I am clearing out my photos on the phone, and catching up on reviews. This is the first photo. I came to Seoul Jang late one evening last week. I had intended to get dinner at Jang Su Jang, but tiredness got the better of me and I opted for faster fare at Seoul Jang in the Lawrence Mall Food Court. There was no line to order, and food came out in less than 10 minutes. I ordered the combo with tofu soup and beef. From the color of the pic, you can see that the tofu soup was very mild in flavor and spice. The kimchi also lacked vinegar and spiciness, and was too sweet. But I came here for convenience and to fill my belly after a long day. In that aspect, Seoul Jang did the job.

My brother and I couldn’t decide on where to go for our Sunday lunch but we were leaning towards Korean food, so we decided to go to the Korean food court and I’m glad we did! It was between this eatery and the BBQ one right next to it — I opted for this one because I was craving tofu soup! Tofu soup is one of my favorite soup choices across the many different ethnic choices and Seoul Jung’s tofu soup is pretty good :). Here, you can choose the tofu soup on its own(with rice, sides, and fried fish) for ~$ 11 or go for the daily special that has the tofu soup, rice, sides, and meat dish ~$ 15 if you’re feeling especially hungry :). I appreciated this value meal! The side dishes were as good as any Korean restaurant. The meat was delicious. The tofu soup was a little thicker than what I would like but the flavor was top notch! I asked for the spiciest level available but it’s still not as spicy as the spiciest level at BCD or SGD tofu house. There are plenty of tables available in this food court and a nice snow dessert place in the same court. We went right towards the end of peak lunch time so many tables were still full of dishes to be cleared, but there were still some seats available :). I would recommend coming here for a nice lunch!

The bim bim nangmyon, spicy cold noodle, was watered down. There was lots of liquid in my bowl, and I felt I was eating cold noodles in water, despite the peppery color. What a shame because I was looking forward to satisfying my craving. The condiments were small portioned too. There was ONE brocolli, a bit of Jap chae, and kimchi.

I had high hopes for the food here. I had the bibimbap and my hubs had soondubu. Both dishes were meh. They charged me 25 cents for a to-go container but I don’t really feel like eating the leftovers.

This used to be decent Korean food. Now it’s become one of the worst foods I ever had. Pork is all fat and no pork. Fish is all salt and oil. Kimchi is tasteless. Beans are raw. Stone pot bibimbop looks good in picture but tastes like soggy sugar rice.

Not bad for a place located in a food court! I came here with my parents on NYE after seeing the huge line for Jang Su Jang, and thankfully there weren’t too many people waiting in line here. After browsing the menu for some time, I finally decided on the hot stone bowl with tofu, no egg. The food took a while to make — it was probably around 10 – 15 minutes before it was ready and my buzzer sounded. Upon picking up the tray of food, I was pretty excited. I hadn’t realized that the order would come with a plate of side dishes and soup, so that was a pleasant surprise. Most importantly, the food tasted great — with the exception of the soup, which was cold, and the kimchi, which I’m not normally a fan of anyway. The main dish — the hot stone bowl — was exactly how I imagined it when ordering. There was a good amount of rice(actually too much, in my opinion), the vegetables and tofu tasted great, and the spicy sauce it came with was good, too. Overall, I’d recommend this particular place if you take a visit to the food court! While the prices are a bit high for a food court, the portion sizes are on the generous side. Service is also on the slower side(for a food court, at least), but the food is decent!

Located in the Lawrence Food Court, this mall restaurant offers anything from soft tofu soup to bbq beef ribs. I was disappointed at their selection: they didn’t even have kalbi! Which I’m been craving for the longest time. Hoping that the bbq beef ribs was kalbi, I ordered the bbq beef ribs. This bbq beef ribs was nothing like kalbi. It was full of fat and tendons. The only positive thing that I can say about this grab and go was that the sweet potatoes stewed with the bbq beef ribs was tasty. The sauce was not bad either, Like I said, I ordered the bbq beef ribs and kimchi soft tofu. Usually not a big fan of kimchi, but decided to go all out Korean. The appetizers at this place was also tasty. They had japchae, squid, fish, and kimchi. I was overall satisfied with my meal. The quality of the bbq beef ribs though is why I give it 3 stars.

