Not only is the food at this place great, but each and every interaction I’ve had with the staff has been such a joy. They are truly kind, laid back people that want their customers to feel cared for. It’s consistently great service with a smile. If I wasn’t already hooked on their kale salad, I’d be coming back to South Coast to support their wonderful employees. Thank you!

Since when is it the customers fault when the person taking your order misheard you and you end up with a Greek salad instead of a garden salad? And when I informed them of their mistake they said they would NOT remake me another salad free of charge because they didn’t want to waste food. I’m not one to complain but I have NEVER been told that in my life. I even said they could take the tuna off the top of the wrong salad and use it on the new one! I never ended up eating the salad, so it was a waste of time, food, and they ended up losing a customer.

They’re salads and sandwiches are amazing. Dark Sky’s is amazing because the roast beef and horseradish are just put together so well. I would say just don’t get the BLT because it is not worth the only. They’re salads are great especially the Asian green salad. This place is great even though it is slightly pricey.

Unilocal scores again! I was in Santa Barbara and had a recommendation for a place that hadn’t opened yet but the family was super hungry, we opened Unilocal and decided to go here. Everything we ordered here was great and my Chipotle Chicken Club was humongous. I really wish we had one of these in my town. If I’m back in Santa Barbara, I’m making a special trip here.

Nice staff nice atmosphere. However, for a deli my pastrami sandwich was kinda skimpy. The star of the sandwich was overshadowed by the bread and the slaw. Still tasty enough to eat though. Too much competition in this town to skimp.

Got their Chipotle chicken club I believe. Pretty damn good and very filling. Amazing vanilla cream soda. Guys working were extremely nice and welcoming. But part was the playlist! Some Killers, White Stripes, Two Door Cinema Club, Fleetwood Mac, etc. Just my style. Great spot

I love SCD overall the food is beyond excellent, however my last two visits at this location have been not so good. The coffee I got was full of grounds on my prior visit and this morning, after calling my order in for pickup at 9:15 I arrived at 9:35 and still had to wait 10 minutes to get my salad, near making me late for work. I think the mngmnt is lacking at this location.

Great tasting food and large portions. They always seem to be busy, but maintain a speedy cooking time. The BLTA is normally my go to sandwich but I’ve heard the mmm balls is a good one too(meatball sandwich). I would recommend SCD for any of your lunching needs.

I ordered Mark’s Panini based upon the recommendations from the reviews and while I thought it was a nicely composed sandwich it still needed a kick. However the portion is large — you will not be hungry for a long time. Service was friendly.

I have been here four times in the past two weeks, so I guess you can say I am a bit obsessed. I only had the pleasure of trying their breakfast menus and the toasted sammies. My personal favorite is the tri tip and salsa sandwich. I like it so much that I get it for breakfast too. The only difference between the breakfast and lunch trip tip salsa sandwich is that the breakfast one comes with eggs and a little less tri tip. You can get the salsa on the side if you do not want to make too much of a mess when you are biting into your sandwich. They do have other items such as their interesting«healthier» Stubborn soda, cold sammies, salad, etc. The portion is large for a $ 8.95 sandwich. They do not skimp out on the meat at all, so you know it is worth your money. I usually get the toasted sandwiches in the Italian roll and it is always crunchy. They are also usually fast in making the sandwiches and they offer call-ins and online order so you don’t have to wait in person. Sometimes I come in a bit later to pick up my sandwich than I would want but my sandwich is not cold nor soggy. Customer service can vary depending when you go in and who you get. Sometimes they sigh when you ask for a bag for your take-out order. Sometimes they would charge you for your online order and not hand you your sandwich and make you wait ten minutes before you build up the courage and anger to ask them where your sandwich is. But most of the time, you get your sandwich fast and without a hassle. tldr; large portions, cheap for the area, and fresh sandwiches

I went to this place on the suggestion of some of the nurses I was working with. Since I had eaten habit 2 days in a row I thought that it would be okay to switch it up. The line was really long but it moved fast. I ordered the rbc panini roastbeef, sundried tomato may, carmalized onion and cambozola cheese it was delicious!

My only regret is that I discovered this place only a few days before leaving Santa Barbara. I sometimes get tired of eating sandwiches but my-oh-my! I had Torta de Gringo and The Robert Emmet Sandwiches and both left me craving for more! Friendly staff and the place has a really nice, laid back vibe. I know I’ll be back!

If you want the BEST sandwich or Salad EVER come to South Coast Deli on Carrillo! I have gone to the other locations-and this one is by far the best one. Our favorite sandwich is the Chicken Chipotle Club(Chicken, turkey, bacon with jack cheese) and if you are courageous, add jalapeños to it! This three way sandwich is enough to share with a friend-or if you are super hungry, go for the thing all for yourself! If salads are your thing, my favorite one is the Asian greens Salad(Napa and green cabbage, bok choy, onion, cilantro, black sesame seeds, crispy wontons, and sweet and spicy sesame dressing). Sometimes the dressing is spicier than other times, but it never bothers me. I love it.

Sammie slammie whammie … This is good food! Sandwiches are incredible with fresh ingredients and great bread. Try the daily specials. I had the viet nom nom and it was very good. Beverages include stubborn sodas and green star coffee. This place is a hit. Chalkboard wall so you can get your art on. Comfy seating and small patio for the nice breeze. Salads and all items are legit craft foodie fun. Pick a bread, pick your spread or go with a local favorite from the menu. Sure to impress.

Let’s be honest with ourselves. Salads suck. I mean who would want to pay 10 dolllars for a freaking salad. It’s pointless, and when I’m faced with having to pay for a salad I go through an existential crisis and want to shoot myself. South coast deli relaxes these philosophical issues. Their salads are to die for. Here are some pros: one salad is approximately the size of a small home. Dressing can be put on the side. They put great things inside the salads. All produce is local and organic, how do I know? Not because I ask, but because I looked through their trash. And to my surprise all cardboard boxes for produce were from local farms! Cons: N/A Overall it’s a great place and the employees are super friendly. I think the manager has a mustache, so that’s cool too. 10⁄10 go there for the salads, stay for the love

South Coast Deli is my top choice sandwich shop in Santa Barbara. It’s pretty good if you like shredded lettuce, arugula, avocado, sprouts, bacon, and chicken breast. It’s not a melt in your mouth, gooey cheese kind of sandwich shop. I prefer to order a salad because you get far more veggies and meat than the sandwiches, which are a lot of bread. I can never finish the whole salad so it’s two meals in one. The Asian Greens with Chicken is my favorite with Napa cabbage, green cabbage, bok choy, chicken breast, shredded carrots, green onions, cilantro, black sesame seeds, and crispy won tons in a sweet & spicy sesame dressing. Buffalo Blue is also tasty but a little salty because of the wing sauce covering the chicken. The brownies are pretty good — large, thick, and chewy with lots of walnuts on top. They can be a little hit or miss. The Goleta location makes them on a daily basis in the am. The employees are welcoming and love to take orders over the phone. If you order over the phone your receipt will say, «PHONE ! !» across the top. Delivery is now available as well.
