Very good food. Always give a lot of food. It is food court food so seating can be limited and the notice level is loud. But still a very good place to get food while at the mall. There are other places that serve food that is similar. But are not as good and cost more.

It’s friday at 7:00 pm and we were ordering when this one girl starts cleaning the counter and she started spraying window cleaner all over by the food I asked the one girl at the register to tell her to stop and they both acted like they didn’t care. I Think the Owner Of this place Probably doesnt care But really The Mall Management should look into this place.

2 items combo turned out to about $ 9 Pricier than your average 2item plate Chinese food. Food is good to buy for the kids(enough food for all day). Large portions. Great for to-go. As for me, let’s just say my taste bud would like to try a variety of other things instead. Try the orange noodle, teriyaki chicken ! Teriyaki chicken and chow mein are good

I’ve been eating at Hawaiian Express since the 90’s and they’ve outlasted quite a few restaurants inside Main Place Mall. Their food has improved a bit since the 90’s but their prices have steadily increased along with it at $ 8 plus tax for 2 items. Maybe if there’s a worthy competitor, they might lower their prices but for now they’re the king of the food court at Main Place Mall.

I’m not really impressed at all. My sister and I walked over and were looked at and ignored several times by the employees. 2 of them were counting money at the counter behind the food where everyone can see, and the other girl working there was laughing and talking to them, then getting out some accessories to help with serving the food. Never once did we receive any sort of greeting or anything. No «Hi, welcome!» or «I’ll be with you in just a moment». We weren’t able to order until my sister spoke up and said«I think we’re ready». I ended up getting the«Luau 1» combo, I believe. It was about $ 7 and included one entrée and technically one side. I got the katsu chicken and half orange noodles, half fried rice. My sister got the same combo, but with pineapple chicken and all fried rice. Upon paying, I asked if they had any sauce for the Katsu chicken. The girl said no, they have teriyaki and hot sauce(?!) Why would you serve Katsu chicken and NOT have Tonkatsu sauce to go with it?! Makes no sense! The food ended up just being ok. Noodles were like rejected chow mein. The fried rice was ok. The main thing that set this apart from chinese food was the addition of pineapple to a lot of things! The chicken was really boring without the sauce it should have come with. I got teriyaki to dip it in, which was alright. My sister’s pineapple chicken was ok, but not very flavorful. I’d also like to add some observations here: Meals do not include macaroni salad, which is weird for a hawaiian place. I didn’t even think they had macaroni salad, but a closer look revealed that the odd looking yellowish creamy noodles I saw were in fact that. Not even elbow pasta; it looked gross. They also appeared to not serve Loco Moco, which is another weird thing. Overall, I have no desire to return. If you want better quick service noodles, rice, and meat, go a couple shops down to Panda Express. Want better Hawaiian food? Find an L&L Hawaiian BBQ or King’s Hawaiian. Both are amazing, similarly priced, and MUCH better food, staff, and variety. Not to mention Kings’ has tonkatsu sauce for the Katsu chicken, and it is delicious! But Hawaiian Express was ultimately quite disappointing.

I’ve literally only eaten the green beans here, but they’re by far the best I’ve ever tried. I’m just not a fan of the service here.

Only came here because sadly the Mongolian grill thing wasn’t working… The thick yellow noodles caught my eye so my BF and I ended up eating here before going to the movies. The place is like Chinese food more than it is Hawaiian food. What we got: Volcano Chicken Bowl($ 4): you have the choice of getting rice or noodles. The Volcano Chicken was more like soup… my bowl was covered with their spicy sauce and it really overpowered the dish. Chicken got really soft and I seriously felt like I was eating a noodle soup dish. Pineapple Chicken Bowl($ 4): I thought this would have been sweeter or like the pineapple chicken you get at other Hawaiian places. Chicken and pineapple was soggy and had a funky taste to it so avoid this… Service: It’s like Chinese fast food style so point at what you want and pay at the counter.

I came here today to get the macaroni salad but they changed it to actual macaroni instead of the penne pasta they had before — it was still good but I prefer the penne noodles. I also got a good portion of their Henry’s Noodles which is excellent and very filling. Good choice of food to just pig out on.

I ordered some orange noodles ahead of time for my friends bridal shower because she loves their orange noodles. I paid in advance. I went to pick up and it wasnt ready. The noodles were bland. I think its over-priced for what it is. Next time I will go to Panda express to cater. It’s cheaper and better service.

