Shuffle board, pool, and drinks. What more do you need? Fun and clean dive bar that’s perfect for lowkey nights or to watch the game. Can be a little rough around the edges but isn’t that what you expect at a dive?

Just to say quickly, this little gem is a great neighborhood place to go and meet up with friends. They have a daily Happy Hour from 4 – 7 with drink prices that cannot compare to any other bar that I have ever been to and the beautiful bartenders are always friendly and seem like they are happy to see you. You can also watch your favorite football teams on Sunday while enjoying Happy Hour from 11 – 6; the Bloody Mary’s are incredible! All of this in an intimate setting which also hosts great music daily, a pool table, a dart board, and a little area in the back for those of you who enjoy a cigarette with their cocktail. Oh… almost forgot that this is one of the ONLY bars in San Mateo that opens at 6:00 a.m. so if you have a hankerin’ for an early mornin’ wake-up call. Once you go in you might find yourself staying all day long. Peace!

I’ve gone a couple of times during the day. It’s a new crowded but still good. I would recommend this place for anything!

Look for the green sign on the west side of El Camino Real in San Mateo right near 20th Ave. You’ll thank me. Under new ownership, so don’t judge this place by old reviews. It’s a «Cheers» type bar where you’ll be greeted with a smile from the staff and patrons even if they don’t know your name yet! Great drink prices, big selection, professional bartenders, clean, pool table, video games, shuffleboard, 7 independent TVs, darts, great music, karaōke, trivia nights. Comfortable for anything from an afterwork drink to a night of letting loose.

This place is really rocking . dan is doing the karaōke every Sunday now. He took over for Vince and he’s doing a damn good job. He’s got the crowd coming in and rocking out. He’s gotta real advanced system too. I love the bartender she’s great also.

My friends and I met at this bar on sunday 7−19−159:50pm’sh. I ordered two blue moon $ 4/each, reasonable. Afterwards, I ordered a Ballast Point«Grapefruit Sculpin» ipa $ 5.00, yeah it’s good handcrafted beer, similar to a lagunitas ipa. My friends and I sang a fair amount of songs, this bar have decent speakers/microphones. If it weren’t for my friend, I would never come here.

This place used to have fun themed nights and weekly games. There was an even balance of regulars. Now it feels over run with middle aged corporate douchebags who would rather spend less on drinks just to get away and watch sports games or talk about their jobs. I don’t see much of a younger crowd, though I don’t think that is their target clientele. It would be nice if they played more lively music and/or had more young people there. It would be a much better place if they got rid of the sports bar theme and made the drinks cheaper than dirt. I still like their beer selection though since the new ownership there is less variation of hand selected brews. Major gripe for me as a I really enjoyed their old selection more.

Dive bar, reasonably priced drinks. Don’t expect any special service or anything just come for beer and perhaps some pool, or even some shuffleboard! I swear by this bar. Parking is a fickle b@*#% but why would you drive anyways?

I came here on a Monday night with a group of friends, and the vibe that the bartender was throwing at us was rather unwelcoming. One would expect that a bartender would at least acknowledge your greeting but she had no communication skills and had a frown on her face since the moment we walked through the door. Thought this was a friendly place to relax and have a few beers. However, I don’t want to deal with moody bartenders so I won’t be back here again.

So i’m not sure how this place has gone unnoticed, but it’s definitely a relaxing place to catch the(insert sport here) game, catch up with your friends, and grab some cheap drinks. They have a solid selection of beers on tap and in the bottle, along with a nice liquor selection. Multiple TV’s, friendly bartenders, and great for any sports game or get together!

Pretty nice little place here. It feels dive-y, but doesn’t really feature any of the inconvenient nuances of most dives. The drinks were pretty cheap, the service prompt, and there was a pretty friendly atmosphere in general. I suspect that I was the only one that wasn’t a local, and there was a decent amount of banter between the obvious regulars that was nice to see. They had a couple sports games running, along with a dog show(???), but there are also some arcade games and things like pool/shuffleboard. They don’t serve any food at all here, which would be the icing on the cake for a 5-star review, but you still have the option of ordering from a nearby place and apparently they’ll run it over for you(didn’t try it though). I’d give a 4.5 if I could. I had nice visit.

Amazing selection of whiskey. They even have Yamazaki which is almost impossible to find. The prices are very reasonable and the bartenders are fun and attentive. Thanks for the great service Matt and Christina!

