Everything is great, and they treat regulars well!

Its a pretty good place to have mexican food. Its not the best but I recommend it. I only give it one star cause its been closed for about 2 or 3 months and they change the reason for why its closed every once in a while.

Yummy and fresh food for great value. Dinner for 2 in 20 bucks — Value for money. A must go to place to eat ! I was on 10 day road trip from SF to San Dieago, with 2 day stay in santa barbara– Me and my boyfriend loved this place, it was our pick to get yummy mexican food 2 days in row. Tip: Try their fish tacos, Fish was well done(grilled) — they made the Healthy choce felt Yummy :)

Really solid Mexican food! They’re friendly in here and clean. I had a delicious veggie burrito and didn’t feel at all sick afterwards. Appreciated the mix of veggies and no cilantro :) The chips weren’t warm and were a bit crispy, but I LOVED their mild salsa — I could eat a ton of this, but I don’t even love salsa! Overall an A+++ Mexican experience.

Love love LOVE the shrimp super burrito(rice, beans, cheese, shrimp, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream); but it’s a bit pricey, even by Santa Barbara standards. Tips: *Make sure to load up at the salsa bar(the green/avocado creamy salsa is amazeballs)! *Parking on the street may be a bit easier as Los Gallos shares its(cramped) lot with the Daily Grind. *Stop by the Daily Grind just around the corner for an after-meal coffee. *Or stop by McConnell’s Ice Cream across the street for a sweet treat.

I absolutely love this place. I have never written a review on Unilocal before until now just because I want to show my support. It is a hidden gem. The salsas are delicious and the staff is amazing. Every time I go in, I am more and more impressed by the friendly welcome and amazing service. Not expensive, we live in Santa Barbara, it is more than fair. Even when my family comes to visit they request this place. I love the enchiladas, rajas, burritos, quesadillas, rice, black beans, and guac! Keep up the food and friendly attitude, Los Gallos! Thanks!

Stumbled upon this humble Mexican restaurant while visiting Santa Barbara and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was extremely friendly, FC Barcelona soccer was playing on the TV, and my veggie tacos were pretty good. Even better than the tacos(filled with grilled squash, onions, and tomatoes) was the Spanish rice and black beans. The salsas are great too! Next time driving up or down the 101, make Los Gallos a pit stop.

Absolutely DELICIOUS! It’s a bit pricey which is why I rated it a 4, but the food is AMAZING! I live in Los Angeles where the mexican food is mediocre at best, so to casually find this place on a weekend stroll was a blessing. The carne asada is juicy and seasoned to perfection, and the salsa bar has a variety of tastey sauces to choose from. While I live in Los Angeles, the next time I find myself in Santa Barbara I will be sure to visit this place. YUMmy! :)

picked up some food to go on a lazy Sunday. I had never eaten here but my 2 friends had and sent me here making sure I got extra«avo/guac sauce». Chicken enchiladas platter and 2 super burritos with chicken. Everyone was super happy and satisfied with their meal and I am sure glad a got PLENTY of the spicy, creamy avocado sauce from the salsas bar. It was AWESOME! Add some pacificos, and cue the rest of awesome lazy Sunday, but with a full tummy.

Pretty good, but too pricey for my taste. I guess I am too used to buying amazing Mexican food at taco trucks in LA. The other negative was that it took FOREVER to get my food to go. About 20 mins, and there was no one else in line. Guy in the back was sleeping or something. Great salsa bar.

I finally tried this place for breakfast. It was tasty. The eggs in the omlete are made from real eggs, not eggish mix. Fresh and huge portions, plan to share.

I only come here for one thing, but I love it and nothing else satisfies me the same way… Carne Asada Super Grande Wet Burrito, with everything in it, served with a generous layer of red sauce and melted cheese on top(9.99 + 1.00 to make it wet with red or green sauce). This thing is HUGE! It last me two meals and is always good the next day as well. I don’t go anywhere else for burritos in SB, except Freebirds from time to time, but honestly that’s more for nostalgia rather than taste. Plus you get free chips, even when it’s a take-out order(unlike my other fave Mex restaurant, Los Arroyos)! Also, I really like that they offer grilled jalepenos as part of their salsa bar, yum! Their salsas in general are eh, so so, and I agree it’s lame that they limit 2 tiny little containers per order.

Great portions of food at a great price! I love the enchiladas, tacos al pastor, and crispy chicken tacos. They have a great salsa bar too.

Um, yes please! Santa Barbara knows how to do authentic Mexican food and Los Gallos is no exception! The food here is delicious! I had a special, corn tortillas topped with carne asada, peppers, mushrooms, onions and cheese. The tortillas were definitely homemade, thick, soft and wonderful! The meat was tender and juicy. I had a field day at the salsa bar with the great assortment of homemade salsas. They also served my meal with fresh chips and chunky salsa! The service was incredible! I love this shop and highly recommend it!

Great food — asinine salsa policy… The food is great, but my girlfriend and I were dismayed at the salsa policy… they claim«2 salsas per order» — so the two of us were limited to only two salsa for our 2 dinners. Their salsa bar is great, and we usually like to try a couple(maybe 3) salsas per dinner. The guy at the register said: «well, if you order together, it’s only 2 salsas, if you order separately, you get two each.» Really? Use your brain.

The rajas were awesome. They had an excellent smoky flavor. It was one of those dishes that make you ask«How did they get that awesome flavor?». The alambres were awesome, both chicken and steak. There were very moist and flavorful. The tamales were good(not quite awesome). The service is quick. The location is a bit out-of-the-way, but I take that as a good thing, because parking is always easy and there’s never a line when ordering. There is a great variety of salsas, though they’re all at least a bit spicy. That’s a bummer for my fiancée, though very good for me, especially since I get to have hers. We’ve been working our way through all the Mexican restaurants in Santa Barbara, and Los Gallos is one of our two favorites.

Yikes. I’m going to have to be honest here — Taco Bell is like Spago compared to this place. I wanted so bad to like Los Gallos — it’s only blocks from my house. The first time I went I got the chile verde burrito, which was horrible. I agree wholeheartedly with Laura’s review of the pork, it’s cubed, greasy and terrible. Not to mention it had no taste what so ever. I went for the second time tonight, giving them the benefit of the doubt by thinking that perhaps, the chile verde burrito was something they hadn’t quite gotten right yet. No way. I got the trip tip burrito. Simple. Beans, rice and tri-tip. However, again, the meat was completely bland. I think Angie B. may have been onto somthing — this place may be ok if you just stick to the rice and beans, because the meat is totally tasteless. I’m not kidding when I say that taco bell has more flavor, they do. The only thing I like about their food is the avocado salsa, which isn’t half-bad. Otherwise forget it. Seriously.
