The Marin Cheese Tax & Stale Bread Well here is the review you asked for as we walked out the door after being assessed a cheese tax on a second choice because you are out of key ingredients. It’s survived an owner passing away and a sister adapting it. I’m all for family run/owned and I’d love to see this one continue. The food is good, IF they have it and it’s not stale. Today no Buffalo Motz, no Oven roasted Turkey and no courtesy at all. My girlfriend and I ordered sandwiches and paid; while they were being made she was asked what cheese she wanted, so I also stated the cheese I’d like. After the Sando is made the other guy says you added cheese that’s another $ 1.37. His coworkers dispute this charge. He says again to me «dollar thirty-seven» then asks if I’d rather they unpackaged the sando and pick through it to remove the cheese. I handed the man my card and proclaimed«that’s fine $ 1.37 and I’ll choose not to come back». The other employee is now scanning the menu and says she doesn’t charge $ 1.37 for cheese; he ignores her and hands me my card back after charging it. As we leave one of them says go write a Unilocal review. Here it is with a picture of your menu, it’s not $ 1.37 to add cheese unless Marin county has a new cheese tax I’ve not heard of. Top it off, drive to China Camp to enjoy our meal on a bayside picnic table and my girlfriends sandy is made with stale bread.

I love the fresh food, which is the top priority, however it is slightly overpriced for the manner in which you receive your food(cafeteria style). The last two times I dined my sandwich came a good 10 minutes or more after I sat down with my soup. I don’t even care that it has bad décor, I just want my soup & sammy a little closer together so I can dip:-)

A unique way of ordering, you go up to the counter, you can get soup(I didn’t) and tell the waiter your order. After you pay you go to your table and wait for the food. The Serving portions are large but the prices are a little too pricey. I got the waffle with fruit and a side of hash browns. Came out to around $ 11-$ 12 for myself. Waffle was delicious but it came out a little too cold, same as the hash browns. Not a 5 star place to my standards.

Like the place. The owner is very welcoming and hearty. The team is young and hard working. Sometimes a smile is lost on that way, but that’s ok :-). I give them one anyway. Food is good, love the weekly changing soup menu. The hash browns are ok and there selection of cakes or muffins is great. Have to say everything is fresh and made here or you will see a sign if not(some of the pies are just baked here). I just adore the ranch dressing, since also every dressing is made here you can be sure it taste great. And this is one of my favorite dressings around. Light and fresh. Also the homemade bread is a huge hit. I normally do only whole grain bread but this soft juicy bread is just so delicious I can not resist. So finally why not five stars? Just at the end you have to pay, and you feel it in your account. But since it is all fresh and taste just good I have to go there to often :-). If there would be a rewards program for a loyal customer with nice benefits I will change it to five stars right away.

This place is not a five star place, it has solid slightly overpriced food that’s light on spices and salt. It’s ok for the price range but by the reviews I came here with expectations of something a lot better than what I got. They over cooked one of the eggs on my eggs Benedict which was at best underwhelming.

My wife has literally been going here for 40 years. We love it. It feels likes being with family … home cooked quality ingredients with some love thrown in. Everything on the menu is delicious, and over the years we’ve had almost everything. But our favorite is the Mulligatawny soup. My wife has even written two haikus about it: My soup board hopes soar Anxiety yields relief Mulligatawny Pure joy in a bowl Spoons full of golden goodness Mulligatawny We HEART Eduardos

Went for Easter Brunch and was treated really well. Great food at good prices. Home-made bread and soup was amazing. Friendly service and plenty of parking on the street outside. We’ll be back for dinner and will bring other friends with us to this hidden gem in San Rafael.

Decided to try this place out for lunch after reading a couple good reviews. Turns out the food is really not that great, especially for the prices. In addition the owner/manager seems extremely unprofessional… She is constantly screaming at her hardworking employees INFRONTOFCUSTOMERS. This place seems to have huge potential, may improve with better management. However as of right now, I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Amazing bread… cafeteria style service which is different. I guess. Food is fresh and tables are clean. Can’t complain

Well, I tried Eduardo’s today but for lunch. I was reluctant to go but went there because my co-worker wanted to go. And what a different experience it was! I found the food delicious! I had a completely opposite experience for breakfast. I guess I will try this place for lunch. Thanks!

Great selection of soups, sandwiches, salads and bakery items. It’s served cafeteria style and the cute décor kinda feels like going to grandma’s house. I definitely recommend the herb bread!

