The line is always out the door around lunch time, but they get the to-go orders out pretty quickly. I haven’t yet found my favorite lunch item on the menu, but I am a total fry-freak, and i LOVE their french fries, curly fries, and sweet potato fries. The grilled cheeses are incredibly buttery and rich– if you like your sandwich bag to be translucent after walking across the street, then this is definitely your spot. I was a little put off by how greasy the grilled crab/shrimp sandwich was, but if I were in a manic depressive state, I’d probably be all over it. :) Still coming back for more giant salads!

Fat Maddies! Named after the family’s plump goat. I did take-out and ordered over the phone. My coworker suggested I get the Crab & Shrimp sandwich(comes on sourdough bread, there’s cheddar & mayo in it too). He told me to add a slice of tomato but I forgot to. Anyway… sandwich was pretty good, big portions, it was cut in half; subtle tasting; not too salty. I would say it tasted more crabby than shrimpy. Nothing super special but good. I also got garlic fries and my total was about $ 13.50(not sure how much for each). Most of the fries were soggy but there were a few crispy ones and they were generous with the garlic and quantity. Not too overpowering though. I went in at my scheduled time(12:30) to pick up my order and the place was packed! I asked if there was a different line for take out and they said«no.» A few mins later, one of the workers’ asked me what my name was and rang me up in the front. He also asked if there were any condiments I’d like; I said ketchup and he gave me 6 packets. PARKING spaces are really small! Be careful! Shared lot with other businesses.

This place wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. And I likely won’t eat here again unless someone else suggests it. I won’t turn it down, but I won’t be offering it up. On another note, why would you pay $ 3+ for a side of fries with your burger? Why? My friend got the gyro, and she seemed to like it. The burger was fine, but it wasn’t mouthwatering. It’s just very so-so. But again, not«bad.»

I was craving a salad after a weekend of carbs. After picking up my daughter from Modern Recess, I took the recommendation of the owner to go to Fat Maddie’s for a salad or the chicken gyro. I didn’t even know they had salads. In the past, back when I was not watching what I ate, I’ve always ordered their grilled sandiwches with crab. I called in the order for a Chicken Gyro and a Chicken Caesar. By the time I got to the lot, I found parking right in front, and I was the next one in line to be helped. The guy in the ktichen was already boxing up my order. Easy breezy, in and out. The smell coming from my carry out bag was irresistible. I had to take a bite of my gyro before I pulled out of my space. OMG! I just poured all the tszaki sauce on top of the piping hot chickeb gyro that had perfectly shredded lettuce, chunks of tomato, red onions(I took out). I took another bite and then another. Ooooo… why did I only order 1. By the time I got home, there were just crumb in the box. How I managed to get home on a Tuesday evening while pausing at the light for bites, I don’t recall. What I do know is that I’ll be back tomorrow night for another chicken gyro. My daughter’s Caesar was also amazing. She loved all the craved parm and sprinkled parm throughout the salad. Definitely be back soon!

Fresh, quick, simple, huge portions, friendly service. Mediterranean salad was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Huge delicious slices of green & red bell peppers, tomatoes. Couldnt have asked for a better lunch!

This is a fantastic spot to grab a sandwich, salad, or entrée for dinner. The staff is friendly and quick. The food is reasonably priced, but more importantly, it’s delicious! I had the linguisa sandwich. It was full of flavor, moist, and had a tasty lemon sauce that perfectly highlighted the flavors. They also have daily specials, which are often delicious. Great food, service, and quality. Fat Maddie’s is one of the best spots to eat in the San Ramon area.

Searching around on Unilocal,I came across Fat Maddie’s and decided to give it a shot. This is a place that serves dishes for lunch primarily, with salads and sandwiches. And as other Unilocalers have mentioned this place gets packed! I walked in and asked a waitress how the seating works, so she tells me to order and I get the number and then you select your seat. Note its pouring cats and dogs rain outside, so I told my wife and kids to wait in the car b/c the lack of seating. After ordering my food, I go to a 4-top and was told by the waitress that it was already taken by two people in line. ??? I was just told by the same server that you have to order first, and due to their lack of organization I was forced to get everything to go, meaning I had to carry four to go bags out in the pouring rain which was a bummer, in fact it really pissed me off due to the inconvenience. My MAJOR reco for this place is to implement(and enforce) some organization of your seats, it was clear that its inconsistent and a mess. Anyways, the food is amazing; we got a steak sandwich, a chicken pesto sandwich, and two kids’ meals. The steak was cooked perfectly, with the steak being as tender as could be. The chicken pesto sandwich was yummy as well; they didn’t overload it with too much pesto, and used a cheese style bread to add to the flavor. I would return but know what to expect.

