Bernal Bagel & Donut

Smh people need to leave the old lady alone! She is actually pretty nice as long as you come in with a kind, undemanding demeanor.
Bernal’s has a standard range of donuts and sandwiches, I ordered C1(croissant sandwich with bacon, egg and cheese) and a wild berry smoothie for 7.50. I can’t stress how much I appreciate this place, prices are reasonable and drinks don’t cost as bad as starbucks, plus their menu provides tons of options (crab bagel?! what?!), just wish they had smoked salmon.
Definitely try this place out for a quick breakfast fix.

Absolutely disgusting. With dirt just caked on the floor we still decided to give this place a chance thinking maybe they keep he back cleaner. After waiting for 20 minutes with only two people in line ahead of us we were finally able to order our donuts. The old woman at the register did not even greet us, but rang us up and then told us that we could not pay with our card because it was less than $ 5. There were no signs anywhere except for one hand written sign on the register that said $ 5.00 and nothing else. A half hour of our lives wasted in this dingy dump and we didn’t even get donuts. NEVER GOING BACK!!!

This place is Ok, however, I stopped going because when I go in here I get such Rude Behavior From the OLD Lady! I say Good Morning and I’m Overly Outside my Character to be Extra Nice, and She just FROWN her U&*y Face! #youjustmademeloosemyappitite #barff

This Place Do NOT DESERVE any STARS, but I give 2 Star’s because the Young Girl working behind her is quiet and always doing MOST/​ALL of the Work!

Everything is extra… if I am ordering a bagel I want cream cheese. dur! The workers had to be the most unhappiest, unfriendliest people I have encountered. Not a big selection of bagels for early am. The bagel sandwich and a water was $ 6.50…good sandwich but I can go elsewhere for a little cheaper sandwich and hopefully better service!

The food is good and prices are low. Just a croissant warmed up is to die for. They get a low rating for their customer service. The lady who runs the cashier is incredibly rude even though my family and I are regulars.

I have been coming here for over 10 years and it has been a while since moving out of the area. I used to love this place and was entirely disheartened when the owner rushed us to order our sandwiches. She literally spit out“concentrate and order, I don’t want to wait!” I was speechless and decided not to order food, because she made such a huge issue out of it. Way to act on Christmas! I’ve never had someone act so rude, especially after being a loyal customer for so long. :(

Sandwiches are decent and fairly fresh. prices are great! The lady (who I assume is the owner) wasn’t a jerk or anything but she’s very short with people and seems to give off the «hurry up and buy» vibe. She would’ve gotten a tip had she been more inviting.

Message to Business:
If get a customer’s order wrong. Please try to be a bit nicer about it. Instead of blaming the customer and slamming their corrected order on the counter when you give it to them.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. It’s cheaper than most places and the food is great. I get my bagels toasted with cream cheese and they taste out of this world~!! I don’t eat much donuts but I like how the donuts here are not so much as airy but more on the dense side. The sandwiches are also bomb and they are cheaaap.
Service wise, if it’s your first time here you might get the impression that the workers are a bit dry and cold BUT they are not. I’m pretty sure it’s a family business and for as long as I remember it’s been the same lady, girl and guy. Overall, I love this tiny obscure bagels&donuts store.

Pretty good egg bagels here. I would come back. It’s not that expensive either!
I like egg bagels (how yellow they are)! Not a lot of places here do egg bagels so whenever I find one, I usually go for it. The bagel was fluffy and the crust was a bit toasted which is what I want.
There is a minimum $ 5 for credit card purchases.

The bagels were tasty, the cream cheese was ok, but the place was really old and dirty. This detracted from the experience and made me want my bagel to go. I did notice that she made my bagel on top of a stack of clean wax paper, so that made my inner germaphobe feel better. The coffee was out and we got the guilty look because we wanted some, so we settled on the pre-​made mochas from the machine. I don’t think I will return here… nothing to write home about.

Best Croissants Ever! And they are huge! Their blueberry donut is excellent. Have to bring cash or make a minimum of 5 dollars to use your card.

Finally tried this place on my lunch break and it was great! I tried the 5A– bagel w/​turkey and a kona mocha frappé. First off, the small frappé is big enough to be a meal in itself, and is such a good price. As for the bagel sandwich, it was the perfect size for me. The bagels are a little on the smaller side but big enough to be filling. They include mayo, sprouts, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and onion, and have extras like avocado and bacon for 50¢. My sandwich was $ 4.50, also a steal. It was toasted to perfection, with a subtle crispness to the outside and a solid «toothiness» to where I’m not fighting the bagel to take a bite of it. They don’t tax either. You can have a croissant or bread if you don’t want the bagel sandwich, or just a bagel with their choices of spreads. The flavor choices are abundant enough to please everyone I think. I still haven’t tried the donuts yet, but they did look inviting! I’ll definitely be back.

I frequently come here for breakfast, as I drive through Santa Clara often.
Pros: I like the breakfast sandwiches, the avocados are real/​fresh, and the bagels are good.
Cons: The donuts are sub-​par, I wouldn’t recommend them.
It’s a good diner for a quick breakfast.

Very nice and friendly! I asked for egg and cheese on sesame bagel and it was so fresh and yum! The prices are inexpensive; they have all sort of things for a delicious breakfast here. From fresh fruits to different donuts, a variety of fresh bagels and spreads, delis and juices. Indoor and outdoor seating areas, and the most important their attitude. God bless this business!

I am in love with this place! We live down the street and love walking over to this place. The sandwiches are what we compare every other place to.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars (which I wanted to, with how much I love this place!) is because the owner can come across cold. I think it just comes down to cultural differences. Both her and her daughter are both quite and it can feel as if they don’t care. However, I come with my dog, and he has been somewhat of a conversation piece. So I have also seen the really sweet side of her. Like everyone, she must be human, go figure. We all have good days and bad days, even within customer service. In fact, one day we went in later in the day, closer to close and asked for 4 donut holes, but because they were close to close, she gave us 10. It was a pleasant surprise. LOL
My boyfriend have become regulars at this place going at least once, often twice a week. I have no complaints. As for the coffee… I’ve only had an iced mocha, which is pretty hard to mess up. Although, if you know me, you know my boyfriend can be a snob in regards to coffee, so it doesn’t meet his standard. If you find Starbucks to be «OK» or better, than maybe it would be fine for you too. I had no issue and enjoyed my mocha too.
We have come in towards the end of their work day, and asked for 4 donut holes, but because they were close to close, she gave us 10. It was a pleasant surprise. LOL
I will be a long time customer either until I move from the area, or things change drastically.

I decided to try the bacon and egg croissant sammich and it was freakin BOMB! They make it so that every bite that you take has yummy gooey cheese! Mmm! N their bread is so flakey, it’s soooooo gooood!
My girl ordered a nasty lookin blueberry bagel. I say nasty cuz I don’t like bagels. But she ate the whole thing so I guess it was good. for her.
Anyways.
I suggest you DON’T get coffee here.
Unless you like it to not taste like coffee then by all means go right ahead.
My gf ordered a white mocha which she said had no coffee taste n only tasted like milk. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee. I needed a little pick me up to get me thru the day. But when I tried it.NOPE. It did not taste like coffee whatsoever! You would think since I ordered a Vietnamese coffee that it would have a kick to it, but NOPE! It tasted like watered down coffee. Like one of those coffees you would get for free at an auto shop while you wait for your car. Even those would probably be stronger than the coffee we ordered from here.
Their hours are from 6am-​3pm every day. N they are located right across the street from the hospital right by L&L.
