This location gives better portion than the one on Stevens Creek. I usually get the beef and chicken combination. The food is decent to eat… not expecting 5stars taste and service. Overall it is very decent default place to go. SADLYTHISSTOREHADBEENCLOSEDASOF12⁄29. I was shocked passing by this place yesterday and everything were gutted out. Even the sign in the front was gone. A little sad and disappointed.

Terrible news! Only a week after I was singing the praises of Yoshinoya as my go-to lunch spot, I was greeted with the news of the store’s impending closing on 12÷29÷15. As soon as I saw that dreaded sign, the inner Darth Vader in me couldn’t help but belt out an exasperated, «Nooooooooooo!!!» This place has been here for so many years, and now, just as I thought I’d found something I could depend on for the long term, it is yanked away in an instant. Oh well, it won’t be the first time that has happened. The only remaining Bay Area location is in Cupertino. As mentioned in my original review, it is still baffling why Northern California hasn’t been more receptive to Yoshinoya.

I remember coming here as a child. That’s all. Decided to eat here 10+ years later, but there’s not much to say about this place. Upon entering, my boyfriend and I were the only customers there. The atmosphere was so sad. I ordered the chicken bento combo which comes with teriyaki chicken, rice, 2 pieces of fried shrimp, 2 pieces of chicken wings, 1 piece of of a California roll, and a side of salad. The food was average as are most fast-food joints. The only thing I really enjoyed was the shrimp. I probably won’t be coming back anytime soon. Maybe in another 10 years if the place is still open.

Let me start by saying I ate at a yoshinoyas about 15 years and I enjoyed it. So decided to try the one one on El Camino in Santa Clara. First of all, I was greeted with very warm air, one door was open though. Where the AC? Are the staff tight fisted? The dishes to be eaten at restaurant was served in to-go containers(at least if you were at happy house restaurant, it’s served on plates) The food was just ok. It seemed more filled with rice then protein. Steamed veggie was very soggy and bland(cabbages carrots and broccoli) I thought chicken was ok but my party tried it and commented it was nasty and boiled/microwaved. Also who runs out of Pepsi(as a fountain drink) I don’t think there Pepsi supplier would drop the ball, but the restaurant said they ran out of Pepsi during a holiday weekend. More minor negatives: staff was too loud in back. The crew in back was talking loudly. While the a young lady who handled drive thru was multi trasking efficiently. The young lady also did garbage duty and bathroom clean up duty. The older woman and middle aged was clanking pots and talking loudly(in own lingo) The heat was already annoying, but to hear noisey stuff and staff just added to a bad experience. Oh and no music to boot. Egg rolls were crunchy however it was all shell and very very very little and very flavorless fillings. Lastly two people from our group got a very bad tummy ache and the other got a severe headache. Think quality of food and ambience have subsided deeply. Good food and customers comfort seems to be on bottom of list. Don’t think we will be back to this one specifically.

Maybe I have low standards when it comes to Japanese food, but this place is just down the street from work. Food is decent for what you pay for. I usually get the chicken teriyaki bowl for lunch along with an order of fried spring rolls. If I’m hungry for something more, I’ll get a bento box. The wings are decent appetizer. I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than $ 10 here and they’re pretty quick, I don’t usually wait no more than 5 minutes. Parking can be a pain since they only have 6 spaces & most of those are probably taken by the workers. Overall not a bad place, but like I said, I might have low standards to when it comes to Japanese fast food.

The only reason I eat here is the fond memories I had eating at Yoshinoya as a kid(I’ve been going since the 1980s). I walked into this location and pulled out a chair – my hand felt sticky. I took another seat, the table was really sticky. The place was almost empty and there was only one party of 4 in the entire restaurant. They could have cleaned 75% of the place and not disturbed a single person. I felt dirty eating there and left quickly. The hand dryer in the bathroom had warped the wallpaper. Is this Santa Clara or Tijuana? I’m Mexican, I’ve been there a few times. There is a fast food timer that beeps when they take too long to finish a drive-thru order. Not a good experience if you’re eating IN the restaurant. Turn the beeper off and just let us dine in peace. They replaced miso soup as an option and now have clam chowder. Who decided a Japanese restaurant needed clam chowder, but NOT miso soup? An idiot. That’s who. A sriracha bottle is in the condiment tray. A bit out of place in a Japanese restaurant, kind like vegemite or mayonnaise, but to each their own, I suppose. The food was pretty much what I expected and craved. I’ll return because of nostalgia, but no other reason. I wouldn’t recommend this place, but I hope they stay open forever. Mixed message, I know.

I’ve been to another location, in Chula Vista, San Diego. My experience there was pretty bad, although the food was okay. This employee behind the counter wasn’t sassy this time, thankfully, but I could barely hear her. I ordered the Grilled Tilapia with vegetables and a Mountain Dew. It was a bit over $ 8.00 with tax. That’s not bad for fish. If I’d gone to a Korean take out restaurant at Lawrence Plaza, it would have been over $ 12.00. The food was good, and great for the price. The service was okay. I didn’t get chopsticks, so it was a little messy using the plastic fork.

