I had the strangest experience at Cruz Gallery. Spent over an hour there with my friend, and ended up ordering a custom pair of earrings from the salesperson who helped us, Daniel Palmer. The next day, I found something that suited me better and attempted to call and cancel my order. They don’t have a phone number so I sent an email. I got the most bizarre, hostile email from the artist(who I hadn’t even met) saying: «We would be happy to cancel your a matter fact I was not going to make those earrings for you anyways. You’re one of those people that take all the joy out of making anything thank you Richard C.» When I checked my credit card statement, they had credited my account before I had called to cancel. So strange. I don’t know what’s going on with those guys, but I wouldn’t recommend shopping there. Especially given the abundance of great customer-oriented jewelers in Santa Fe.

this was just a terrible experience. the problem is not the work carried in the gallery; the problem is the people working there. the«arrogant, hipster, douchebag working the jewelry counter» referred to in another review is surely the person my friend and i met. yikes. he puts so much time and energy into telling you what a badass he is, how rude he is to customers, what a bad reputation he has from culver city to northridge(he’s from LA), that it’s a struggle to actually see any of the jewelry you might like to consider. but my friend and i were each interested in ordering something, so we tried to make the best of it and struggled to proceed. but the ridiculousness, and just plain ickiness, of his rantings became unbearable: my friend placed her order but, before i could place mine, i just had to get out of there. all of that was unpleasant enough. but, wait: it gets worse. the next day, my friend found a better version of the earrings she’d ordered at cruz: as the special order was to take 3 – 4 weeks to complete and less than 24 hours had passed since she’d placed the order, she felt perfectly comfortable — and was completely within her rights — canceling the order. the email she received back from the gallery was signed with the owners name(who we’d never met) but may, for all we know, have been written by the wildly inappropriate salesperson. this email was flabbergasting — it was rude, 100% unprovoked, mean, arbitrary, and just… crazy. who talks that way to ANYONE, never mind to customers? enter at your own risk. there is very bad juju in there.

This gallery was amazing! Except for the dead pan artwork and the arrogant, hipster, douchebag working behind the jewelry counter.

First off the art was atrocious. The boy working behind the counter was pretty scruffy. Looked like he hadn’t shaved in weeks, not because he wanted a beard, but mainly because he just didn’t care about how he looked. He was cursing really loud and unapologetically. Upon trying to get his attention to inquire about the artist, he says, ‘Do I know you?” After that, when I was texting a friend back he asked that I not take pictures of the art. It was pretty ridiculous. I left.

I loved this little gallery on Canyon Road! There are some fantastic and unique small paintings in the front of the gallery that were under $ 100 and several pieces of unique handmade metal and stone jewelry pieces for sale as well. Plus there is a small coffee bar in the back and coffee is only $ 1! It was a much needed pick me up after a day of gallery shopping. Richard, the artist who makes the jewelry was there the day I went and he was super helpful and friendly. There are a ton of galleries on Canyon Road but this one is small and definitely worth checking out.