Not the best tofu I’ve had… but definitely not the worst. First off, prices are not that cheap here, despite it being in a food court. It’s pretty much what you would pay for tofu stew at a restaurant. I decided to get their chicken tofu stew(mild). Food was out in less than 10 min. But the tofu wasn’t sizzling hot… it wasn’t even bubbling. There’s no way you would be able to cook an egg in it, not that they even give you an egg here. There also wasn’t that much tofu in the stew… it was mostly soup. Spice levels here are a little on the tame side, in my opinion. I barely tasted any spiciness in the«mild.» Each person gets their own small tray of side dishes. I didn’t really fancy any of them except for the kimchi. I really liked the kimchi here :) It’s also nice that they default to purple rice here. A lot of other places charge extra for that. So yeah, overall, not terrible, but I’ve had better. Much better.

Typical Korean food, $ 13 for a hotpot bibimbap. I can find a better bibimbap at a different place for the same price. They use sweeter red rice for it which threw me off at first. Old ahjumma(lady) at the counter needs to cheer up, she just looks miserable. Their hot pepper paste tastes different, maybe less flavor. The place also charges you for boxes and plastic if you want to bring your leftovers home, so if you dont think you can finish your dine-in food, I suggest just skipping to to-go right away. Not coming back, too many Kfood places nearby to stick with this one, even though it is close to work.

I ordered the bulgogi bibimbap! Nothin like a spicy bibimbap to end the week! However it was overpriced for what it is, also it was under seasoned(I had to ask for a extra gochujang). Timing, I’d say it took the store about 10 minutes to make the dish because I was able to listen to 4 songs on my ipod whilst waiting(it takes me around 30 minutes to prep bibimbap at home). Overall the place wasn’t bad. I will return eventually. Ps sometimes the place packs up randomly so make sure someone is at the table when your buzzer goes off or risk getting seat jacked

I’ve only gotten the dolsot bibimbap(stone pot fried rice), but the portion is really big and tastes are on par. Nothing spectacular. Side dishes are kind of whatevers. Probably wouldn’t come here on my own volition, but don’t mind following a group that wants some cheap Korean eats.

Tofu soup. Seafood pancake. Shrimp have heads on them showing they are fresh Food court allows u to browse between several different places before buying. They have displays of the food so u can see the quality and portion sizes before buying. More than 1 person can finish. ~15/person

This place has the WORSTSERVICE I have ever experienced with Korean restaurants! My friend is on a very strict vegan diet for 2 months due to religious beliefs, so we thought it was great they offered tofu bimbimbap. He ordered at 7:44 pm, there were only a couple customers but he still waited 20 minutes for his food. When the order was finally ready and he took a bite off the bowl, he realized the messed up in the order of tofu bimbimbap, and gave us BEEF instead! He was so hungry and waited for a very long time so he thought of just picking the beef out, but there was too much beef so we decided to ask them to change it. They handled customer recovery in such a bad manner! When he brought the food back to the cashier she said, «I THINK I GAVEYOURTOFUBIMBIMBAPTOANOTHERCUSTOMER. GOFINDTHEMANDSWITCHFOOD.» Are you serious!!! You never tell this to your customer! If it was your mistake, you gladly make a new order and apologize! The whole issue wasn’t fully fixed until 8:30 pm! We WAITEDALMOSTANHOUR for the food to get to us! This isn’t even the end of my rant. The server was not apologetic at all. When he finally received his order, they didn’t give him a food tray or utensils. He had to get up twice! After all the mistakes they have already made, he still had to go back up to the counter to get utensils and side orders because they forgot! Oh I added a picture of the napkin they gave us. They gave one napkin and it was ripped in half! I would definitely not come back to this restaurant. Definitely the worst Korean restaurant I have ever encountered thus far! Do yourself a favor and order your food someplace else.

I wanted some soon dubu jjigae and I didn’t want to go to a typical restaurant. Down south in Garden Grove, there is a food court like this one in Arirang Super Market. The food there is good and inexpensive. This one wasn’t so cheap for the tofu stew, but they had many choices, and I ordered the seafood type. After paying, she gave me the receipt and an electronic beeper type of device, to alert me when the food was ready. It took about as long as if I was making the food, though I’m not very good at making it. It was bubbling as expected and there were 3 ban chan, including chap chae noodles, seaweed stem, and kimchee. Everything was good enough, but not great. However, it wasn’t that much different from Jang Su Jang that is also in the shopping center. The woman who took my order seemed friendly enough, but the other woman never took her phone from her ear the whole time I was there.

