this place has great pizza, great calzones, good subs… giving them this review based off their bad service and TERRIBLE pastas. I ordered the ravioli… ten minutes later they finally came and told me they didn’t have it. would have been nice to be informed a little sooner. I settled on tortellini instead. it was horrible. soggy, falling apart, flavorless. the sauce was chunks of tomato in a watery sauce. the garlic bread was stale. the whole thing was awful. I went to ask for a refund and noticed I got 9.25 back instead of 11. «because you ate the salad,» they said. i dunno about other restaurants but at my restaurant if you sell someone food and then you don’t have it you offer them something free to make up for it… and then if you give them something else and it’s disgusting, you refund the full amount. will definitely continue going to Joe’s, but probably will stick to the downtown location… and only stick to pizza or subs. don’t know what I was thinking ordering pasta.

Used to be very good. Now, when ordering the pizza sub, they skimp on everything. My boyfriend ordered double mushroom on his, and it hardly looked like enough for a single order of mushrooms. The sauce was skimpy, too. And there were some areas without sauce or cheese. The falafel in my sandwich, which Joe’s used to have the best, weren’t cooked enough, so they fell apart and tasted«green» instead of cooked. This is the first time the falafel was substandard, but the pizza subs have been substandard for awhile. I don’t think we will try going here any more.

Just a Lil(alot) bummed. 2 things 1. The woman making the sandwiches was wearing a glove. Which is great but she was making the sandwiches with the other hand that had no glove. What the hell’s the point. 2. I ordered extra cheese on my sandwich and was charged for it but when I looked at it there was no extra cheese. I ask the lady if they put extra cheese on it? She nodded yes, I looked at the sandwich then look back at her and said no you didn’t. She said they put the extra cheese underneath the fixings. They didn’t. I mean come on, to lie to my face? What the hell. Ps the sandwich was good anyways. I hope she washed her hand.

I thought this little joint in downtown Santa Cruz was decent. The nice thing is that they had such a variety! Their menu consists of pizza, sandwiches, burgers, Indian food!, and others. Maybe it’s one of those thing where they might be trying to do too much? I had a cheese burger and it was decent; I wouldn’t say it was anything crazy special or good. With how many options there are to eat in this area I’d probably go somewhere else next time, but overall the experience was good. Staff was friendly and they have sports going on several tv’s which I always like. Kind of has the sports bar relaxed feel to it. My wife had the pizza and her only complaint was that it was very greasy, but she still thought it was good.

My typical evening when there is more than one game I am following. TV = Sharks game but was also switching it to the Broncos game this past Monday Phone = updates on the Warriors Ate relatively healthy that day and then I crashed and burned that evening. I had 3 slices of the cheese pizza w/o even stopping for a drink of water. That wasn’t the worst part, I wanted another slice, too but I had some self control because I wanted some cookie butter cheesecake afterwards. They do deliver! Ever since I tried a slice at Joe’s(downtown Santa Cruz location), I’ve been craving it. I love Patxi’s but NY-style pizza is BAE.

the super combo sub is amazing i drive all the way from la selva beach for these sandwiches which are amazing truly a meal! the baklava is astounding the pizza ok but a little oily. Joe the owner passed a few years ago and his sons have filled his shoes very well indeed. Nice family run business with low turnover of staff so they are happy I’m assuming. been coming here 15 years never a bad sandwich.

We use to go to Joe’s all the time in my UCSC days when it was just a little hole in the wall where there’s a Sri Lanka place now. Back then it was just a super nice Lebanese guy named Joe that was working the register everyday with maybe one other person. Don’t see Joe anymore whenever I pass through, and I kind of wonder what happened to him. But the #33 Pastrami, bacon, cheese is still as good as I remembered.

My family have always loved Joes but it should be called Jim’s now… every thing has gone downhill so bad! Horrible service, a broken window and notes on the soda machine I threw most of my food away since it was inedeble then went to the bathroom before leaving, big mistake. Really dirty and gross, broken seat, blood on the wall and layers of dirt, I felt sick.

I used to eat here until today. In the past Joe’s made a decent Cheese Steak sandwich but yesterday Sept 18th I got a cheese steak with lots of uncut chewy pieces of steak. I could barely eat the sandwich so much steak was inedible. I called them today to see if they would make a replacement and they said yes but when I showed up the guy told me the owner would charge me half price. I said no and will no longer eat at joes subs. Good luck Joe.

