Its tough to find a coffee café that will make frozen mochas. I adore theirs. My issue is attitude. Today the young lady attending the cash register couldn’t wipe the scowl off her face. I hated to give her my order let alone my money. We stopped in on a Sunday and it was packed with college students using entire tables to spread out with computers and notebooks, etc. I had the nerve to ask if one could spare the available table and seating and was told, «no.» Wow. Really? I almost got into a cat fight. The spinach salad was dry and boring. Hub’s roast beef sandwich was«meh.» Peanut butter bar was sugary but without flavor. I think we’ll keep hunting for a more welcoming place that is happy to take our cash.

In a short summary: The Daily Grind is everything you look for in a coffee shop. The pastries are made fresh daily and the sweet smell hits you as you walk in the door. Food: If you are looking to indulge into something sweet get the Zuchini Carrot Muffin. YES! Zuchini Carrot! At first I was skeptical but it is absolutely delicious. If you want something a little more hardy try the breakfast burrito. I’ve had breakfast burritos from all over San Diego, Boston and Los Angeles. However, none can compare to the price and flavor of the Daily Grind Burrito. Finally the service is great. After going a few times the employees recognized me and even knew my order. When I was enjoying my meal they took time to ask how my food was and offered any additional service. Since it has been in business over 20 years, to me, it has become a Santa Barbara staple in a city where most restaurants can’t last 10 years.

Driven by numerous times and finally came in. I ordered a large nonfat latte and a spinach and egg burrito without the potatoes but with extra salsa. One of my pet peeves: People waiting on you have no regard for your money. Not only did I not see what she rung me up for until AFTER I paid and never saw the cost of my latte. but she didn’t bother to tell me a large latte had three shots of coffee and didn’t bother to tell me that the salsa costs 50 cents extra. Then, I pick up my burrito and there is no extra salsa in the bag. Not cool. My bill was over $ 12 bucks for a latte and spinach & egg burrito — I won’t be back since I expect a much better experience for these prices at a walk up counter.

I live two blocks from Daily Grind and I eat it at least every two weeks, sometimes every week. The breakfast burritos are really good, I like the chorizo burrito or sometimes if I don’t feel like getting meat, I’ll sub avocado for the meat which is really good. The salsa isn’t like one I’ve ever had and has an interesting flavor but I like it. I’ve had the tuna melt, tuna sandwich, and the 2001 turkey sandwich and they are all great. The sandwiches come with a side of tortilla chips. I’ve had the open faced lox bagel sandwich which was good but very messy(most open faced sandwiches are). They have delicious coffee drinks and a lot of different smoothies. Great bagels. I haven’t tried any pastries but I have heard good things. It is always very busy so sometimes I’ll just order over the phone for pickup but when I don’t do that, the line always moves very quickly. There are lots of small tables inside and outside. Great environment and food/drinks.

I attended today & was very upset to have ordered my food & there was no seating, however there was a bunch of people sitting at the tables using the internet with no food or drinks bought. This should be proper monitored. I then went outside in the rain to eat my food, when the plastic tray slid off the table & on to the floor:(Horrible experience… I almost asked for a refund but when I saw the line & the time left to get back to work, I just left. Wont return after this… unless by chance the manager replies with an apology, then I would consider giving them another chance.

This place is great for sitting down and getting work done/studying on a Sunday morning(or any morning for that matter!) It is mostly busy and the music selection isn’t always the best, but the coffee and food are what’s important. There’s plenty of chairs/tables inside and outside and outlets as well. The coffee is very well made and the food is delicious, would recommend to anyone!

What I love about this place is that it’s very unassuming. People are often thrown off by coffee shops that look the way this one does. It can give off the appearance of a deli or a fancier take out restaurant since its tables and chairs are not what you might think they would be. The chairs aren’t the most comfortable, if I’m being real honest, but overall, I liked my experience there. They have a lot of different drinks outside of coffee and tea, including smoothies! I happen to be on a really large smoothie kick at the moment, so it(the Fiesta Freeze, to be exact) happened to be exactly what I was looking for. This particular Daily Grind is fairly large and has outdoor seating, which is always a plus in my book. It also has outlets, which has become a pretty valuable commodity for those of us who bring laptops. My friend has taken a particular liking the Daily Grind, so I’m fairly sure I’ll be back and will try more of their smoothies(and maybe get some work done)!

