THEBEST clean-eating restaurant that is all organic, non-GMO, gluten-free & vegan! First impression walking in: They keep this place immaculate! Then there’s so many fresh and choices for meals and beverages. But even though all of the options are healthy and vegan, you don’t feel like anything is missing — there’s so much flavor and substance that even a non-full-time vegan can enjoy! The staff is really friendly too!

Fast & great service Blue cheese mushroom burger — more of a savory burger, creamy, I really liked the mushrooms in the burger, definitely would eat again Veggie burger– it was a more fresh tasting burger, it seemed like there was possibly hummus in the burger, refreshing burger & I would definitely buy again Red roasted chipotle tacos– creamy, flavorful, delicious & filling Piña colada cheesecake — it was good, the crust isn’t like a graham cracker, seems to have more of a nut texture Recommend & would eat here again & try other items

I first came across Baagan in Rocklin while at my in laws’ house. I was so happy to find a vegan restaurant! We went for take outs and boy, their food was just delicious! I Unilocaled to see if they have other locations and found this one in San Ramon. It’s still far from where I live but more accessible than Rocklin. I’ve been coming here since and I absolutely enjoy their food! Their veggie burger is the best one I’ve had so far! I also love their tacos, vegetable panini, kitchari, and kale salad! Don’t forget the dessert– love the mango cheesecake! Even my kids who doesn’t follow the vegan diet love their food! Other than the tasty food, one other important thing is I am confident that what I eat here isn’t going to give me any headache or bloating! Lastly, the place is clean and has a bright atmosphere.

This place is authentic. If you’re not accustomed to eating healthy, exercise caution, ’cause this food is for people who happily welcome vegetables, quinoa, freshly made soups, and other delectable concoctions. It’s also for people who would rarely-to-never eat refined sugars! Ambiance: clean lines, soothing. What’d I try today? The quinoa wrap with avocado on rice paper, kitchari, stress tamer hot tea, and a raw chocolate chip cookie bite that was to die for.

Excellent food! I had a bleu cheese mushroom burger my first time there. It was simply divine! My second time I went, I had their enchiladas which were excellent. If you’re looking for good grub, that’s actually healthy, go here!

Fresh and phenomenal! This place is outrageously delicious! We stopped in on our way through town and had high hopes based on the previous Unilocal reviews. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, so I relied on the recommendations of their über helpful concierge of tastebuds for guidance. My expectations were far exceeded with the Roasted Chipotle Seasonal Tacos… Followed by the Mexican«fried» ice cream. Words can’t explain how yummy my meal was tonight! I wish I lived closer so i could visit more often!

I recently transferred to work in San Ramon and was looking for a vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Baagan came up in the Unilocal search, so I decided to take my newly hired employee to give this place a try. 1. It was very quiet when we entered, but we purposely went to lunch late to avoid the lunch crowd. The interior appeared to be appealing and clean. 2. We were greeted in a very friendly manner and given suggestions on what to try, since this was our first visit. 3. We both decided to try the blue cheese mushroom burger, which was fantastically delicious! 4. It’s a bit pricey, so my recommendation to the owners would be adding a side of fries or something of that sort. That burger looked a bit lonely on the large platter! I will definitely be returning and would recommend this place to anyone! Thank you to everyone who made our lunch experience so pleasant!

I admit that when this place first opened I completely misjudged it. It is much much better than I had expected. So finally today we came around to give it a try. I got the veggie quesadilla and also the peanut butter cup shake. We also tried 2 different soups. One was the lentil. All were very tasty. I also tried the kale salad. At first, looking at it, I wasn’t sure it would be that tasty. But yet once again, I was wrong! The kale salad was excellent! This entire restaurant greatly surprised me! I had no idea at all about the food quality and the tastiness. Oh wait, I forgot one thing. They gave us some little samples of the cheesecake. This is great! Maleha and Heidi were especially nice and friendly. You are very fortunate to have such charming employees. We are definitely coming back!

The décor and the food is great. It’s a self-serve place so I’m not sure why I left a 15% tip to a less than mediocre service. You have to pick up your own food and bust your own tray. Please see the pictures for comments. Overall the food is quite tasty – a bit on the pricy side though. $ 10.50 for vegan mushroom burger with no sides. $ 9 lentil tacos $ 6 Turkish coffee I think if they added some fruits and veggies on their $ 10 plates it might attract more patrons.

Am completely disappointed with the food. I was expecting a lot after looking at the reviews, veggie burger was bland and flavor less, cookie dough and tacos were k not great and so far my fav one was khichidi even my 20month old baby liked it who is a picky eater. So I would like to add one more star for it. Overall not great food.

A great vegan find courtesy my co-worker. It’s a new-age type of place where menu options are organic and locally sourced. It was relatively quite — but that could be because they are relatively new in this area(this is their second location). I ordered veggie burger with sautéed mushrooms. They burger was decked quite high, so be prepared to be sloppy! The bread roll was soft and nice, the chick-peas based patty was yummy and unlike the frozen industrial veggie patties that many others use. We got lentil soup on the house as part of the Unilocal checkin(thanks Unilocal!). The owner is really into providing good healthy vegan eating options and got inspired by her personal experience in experimenting with a healthy diet. My co-worked also had Baagan’s aromatic tea and had good things to say about its masala taste. Incidentally, you can eat and shop for some of the aromatic organic Indian spices and tea here as well. Recommend that you stop by and have a nice inspiring chat with the owner! P.S: in case you are wondering, «Baagan» means garden.

