My friends and I had a Groupon deal and had a blast. Adrienne was a sweetie! It a small location but the wine was tasty!

Trever was great, great first experience. Loved the wine. He gave us great advice about the neighborhood. Very descriptive about the wines we were trying. Would definitely come back next visit to funk zone

Awesome wine! Awesome people! Delicious ports and desserts. The only winery around SB without the know-it all atmosphere and very personable. They take relaxing and wine tasting to another level. Although the tasting room is small the people are great.

Kalyra II — By the sea… with you and me AND our dog! How wonderful that this tasting room is DOGFRIENDLY(to those sweet socially adapted dogs of course)!! My husband and I are wine club members or «Wine Thief’s» with Kalyra Winery home based in Santa Ynez on Refugio Road. Yes the infamous winery used in the movie«Sideways». This location is a tasting room in the heart of Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone. We love coming here for tastings and to pick up our wine shipments and always a few additional bottles of wine for ourselves or for gifts. The added bonus is it is dog friendly and we can bring our sweet old Great Dane inside with us. Note: we also bring in her own dog bed so she could lay there comfortably while we spend time tasting these amazing wines. They do provide a dog water bowl. Trevor, that manages this location, is simply the best. We are quickly becoming good friends after a few visits and we have the«Cheers» thing going on. Yes where everyone knows your name! If you can’t make the drive to Santa Ynez for their actual winery/tasting room be sure to stop in to Kalyra II and enjoy a sampling of many of their wines. You will not be disappointed. And their location is perfect. You can continue on with a walk out to Sterns Wharf, the beach or to walk State Street for a meal. Enjoy!

Walked in, man behind the bar was on the phone, didn’t acknowledge us and stayed on the phone. Sat there for literally 10 minutes and he didn’t even stop his conversation, after 15 minutes of being ignored we left. It was a Tuesday, it was dead, we were the only ones in there. Very disappointed. PLEASEDONOTCOMEHERE, the owner is a major a-hole

The service was good, but the wines were not. None of us even finished our tasting. With all of the choices in the funk zone I would definitely skip this place. The ambiance was very divey and overall we were not impressed.

The wine was by far my least favorite but I liked the price and how casual it was inside.

Our bartender Liz was fuh’freakin’nominal, the wines were amazing, and the prices were affordable. We used a groupon deal which made the experience even more affordable and were able to take home a complimentary bottle of merlot, we did end up buying one of their desert wines as well. Not so unfortunately we came in a little buzzy from the heavy handed server at the last tasting and so ended up leaving Kalyra a lot buzzy but luckily we were able to stumble back safely to our hotel. Can’t wait to bring friends and family here to share in the experience!

We are members but have only visited the Santa Ynez location. We wanted to do some wine tasting and a wine pickup, but that drive from our house is pretty far. This Santa Barbara location is a bit closer to us and was just as great as the Santa Ynez location. Service was friendly and the weather was much cooler since we were steps from the beach. Great service, tasty wines and a fun day trip to Santa Barbara!

The BEST wine club membership I have ever had! I have been a member to several places and I am most happy with my membership with Kalyra. They have a full tasting menu in Whites and Reds and one FULL tasting menu of Dessert wines which is rare! I have been to really high end places that claim to have super exclusive dessert wines that taste just like the ones that Kalyra has… so if you like dessert wines, this is your place! Also, the service is amazing. Especially Liz, she is super friendly and also very knowledgeable about what the wines pair well with.

This place is a MUST! Every time I come to SB I go straight to Kalyara, it’s right across from the train station(which is what I usually take) and it’s right before«The Funk Zone.» Trevor at Kalayra is beyond Amazing, he’s efficient, funny, and personal. He remembers us every time we go back and is even more Helpful than than the time before! We’re so loyal to Kalayra because of how Awesome they’ve ALWAYS been to us! Can’t wait till our next visit!

First time at their downtown SB location. Parking’s difficult. There’s a tiny lot they share with another establishment, and street parking is at a premium. The air conditioning was remarkably anemic. The two staff present seemed a bit overworked, and would pour pretty unevenly within our group and among others, too. Uneven pours at tasting rooms are one of my pet peeves. Why?! Why?! No free glass. They informed me that Santa Ynez isn’t giving them away anymore, either. Sad… at one point, our entire wine glass collection was from Kalyra.