I’ve been eating here for years. It’s been awhile since I’ve been here but I’m glad it’s still around. I love eating here. It still tastes just like it did. I was in the food court with my buddies and I said I have to eat at Hawaiian Express. This place brings back good memories of hanging out at Main place mall. It’s in the food court area right by the Hot Dog on a stick. They give out samples of their chicken. Delicious by the way. I got the 1 item plate. I had those orange noodles that look like chow mein but taste a million times better. It’s sweet and thick. The fried rice came with my dish as well. It more of a sticky rice and I love the texture of the light sweetness. The chicken I got with it was nice and tender. The teriyaki sauce is a plus too. They need to open more of these. Hawaiian Express over Panda Express Recommendation: Orange noodles, fried rice, and their chicken

I’ve had the food from this establisment before because my friend had them cater to a house warming party of theirs it was to my memory great. So our family decided to have them cater for my wifes b-day party. first of all you can order everything on their web site which was really convient and easy. We ordered the Hawaiian Bbq Chicken, Garlic Noodles, Ginger beef and Maui Bbq pork. They were all served in Chafing dishes and heated, which was great because the food stayed hot for over an hour long. Overall the food was really tasty and aboundant. All the guest loved it !!! Thank you Hawaiian Express for making the party a blast :]

I like it better than Panda Express, but I think it’s a tad pricier too. Fried rice was pretty good and chicken dishes were good too and portions were pretty generous.

The name may be misleading because this isn’t Hawaiian in the traditional sense. They just have asian style dishes with Hawaiian names. I have been coming here for years and years and it is still great food for a very reasonable price. The sauce is what makes this place go. I use the hawaiian bbq sauce of course on the bbq chicken but it is also great on the Honolulu fried chicken and the rice of course. They give you a ton of food, not like some places that get cheap on it they pile it high every time.

They gave us a lot of food, then again the joint was closing in a few minutes. The gals behind the corner was probably extremely tired, out worked, or perhaps filled with too much air in their heads because it seemed as if they we’re too full to smile. We came here on a whim — with scheduled errands on our list. We assumed that the Main Place Mall food court was the most convenient with all its diverse options. Food was ‘okay, nothing to brag about. I mean… it’s not bad folks, can guarantee this isn’t the place I”ll be craving for.

Ended up at Main Place to do some shopping for/with a friend. Had to eat and I wasn’t in the mood for mall food so I let her choose. As I looked at the dishes, I told her it’s not real Hawaiian food but I figure, why not try it. I could be surprised. I wasn’t. I explained to her that the only item that comes close to having some semblance of being Hawaiian is the barbecued chicken and even that’s a stretch. I don’t remember any dishes in Hawaii being named after Waikiki. Or that fried noodles are wet and oily. I didn’t see any pork or beef plates and they didn’t even know what saimin is. I can’t and won’t even suggest going unless you like mall food. Usually means items sitting on the serving line until someone orders AND if you’re looking for Hawaiian, just head to the islands. I’m finding that there’s a serious lacking of authentic Hawaiian restaurants here in Southern California.

Wanted to do the eat & shop on my lunch hour at the Santa Ana Mall. I’ve been wanting to try this place for years and finally opted for this place instead of the Mongolian food. First glance and you’ll notice that the only meat they use is chicken. This should have been an alert but I ordered the volcano chicken and another sweet/sour type chicken over my rice/noodle combo. Added an appetizer and Blueberry/banana boba drink. Total was over $ 12. BIGMISTAKE!!! The food looked OK but as soon as it hit my tastebuds, I almost gagged from the amount of salt. They tried greasing it up as well instead of adding flavor. Save your money and go somewhere else. Even the blouse on a display window might taste better.

Back in my college days in 98′ there wasn’t any L&L or all these other hawaiian bbq joints popping up and down Nor and So. Cal. You know how sometimes you have random thoughts about something you ate like say 10 years ago??? Well…it just happened. This was an occasional lunch spot for me when I was in college living in Anacreim. Granted I having been here for a looong time… I remember that Pineapple rice with hawaiian bbq chicken… back than this it was a great for a broke ass college student like myself. But, I can’t speak on the quality of the food now but Who the hell knows, that same kid that looked like Sam Choy could still be taking orders. I may just stop by here when I’m down in the OC next week.