Started coming here a year ago and been loving it since. All the bartenders are awesome and every night that I go is typically a good night. They have trivia nights which can get pretty rowdy because of all the groups of people here. Weekends are generally pretty packed too and have been getting livelier and livelier every time I go. Giants games are nutso here! When the Giants won the 2014 World Series, this place was packed, lots of people going crazy, and it was a total celebration here. They got a good amount of beer on tap, great selection of alcohol, even with scotch, which is pretty rare from what I seen around the bars in this area. Oh by the way, great prices too.

LOVE this place! New owner as of last year! The place has cleaned up a lot. The bartenders are super nice and fun to talk to. This is pretty much a regulars bar(but what bar isn’t?). I’ve gone here many times by myself(cause that’s just what I do :)), and I always end up striking up an interesting conversation with one of the locals. My favorite time to come here is for sporting events. They often have free food out for people to enjoy while watching the game. I would especially recommend coming here for Sharks games. There are not many bars on the peninsula that have a big Sharks fan base. The owner Matt in a big sharks fan! Besides sports and people, they have a pool table, shuffle board, and dart board.(might have one of those golf machines too, but I don’t remember). If you’re looking for a place that’s not some fancy lounge shit, or not a big hole-in-the-wall, this is a great place. I wouldn’t call it a dive. It’s one up from a dive!

So stumbled into this«dive bar» although I wouldn’t call it a dive bar as it was much cleaner the most I have seen in the city of sf. Me and a friend were going to go to The Great Entertainer to shoot some pool but realize they didn’t serve any alcohol but beer so we recalled parking by this bar and decided to hop in! Seems like a «local» hang out but I found the bartender(black hair mohawk) and some randoms in there really friendly! Had some random locals spark up some conversation which was a great time killer and had a good time before we bounced out of there! Music played was great, some nice R&B, hiphop I heard a few times. Small quick smokers section in the back! Booze seemed fairly reasonably priced I guess! I would definitely pop back in if passing by San Mateo again!

I liked this place, til the young Black haired Bar-tender was really rude to me on wed the 11th. At first I thought she was just being a joker … Then she turned into a clear freaking passive aggressive jerk. We dropped about a hundred bucks and tipped about 30%. Still, We saw the jerk status while we played the awesome shuffle board game. My friend was in the restroom and she told me to leave and meet him outside, Stating that she doesn’t let guest inside after 1:55… But I don’t think the owner(s) would like her snatching like that.

I used to not like going here, but it seems things have changed for the better. Its really relaxed, nice bartenders, fun sports crowd and new beers being thrown into the rotation often. I happily drank my 21st amendment watermelon wheat with a big chunk of watermelon on the recent heatwave. Keep up the good work guys!

NEWOWNER — Just wanted to let you guys know a new owner had taken over the bar back in mid December so hope old reviews complaining about the old owner don’t stop you from checking this place out. He is a long time bartender in the San Mateo area and always had good experiences at bars he’s worked at. This is a great place to watch football on Sundays. You always know there will be a game you want to watch on with them having over 10 TVs. There’s also FREE food during the football games on Sunday which you never know what its going to be, homemade tamales, chili dogs, homemade mufalatas, pulled pork, pizza, sandwiches, etc. The owner said he will probably be offering stuff for some baseball as well! They actually play hockey on TV too which is hard to get some bars to turn on for you, but its nice knowing there’s a place I can watch the sharks game. Beers — great selection so far and they plan on adding to it. Denoggonizer, back in black, a bunch of craft beers like dales pale ale, sneak attack, old chub, etc. If your a beer fan your bound to find something you like. They also have great prices on them too around $ 4. I know people were hating on the Michigan stuff, but why? Let’s be honest if you pick any bay area team your bound to offend someone. If you made it a 49ers or giants bar, A’s and Raider fans don’t want to go. Who honestly hates Michigan? Its kind of cool seeing all the Big 10 helmets on the wall even though I’m not a fan of college football.

Small, divey, hole-in-the-wall pub along El Camino with one key asset: it’s a good place to watch the Bestest College Football Team Ever on fall Saturdays. Lots of Michigan memorabilia everywhere, and a good place to congregate with other rabid Wolverines all across the age spectrum. Hail to the Victors Valiant!

Never checked out this place when we lived in FC. Instead, recently checked this place out thanks to my friend. Expecting a dirty dive but was surprised to find a very open, spacious and clear neighborhood bar. 10 – 12 drafts including at least 1 cider — all just $ 4/pint! The corner with sofa is a great spot to hang out with friends.