I love the selections of coffees that they offer. This place used to be cash only, so I didn’t come in as often even though there was an ATM inside(there is still an ATM). Now, they accept cash, debit and credit cards. I have been here many many times and most of the time I order the breakfast burritos and of course I would order coffee. For my taste I love it more than Starbucks. They have a Spinach and Feta Burrito, a Bacon Burrito and a Chorizo Burrito(they include potatoes and egg) and it comes with a side of red salsa. I really love the burritos, but today I decided to order The Lox bagel. You can order it on any type of bagel that they carry and it comes with cream cheese, smoked salmon and its garnished with tomatoes, onions slices of avocado, and green capers(the capers come on the side). I really liked The Lox bagel, but since I am always here I mind as well try other food in their menu. This place on De La Vina and Mission Street is the original and we’ll known by many locals. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I understand that everyone is human and there are times that they are not as friendly, but overall it is a good atmosphere.

If you require options this is a must for you! Muffins, scones, croissants, smoothies, juices, teas, a coffee smörgåsbord. We snagged a well shaded spot on the patio(until some jerk moved the umbrella) and enjoyed an appropriately dark cup o joe with an olallieberry with cream cheese muffin and spinach feta croissant. Decent parking available in the adjacent lot.

What a wonderful place. It is busy busy busy, but the lines move rapidly, with the people behind the counter moving even more rapidly. I don’t know about the coffee, as I only came in for a bagel and a bran muffin. They were both fabulous thank you very much, prepared promptly, and oh so fresh. Judging by the line of people and the happy smiles I would wager that the coffee is pretty good too. Thank You Santa Barbara

I don’t usually take time to leave reviews, but when I have a strange experience at a restaurant I have to say something. I was leaving my job around 7pm and was craving a cup of coffee(because I’m addicted, let’s be real) so I decided to use Unilocal and find out what was the closest place to me. I just moved to SB a few months ago so I’m not sure of what places are good and where everything is. The patio was filled with people but inside it was empty, and when I walked in there was a girl behind the counter doing something as well as a man. Neither one greeted me. The lady didn’t fully acknowledge me until I said hi to her. All I did was order a small vanilla latte, but the workers seemed to be annoyed at my presence. Maybe they were already preparing to close(even though they still had 45 minutes) and I bothered them? I don’t know. The latte was good, but if you’re not nice and personable, I won’t be returning and giving you business.

Canned black olives is a travesty on Greek salad… Who does that??? I think that was also butter lettuce and some beers on there too— and that dressing wasn’t really greeky either— Also had a skimpy little sand which that was bland and tasteless– really bummed, but at least the kids at the soup, so they get a star for that. I’m sure the coffee is good, but don’t eat here.

Tried this place two times before reviewing. Review is for service and quality of drinks & food. Had veggie sandwich yesterday which lists avocado as primary ingredient but only has avocado spread. Bread was stale and couldn’t hold the sandwich. Needs better bread options(toasted would be great!) and to either state avocado spread or add avocado to sandwich. Only ate a quarter of it, waste of 8 bucks. Had iced chai latte, nothing remarkable. However, yesterday service was great! Today service was indifferent almost dismissive but different towards«regulars». Only ordered a latte so no major comments. Would rate two stars but great space and yesterday I saw that they allow dogs(big dogs) inside so that was pretty cool. More inclined to bring coffee and lunch from home than to stop here.

I tried ordering a triple shot Americano by asking first how many shots were in their smallest sized Americano. Cashier had no idea what an Americano was, thought it was a fancy word for«black coffee» and defensively argued there was no espresso in this«Americano» I was ordering… so awkward. Held up the line for a solid 5 min, and I ended up having to holla across to ask the barista manning the espresso machine — who rolled his eyes and gave me attitude like it was a question I wasn’t supposed to be asking… I get there’s a standard, but every coffee shop has a different baseline for how many shots in different sizes so I felt obligated to ask… Anyway, ended up I paying almost $ 5 for the worst small triple Americano I have ever consumed(technically not consumed because I didn’t get past a handful of sips before throwing it out). Such an uncomfortable experience. Never again.

A typical Santa Barbara place that actually makes a damn good breakfast burrito! Who would have thunk it? This place has it all and they do it right. We love there smoothies and breakfast burritos but they have a lot more. Muffins, juices, coffee etc. The only thing they lack is enough parking for how popular they are.(Can’t down grade them for that Tho.) Great breakfast spot but beware, guests tend to stay a long ass time talking about their great Santa Barbara lives… lol.

There is a reason it’s called DAILY Grind. You have to go there Daily. Why? It’s an addiction! The vanilla lattes are the bomb! Don’t get me started on the bacon burritos! I have them add avocado and it just brings it all together. The place is funky and fun. I walk in and they know me! Many times my triple vanilla decaf is waiting for me! I think they planted a sensor in my car and he just knows when I am approaching. Oh did I mention the muffins? They are all made there and they are fricken amazing. I do the cranberry nut but they really all are great! I can go on and on but I am trying to hop in the shower so I can get on down there before the line is too long!
