The decline has been slow and steady with an all time low this evening. Low enough to inspire me to not want to come back after 20+ years and two locations. Peace out. We are done with you, your TERRIBLE service and mediocre food.

This place used to have bigger portions, now they’re all about $$. They have lunch specials for about $ 10(drinks not included). Portions are small and you still end up leaving hungry. Will have to try that other place in San Rafael. The only reason I gave this place two stars is because the food is good.

Amazing yellow curry chicken ! Cooked the same way as they did in north gate for years ! I make a special trip for the meal. Good quality chicken, sauce and veggies.

My wife and I decided to try this place out because it’s very close to our house. We had pretty low expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised. While the location within Northgate One isn’t exactly picturesque, the inside of the restaurant is very clean and had a calming atmosphere. The hostess and our server were very friendly and attentive, and the food tasted great. We had a sort of vegetable spring roll as an appetizer, and then we had the green curry with chicken and pumpkin, which was really good. And of course, it doesn’t hurt that it’s right next door to Silberman’s Ice Cream. We will definitely go back.

I ordered Yellow curry and Green curry both mild. The green curry was spicy. So we threw it away. I called to tell the manger about it and he told me green curry is always spicy. Would have been nice to know when I ordered it and they agreed to make it «mild». They packaged the yellow curry in an entrée box instead of a to go container so it was a bizarre small portion. They up charge for rice on their curries. They charged 2 dollars for a tiny side of peanut sauce, that tasted strange. The«Pad Thai» was made with«Chow Fun» noodles not the noodles you typically get with«Pad Thai». Cost? a Crappy small order of spring rolls. two Curries one of which I threw away. one Crappy pad thai = $ 52.00 WHAT A JOKE. F– Never coming here again, and telling others in Terra Linda! How are these people in business???

I wanted to try something new near my job & found this restaurant a few steps away from Starbucks after getting my caffeine fix. I ordered the shrimp pad thai and their vegan fresh spring roll. The food was delish! Customer service, they were all very friendly and accommodating so of course I left a $ 10 tip on the tip jar since it was Christmas Eve.

My son and I went for lunch. We each ordered a version of red curry with chicken. His was better then my but if you like a little spice and a little spicey then the Panang red curry is your better option. I had the Tom Kha soup. Basically a kinda of sour coconut lemon grass chicken soup that is out of this world! My son has the yellow curry pork also and it was delish. The potatoes were so creamy soft. The service was all smiles and very polite. I cannot wait to taste the mango sticky rice I got to go! It is the fast food of the Thai food world but a better quality and not on the cheap side for being in a mall setting. I would def go again though!

Great local Thai place for that emergency«Crap! I haven’t planned dinner!» night. Note: I’ve only ever gotten take out from here. But I highly recommend getting the takeout. The one thing I love about their take out, is the care that they take to pack it. And I REALLY mean they pack it good, like almost crazy good that you have to break out the scissors to get to it good. There’s never any spillage when i get home with that food. It’s amazing! And the food is absolutely delicious, all the typical thai fare that you would think of. Green, Yellow, Red curries. Pad Thai, etc. Whats really notable is their Larb salad. We usually get the beef one and its delicious. Though take note those of you who can’t take the heat! Their dishes are a bit spicy even on the mild levels. The Larb doesn’t have spice levels, only hot and hotter. So if spicy is not your thing you might want to avoid that dish. Otherwise this is a great addition to the Terra Linda food scene. Much needed and glad its growing in diversity.

Was looking for a quick place to grab lunch near my work and found Calgang on Unilocal.I got excited looking at all the pics because the food looked yummy and the portions looked huge. I called my order in to-go and it was ready within 10min if that. I walked in and the restaurant was packed and it looked nice inside. I ordered the pad thai and although the portion was big, i was really disappointed. For being a staple thai dish, it lacked so much flavor. It seemed like they tried to compensate by adding way too many green onions. Don’t get me wrong I love scallions but it just wasn’t what I was expecting. I had really high hopes for this place because of my love for Thai food. I guess I’ve been spoiled to the Thai food I’ve been exposed to but this place was mediocre :(

Omg this is the best Thai food ever and not at all pricey. I just found out they used to be at the mall as fast food Thai. The new Calgang is at Northgate One has truly amazing food. I had perfectly seasoned Panang curry and vegetables with tofu. Perfect veganish choice.

My favorite and go to Thai in Marin. Friendly staff and great prices. I’ve tried almost every Thai restaurant in Marin and this is one of the best.

