I love Korean BBQ, and this is my go to place. More often than not, I want a laid back BBQ dinner to unwind after a rough week, or a particularly rough session at the gym, with a beer or two, without worrying about dressing up. The quality of the meats here is surprisingly good at a very affordable price, and you can politely request to cook the meat yourself so that it’s to your own taste. I usually get rice, and pack the meat into the lettuce leaves, k-style. It is homely, very homely, and that’s what I love about it at this price point. Jang Mo Jip means ‘mother in law’s food’, and it does feel that way.

I love the food here and the service is great. It was hard to find the first time but after a few times it was easy. The food is great but a little pricey. The portions are kind of small. I would come again though.

I’ve been going to this place for years now with my close friends and family. If you ever have a big party, you can call in to let them know and they’ll do their best to save that table & accommodate you. It’s a great place for 2 as well as a place for large parties. Love all the special combos that they let you order. I usually get the #2 and order another side of meat if needed. Their seafood tofu soup always hits the spot and you can change it out for another tofu soup if you prefer to do so. But the main reason why I come back is their soybean paste. Omg. I can’t get enough of that stuff. Best customer service of a small shop and best food. Also, how awesome that it’s open til 2AM?! My friends get off work around 11PM sometimes and it’s nice to have this place to go to when we need a filling dinner. I highly recommend it.

A couple of my friends have been coming here on a regular basis and they loved this spot, so they suggested to have some late night dinner here the other night. The restaurant was a little hard to spot especially at night since it was attached to what seems like a warehouse type building. Also, if you need to use the restroom, you’d have to trek outside in the adjacent building. But food wise, this place was pretty damn good! We ordered the chicken gizzard, intestines, chicken wings, and rice cakes. Every dish was nicely flavored but my favorite is probably the gizzards. I love the spicy and crunchiness of it. The chicken wings was nicely cooked and drizzled in a nice portion of Gochujang based sauce. My overall impression of this place is that it has great food but perhaps needs a little update on the aesthetics of the establishment. All in all, I’d definitely come back!

This place is a hole in the wall restaurant that blends in with most the other Korean joints on El Camino Real. Since my friend and I have been boycotting 99 Chicken for the shitty service and rude owners, we decided to check out this other place that was open late and served chicken. We ended up not getting the chicken but a combo bbq platter instead. The combo included sirloin, sliced beef, pork belly, and vegetables. I did want to try the black pork belly, but that was part of another combo. Maybe next time! Positives: — All the meats were very flavorful and fresh tasting. I especially liked the sirloin — The service is on point. Waitstaff is friendly, something that you will not get at 99 Chicken haha — They grill your meats for you Negatives: — Not a wide variety of ban chan. They were missing some of my favorites, jap chae and rice paper — Portions. For the same price, you could get a lot more food at say, To Bang. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I am eager to come back to try the black pork belly and the chicken wings!

Delicious, crispy and just yummy Korean food. Chicken is great and they make it super quickly. they have odd hours, not opening til 5 pm and they close at 1. Overall, I enjoy the food. Place is not your 5-star restaurant style service and décor, you go here if you want some quick Family-style Korean cooking.

One of my friends likes this place, so headed over for dinner. Had never even heard about it or knew it was. A bit of a hole in the wall, nothing fancy inside with some old chairs and tables. They have a gamja tang which I never have had, and it was pretty delicious. Spicy broth with pork on the bone, perilla leaves, onions, and green onions. Tasty. They also have fried chicken, done how I remember it in Korea, chicken’s chopped up where you’ll find pieces of bone as you’re digging in. We had the yang nyum(sweet and spicy sauce) and the regular«Kentucky» fried chicken. The saucy one was a hit, the regular one was a bit bland, but thank goodness for the side of salt and pepper they provide. Banchans were decent, but they don’t come by to refill. Lots of people come to drink and eat BBQ off the table tops. As typical of any Korean restaurant, service is not too frequent here. I had to ask for my diet coke a couple times, but at least she came by to refill the waters. Feels like a good place to have a good variety of Korean food and drinks, but I wouldn’t frequent this place.

Have come here twice. Both visits were on the average side. Not sure ‘third time’s the charm’ will apply here, so those might be my final two visits. First time, we ordered up one of the combo meals with pork belly and octopus. Solid, but ended up being about $ 70 for two of us including a few beers. Whatever. Nothing was too memorable. Ton of food and should be able to feed at least three, perhaps four people. Combination seafood tofu soup came with it, but nothing great and the dipping sauces were less than impressive. On our second visit, we ordered Half Kentucky/Half Hot & Spicy fried chicken and was completely underwhelmed. Some of the pieces seemed like the neck and were all bone and nasty parts of meat. Flavor wasn’t popping and was altogether an unimpressive wreck. Loved the order of Galbi though. Fantastic char and flavor. Good sized portion as well, though a little overpriced. Service is always warm and welcoming here. Love supporting hole in the wall mom and pop shops like this, but I simply don’t have a connection to the food here. There is simply better value for Korean food in Santa Clara. I understand not in the middle of the night, but that’s half of the appeal of this place and so I’ll just learn to sleep like normal humans from now on.

I was lost the first time I came here. and then again the second time… Anyways, their fried chicken was crunchy and juicy except for the sauce. Try using the spicy cocktail sauce and it will definitely compliment the taste of their chicken… I’m coming back to try other dishes…

This is a hole in the wall Korean joint, but don’t let that deter you from checking it out. It’s a little hard to find, but it serves up some mean Korean food! I came here with four other hungry girls, and we ordered the combination 2 along with two orders of their soup(a kimchi one and a tofu one). Their combination entrée came with a lot of meat that was more than enough for all of us. We didn’t know the combination came with a soup too so ordering the other two was a little excessive and we could’ve done with just an additional one. The meats are pretty good! My favorite was their pork belly — not the most tender I’ve had but definitely satisfying and yummy nonetheless. I really want to come back here to try some of their Korean friend chicken!

