We used to love this place…, and then the owner tried to put one over on us. We had bought a gift certificate for our daughter a while back, and paid for tax and tip included so she wouldn’t have to pay anything else. Well, our daughter just went to use it and the owner insisted that she pay tax and tip, another $ 14. Our daughter tried to tell her that it was supposed to be tax and tip included, but the owner insisted, so she paid it. My wife called to complain and the owner didn’t recall this happening, though it was 5 minutes later. We will never do business there again.

Small and quaint spa. They were able to work me in on short notice, and did a great job. Only complaint would be be parking, not a lot of space.

I was so fortunate to get an appointment here. I was treated to the most amazing massage. The atmosphere was exactly as I hoped it would be. The cozy southwest décor and peaceful surroundings were wonderful. All who helped me relax and get my mind back on track, from the moment I stepped into the building until I left made my vacation here in Santa Fe. Thank you and I wish I could take you all home with me!

My 87-year-old mother-in-law has been visiting, and after she complained that she had been suffering from neck and shoulder pain we made an appointment for her at Downtown Day Spa. She is a tiny, frail lady, so when I made the appointment I asked that she have someone who would be gentle. When she came home she was in ecstasy, saying it was the best massage she’d ever had. Ramiro worked her neck and shoulders for a long time, she said, and gave her a scalp and ear massage that she said she had never had before. Thank you, Ramiro, for her smiles today!

My husband and I treated ourselves to a couples massage while vacationing in Santa Fe, and I’m so glad we found this spot. It’s in an adorable neighborhood, easily walk-able from the plaza, and we had a great experience. All the staff were friendly and professional, and the ambiance was relaxing. Most importantly, the massage was fantastic. We left feeling incredible. I would highly recommend this spot for a little R&R when in Santa Fe.

My girlfriend got me a massage here for my birthday. They were extremely friendly on the phone as well as in person. The massage itself was the best I ever had. I believe the masseuse’s name was Barbara, but I can’t quite remember. She’s new in town from Los Angeles, I remember her telling me. The whole experience was just really enjoyable. I’ll be back and I’m highly recommending them to anyone who needs a massage.

Following a Groupon, I researched this location for a hot-stone couples massage for my partner and myself. I had called asking a few questions, and Christina’s(the owner’s) follow-up was wonderful. We ended up setting a date and time for today. Upon arrival, we were greeted kindly and warmly, and made to feel at home while our therapists set up our rooms. Once we were taken back, we were asked the usual questions(any tension points, recent surgeries, preferences). This is so nice because we’ve been way too many places where we’re not asked, or we just fill out a form and hope the therapist interprets it correctly. 80 minutes later, we were absolutely relaxed and completely happy. Bruce and our other therapist(I’m embarrassed to have forgotten the name of the other wonderful lady who made our experience complete). They gave us wonderful recommendations on what to do around town after the massage, and it was overall just a wonderful experience!

It’s hard for me to write a bad review for this place for two main reasons. 1. I should have spoke up at the time but I was embarrassed. 2. Theresa(my massage therapist) seemed like a lovely person when I chatted with her briefly before the massage. I was a little worried as soon as I entered the room where the massage took place only because it was so bright! The sun was shining directly into the window and onto the massage table. Because the massage started face down this was okay for the first part but the second part was definitely effected by the brightness in the room. I almost felt as if I was squinting with my eyes closed. I would recommend they use an eye mask or cucumbers to help make it a more relaxing experience . Right before my massage began Theresa asked me if I was using a groupon. This made me question what difference that would make for the massage. Was she not going to try to do as good a job? Was she going to use different oils? I would have possibly been interested in an upgrade had it been offered to me. Next the oil that was used was«unscented»(I’m assuming) but it had a rather unpleasant plastic smell to it. However the worst part of the massage was the order. Once I was flipped over and lying on my back Theresa went immediately from massaging my feet to massaging my face! As someone who still struggles with breakouts I was really mortified. That was a big no no and made me feel very uncomfortable. She also threw around the covers very ungracefully, even leaving me exposed for a minute. Unfortunately, what I was hoping would be a much needed stress relief(I’m here for work) turned into something quite the opposite!

