Right now, they’re closed renovating. They had a terrific Champagne brunch on Sundays. Nothing over the top. Usually a guitar player in the background, buffet style, and the food is really good. Very comfortable!

During our family reunion, we decided to come here for dinner. The service was excellent and so was the food. The view from the outdoor patio was great as well. It was nice to dine here on a warm night.

Let me start with I LOVEBISHOP’S LODGE. I am disappointed that the restaurant has slipped over the years. I am being generous with 2 stars, mostly because the restaurant staff are amazing as is the view. Based on food, I would struggle with a single star. The menu is dull. The dishes offered are uninspired, chain –like. The breakfast menu included a dish titled, juevos nuevos rancheros. This dish included Bishop’s potatoes and ranch beans. The dish came out the frozen hash browns(zero seasoning, seemingly dumped out of a freezer bag and slightly microwaved), and Ranch-Style beans from a can with zero additional flavor. The eggs were topped with a conservative amount of fancy shredded cheddar. I would expect at least cotija or asadero cheeses. Not acceptable for a restaurant in a resort of this caliber. The waitstaff was gracious and apologetic, perhaps the chef needs a vacation to reinvent the menu.

Went here for an evening out with Friends because this restaurant was featured in «Restaurant Week». Atmosphere was lovely. However, too bad the service there was not up to par. We arrived at 7pm for our reservation for a party of 8. Took the waiter quite awhile to get going and bring our drinks. We inquired about the«Restaurant Week» special. This featured a three course meal for $ 30 per person. The waiter again took awhile to retrieve the proper menus. After leaving us alone for quite some time, the waiter finally came back to take our orders. Each course item took a very long time to arrive. This was a bit appalling since there were only two — 2 top tables in the restaurant besides us when we arrived. Those tables appeared to be nearly done with their meal. The food was just okay and nothing to brag about. Portions are small. The waiter took forever to refill our glasses and always needed to be asked for a refill on drinks. Very slow service and the restaurant was not even busy! When the bill finally arrived, we were all in shock as there was a 20% gratuity tacked on for a large party. 20% for sub par service?(we wouldn’t have minded paying for excellent service but, this was not the case). Also, there was a «resort fee» tacked on as well. Wow… this place is not worth it! Don’t waste your time…

We made reservations for a pre-opera dinner at 5:30. When we arrived, the hostess told me that they were not serving the pre-opera dinner but we had a choice of the bar menu or the Churrasco menu in the dining room. She assured me that we would be finished by 7:15 as requested on our reservation. She said she couldn’t reach me on my phone. She said we could have a drink in the bar since the churrasco would begin at six. My husband had parked at this point and I explained the situation. We tried to enter the bar for a drink and were stopped in our tracks by the bartender/waitress who said, «She will seat you» and sent us out to the lobby. When the hostess returned we were seated. We had a drink and at 6:04 we went to the restaurant. We were seated and met our waiter. He asked if we had ever had Churrasco before. We replied that we had recently returned from South America and had eaten it many times in the states as well as in South America. He then told us that the buffet was not set up yet. We waited until between 6:20 and 6:25 when the buffet was ready. There was no explanation of the dishes on the buffet. there were no names on the salad dressings either. We saw no foods that are normally part of the Churrascaria experience. We went back to our table and ate our salads. When we had finished our plates were taken and we were told the meat would be out soon. At 12 minutes to 7(yes, we were watching the time at this point) a skewer with about 6 pieces of lamb shis-kabob was brought to our table. We looked at the waiter, said yes we would like some and moved our bread plates over to use as we had nothing else. We were each given a cube of lamb. Next came beef cut the same way. We asked what the cut of beef was and he couldn’t tell us. At this point, we got up and went to the buffet and and got ourselves plates. After a few minutes we were offered what was dried-out turkey. At least we had a nice bottle of wine to drink. I am not going to describe what each piece of food was that came out of the kitchen but none of it was served correctly and the churrascaria foods were absent. No Picanha, no Pão de queijo(yucca rolls) or Feijoada were served. The Chimichurri sauce had no garlic that we could taste. We left promptly at 7:15 and were still hungry through the opera which ended at 11:30. We then had to eat something and all we could find was a pancake place. Let me sum up the problems as we see them: 1)The staff needs to be trained on serving correctly. It is not their fault that they are not familiar with churrasco. 2) Label the cheeses and salad dressings, at least. People like to know what is in front of them. For example, there was a bread pudding on the buffet. Diabetics need to know that an item is full of sugar. Dessert is not usually served at the same time as potato salad and brown rice 3) Surely, if the staff can remove plates they can bring new ones or direct diners to get new ones. We were not the only ones using our bread plates at first. 4) Serve at the appointed time. There is a reason people include time constraints in their reservations. By the time the fish appeared, we had paid our check and were standing up to leave. 5) You can email diners with Open Table reservations. You can’t depend on the phone service working with tourists. We were on the Turquoise Trail most of the day. Had we known of the change in menus, we could have changed our reservation and eaten with you on a night when we had no issues with time.