After three days of Christmas Holiday feasting the wife and I decided to have a cleansing meal and since we were in the San Ramon area Baagan seemed like just what we had in mind. Now I’m not a vegetarian and don’t even know what a vegan is but I am definitely epicurious and have tried many vegetarian(vegan?) dishes over the years so I know how tasty and fulfilling veggies can be. We tried the chipotle tacos, the Korean lettuce wraps, and the khitchari( Unilocalers get a check-in special of a free cup of khitchari, so I claimed mine). The Khitchari was very tasty and fulfilling, it reminded me of my favorite yellow dal curry. Thank you Baagan for encouraging Unilocaling! The Korean lettuce wraps, made with brown rice and mushrooms, were also delicious. Mushrooms are wonderful as a meat substitute since they can have a firm, chewy texture and are oozing with flavor. Unfortunately, the tacos fell far short of my expectations. They were essentially cole slaw on a corn tortilla wrap. I would definitely NOT recommend them. IMHO they need to add some tempeh or other meat-substitute to the tacos to make them more substantial. Portions were a bit small for the price(most items are $ 9). Since we were trying to cut back on our consumption after the holiday binging the portion size was OK, this time, but if I were hungry I would have been very disappointed. To be honest, as I was eating I gazed longingly out the window at the Taco Bell across the parking lot… and I don’t even like Taco Bell!!! Minus 1-star for the tacos and the modest portions. Baagan has a fast-food type ordering system where you order and pay first. You retrieve your food from the serving window, get your own water and cutlery, and then they expect you to bus your trays to the clean-up area. This annoyed me since they use i-pads for credit card payments and I automatically pressed the 15% tip button before realizing that I was getting zero service in return. If I return to Baagan I won’t order the tacos and I won’t be tipping 15%! Minus another star.

I absolutely love that the cuisine here is organic, vegan, and just so healthy. My husband and I visited recently for dinner, and were really impressed by the environment. The walls are beautiful, bright colors, and the restaurant is very clean and minimalistic in nature. There were a few other people there when we visited. They were enjoying their meals– it was very clear to see. We ordered a large kale salad and the quesadilla. The lady who took our order was very kind, but kept returning to her cell phone while we were at the counter. Anyway, she was kind and asked us how we liked our meal at the end of our visit. The food preparation took about ten minutes or so, and you could see the chef’s working in the kitchen. Lots of hard workers back there! I loved to see how clean the kitchen was. The surfaces were clean, and everything seemed to be in its place. The café is a serve-yourself kind of style, so you pick up your food rather than have a waiter bring it to you(which was why I didn’t understand the«tip» option at checkout). They have organic condiments and hot/cold water available as well. When you finish your meal, they have little signs that show where to put your dishes and glasses. It was really nicely organized. We really liked the food. It was fresh, tasty, and the quality is what attracted us to the restaurant in the first place. We were very pleased with our meal, and appreciated the compassion that this restaurant is doing its best to spread.

Its interesting to have two restaurants virtually right next to each other specializing in Indian cuisine. You got Favorite Indian Restaurant(an excellent lunch buffet) and then you have Baagan. I was looking for a vegetarian, healthier lunch option after a couple of days eating less-healthier stuff on a business trip. I was impressed by Baagan. The menu had some very creative sandwiches, soups, and desserts. I ordered a bunch of stuff to sample their menu. Everything was big on flavor, filling, probably healthy, and yet moderate in calories and probably fat free. Vegan Burger: Very good — patty was flavorful, not too dry. Its similar to a Falafel, but with Indian spices. I added some avocado slices which probably helped. This bumped the order to $ 10 which qualifies a free soup by Unilocal check-in. Kitchari: Basically a lentil-like, thick soup that’s pretty tasty and filling. I think it has some turmeric which adds color and health benefits. Coconut Chai: A bit pricy($ 7) what amounted to something that looks like Asian-style bubble tea. However — they use coconut sugar, toasted coconut, cashew milk, and their special tea. Very refreshing — I liked the sweetness of coconut with the mild spice from the chai. Overall, solid 4-stars. I will come back to sample their other offerings. It’ll be a nice alternative lunch option from Favorite Indian. Definitely more guilt-free!

Who knew a nori wrap filled with raw vegetables and hummus could be so filling? Well, it can when you’re eating what feels like 1 lb. of vegetables. It’s so good too! Their hummus is delicious and the vegetables were all really fresh. The cherry tomatoes were so sweet too. The restaurant was only ¼ filled when I got there but I still waited about 10 minutes for my food. The people there are very friendly. Avocado cost $ 1.50 extra but they give you a lot, about half an avocado I’m guessing. Maybe I’ll bring my own next time. I will definitely come back to try other things. Remember to check-in so you can get your free kitchari(with any purchase over $ 10).

I’ve been to the Roseville location a few times, and it’s pretty similar, although there are some menu differences. I didn’t expect much of a crowd on Sunday at 10am on Memorial weekend, and indeed I was the only one. The serving woman(manager?) was pretty friendly, and was patiently explaining to someone on the phone what was in the food(it’s vegan of course, plus no soy or peanuts). I ordered the panini with no onions. I’m only giving 4 stars since although the sandwich was good, it was tiny — definitely a snack, and not a $ 9 lunch sandwich(filled me in for 2nd breakfast though), plus it was on wheat sandwich bread and not what you’d expect from a panini. That aside, I used to live about ½ mile from here, and used to come to the shopping complex often, including my very last visit to a McDonald’s. I wonder why my view of this place would have been then, 4 years ago?
