BUGSBUGSBUGSBUGS… Come here only if U want bugs in your soup… I practically threw up what I eat and the server tried to take it away n not let us take the picture… his tone was at a pitch where I could hear from one end of the place to the other yet he was standing next to me.

As a Chinese, I don’t find this Chinese place very satisfying. The taste of food is not very good and the service is awful. They only accept cash under $ 10 and will charge an extra half a dollar if you use credit/debit card.

Bad service. Food is awful but people who serve had such a trash attitude! It is as though they do not want you to come!

While the service is somewhat lacking, the food came hot and quickly after ordering. The rice seemed freshly made, and the chicken was of good quality. One issue was that I ordered a mango milk tea but got a mango slushy instead. However, the drink still tasted good so not a problem. The main appeal to me is the price– very reasonable and you could easily make two meals from an order. A good place to go for a quick, cheap eat!

Been coming here for years for a cheap meal on those lazy days, but not anymore. We sat down and an ugly, short man gave us menus then stood there. I told him we needed a minute to decide and he said, «No, need to order now!» We know the owner, but he wasn’t there that night so we couldn’t let him know about the rude server. Prices have also increased significantly. Not worth it for what you get, very bland food. Watch the server’s thumb when he brings your noodle soup, too… it’s usually in your soup. We used to try and grab our bowl off their tray to avoid that. Blech!

I can’t complain about this place, they are fast and prices are reasonable. I love going here for some soup!

Old reliable. Nothing that blows your socks off, but you also know what you’re getting. The broth is always a little bland, that’s why they have that huge condiment tray for your dress up needs. I love their rice noodle soups, and their taro/carrot cake with egg. Be quick about what you want to order because if you ask them to come back in a few, it may be more than just a few minutes, and then a lot more few minutes. They don’t like to come around very often.

This used to be a good Restaurant. This used to be my favorite restaurant. Over the years its been lacking quality. Also it’s very loud in the restaurant, so if you think about having a nice quiet date with your significant other, you can forget it. The workers yell at each other from across the room. The food gets worst as the years goes by. The fried pork skin were expired the last time I went there. I got sick from eating from that place because of the uncooked food they serve us. Don’t order the Large, it’s a scam. It has the same amount of noodles as the small.

Don’t do it. I got sick after eating here. They used to be good but the quality has gone downhill. I had the: #9, Combination Won Ton Noodle Soup(Prawn, Chicken, Pork, Beef Ball, Won Ton, Onion, and Bean sprout.) The shrimp tasted funky I took one bite and didn’t eat the rest. My sister had the Combo Chow Fun. Told them no shrimp. Surpise, they put shrimp in it. Anyways, it was really greasy the veggies did not taste fresh. Don’t know if they changed owners/cooks in the past year but there’s a food court right next door you could try your luck there. Happy Eatings.

This place is not that great. They charge you for substitutions and anything extra. I understand that you need to keep the cost down. They also charge 25 cents for to go box. The food didn’t have any taste. The veggies was broccoli and cabbage. You can tell it was cheap veggies and meat. The place is dirty and the customer service was bad. Never going back.

I finally tried this place for the first time last night! My friend brought me here and I was a little hesitant cuz I’ve never tried it. I ordered a large #9, which is theirs combination won ton soup for about $ 7.50. The noodles were cooked perfectly! Not too soft and not hard! There was also tons of veggies and meat piled on top. So you get more of the toppings than the noodles which I prefer. This place is cheap and super fast! They also have a huge variety so your bound to find something you like! They are also very attentive and have plenty of seating for large or small groups! I will definitely be back to try more dishes here!

I’ve been coming here literally my whole life. As a Vietnamese American, who doesn’t live in SJ, when I’m craving Viet food, this a decent alternative for certain Vietnamese-Chinese foods that is much closer to me, so my family has come here quite a bit. Food has always been consistent, and service is fairly quick and attentive. It used to be TK Noodle, and I’m not quite sure when it changed names as my family still refers to it as Tung Kee. A few of my family’s favorites include the fried taro cake, always large and when we order we specify that we want it extra crispy, the #1 hu tieu trieu chau, which is like a rice-noodle soup with shrimp and pork, and the combination chow fun. Most of their foods are pretty satisfying including their rice dishes even though I didn’t name any. Overall yummy and affordable food.

Food is solid. Flavorful, consistent, fast, and a good deal. This is one of few restaurants that I would eat at and forget where I have eaten, because there is nothing particularly good or bad. On a recent visit, the food was better than ever(in a forgettable way). Hubby’s favorite is the Combination Crispy Noodles. The garlic sauce tastes good. We come here because of this. Their Beef Balls are very flavorful. I like how flavorful the soups are in the Curry Duck Vermicelli Soup and the Beef Stew Vermicelli Soup. I also like their Three Color Drink(pink) more than drinks from Bambu. However, it maybe too sweet for some people. I like the good amount and variety of veggies available in some dishes, but wish the veggies are not bitter. This restaurant is definitely not for someone who prefers natural and organic food.

