Pickles & Swiss

My only problem with this place is that they do not have one near me!
Girlfriend and I stopped at State Street and decided to do some exploring. This place is just off of State Street and one of those small walkways. We just randomly found this Hidden Gem, and glad we did. Everything is fresh and made-​to-​order. And on top of that, was delicious. Owner was very friendly. You can tell he took a personal interest in the restaurant, this was not just a money maker for him. Brought our food out and chatted with us for a bit, and checked on all the other customers as well. We had two Panini’s is that I’m still thinking about it to this day. Will definitely be back.
To be honest, if you are reading this, I think Redondo Beach or Hermosa Beach would be perfect for you!

This place is simply fantastic! Went there with one of best friend on his recommendation and was blown away by Mark (the owner) his friendly staff, and the quality of food. I had my eye on a few of the menu items already but asked what he would pick. Without hesitation he told me to get the grilled cheese with fresh home made tomato bisque. His rec was right on point as it was by far one of the best grilled cheese and tomato soup combos that I have ever had… happy camper!

Chicken parm was so bomb, new favorite spot. Great customer service too. 100% chance of coming back again, and will recommend to friends

Very nice people and good sandwiches! I tried only teo times but I am pretty sure this place is great. Crispy Chicken West is my favorite!

While coming into town riding the Amtrak train, my friend and I were having hunger pains and needed to eat as soon as we got off the train. We were in the mood for sandwiches so I started my search on Unilocal.
I stumbled upon Pickles and Swiss. High ratings and I love coming into small businesses that have a small town feel/​charm.
My friend and I ordered the special of the day: ciabatta roll with chicken, pesto sauce, tomatoes and lettuce. It was heaven!
The guys that work there are very nice and all the sandwiches are made to order! You can tell a lot of love went into making the sandwiches. After taking a couple bites, he even asked how they were, and we were floored by the amazing flavor!
A definite must if I come back to SB again!

If I could give 6 out of 5 stars I would! There is so much amazing stuff to say. Let’s start with the food. so fresh and never frozen. the service… the guys here are beyond helpful and nice. Met who I think is the owner as he was leaving… stopped to check to be sure we were enjoying our food… which, obvi, we were! If you’re in santa barbara and need a sammie… most def stop in here.

Pickles and Swiss is a phenomenal place to stop in and eat in downtown Santa Barbara. The food is excellently matched with very kind customer service from all employees. The owner of Pickles and Swiss is super friendly and makes you feel welcome at his place. I recommend stopping by, saying hey, and enjoying a nice gourmet sandwich made by great people!

What acute little sandwich shop. Quick efficient and very tasty. Lots of cute ideas but also they let you create your own. I will definitely be back.

This food was amazing! The service was polite and fast. The Dude at the register was funny and helpful with selections. Seriously, I got the crispy chicken west, one of the best sandwiches I’ve had ever. My wife got the BCT added avocado. She would reommend it to anyone. I also had the Tomato Bisque Soup. Very tasty and fresh. Excellent all around!

Went here after doing some research for celiac friendly eateries! This place didn’t let us down. They had a dedicated kitchen for GF foods and it was beyond delicious. The GD sandwich bread was soft and airy. The entire family was happy with what they ordered. Everything we tasted was super yummy including the pickles, grilled cheese, and roasted tomato soup! Will definitely be coming back next time we are in SB!

My fiancée and I live in LA and sometimes we drive all the way up here just to have lunch. The sandwiches are amazing, the popcorn is insane and Mark the owner is awesome. Do yourself a favor and stop in!

Unexpected yumminess from this little hole in the wall deli. Tried the Pickles&Swiss and Roast Beef and Horseradish sandwiches– both wonderful.

The food is SO GOOD. I mean delicious. They have a lot of different sandwich options. I had the salami and it was great. They have pre-​created sandwiches as well as build your own. The service is really friendly and helpful.
Whether you are visiting or a local, I highly recommend this place.
Also try the mint tea — it’s delicious as well!

