I like the food its very good well what I hace tried, but the waitress is rude at times if you don’t order as soon as she steps in front of you she is very rude about it.

I’ve been to New York Deli a handful of times since it’s close to work and I figure it would be hard to screw up a bagel. Wrong. They know how to screw up bagels. Every time. I will give the counter person my order, repeat the order again, and once more because they inevitably repeat it back to me wrong. Let me be clear, I do not have complicated orders. Egg sandwich on an everything bagel with swiss cheese. That’s it. When my order is finally done, no swiss cheese, the eggs are tepid, and the bagel is untoasted. Come on. I inform the girl at the counter that I am missing the cheese, she takes it back to the kitchen. After a few minutes, the bagel is handed off to me with a slice of cold cheese. It was pitiful and barely palatable. It is not only beyond the capacity of the front of house staff to take a correct order, the kitchen cannot make a decent bagel sandwich. I’ve worked in the restaurant business for years, front– and back-of-house. There was no lunch rush, otherwise I would’ve been more understanding. But if a bagel place can’t make a bagel sandwich, it’s a lost cause. Sidenote– I’m pretty sure they use commercial ‘egg product,’ not real eggs. At least that’s what the cook made it taste like.

WOW! quite a long list of health code violations in the paper this week, no wonder I always get diarrhea after I eat here.

Really good Southwest Eggs benedict, fast service(waitress was smoking out front before serving us though. maybe not the best idea) and reasonably priced for Santa Fe.

I ordered the Mediterranean salad, which costs a whopping $ 11. As I am not able to eat high carb foods(pregnancy induced glucose intolerance), I asked if I could substitute the bagel side with cottage cheese. I was told I could not because cottage cheese is much more expensive, and thus I asked to get the bagel to go for someone else to eat. My resulting lunch consisted of a cup of lettuce, 5 olives, a few tomato, cucumber, & onion slices, and a sprinkle of feta cheese. On the side was 1⁄3 cup of cottage cheese. My waitress later came over to tell me that she told the cooks to make a smaller salad to pay for the cottage cheese. What?! After finishing my extremely pricey side salad in a handful of bites, I went home to eat lunch. The experience was a waste of money and time, with poor customer service to boot.

A little hideout for Jewish people in Santa Fe. Not a goof place for a diet and not cheap but big portions, authenticly prepared. Very tasty.

Loved New York Deli! They have a cute patio for outside seating. I ordered a sausage, cheese omelet(shocker). It was really good. Coffee was great! Also, their hash browns are excellent. I liked the inside a lot– they have a cool environment going on. Our waiter was friendly. I just like the feel of the restaurant… it was unique and different, very Santa Fe. I’ll definitely be back!

Had a chance to try the Benedict sampler. three different preps of their six preps are offered. I had traditional, smoked salmon and crab cake. The crab cake was the weakest of the three. Meat was minced and had a mealy texture. The salmon was much better as you expect at a NY deli. The traditional was good. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The dish came with a side of hash browns and a nice cup of fresh fruit. Quite tasty and very filling.

Really really good breakfast! We went in at 2:30 in the afternoon and I got one of the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time! I got the Philly special with steak, green bell peppers, cheese, and smothered with an egg. It was delicious and worthy. It came with a homemade bagel and hashbrowns. I topped it off with the short stack of buttermilk pancakes. They were perfectly cooked with the little crunch. I rounded it all off with a large glass of whole milk for the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Worth every penny

New to Santa Fe, so maybe it is expected to spend $ 12 on breakfast. My tofu, egg scramble came with home fries and a bagel. Too much food for me to eat in one sitting, but if you want to split then they charge you $ 3 for the privilege. Want cream cheese to go with that bagel, that will cost you another $ 1.50. I am used to paying extra for cream cheese but I felt for the cost of the plate they could have thrown in the cream cheese. This is for your run of the mill eggs; want local eggs then cough up another $ 1.50, not sure if that would be for the plate or per egg. Enough about the price… the scramble was very bland; I make my own tofu scramble at home and am well aware that it need a ton of seasoning. The menu said that the tofu was marinated. I was expecting to take a lesson and marinate my tofu, but I can’t believe this tofu was marinated. Home fries were great, perfectly seasoned. Everything bagel(eaten for lunch w/o cream cheese) was very good. My double shot Americana was very good. Hubby got an omelet, home fries, and bagel with cream cheese. He like all of it. His coffee was OK. Service was good. Brought water out to our dogs, kept checking in on us. Given the amount of things they did right, I could be harsh in giving them two stars, but I know I will not go back there based on the the cost alone.

This south-side location leaves much to be desired. Bagels are usually stale, Sr. waitress Debbie is happy to admonish you if you don’t order«correctly» from the menu. Steve, the weekend server is a pro and a delight. Service is slow, food is not consistent, orders generally not 100% correct. Mañana-land mentality at this location! Voicing complaints to the Manager is a waste of time. Nothing changes! This place needs an overhaul, for sure. Go to the uptown deli location(no association, anymore-wonder why?) for a professional and superior service and food experience.

Ok take it from a New Yorker… there is NOTHING about this deli that tastes like real NY deli food. Overpriced as well. Had the smoked salmon with a dry bagel, unfortunately ordered to go, otherwise I would have returned it… ;(I am sick of places claiming to be the real this or that… If you want the real THIS or THAT go there, but don’t go here :)

New York Deli is one of the gems of Santa Fe that I miss the most. The food was always great, excellent and friendly service and the ambiance was second to none. The quaint surroundings provided me with a place to sit, read a book, drink coffee or have breakfast with a friend. I recommend this place for parties of four or less — families and larger parties will most likely feel cramped in the small surroundings. Come early, bring a book and chat with the servers. I went here every weekend for three years and I was never disappointed.

Great little place. The patty melt was very good. The prices are a little high but it is Santa Fe and everything here just seems to be a little more than other places. Great fries, I don’t usually like coleslaw but it was very tasty. My friend said the reuben was good as well. Breakfast stuff looks good as well, will have to try it sometime!

Enjoyable food, dependable service, realistic pricing and free wi-fi! (Please note that this particular review is for the south side location. NYD has recently taken(back) over Bagelmania and I’ll review that one separately.)

This is a review based solely on the bagels, not the other food offered at New York Deli. My experience here was as follows: Me: What are the freshest bagels right now? NYD Worker: They are all fresh. Me: Okay. I’ll take 2 bagels, one green chile and one sesame. I ate them, but they needed to be put in the toaster. Way too stale, dry and pretty flavorless. Even after the toaster, they were still pretty bad. The owner/manager of the place was taking an extra long time to process a credit card for another customer and was gloating to him about a rave review that NYD received: . I don’t know about the other food. But these bagels are some of the worst that I have had in all of Santa Fe. These bagels are small, stale and cost even more than what I typically pay for them in Brooklyn($ 0.60-$ 1 each). Here, they cost about $ 1.25 each. If these bagels are made to owner’s specifications, then I guess the owner appreciates stale, dry and hard bagels. It seems that they all look about the same. The flour being used does not seem to be a High Gluten Flour. It is ponderous why a place who calls itself New York Deli fails to deliver simply on their execution of their bagels. I mean if you cannot get them right, why bother with anything else there?

This place has a great menu selection of bagels, breakfast dishes and sandwiches. I had the Blackstone Benedict plate, poached eggs on an English muffin with guacamole, and tomatoes covered in Hollandaise sauce, with home fries on the side. I left the home fries on the plate(they were mediocre) but the Eggs Benedict was perfect! Our waitress Debbie was a good sport and an excellent server. Quick to seat, take our order and refill my coke. Can’t ask for more than that from a small deli joint.