First off, this place is the definition of a hole in the wall. My flatmates and I actually came across this place because of Unilocal(Thanks everyone!). Do NOT let the appearance of this place deter you! DONOT! I can recall, our first time here, we felt like we were at the wrong place, but once we were seated and greeted, everything changed. The folks here are very welcoming, and show genuine hospitality. I actually feel very comfortable here. I haven’t even started talking about the food yet! The Jabchae noodles are really good here! The sides are also very good, and they don’t hesitate to refill them at all! The beers are priced fairly. The quality of the food is absolutely superb. My flatmates and I have brought a lot of people here, and eveyone has enjoyed it. If you want some authentic korean food(that is conveniently open late at night too) JANGMOJIP is my go to!

Can’t believe this place is open until 2am and it took me so long to try it! It was kinda hard to find since the signs outside were all in Korean. It’s pretty small inside and doesn’t look very nice but once I saw all the older Koreans in there I knew the food was gonna be authentic and good! We ordered the Combo #1 which came with sirloin, sliced beef, and pork belly. It also came with tofu soup and lots of side dishes. All of the meat tasted delicious! The servers occasionally came by to cook the meat for us but we did most of the cooking. I was also craving Dduk Bo Gi after seeing it in pics at other restaurants we were Unilocaling so we ordered that too. It was good and pretty spicy but I was sad that there were no ramen noodles in it :( Overall I enjoyed the food here and will definitely come back for some late night Korean food!

Wow, this spot is a little hidden gem. I wouldn’t have known to come here if it wasn’t for a friend’s friend. Her friend had brought her here before. It’s inside a building right next to a pet hospital. The interior is very simple, no frills, with a TV playing Korean shows. I thought the food prices were a little steep at first, but there was a good amount of food and it was really good. We got two orders of kimchi fried rice + Korean fried chicken + fried chicken with their signature sweet and spicy sauce + galbi(Korean short ribs). We got our order to go and when we opened the food up, they gave us banchan(small Korean side dishes!) with two containers of pickled daikon. The food was delicious and the place is open late, so if you’re in the Korean district of Santa Clara for a night out on the town drinking, you can stop here for some drunk munchies afterwards haha.

Came by after seeing pictures of the Spicy Chicken Potato Soup. Wish they added more noodles and potatoes inside, but aside from that! It was delicious! I think the reasoning behind the lack of noodles and potatoes was the OVERLOAAAAD of chicken. They were not selfish on the chicken ATALL, and the chicken was nice and tender. The meat on fell right off the bone! I’m not good at eating meat off the bone, but they made it easy for me! Thank you Jang Mo Jip!!! This place gives a nice, homey feeling, and I’m glad that it stays open till 2 a.m. It’s located in random plaza, and you have to enter from the inconspicuous backdoor.

My friends and I came here on a late Friday night. They seated us quickly. Service was a bit slow because they didn’t have very many people working, but they were all very nice. The side dishes were delicious and plentiful. They’re happen to refill them if you ask. The meat is very good and cheap for the price, compared to other places around this area. There isn’t much fat on it. Only downside is that every 15 – 20 minutes or so, the lights dim for a few seconds, then it goes back to normal. It gets a little annoying, but not too bad. The stove is also on a burner on the side. This place is also a little hard to look for because the sign is in Korean. I would come back here! A lot of food for a pretty cheap price in NorCal. Not all you can eat, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Love the gamja tang(pork bone soup), really complex pork tomato broth with greens and potato. Hits the spot after a night of drinking. Fried chicken is delicious as well, I like the plain one, eaten with the pickled radish. Look for the Bruce Lee hair salon sign lol.

Wtfuuzzzz … Tobang closed early so I decided to come back here and service was so terrible ;(( I felt like the person just threw the food on the grill sloppy and walked away. The side dishes wasn’t even filled all the way and they don’t even bother to ask if you want more. I had to flag them down a few times but every time I felt like I was bothering the crap out of them . ;(overpriced and so not worth it. I’m sorry to cheat on you, tobang for some late night flop…

Open late, mom and pop shop, great banchans. Everything I want for about $ 50(including tip!) Got a combo #1 and was pleasantly surprised at how full I got. Service was good, despite the place filling up by the time we left. Small lot, takes card(even AmEx), again, open late!

Well I’m pretty stoked to find another korean joint that’s open until 2am and sells not only food, but soju/beer! In case VIP down the road is packed, you can come here for some sweet & spicy hot wings and some soju bombs. This place is pretty Korean. I mean I lived here my whole life and never knew it was here because it’s tucked away in the shadows and their sign is written in Koran so I never would have guessed what was there. We ordered the wings, which came out piping hot and crispy. Points for that. However, they were just drowing in that sweet/spicy sauce. It was too much for my liking. I mean you could literally take straw and drinking the stuff off the plate. We also some kind of noodles– clear noodles with beef and vegetables. They were fairly bland. I mixed sriracha in with mine. The beef was thin and dry. I liked the vegetables though. Speaking of vegetables. I really wanted a side dish of vegetables– spicy green beans, or something. But the menu had nothing. I asked the waitress and she said«no vegetables.» Ummm I’m sorry. I see plenty of dishes on here with vegetables in them, can’t you just make a side dish of vegetables? I could care less what kind. Nope. So, seems like a good place for late night drunchies and alc. Hopefully I’ll make my way back here one night.
