfast and fell in love with the no fuss interior and the food. Most Mexican joints will have chips and salsa at the table but since it was breakfast time they had mini blueberry muffins and a side of blueberry purée compote in a small molcajete! It was just the right amount of sweetness to snack on before getting the big savory dishes we ordered. My BF and I like to split our entrees so we can try more than one thing. We usually get a savory dish and sweet dish for breakfast but this time we both got savory. I ordered the Chilaquiles Rojos and noticed that this is the 2nd place to offer the Rojos version. I’m use to the verde version with tomatillos but this dish right here was amazing! It came out in a small cast iron skillet but don’t be fooled with the word small, it was piled high and so filling I could only eat half, which was good since the other half belonged to the BF. I recommend getting it with the Chicken Machaca which is shredded chicken with onions and bell peppers. It comes with tortillas, rice and beans on the side! I’m telling you its a pretty satisfying dish! The BF ordered the Breakfast Burrito which was HUGE! He got it with beef barbacoa which is essentially shredded beef with the typical burrito stuffings: beans, cheese, and instead of rice it had eggs. I couldn’t eat my half because I was stuffed with my half of Chilaquiles. But he said it was pretty tasty and was stuffed after his half. Soooo we will have left overs for dinner! We both agreed when we come back, we should only order one meal and split that since it’s pretty filling! Go check them out for breakfast! Can’t wait to try there lunch/dinner menu!

Great Mexican food and great service! I made a To-Go order and they were super nice about giving me updates on how much longer I’ll need to be waiting. They even gave me free chips and salsa while I was waiting! They also made sure that I had water while waiting as well. The best service I’ve ever received for a To-Go order ever! I def want to come back here and dine-in for sure.

WTF horrible service. We had 2 rounds of drinks then ordered food. The servers forgot our second round of drinks then they made our food to go, set it on the table next to us and didn’t say a word. They took our money and we sat there for 45 minutes waiting for our food. Come to find out the food was next to us and they just didn’t say anything. We asked them and they said«oh sorry… It’s right there» These servers suck and need to be fired.

This review is for the location in Pacific Palisades, for some reason it doesn’t show up on here. LOVE this place! Not too many affordable places in the Palisades and this is now one of my favorites, portions are nice and big on to go orders and they even throw in a good size portion of chips and salsa. Staff is very nice and friendly. Place is small but cozy and very clean.

I came here this morning for a Sunday brunch with a friend. He was raving on about their berry pancakes, and he typically did not have a sweet tooth, so they must be good. There was a private lot beside the restaurant which looked like it could hold just around 12 cars. Thankfully, one was open in the back. It was a beautiful day out so we opted to sit outside. Apparently, it was a seat-yourself type of establishment as my friend grabbed one of their high outdoor tables that could fit 6 around it. Most people were sitting outdoors, and even then, it was not full, so I hoped for good service. A server came up as asked if we had been served yet. We told him no, so he returned with some menus. Another server dropped off some blueberry muffins with jam as their starter bread for brunch which the menu said would end at 3 pm. Although they were a tad on the dry and heavy side, and a couple were crumbling apart, they were good, especially with the jam on top. My friend told me that they normally came out fresh and warm. I would not have known otherwise. It took the server roughly 5 to 10 minutes passed an expected return time to come back and take our order of the Fresh Berry Pancakes and the Huevos San Miguel from their brunch menu. We also had an order of the chips and salsa to help appease our hungry appetites. It ended up being crucial because our order came out slowly. My friend started on the pancakes and I on the eggs which were their version of Eggs Benedict made with a potato pancake base with chorizo, mushrooms, and extra large eggs topped with avocado. The mixture was a good blend of savory flavors without coming off as overly Mexican in taste. The egg whites were runnier than I would have liked in a poached egg and it was difficult to identity any chorizo from the mushrooms. We switched plates and I dove into the berry pancakes. The fruit was mixed into the batter, so it had a blueish appearance. It was topped with a berry compote. Well almost. There were blueberries, strawberries, and banana, which wasn’t indicated anywhere on the menu. Since the fruit were mixed into the batter for the pancakes, they were rather dense. I typically prefer a lighter, cake-ier pancake, but, given the circumstances, it was good. If I had to order one again, I would pick the savory eggs since I have had better berry pancakes elsewhere but never these eggs. After we finished, we asked for the check, and, again, had a long wait before they brought it out. My friend was impatient and gave the card immediately so that we could be on our way. I took away 1 star due to the slow service, and another because the food, while good, didn’t wow me. I can’t speak for the lunch and dinner, but the brunch was ok for me. It would not be my first pick for brunch, but I would be open to returning, especially since there were no lines for tables.

Well Well Well… Service Great!!! Food, we just did not feel it. Ordered«fresh guacamole» thinking it would be prepared table side, NOT!!! After tasting the guacamole, sure was NOT made fresh. For the appetizer… Chicken Taquitos. Chicken was extremely dry. We had already order the main dish(Chicken Fajitas) prior to the appetizer arriving. So we only hoped that the chicken in the fajitas would be more tender… NOT!!! Very disappointed. Food…Needs Help!!! Service…10+

One thing KaynDaves does for me is satisfy my craving for heavy, filling mexican food. May not be pact with flavor as i am accustomed to growing up in a hispanic dominanted community where you can get delicious burritos, tacos, tortas, horchata and everything else you can possibly want from a Mexican joint but it definitely gets the job done. The burritos are huge! Cant go wrong with enchilada style. I was a bit disappointed with the salmon and spinach enchilada as i had high expectations for them. Perhaps the most tasty menu item is the veggie tamale. Has great flavor, filling, and wont leave your stomach feeling too heavy.