Food is always good, but sometimes the portion changes outta randomness. Service is not that great, but they do get you what you ask for within minutes. I always get the chow fun… never tried their milk teas yet, cause I assume it’s the same as every other milk tea place.

Ugh. Thought I’d try an old favorite, but in the booth next to me, an unruly little boy is using backward chopsticks as drumsticks, banging them on the table, the booth divider, and then sticking them back into the chopstick caddy. To think that someone else will be unknowingly using those kid-handled chopsticks is disturbing. There’s noodles and salt all over the table. The parents give zero f*cks. Now he’s throwing a wet straw at his mom. It missed her and the straw is in my booth. The other kid is using the booth divider as a table – balancing her soup bowl on it while scooping stuff into her mouth. I give her points for being resourceful. I don’t think I’ll be eating here ever again. The waitstaff also give zero f*cks. What a lovely dining experience. :-P The soup itself was good, and I received it fast – but after this floor show in the next booth, I will insist on getting stuff to go… with disposable chopsticks. I do not envy the job the waitstaff have in cleaning their aftermath. Ecch. Upon exiting, I requested that the restaurant wash all the chopsticks in that booth. They took care of it promptly. The cashier was disgusted as much as I was, and it’s not their fault that their clientele are sometimes pigs. My original review gave 2 stars, I give them one more for their prompt response.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been here but confirmed that they changed owners(not sure when). Once entering today, the waiter gave us two menu and gestured to pick a table at which to sit. We ordered #1, #83, and #29 which was the daikon flour cake. When our food arrived, I asked if the flour cake was daikon because it looked like taro. The server confirmed it was daikon. My dad and I started eating it and we had doubts that it was daikon so we called the waiter over. The waiter assured us that it was daikon. I explicitly asked him if he was sure it was #29(daikon) and not #30(taro). He insisted that it was #29. As my dad and I ate another piece, we were absolutely sure that it was taro and we called the waiter over. I told him this was taro and not daikon. He took the dish back to the kitchen and then came out saying that I was right and that it was #30 taro and not #29. Damn straight I was right! Both the waiter and server didn’t know the difference between daikon and taro! I haven’t been here in a while and after the experience today when they were arguing with me on the flour cake and they just didn’t know their dishes… Not coming back here again. There are plenty of better places in the same price range to go to in the area!

Well, where do I begin… First, if you read my reviews enough times, you’d know my belief in reviewing two types of dining experiences: either A) so good wanting to share with the world, or B) so bad wanting to warn others — middle of road? What’s the point of reviewing… HaHa Second, it’s business 101 — if something is working, unless you can significantly make it better, why mess with it — example: Old coke vs New coke formula a few years(or decades) back, and eventually going back to Old Coke! King Noodle, once upon a time I’d frequent 2 – 4 times per week, now I probably only patronize because I’m short on time and it’s close. Yesterday I found myself in such a predicament… For years, King Noodle has been my go to place for a quick bite. I always get one of three benchmark dishes there. 1. Beef Noodle Soup(#11), 2. Pan-fried Egg Noodle(#23) and 3. Mongolian Beef(been so long, I can’t remember the number). Like the old TV show Cheers, Justin(owner’s brother-in-law) was the customer service, others couldn’t be bothered to be there. As I sat down, he’d ask me #11 or #23? Don’t you like that? ^_^_^_^ The restaurant itself is nothing special to speak about, but if the food is decent, you had my business pretty much for life(as long as I’m living in the neighborhood), The last few months, I started to notice they’ve been messing around with the way these three benchmark dishes. Here is a breakdown: 1) Beef Noodle Soup: Previously, the soup broth was savory, they used quality meats that even contained nice soft beef tendons, now not only the broth has been diluted, they use cheap stew meats that are tough as rock 2) Mongolian Beef: they used to use a Satay sauce that was flavorful and the sauce over the rice plate was dark and had kick to the taste. Now, they switch the sauce, perhaps eliminatingit altogether and used much cheaper regular soya sauce, now it’s terrible! 3) Table Condiments: even this the table condiments they had to mess with. they used to have this deep-fried hot sauce that was sooo very tasty, and these condiments are a big part of my dining experience there. Without it, it’s just not the same. Now, they switch it to, undoubtedly, a much cheaper chili oil that just wasn’t the same.
Apparently, King Noodle has decided to change everything that I used to love so as to get more margin(BTW, they also increase their food pricing at the same time.), and I believe this will turn off many loyal customers like myself — I don’t see them anymore. Their customers tend to be newer ones so they know nothing to compare it to. Unless like yesterday that I found myself nearby and short for time, I’d never go again which is kind of sad, because I had been coming here at least 10 years, now I simply hate it! (Upon posting this review, one if my Unilocal friends’ suggested Luu Noodle in Mtn View is better, they had all the ingredients I talkd about above — Beef Noodle Soup(same #11 — all derived from same New TK Noodle House menu), containing beef TENDONS, nice sauteed chili condiments, a bit far for me, but well worth the drive!)