I had to write an update just to say that Joe’s switched from Coke to Pepsi a while back. For this reason, I’ve basically stopped going. Sad to say one of my main motivations for stopping in here was to get a Diet Coke from the fountain on this side of town(not easy to come by). Still love the middle eastern plate though and will grab a turkey sandwich(#24) when it’s convenient. And I will always love the cheese steak sandwich unless something horrible happens to it.

What a fun place to eat! Its in an interesting intersection of town. On one corner you see a courthouse, another a used car lot with the coolest cars I’ve ever seen, and on other you have a car wash and liquor store. All set in the midst of a residential area with a slopping hill nearby. So, I have to laugh because I find myself saying, what kind of place is this? So much going on in such a small intersection. Joe’s Pizza and Subs feels like a neighborhood restaurant, but its totally worth making your way to if you get the chance. Huge variety of American items to choose from. Hamburger, hot dogs, pizza. The kids were happy! I wanted something a little healthier. And lo and behold they offer Fallafel burgers. I didn’t quite understand what it was when I ordered one. But once again I was being adventurous and ordered something completely out of my ordinary. Well, I’m happy to report it was delicious! Its hard for me to explain exactly what it was but it looked like ground up seeds and nuts. Fantastic meal and I didn’t feel the guilty of eating anything too heavy or greasy. Sooo good!!! They also offer Baklava and a wide variety of delicious juices and drinks to choose from. I was very impressed with the whole set up. This joint feels a bit on the older side. I also noticed the dust on the lamp shades had been collecting awhile. So, I feel they could use some updating and at the very least some deep cleaning to the place. Other than that, just wonderful food and service! Its a fast food joint but you can stay to eat if you want. The beach isn’t close enough to walk to, so you better off just staying a little bit to eat. Totally wonderful place to come enjoy a meal!

Much better than last year. Better cooks and staffing in general. Better food too.

The food is decent. The staff needs to brush up on their service skills. Making customers wait is not good. Not saying hello to the customers is not good. Not saying«Thank-you» to customers is not good. I could go on, but you get the point.

I had Joe’s super sub. The meats in it were ok, and the bread was good. Food was made fast and brought to the table. I also liked that the had a big screen TV with sports highlights on.

This place makes the best subs!!! I usually have to wait about 10 minutes but it’s well worth it. I’ve never tried their pizza but I’m sure it’s good. I don’t think I would get a sub sandwich from anywhere else.

The food is good and reasonably priced. After getting treated like a second rate citizen at the Pacific ave location I decided to try branciforte instead. The girl at the counter was on her phone and I had to wait untill she was done to order. After I ordered it took 10 mins for someone to Start making the food. Now I sit here watching my food being made and the people making my food are not wearing gloves ones isn’t even wearing a uniform. I feel like I should probably just throw my food away. Especially since the girl who handed it to me is currently also mopping. Won’t ever be back that’s for sure.

I ordered Spicy wings and Lasagna for Delivery. The delivery driver was really nice but they gave me regular wings with no sauce. I called asking what they were going to do and I could not understand a word the lady was saying(horrible english) The food was OK. Its been over an hour and now my wings are cold. I called again becuase I couldt understand the lady. They said they would send the driver over with some spicy sauce. That would be great if my wings haven’t been sitting on the counter for over an hour practically frozen now. HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE. I would have kept going to this place if they replaced my wings like they should. YOU guys messed the order up and I have to pay for it? I JUSTGOTMYSAUCE. LOLCOLDSAUCE, FRIESANDWINGS… YUM!!! Would be stoked if the company saw this review and did something about it because I wont be returning till something is fixed here… Guest check :238223 Server: TI-50

This rating is only for their delivery, and not their food(but I will redo this rating AFTER actually going to eat there.) I only ordered from them because they’re on –which means they should DELIVERYONTOCAMPUS. Which they do not in fact do, am I the only one confused? Yeah, ok. Customer service over the phone was very nice. I’m sure the food would have been good too. This rating pretty much is unfair, but I only wrote it to give people a warning. They only delivery within 2 miles of their site.

My spinach calzone was excellent – lots of nicely seasoned, properly cooked spinach, onions, olives, two kinds of cheese(but not too much), a thin, crispy/chewy crust. Gf’s lentil soup & cheese & avocado sub were good, too. And they have beer! Bonus: garlic powder on all the tables. Just try finding *that* at the downtown SC Pizza My Heart!

Small place with great food. We had a Falafel salad, a Falafel sandwich and a Pizza. The falafel were great, and the Pizza had good mozzarella cheese. I would stop to eat here again.