Came here because I was craving a burger but opted for a variation and got the California burger which came with toasted sourdough bread instead of regular buns. It also came with 2 patties, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, onions and some sort of spread. The meat was pretty well seasoned and the veggies were fresh. I also got a side of garlic fries which were nice and crispy but I wish there were more garlic on it. A bit on the pricey side, but good overall if you’re looking for a quick meal.

Great for lunch! If you’re in a rush for lunch, come here by 11:30am to avoid the lunch crowd at 12pm. The line can get pretty long(but goes by pretty fast). ORDERING: Walk right up to the line(if there’s one) or to the counter(if there isn’t a line) and place your order. They will give you a number to place on your table and bring the food right out to you. FOOD/DRINK: Food options range from burgers to salads to gyros. My favorite here is the Traditional Gyro(lamb and beef). You can add a drink & a side for an additional $ 3.75. Self-service refills on drinks via the fountains and dispensers inside. AMBIANCE: Relaxing — there’s indoor and outdoor seating, take your pick! Would definitely come back here for more gyros when I’m in the mood!

I love this place. I really do. Except the fact that they don’t have a pick up counter. I’m constantly ordering lunches in advance for critical meetings and I always end up spending a ton of time in line when I can see my food there and read to go. That’s my only annoyance with this place. Otherwise — fabulous food! Small place that’s super busy and very limited seating. Sell beer which is great! Their salads are awesome along with their gyros! The chicken sandwiches are okay, boring to me but I’ve only tried a couple.

I came here with a friend because he suggested it. He said that he really liked it and I was open to trying a new place. I kind the vicinity where it was at, it’s next to the Starbucks in the shopping center. It was around 2PM on a Friday afternoon, so the lunch rush may have come and gone by the time that we got there. It was a really hot afternoon and wanted to get out of the heat. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the A/C running, just the ceiling fans. But it was cooler in there than it was outside. They have a menu on the wall or you can read the ingredients in depth on one of their menus. You walk up and order, take your number and sit down. Then they bring the food to your table. My friend got a hamburger with fries. I opted for the crab and lobster sandwich with a cup of clam chowder. It took about 10 minutes before our food came to us. The clam chowder was served with oyster crackers, which is how it should always be served! For some reason, I thought that in the description, it said that the sandwich is crab and lobster served with mayo on toasted sourdough bread. But it was served toasted with cheese. I think that is the main reason why I wasn’t a huge fan of the sandwich. While, I love cheese and I love lobster and crab, I love it when it is moist and juicy, either with butter, mayo or both. Unfortunately, the grilling with the cheese made the sandwich a little too dry for my liking. I stole a couple of my friend’s french fries, they were good. I would come here again, I think that it’s a good restaurant in a centrally located area. It is right next to a Starbucks and across the street from a corporate building, therefore I’m sure they are very busy during lunchtime hours. When I come here again because I do want to come back, I will try something else. I think that it’s a nice restaurant within the shopping center. Sometimes you have to try a few things before you find out what you really like at a certain restaurant.

Local hidden gem! This place is amazing! I’ve been here twice and ordered the same burger both times. Their«Cali Burger» — Cheddar, chipotle, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, [grilled] onion on sourdough. This tasty burger packed with flavor, is freshly made, and is of a generous size. You’ll need at least 3 – 4 napkins! I’ve tried their fries, curly fries, onion rings, and garlic fries. I’d have to say that their garlic fries are my favorite. Lots of garlic and Parmesan cheese. Don’t forget to ask for a side of their home made ranch and bbq sauces. My wife has tried their«Just a Burger» with their garden patty instead and said it’s delicious! Their«Just a Burger» comprises of cheddar, thousand island, lettuce, tomato, onion on sesame seed bun. Located off Crow Canyon Road and a block from Costco, it can be hard to find. It’s a few shops right of Petco. Keep in mind… they close at 8:30pm daily

Ugh. What a great salad. I went to Fat Maddie’s Grille after work with a friend after hearing how great it was. I wasn’t so, so excited because I think the name of the restaurant is kind of dumb. I am glad to report, however, that my opinion on the name of this fine establishment does not parallel my thoughts on the quality of the food they serve. We both ordered salads from the walk up cashier, grabbed our numbers, and waited an appropriate amount of time. And then it happened. One of the best salads of my entire life was presented to me, and for a reasonable $ 12 or so. This was no ordinary Chicken Cobb. This was a perfectly grilled chicken breast atop crispy greens. Crunchy bacon, warm pita bread, half an avocado, juicy tomatoes, cool cucumbers, and sharp blue cheese adorned the salad. The size was large, and the portion was perfect for my hungry, growing boy metabolism. My friend got the salmon salad and she really enjoyed it. They also serve drinks in mason jars, which is always fun.