This place is warm, inviting, and very well trained. As an owner of a PT practice, who is also trained in massage and Myofascial release by John Barnes, I feel I am more than qualified to place this exceptional review. I am very confused as to why there has ever been any negative reviews connected to this establishment. My spouse and I received a full one hour couples candlelight massage with 6 chocolates as paid for, and my husband(whom has enjoyed multiple professional massages all over the world) requested an additional 30 minutes, which he has never done. My two 16 year old daughters also reported this was one of their best massages. They too received a full one hour massage, candlelight, and many chocolates. All four of our massages were wonderful, from the aromas to the completely connected touch of each skilled massage therapist; we highly recommend Downtown Day Spa! I would also like to mention the kind hearted receptionist Christine, who opened two hours early on Sunday and greeted us with a smile hot chocolate and warm blankets. She has an aura which radiates a truly compassionate disposition, I feel fortunate to have crossed paths with her uplifting spirited soul. Thank you for our pleasant experiences this morning!

I had a great experience here. Wasn’t sure what to expect paying 40 $ for a massage but it was top notch!

Total Rip Off! Paid in advance for a 90 minute couples massage. We got 39 minutes and then they claimed they«forgot» about the other 51! Owner was suddenly«out of town» too even though I spoke with her 2 hours previously to the appointment. NOTE: After several frustrating phone calls, finally were refunded for their shorting us. Owner and her helpers have retaliated by placing harassing phone calls and libelous accusations on Unilocal.Do they really believe this will want people to do business with them??? BEWARE.

I’m torn on how to rate this place for a number of reasons. I’ve been here twice now. The first time was the most amazing massage I’ve ever had but the bedside manner of the therapists was lacking. Not a huge deal though considering I felt like jelly for days after… it was amazing. I wish I could remember the massage therapist’s name but I don’t have it written down anywhere and the owner/reception was less than helpful. My first visit, I thought the receptionist was the most unprofessional I had encountered at a spa. It took nearly 5 phone calls to figure out if they even had availability on a certain day. Seriously? After the massage I could overlook it and figured they had someone new who had no idea what they were doing. Fast forward to the second visit. My fiancé called to make the appointment for us. I guess it was pretty bad dealing with the receptionist. He was told no less than 4 times that if at any time we asked for more pressure in our massages that we’d be charged extra for«deep tissue.» Talk about putting your customers on the defensive from the get-go. There was a lot of other things mentioned that were extremely off putting(so much so we almost cancelled all together) but the constant reminders about«deep tissue will be an additional $ 20» made me feel like I was getting lectured from my mother. By the way, this is not mentioned ANYWHERE. I wasn’t asking for anything unusual, I just didn’t want to be flogged by a wet noodle for an hour. I called later and asked who my massage therapist was the last time I was there. The receptionist(who i have come to find out is the OWNER… ffs) said they had no record of it because they got rid of their books and are an all paper operation. A minute or so later, she said she had the book for the month my previous appointment was but(interestingly), not the date my last massage was. I don’t know how else to describe it other than just a completely bizarre conversation. When we arrived, she(the receptionist/owner) again gave us the«deep tissue» lecture and that tax and gratuity weren’t included. It wasn’t so much *what* she said but *how* she said it. Very off putting and condescending. When I said none of that was on the Groupon I purchased(and I KNOW it wasn’t because I checked minutes before we walked in), she not only argued with me but took the voucher(so I couldn’t look at it) and said it was. LIAR. It wasn’t the money or the tax or gratuity that I cared about, it was how she handled the whole situation… oh, and made a crack how my fiancé would be charged extra if he were pregnant. I can’t make this up… UNPROFESSIONAL. Also, I know for a fact our massages were cut short. The way she was trying to nickel and dime, I was watching for it and checked my watch when we walked in. Our appointment was right at the hour(1 or 2, I think). We weren’t called in until 10 after(and we were 10 minutes early). We were ready around 15 after and I looked at the clock when they were done… almost 10 before the hour. Yeah… it was supposed to be an hour. It’s really a shame because the massage therapists really are awesome(I really hope they get their tips because some reviews have said the owner has fleeced them). I would love to keep going just for the therapists but I can’t support a business or owner that treats customers like they constantly owe her something or need to be lectured by her. Seriously, not even worth putting up with it for the Groupon deal. Especially if my massage is also cut short. And I have to be a little suspicious when she tries to hard sell and match the price of the Groupon, 2 massages for ~ $ 90 if you buy directly from her. This happened on both visits. BOTTOMLINE: Awesome massage therapists but completely bizarro environment lacking in basic customer service and people skills. Especially phone etiquette. Hostile and a bit passive aggressive. Not sure if it’s entirely intentional or just ignorance. Either way, it’s bad business and not a very zen environment to be creating for relaxation.