They have a sister restaurant in Mountain View called Luu Noodle.(Exact same logo, menu and interior). Came here for their kway teow soup, plenty of noodles, not enough soup ._. and crispy ee mein with chicken and prawns… but it’s really cheap less than $ 10. Their imperial rolls are really AMAZING! Crispy on the outside and packed solid with shredded veges on the inside. It’s vegetarian so it’s super healthy with all the veges inside. I got their chai tow kway as well(carrot cake) — which is their daikon with eggs and peanuts on their menu. It’s not like the carrot cake you find in Singapore, you can’t find anything like that here in the bay area unless you DIY but this is sort of close? Just make sure you cut up the kway and eat some with lots of egg.

From the outside I see a bunch of numbers, which make no sense to me, until I get closer. They are the lottery winnings available today, in the millions, to lure customers who spend all their money on the lottery and not on food, as you will see from the prices. The place looks like it belongs in Disneyland, with pink benches, low ceiling lights and tan table tops. No booths, just a long cafeteria like hall, 1970s style, with all the table tops without plate settings. One teenage guy on the outside almost bumps into me, startled by my tanned legs in my white Birkenstock slide sandals, while wearing shorts. This is the first Chinese restaurant where the staff speak Vietnamese, and customers speak Spanish, and the Chinese speakers going to the real Asian restaurants in the food court a few doors down! The boss asks where we want to sit, and points right next to the windows. Nice seat, but there is a crying toddler nearby. I put up with the toddler as her noise and crying will drown out any slurping noises by me! The menu has over 80 different entrees, including soups, noodles, and the basic Chinese dishes, with color pictures for those anti social types who only grunt and point! The crew cut boss comes over in worn designer jeans and white shirt, and takes down our orders. He says ‘what type’, and looks bored, saying ‘what type’ a second time, looking at the far wall. It takes a while for me to figure out he means regular or large size. The large size is only 75cents more, so why not? The boss punches it into his hand held computer, which relays the order to the kitchen by table number. I’ve seen this only in hospitals, and at In and Out drive through lines. Hi tech comes to the noodle restaurants! Three dishes come in about 5 minutes. They gave us 1 plate and 1 bowl to eat off of –why not 2 bowls and 2 plates for 2 people? Everything is carried a long distance from the kitchen by hand, and nobody wants to make a second trip! Huge portions, larger than anywhere I’ve ever seen. This is the mother of all noodle houses! Each large dish can easily feed two for an entire meal. The #9 combination won ton noodle soup $ 7 has a mountain of noodles, with enough beef chicken, bean sprouts and a sprinkling of shrimp, large enough that they still have their tails on. The #23 combination crispy fried noodles $ 7.25, comes with beef chicken, and shrimp on top over Hong Kong style wok heated crispy fried noodles. You have to mix it with the sauce on the bottom, otherwise it’s too dry. The #27 yang chow fried rice comes with shrimp sausage egg peas carrots –love the Chinese sausage pieces –just like when I was a kid in Berkeley. Sign on wall says 25 cent charge for each take out container. Sign on cash register says 50 cent charge for credit card orders under $ 15. I didn’t use the bathroom, but would expect a sign saying 50 cents to use! When you are done, go to the cash register and pay for your meal. In our case they add 75 cents for the 3 take-out containers. Now if you were getting a large noodle dish to go, that might cost you a dollar for the 4 take-out containers to fit that feast –hey they have to make money somehow! 3 weeks later, we come back, and get one of the 4 tables right next to the window. This time our two dishes come with no plates or bowls! I guess they expect you to use your chopsticks and poke the dish, wrapping the noodles around the chopsticks, Italian style, and eat it straight off the serving plate! #22 combination chow mein, with beef, chicken, 4 shrimp, cabbage, broccoli, over semi crispy noodle –not the usual egg noodles. We also get the #72 yellow curry chicken over white rice with green onions and white onions. Decent dish, good sized portion, but I don’t see anything spicy about it, as listed in the menu. Wife finds the combination chow mein has no taste. She can’t tell the difference between the beef and chicken in flavor, and she’s white, so you know it’s really bland! My wife as a girl only had those Chinese food out of a can(think Chun King) when growing up. So her late mother would be right at home with this bland meal! We go to the cash register and get out of there for $ 17 before tip, and with belly bloated with a huge plateful of noodles! So if you are only interested in getting as much ‘Chinese’ food for as little as possible, you’ve found the right place. Lottery tickets right here for the money you’ve saved on the meal! As Clint Eastwood with the magnum gun would say, are you feeling lucky?! Not a place for a date, unless it is a breakup date!