Came in for breakfast potatoes during a partial fast I recently participated in. The gentleman employee who helped me was perfectly friendly. The menu looked like it had potential. The potatoes were just ok. Bland. I ordered a side of salsa, and got sort of an awkward response when I asked if they had guac. No, was the answer, almost in a way where I felt silly for asking. I just thought… Salsa… Guac… #shrug. A woman behind the counter said she could sell me an avocado(she was the one who looked almost offended I asked for guacamole). I passed. Because of so many positive reviews, will definitely return for another meal and hopefully have the type of experience others have had. Side note: Parking is dreadful.

Wonderful staff. The décor is a little dated but it has that hallmark old school feel. Looks family run and a staple of San Rafael. Their breakfast items are fresh and delicious. I had their breakfast burrito special and was not disappointed. It’s always a recommendation for me if you’re in the area.

Got a BLT with avocado on the herb bread and a pickle. Sandwich was the best BLT I’ve ever had. They forgot the pickle. I’ll change this to a 5-star review if they give me my damn pickle. That’s just careless.

Great local joint, old style cafeteria line. Very good food, home made killer breads. Eduardo omelette to die for. My only critique would be that they could use a face lift. But I come here for the food not the style.

My favorite breakfast spot in Marin. If you’re following my reviews you’re probably learning that I tend not to venture more than 15 minutes from my house. This comes not from my disdain for road trips but more from the fact I have the best of everything within a short jaunt from my apartment. Eduardo’s has the freshest produce, meats and eggs around. Baked goods are generous in size, full of flavor and not overly salted or sweetened. Hot cocoa hits the spot. Service is warm and friendly. If you go, try the eggs benedict — you’ll be glad you did!

Great place, really quant and good taste, has lots of menu items and most are health conscious. There are a lot of salad options as well as soups, sandwiches and breakfast items(think Panera, with a full breakfast, and not all of the junk food style pastries). I like that the café style aesthetic of the food items being written on white boards. Even though there is usually a good sized line, the food is served fast. The breakfast is served everyday until 2pm! There are so many ways to mix and match meals here, that there is something for everyone. Soup and a half sandwich, salad and sandwich, salad and soup, etc. The portions are a good size and they even have the option of substituting fries for a fruit cup, with no extra charge(this is about as good as it gets, as most places only offer this on certain dishes and for an additional charge, if they allow it at all) ! Both times I have ordered an omelette, although I’m curious to try the chicken curry salad. You can see the food preps cutting the avocados fresh right in front of you, and all of the ingredients seem this fresh, as opposed to more assembly-line style sandwich shops: where the toppings are pre sliced and sitting out virtually all day. The Frida Kahlo paintings on the wall are a bit creepy, but it adds to the funkiness of this place. Not the best for larger groups and it seems that most people are having business lunches here.

Good soup, good salad! I visited last week while on jury duty and I loved the Mexican tortilla soup! They have lots to choose from soup-wise and I love having a selection. I also got the Caesar salad which was good but not great. My only beef with the place is the ridiculous price. Two of us got a small soup and salad and it was $ 24. That’s a lot for a place of this caliber. It’s a luncheonette and I think for the amount of food I got(no drinks, just water) the price was ridiculous. Changed my # of stars due to a communication I received from the restaurant that was quite nasty. This person was telling me how a small bowl of soup and a lettuce salad for $ 11 was a great deal! Yeah right!

Checked out this place while looking for a breakfast spot. And yes, I’m a fan. I grew up in a country town and this little quiet tucked away café/diner stashed just off the 101 just brings me right back to home. We came here only for breakfast so I’m not sure how the food is at other times, but breakfast was great and just what you’d expect. An overfilled plate of no-nonsense great food. My partner in crime got an omelette and I got scrambled eggs with spinach and mushrooms. Both comes with a side of hashbrown and fries and fruit or toast, we both had the hashbrowns and toast. I had a coffee while he had an OJ. The food was pretty good. Coffee was great, it was Colombian and not Forges or Starbucks which is a nice change. While the other patrons are mostly elderly, you know they’ve been coming here for years because its got that great homely feeling to it. Everyone seems to know everyone, which is what I love about this place. The staff was friendly and attentive. Everything is ordered at the counter and menus are on boards behind the counter. Which I feel adds to the memories of the country town café. Its not a 5 star table service restaurant and if you are looking to be pampered you are in the wrong place. Though if you are looking for homely food with a warm and inviting atmosphere, this is the place for you. As I said, I’m a fan. Definitely will be back.