Great little tasting room right off State St. and close to other wineries on the Urban Wine Trail. They have a very relaxed vibe in this little tiki hut. It was a featured winery on «Sideways,» and the folks behind the counter were very informative and friendly. I’m more partial to dry wines and reds, so I went with that option instead of the dessert wine tasting option. Good stuff!

Super friendly staff and cute ambiance. We did two flights one sweet ad the other was more regular wine and we had a good time trying the varieties they offered. We did end up buying a bottle of their sweet wine which was infused with pineapple, it was super tasty.

One of my favourite wineries so far. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and not very posh so you don’t have to worry about being a novice wine drinker or dressing up to visit it! Our server was extremely welcoming and patient as this was my boyfriend’s first wine tasting and my second. The scene is very intimate and the décor is Hawaiian style and really fun. We used the Axxess card for santa barbara and got the 2-for-1 wine tasting so it only came out to be $ 10! They had a great selection and great servers explaining each wine with care and detail. The only thing is that tip is CASHONLY. Which was scary, but I had a 5 in my wallet which is very rare. Definitely plan to make a trip to this winery if you want a relaxed, fun, and chill time. Then head on over to area 51 because it’s equally as fun and they always recommend each other to visitors! Will definitely come back.

This winery satellite shop is great. Never super crowded. Still has the dirt lot/down to earth feel. The wine is superb. Wine tastes like it is made precision and expertise — esp their steel cask sauv-blanc and their red blend MC2. This satellite location in SB does it justice and had a friendly/informative staff. Great time when driving though SB.

Loved Kalyra Winery! It’s a small bar in Santa Barbara but it is a great place to learn more about wines and get a nice cup of white or red wine. I love this particular location because there are many other restaurants nearby so it is a great way to start off a meal! My boyfriend and I came in here and got their wine tasting menu for $ 10! Such a steal. For this price, you are able to try 3 different whites and 2 reds. The woman at the bar was so sweet and gave us a complimentary dessert wine as well. She knew that we weren’t from the area and gave us a list of restaurants to try too. All of the whites were crisp and dry, just how I like it. Their reds were full of body and very rich. The woman educated us on every glass of wine before we took a sip of it. We learned how it was made, what it would go well with, and what kinds of fruits were used to make the drink. I learned so much in such a short amount of time. My favorite was their Cabarnet Sauvignon, you have to try it! I enjoyed their wines so much that I bought the bottle of Cab to bring home and share with my family. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend you coming to Kalyra Winery.

I find it so strange I’ve never reviewed Kalyra, despite having been going here for over 5 years(before we realized it was the winery in the movie Sideways! that clicked years later!!!) AND being a wine thieve(their term for wine club members). This was also stop #3 on our wine tasting tour in August; obviously, I try to go here at least a couple of times a year and typically go quarterly for the wine shipment … unless we find difficulty making the day trip or weekend of it.(That is rare b/c we love going to S.B.) Anyway, we love: +the vibe of the tasting room w/its tiki theme(different from the tasting room at the vineyard) +their reds +their desert wines +the MC2 +the customer service(props to Trevor in the tasting room, Evie with wine thieves, and really all of the staff… I just only remember their names right now) +the winery itself(separate review, if I haven’t already gotten to it) +the price of tastings(in the rare event we have to pay because we bring more than 4 of us) Bottom Line — My hubby and I are wine thieves because we love Kalyra! Check it out if you haven’t already been!!! Yes, it gets crowded, but it is super fun! Tip — Make a reservation if you have a larger group… It’s a small tasting room, so check in w/them on the size you’re bringing in.

Eh, really far from the best tasting experience I’ve had. The older guy was borderline rude and the younger woman was inattentive. We were itching to leave after our second pour. The icing on the cake was that there were only 2 others in the bar and they still ignored us when we were ready for our next round. We got lured in because of the HI connection and cool décor, and I regret it. We left with a bad taste in our mouths — mainly with the service, but also the sub-par wine(the service could have tainted by taste buds). I also note that they’re missing a huge biz opportunity by only having small-sized t-shirts. Would definitely recommend people against this place. Try Deep Sea on the pier instead.

4.5 years ago, I walked into the Kalyra By The Sea Tasting Room and immediately fell in love with everything about it, the atmosphere, the stellar crew, and last but never least, the wine. Being an LA resident, I don’t get to savor Santa Barbara nearly as often as I would like, but whenever I do make the time to enjoy life, I always visit Kalyra. Recently, I finally became a member of their wine club. It was long overdue and I’m glad I didn’t put it off a day longer. If you get the opportunity, check out this place, it really is one of a kind.