This is are first time so we went with our test foods: spring rolls, pad Thai and pa nang. We did not mention a heat level so we could see what they’d give us. The spring rolls were toward the too crispy side but the sauce was an amazing sweet chili with crushed peanut sauce. The 2 entrees were also full of flavor with a respectable balance of good hot spice. The pad Thai had a balanced sweet edge and the curry of the pa nang was well equipped with a nice punch of hot. A very solid experience. For a small town place though the big city feel of décor and close quarters of the bench seating tables was a bit of a surprise.

Cal Gang has been a longtime fixture for my family’s dining needs– way back when, this place was running out of the Northgate Mall! It was by far the best choice in the food court. Nowadays? The location may have changed to the smaller mall only a street away from Northgate, but the good food and reasonable prices have not changed. While the competition for customers is slightly different, Cal Gang can still be counted on to be a reliable, budget-friendly, and convenient dining option. You can still walk to the back of this restaurant and pick out your to-go entrees(like when this was a mall restaurant), or you can choose to eat in the nicer interior. The décor feels dark and sophisticated, but beware the acoustics– conversations can travel very, very far in the dining area, meaning you are either the loudest group or the group having its conversation drowned out! In short, Cal Gang will continue to be a good place for my family to get yummy Thai food in Terra Linda.

Nothing special; nothing spicy. I had lunch and chose the yellow curry(chicken) and tom kha kai soup(chicken and coconut milk soup), and got the benefit of of also tasting the satay(chicken skewer) and some kind of dumpling. The yellow curry was not bad, but was not vibrant. The soup was just plain bland and I did not eat it. The appetizers were okay. The service was also just okay. I won’t be back of my own volition, but would not refuse if a coworker wanted to go for there for lunch or something like that.

I came here twice and I told them many times before I ordered that I’m a vegetarian. Both times they fed me meat! And try to convince me it was vegetarian tofu. When it was obviously meat I returned the plate and they didn’t compensate anything. They can’t play with food allergies or strict diets. People can get sick. They can get in trouble. The food is bad anyway.

Edit: reading through other people’s reviews I found out that they used to be in the food court in the mall! This explains so much. This is Thai food like Panda Express is Chinese food. That’s what you’re getting here. Bottom line: worst thai food I’ve ever had. Strangely, it’s been better in the past, so maybe it’s new management. Nice décor, friendly staff, but the food is more like fast food than it is quality thai food. Let me explain… When you go to the back to order or pick up, you can see vast quantities of dishes already prepared and kept under hot lights and steam trays to keep it warm. Then they just scoop it out and send you on your way. It’s bad. So disappointing. Quite bland, too. Here are the dishes I’ve had most recently: — pad see ew: extremely bland, sauce was non-descript. Just wasn’t good. Hard to describe, but it was like it just didn’t have any soul. Like somebody made 10 pounds of it at once. Which they did. — panang curry: had about 1.5″ of bright orange oil on the top that I had to pour off. Don’t know what that’s all about. The curry itself was extremely bland. Like maybe they put in ¼ the amount of curry paste they should have. Honestly, worst curry I’ve ever had. It’s the only game in town, so thats how they survive. They also cater to people who probably don’t know what authentic thai tastes like. But it’s not good. At all. If you want good thai, check out Baan Thai in San Anselmo.

I’ll be back. It was good no complaints with service or the food… they have a to go area where u can pick what you like n go. I rather have mine made in the kitchen. I believe the egg rolls(fried) was already cooked it wasn’t hot at all kinda cold so Im sure it was sitting in the buffet area. I’ve had better thai but this was fine.

I just went with coworkers for lunch. Food: I got red curry chicken with brown rice. Chicken is over cooked and rubbery. And did not taste much flavor of coconut milk. My coworkers got pad thai and they say the dish is good. One person got the Kimoa noodle and the portion is very small compare to pad thai. Service and price: the menu is misleading, It says combo $ 9.5 with curry and rice. But when I got the bill I realized it’s $ 13.5, with surcharge of $ 2 for brown rice. So I paid $ 15.5 for over cooked chicken curry with dry rice. And they also messed up with the bill by double charging the drinks. And they really need to put the real price of curry combo on the menu. It’s very confusing. I am not coming back for sure.

Soooo this is basically the thai place at the mall… except that it is very pretty inside and not a food court. It feels like it makes sense to order off the menu because it’s actually a restaurant, but I usually still order from the combo. It’s because the combo is still a winning choice. So many delicious things it’s hard to choose just two… love love that green curry tofu. Love the pad pak veggies. Love the eggplant curry and the potato curry. A lot of people swear by the pad thai here, but I think that’s because it’s the pad thai they grew up with… I think there’s too much onion in the onion: noodle ratio. The tofu skewers with peanut sauce is a nice start to the meal. I have always enjoyed the service. A lot of restaurants have opened around Terra Linda in the last ten years or so, and this is one of the good ones.