Came at 3pm on a weekday when most restaurants are closed. I haven’t had Yoshinoya since 10+ years ago, so I had a total hankering for my childhood food. I’m not sure how it could be terrible or amazing. Yoshinoya is a chain, after all… The downside at this joint is that it’s cash only. It’s small and bit run down, but I don’t really care. I paid less than $ 6 for my meal and left! Compared to my childhood memories, the veggies seemed a little slimy and the meat is way fattier than I expected. But then again, did I care that much about texture and meat fattiness as a kid? Portions are big for a regular bowl and I was impressed by how much food they lodged in my little bowl. I’ll be back.

I LOVELOVELOVEME A BEEFBOWL! I first discovered this place in SoCal and I try to make a stop here everytime I go because it’s so far from me… or so I thought! Halleluja for a Bay Area/Peninsula location! Beef bowls are around $ 5.50 and the large beef plate is $ 6.50, that’s pretty much all you need to know and you can thank me later :)

I like it, plain and simple. The building is crappy and they are always under staffed but the salty as hell beef bowl is tasty to me. Everyone I go with hates it, so uhm there is that too. They do have a drive through and a few parking spaces if you want to eat there. Cannot truly reccomend to others but I find myself here occasionally even though there are plenty of options locally for better quality food.

Eating here was just a bad idea. My food was bland and looked as it was cooked in a microwave. Experiences like this makes me regret not looking up reviews in the name of being«adventurous.»

Waited at the drive thru for over 10mins. I was the only one there at 9pm last night. When I drove by, I saw two customers inside. Then I pulled up to order, there was no acknowledgement from the staff. I waited, assuming theyre probably busy. 5 minutes later, nothing. So I decided to make a phone call to kill time… 10 minutes into the call, I then realized, There’s still no acknowledgement. So I pulled up to the window and saw the lady in front with no customers at the counter, she looked at me, I looked at her, it was so awkward. And I left. Poor service!!! Give. This place too many chances and always disappointed. Never going back.

We came from out of town, and ordered 7 beef bowls and a side of wings. There were only two employees there that day so the employee at the register informed us that our order would take awhile. She was super polite and we were more than willing to wait. Our beef bowls were perfect, our wings were even better. We were extremely impressed that the two employees were able to hold down the fort and quickly supply food to an endless line of drive through customers and a grumpy dining room.

I am a frequent customer, and I love Yoshinoya food, my favorite soup is claim chouder, on my lunch break, or after work I stop by and order food for to go, and it was happened before I get a the wrong food, or they forget put a spoon and fork, so when I get back to the office I have only fingers to eat soup lol … I have never complained, but today is really snapped, it is high time to repair or replace the intercom for ordering, employees are not being heard, today I again got the wrong food, and if I repeated four times without rice in both orders was tons of rice, they had not even giyoza, or mizo soup, so I ordered 3 c.c. soups and they forget to put a crackers, and with tilapia they did not put mixed salad in a sauce, instead than, they give me a separate fresh salad, … Come on people you know better then that…

Sadly… The average food is now completely unacceptable. Weird chicken parts. Lots of chicken skin. Chicken bones. Tiny shreds of frozen chopped vegetables, now over cooked to complete limp ness. Very very poor quality. Never going back.

They ran out of chicken. Besides that the food wasn’t good. Everything seemed frozen and just heated up like the potstickers and veggies. Definitely weren’t freshly cut up veggies. But I guess what do you expect for fast food Japanese type food.

What can I say. Yoshinoya’s Beef Bowl brings back some intense childhood memories. Every week, on the way home from tennis lesson(in Tustin, CA), we would pick up some Yoshinoya from the drive-thru. All the way home, it was pure torture for me to hold the bags with the bowls in them, the sweet aroma of beef and onions and sauce drifting out, but I can’t touch it until we get home. That ride home was always the longest ride. At this particular location, I have one nitpick — the drive-thru is kind of hard to navigate, especially in my minivan. Twice now I’ve rubbed rubber against the curb, and once I think I actually jumped a curb trying to navigate. It felt like Autopia in Disneyland, except this time I wasn’t trying to jump the track on purpose. The food — oh, the food, the food! To buck the trend of my childhood, I ate my Beef Bowl in the car(yes, while driving — not a good idea, but I was thankful for the many red lights I encountered). Steamy rice drenched with sauce that’s delicate and not too salty, nice fat slices of beef(is it the brisket cut? someone help me out here) laced with melt-in-your-mouth onion. What’s not to like? Yoshinoya, as long as you are around, I will reminisce about my childhood.

One of two Yoshinoyas in the Bay Area. Why only two!?! As my go-to spot whenever I was hungry during Grad School, I almost always make time when I head down to Southern California to try and get my Large Beef Bowl fix in. Yes, it’s probably not the best cuts of beef… yes, half of it is fatty meat… but how else would explain how delicious this place is time and time again? I don’t care what people say, this place is amazing. And my tummy thanks me after every visit. Now if only they would open one up North of 237.