Located in the Lawrence Plaza Shopping Center, Seoul Jung is one of six restaurants that occupy the food court. Today we tried the #3, the hot stone bibimbop. This traditional Korean dish comes with purple rice, egg, beef, bean sprouts, cucumbers … the usual. You also get three small side dishes with your order — broccoli, Kim Chee, and noodles. The noodles were so awesome my husband was tempted to ask the white guy sitting next to us for his! Overall, it was a good lunch.

A great place to grab a quick bite to eat if you are craving korean food. I got the bibimbap hot stone bowl, which was pretty delicious considering it was«fast food». In terms of fast? Not so much, but at least I didn’t have to wait to for a waiter or for my check. Just go up to the counter, order, and get your beeper. When you’re done eating, just leave your food on the table. They have employees busing the tables frequently. Convenient. There are lots of seating choices in the food court Seoul Jung is located in, but it can get crowded during the lunch hour. Dinner seems to be more of the downtime for this place as there was plenty of seating when I ate there, which was around 5pm on a Saturday night. My only dislike about my bibimbap bowl was that my egg came already fried. I like my raw egg so that I can swirl and mix into the rice bowl. That way I can make sure every bite has some egg. Not a big deal to me though. The portions are generous and I was stuffed by the end of the meal. I wish there were more banchan choices as there are in traditional korean sit-down restaurants, but I understand that a tray can only hold so much. There was enough to keep me contemplated(about 3 choices — side soup, kimchi, egg omelette, and soybeans).

Aside from being overpriced(is $ 11.96 for dolsot bibimbap standard in the Bay Area???), the service is good and the food is delicious. To make this short: — Good food — Only 3 banchan/side dishes served with each meal — Good service — Good location — Overpriced — There’s plenty of other restaurants in the area that serve the same dish and will offer more than 3 banchan with each meal. — If it wasn’t so expensive, I’d go back.

I was craving Tofu soup, but since Khoa N. had already eaten I didn’t want to drag him along to a sit down restaurant for him to watch me eat … so to K-Town it was! I ordered the Seafood tofu soup which came with purple rice, kimchi, japchae and bean sprouts. The soup came with a lot of clams and two shrimp, looked flavorful but lacked in that department. She asked me how spicy for the soup so I just said normal/medium. The soup tasted water down– despite the amount seafood, the tofu was soft but the lack in a flavorful soup base made the whole dish feel lacking in a way plus it was nowhere spicy at all. The sides were just alright. I like their kimchi and bean sprouts, but found the japchae overly peppered. Price reflects the quality of food, but definitely go elsewhere for a more flavorful dish. As with other reviews have stated, Seoul Jung lacks in flavor and quality of food.

Stopped in here as I was furniture and mattress shopping in the area. It’s a place in the Korean food court in this plaza with nice couple of food choices. I got its namesake the soon tofu(mix) my favorite. Soup was good and I liked that there were entire shrimp in the soup too. The side dishes that came with quite good as well, really enjoyed the cold noodle side dish. It’s a standard Korean place and conveniently located in a food court. Ideal if you’re wanting a quick dinner on your own and don’t want to go in a full restaurant. At just under $ 10 after taxes, it’s a great dinner option.

Prior to Seoul Jung, I never had Korean food that I didn’t enjoy. But there’s a first time for everything, right? I totally didn’t want to finish my beef bibimbap($ 10) and seafood pancake($ 10). The pancake was soggy with oil and not crispy at all, a major letdown given that a crispy pancake is usually one of my favorite Korean dishes. There’s no way this pancake could’ve been undercooked this much unless it was done intentionally. The amount of beef in my bibimbap was very meager, and the veggies didn’t taste too fresh. The side dishes were ok, and the vegetable broth(winter melon?) had a pure though not overpowering flavor. 1.5 stars overall, rounded up because I believe a 1-star rating should be reserved for truly horrendous experiences. At least this place had some positives, but not nearly enough to convince me to return. Should’ve gone to Jang Su Jang next door as originally planned.