If happiness was on a plate, it would be charbroiled carnitas from this fabulous restaurant. The ambience is nice and homey. There were some cultural pieces and hand-drawn pictures by children. The service was amazing. My water was refilled several times. We had some trouble getting a server’s attention to get our check, but the restaurant was pretty filled with people at that point. I got the charbroiled carnitas and it was the perfect blend of grilled, juicy meat. They topped it with cilantro and this mild salsa that just worked perfectly together. It came with guacamole, sour cream, beans, tortillas and rice. The guacamole was clearly freshly made. I didn’t get the sour cream. You had a choice of black or pinto beans and I chose black. I don’t know how they make the beans, but it was savory and amazing. You could choose between flour and corn tortilla. I had just walked along the Santa Monica beach and I was starving. I still wasn’t able to finish all the food on my plate. It was so good I actually kept eating even though I was full. I would highly, highly recommend this place to everyone!

Stopped by here on a whim. It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten here and even then it was once. My husband had the breakfast and I had the chili verde burrito with Diablo sauce. Btw that sauce totally deserves its name. The food was great, fresh and huge. The service was even better and I liked how the servers knew people by name when they walked in and their regular orders. We will be back!

Just looking for some grub off the coast and followed helpers to this unique local destination. The service was quick but a little short and lacking a friendly flare. We went with some tacos and a large kitchen burrito. Being an industry guy I figured a name like that would be a house specialty. Pretty bland. The meat was Luke warm and the fillings were odd. Whole uncooked tomatoes and onions. The tortilla was good so that’s a plus. Had a couple beers and enjoyed the environment. Lots of local kids drawings on the wall. I’m sure we just ordered the wrong items or came off as touristy so we didn’t get the live that others got regularly. Multiple people were known by name and yelled to their farewells. We left after dinner was complete with no fanfare. It’s a cute place either way and a great stop before ice cream across the street.

Go big or go home! The Molcajete is sooooo amazing. Shrimp, chicken, beef, and a huge pepper. Covered in cheese and sauce. Big enough to split for two. Everything else is ok, but this is truly memorable and reason enough to come. Service is friendly and helpful. Great spot!

AMAZINGHAPPYHOUR! Ok everything else Happy Hour every single day from 4−7pm, bar area only, not outside. Sometimes a struggle to get a table, but so worth it. Everything on the HH menu is delicious, the $ 3 shots and margaritas, and $ 1 tacos are the best part. They have late night specials too which are a still a pretty good deal and start at 7pm, so if you have a seat in the bar you can eat and drink all night for pretty cheap. Their full menu is alright, nothing worth mentioning but nothing worth complaining about. Standard. If you’re looking for a full Mexican dinner, there are probably 100 better places within ten minutes.

Well I give this place 2 stars because the staff was super friendly and attentive but the food. Or at least mine and a colleague. I had the taco/enchilada plate. The chicken was extremely bland. Adding salt isnt gonna help chicken that taste like it was boiled in water only. The table salsa tastes(and looks) like its the cheap stuff out of a jar. No depth, lacks true Mexican flavors and freshness.

GREAT service! Unlike some places, this happy crew was more than delighted to serve me 15 minutes before closing time. Guac was super-nummy, as were the chips. And my tostada hit the spot, though this particular entrée is probably better served with ghetto refried beans than black beans. Next time I’m looking forward to checking out the enchiladas or fish tacos. I don’t like hard wooden chairs but the ambiance at Kay N’ Dave’s is def on the plush side. Cool lighting and happy customers laughing it up. For celeb whores, Mr. Tom Hanks was in here just last week…

When my younger brother got back from overseas, I picked him up at the metro station, and the *first* thing he said as we embraced was«Yo man you hungry? There a Chipotle around here? — Cuz I’m ready to CRUSH a burrito right now. Know what I’m sayin’?» I know now. I felt that way entering K&D’s — in a pre-hangry hunger fog, ready to crush a burrito, whatever that even means. I went with ol’ faithful Chicken Burrito and was not dissappointed. Don’t let the unassuming nature of the burrito fool you. Inside that floury tan capsule is a world of warm and swirling flavors. The black beans and chicken had nice contrasting textures and flavors that went well with the red salsa. I peeped others’ meals while I was waiting(like a tawny leopard eyeing antelopes from a tree) and it also sizzled with yum-ness. Now, bc I hadn’t eaten for 10 hours and was ravenous, my taste buds were biased towards *anything* food-related, so this place could be a five-star joint; I’m just adjusting for the«hunger is the best spice» factor. If I go again and feel it’s a 5, then 5 it will be.

Love this place! Great portions, good flavors, and easy to get a table. In Brentwood, where there is a dearth of cheap places, this is a nice place to go on an off evening. I tried their grilled chicken tacos and munched on the nachos. Pretty good! Their holy mole chicken is also pretty good. Simple, well made food. Only issue here is parking. You can’t park in the lot across the street because it’s for the other plaza.

Unilocal you have let me down. I’ve been to this place twice.(I usually give places two tries before I quit). and I was just not impressed. Portions are large. Yes, they do have the fresh chips and salsa. The food is a little too salty for me. I got salmon with spinach and asparagus most recently. since when do they have asparagus in Mexico? Do they? And it was really more Asian tasting with the black bean whatever they put on top. The first time I had some pork thing with green enchilada sauce. It was okay. nothing to write home about. There are a ton of Mexican places in California. I would call this place more Mexican inspired… El Torasco or Beach Mex are better for me.
