I agree with the previous poster: very patient gentleman who runs the place. I bought many different things there, not only a futon that looks great in my living room and pulls out into a very comfortable bed when I have guests, but I came back and also purchased a high bed/desk combo and a bookshelf. Oh, that’s right, one time when I was in the neighborhood looking for a wedding gift I finally found something great at the Futon store! It was a beautiful tee tray. Is that enough for«Plus»??? I am sorry that a few people had negative experiences, I wish that everybody who had a great one would post at Unilocal as well to even the score. It’s unfair. I could give a 5 star just because of that reason, but I won’t. I want to be honest and not overreact like Miss Negative and Miss Cynical here… The prices are very affordable. I can’t believe somebody actually complained about the price. It’s flabbergasting. I suggest you check out some local yard sales, lady, if you can’t afford the most inexpensive furniture in town. They have a great selection for futon covers, so you will definitely find something matching your place! My futon is really big, and the cover is suede leather patchwork. It looks like a million bucks and I think I paid less than five-hundred. They also have a broad variety of bar stools for some reason. If you don’t find what you want you can order from one of the many catalogues available at the store. Maybe the service can be a bit slow, but I rather have that than sales people badgering me and push me into a purchase.

Futon Plus? More like Futon Minus. In scanning the prior reviews, I’m SHOCKED that no one else has made this joke(it’s funny because it’s true) It seems like the other two people that reviewed this place(his mother and sister? his father and aunt?) enjoyed the service they got. That’s interesting. When we walked into the store, literally ready to buy, the guy ignored us completely. He was helping other customers, so of course I gave him the benefit of the doubt, even though he didn’t say«hi» or «be with you in a moment.» We walked around, testing the various futons for comfort. But after about 15 minutes of wondering ALOUD to one another, «what do these cost?» and hoping for him to at least say, «the price tag is on the handle!» to no avail, we grew weary and left. so, fine. terrible customer service. i think i’d forgive him if the futons seemed amazing. but on top of that, all the futons were either hard/flat/lifeless, or overly springy, to the point where i feared springing right off. and i DID have time to try them all. i am only giving two stars because he didn’t spit on me, yell at us, or sell me a broken futon and refuse to replace it. but two isn’t great, buddy. two isn’t great.

The gentleman who runs this store is the most down-to-earth salesman I’ve ever dealt with. He patiently let us try out multiple futons in the store, and he never pressured us to choose any specific model. If you live in the area, they’ll deliver to your door for a very reasonable price. The foldable futon we purchased here less than a third of the price of the cheapest futon at CB2. Futon Plus is probably one of the very few non-«boutique», overpriced furniture stores in Santa Monica.