What can I say but yummy… OK so very simple menu of salads and hot/​cold sandwiches which are delish. I took my sister and 2 kids for a quick light lunch before we went to the sea center and beach (no one wants a heavy belly as you head to the beach on a hot day). So it’s tucked back just a bit but perfect to get away from all the foot traffic and actually enjoy lunch.
So I ordered the spinach feta salad, sis got the chicken Cobb, and both kids got pb&J. The quality of ingredients is outstanding !! They offer free water and popcorn. Come on score!!! The salads were so filling but in a good way and the sandwiches we on quality bread with amazing crunchy peanut butter and the jam was divine!!! This spot is worth it, just keep your eyes open so you don’t miss it!!!

All ingredients are so fresh, nice server, he gave me a free sample tomato soup (was really delicious and taste healthy).
My friend and I would like to have their high quality sandwiches when we are in downtown.
And I’ll give 10stars on their Roast beef and horse radish!

GREAT little mom and pop sandwich shop in SB. The staff there is extremely friendly and the sandwiches are TO DIE FOR. I ordered the Chicken Parm and my BF ordered the chipotle chicken (I think), but whatever it was it was sooooooooo good. They also gave us a small side of tomato soup on the house which was great as well. The soup was creamy and had some rice in it. Great for dipping. All over A+ for this place.

I love this sandwich shop! Their ingredients are clean, fresh, and tasty. I’ve never had a problem with service because they’re quick and very friendly. I love their Parma Chicken & Spinach sandwich: the chicken is well breaded and the spinach adds a nice touch, though I wish the sandwich had a little more sauce.
I knocked off a star because I think it’s a little pricy given the size of the sandwiches, but I really enjoy this spot.

Get the tomato soup! I just wanted to mention this first for anyone just cruising through reviews and is to lazy to read them thoroughly. It’s amazing, it’s so hot and comforting and creamy and everything you would ever want. Please just trust me!
The owner is a true gentlemen. He cares about his shop and that’s why it’s probably the most successful shop on the strip. Offering FRESH, light and healthy food that tastes great. You have the freedom to fully customize from countless options of unique ingredients that are fresh and prepared. You also have many choices of bread. The deli itself is healthy and not fatty. Even the pastrami which was great. There are also very creative sandwich options. My wife being extremely indecisive sometimes was met with patience and care. We had a pastrami sandwich we customized and the crispy chicken west. Everything was perfect. We enjoyed our meal very much and can’t wait to return to SB to have it again.
Only complaint I have was that the water dispenser was empty and I would of loved to see some salad options. I really think I would bring this restaurant to the next level if they had a menu of salads to compete with their sandwiches. But seriously thank you for bringing a genuinely good, healthy and affordable meal to the strip.

Je me décide à prendre le sandwich à composer mais sous son regard agacé, je change vite pour prendre un déjà à la carte avec une boisson.
Résultat: 1 sandwich brioché au rosbeef toasté coupé en deux sans accompagnement même pas un sachet de chips et un Orangina pour 14 $ IT S A JOKE???
A ce prix là j aurai au moins aimé pouvoir choisir en prenant mon temps et ce n est pas Parce qu il ni a pas de service à table donc pas de tips forcément, qu il né faut pas être aimable !! A bon entendeur.

From the complimentary pickle popcorn dispenser to the cold brew on draft to the ongoing promotion to be the next sandwich star (share your creation to get it featured as the sandwich of the month), it’s hard not to love Pickles & Swiss.
The special was the crunch baguette and for some reason fried chicken and spicy slaw wouldn’t stop staring me down. The menu is overwhelming, so having something laid out for me was a nice reprieve from having to make a decision from all the available options.
The sandwich was made in lickity split time and I was asked if I wanted a pickle before they handed over the paper bag. Ummmmmm… yes.
The sandwich was stellar. Bread was crunchy and chewy and the fried chicken was on point. If I was a rapper, the spicy slaw would be my new shawty, ya heard?!?

It’s clean but the unweighted rating is not a 4.5
I ordered:
Honey Gobble: I added ham to it. The sandwich is good. The ingredients are added in perfect amounts and it comes together at the bite so nicely but it’s not anything I couldn’t make myself at home after a whole foods shopping trip. Very simple and okay pickle. 3.75÷5
Basil Tomato Soup: Horrible. Had no distinct taste, flavorless with the texture of tomato sauce. Glad to have just gotten a small. ¹⁄₅
Service: Cool dudes, casual service. 3.5÷5