I expected this pace to be good but I would say it’s average. Lots of customer outside and in. They mostly look all local. The staff here were really friendly and the place had a nice causal atmosphere to hang out at. They had patio tables which I liked but was crowded with people as we arrived during dinner time. Most of us ordered the crab and shrimp sandwich. Three of us ordered that with a clam chowder and I had it with beer battered onion rings. Our sandwich was missing something like mayo as it was a little dry for me. Tasty but too dry. It could have served with dill pickles though. The onion rings were pretty big and not greasy. My hubby ordered their fried chicken and a side of French fries. It was ok. Both the chicken and fries needed seasoning… we could make it better… ;-) They actually serve beer here! I would say this place is only average and maybe, I will give it another chance later on…

Awesome place to come for lunch and enjoy the outdoor seating on a nice day! Came here for lunch on a Monday around 12:00. It wasn’t too crowded and my GF and I were able to get a seat outside without waiting. This is not a full service restaurant. Menu above counter doesn’t have prices. Grab one of the menus on the counter to check it out. Order your food at the counter and they will give you a number to put at your table. Once we sat down, there was someone to greet us and bring us utensils, which was nice. Food came shortly after that! Food: We both ordered the Traditional Gyro(Lamb and Beef). If you want a meal, you can add a drink and a side for $ 3.75. The gyro was good! It didn’t come wrapped, which made it kind of hard to eat, but I was able to make it work –Tzatziki sauce came on the side so that you can add to your preference –Fries were nice and crispy! If you don’t like crispy fries, these aren’t for you I will be definitely be back!

After a good ride on a warm Sunday, I decided to consult Unilocal*for a delicious reward. I remembered going to a place once, what was it? Oh Yeah, Fat Maddies… That was the place where they have nice big tilting sunbrellas and lovely outdoor seating. Hmm, let’s check the online menu… Mmmmm, jalapeño chicken on ciabatta with bacon and pepper jack. Yep, that’s what sounds good! The chicken was cooked perfectly. Very juicy and tender. The fresh jalapenos gave it some good kick & the ciabatta bread was fresh. Yum! Show up before the sun sets, sit outside on a warm evening, have a beer and a delicious meal.

The church that my friend and I attend is less than a mile away from Fat Maddie’s Grille, so we stopped by for lunch a few Sundays ago. Based on our experience there, we will probably be back on subsequent Sundays as well. I love that they have a huge menu board up at the front, but if you’re looking for a little more information/descriptions, there are laminated menus up at the front counter. It was my first time there, so I took one and then stepped off to the side so that I didn’t hold up the line. After a few minutes of perusing their menu(plenty of great options available — whether you’re in the mood for a burger, sandwich, salad, etc.), my friend and I decided upon the following: Combo Basket #3 ½ Garlic Feta Fries & ½ Sweet Potato Fries Amarillo Burger(for him) Bleu Cheese Burger(for me) I didn’t get an itemized receipt, but the total amount was $ 21.70, which I think is very reasonable for lunch. After we received a laminated number card, and two mason jars for water, we headed outside since the air conditioning inside made it pretty chilly. In no time at all, a waiter brought our order out with napkins and silverware, too. They had all of the usual condiments already on the table, so we didn’t need anything else. Over the course of our meal, we had two other people stop by to ask us how we were doing, and if they could get us anything. The service here is really great! I have to say that I was thrown for a bit of a loop when my bleu cheese burger showed up in between two thick slices of toasted, buttered bread, instead of the traditional bun, but there was still a 1⁄3 pound patty, bleu cheese, bacon, and lettuce(I told them to hold the grilled onions) in there, so I was still very happy with my order. My friend polished off his amarillo burger, and we got about halfway through the fries. I enjoyed the sweet potato fries, but I think their garlic feta fries are my favorite. We were given styrofoam takeout boxes and I took the remainder of the fries and the other half of my burger home. I had the last half of my burger for dinner, but the fries didn’t hold up so well. If you can, definitely make sure to finish those off as soon as possible. All in all, this is a decent place to have a sit-down lunch if you’re in San Ramon. The staff is really friendly, there’s ample parking in the private lot, indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of options on the menu, etc.
