Yuppie Bar

Went today, the waitress was reserved when we first came in and would have given her one star but warmed up. I liked her today (Sunday). Still not impressed with bar. Get a dive (love dive bars) but this needs help!

The have one person to serve, bartend and run the bar. AND that person VACUMES THE BAR AND CLEANS THE RESTROOMS FOR $ 10. per hour. This is a despicable establishment. Find another bar!

a lil divey bar located in the outskirts of downtown san mateo on the walk from ramen dojo back into the main downtown. cheap drinks and a unique crowd. fun place to get a couple drinks and feel good. tv pool tables air hockey fun staff. overall a decent place. oh and jello shots! great low key place thats not too loud or crowded. full bar and beers on tap. enough to keep me coming every now and then if im not feeling up for fancy.

Sting drinks !!! Cash bar. Pool table and pinball machines. Sweet jukebox with millions of tunes and loud system. Did I mention «Strong drinks»

Really cool dive bar I discovered in San Mateo. There are lot of TV’s and nice thing they play game sound which always makes fun to watch. There is a pool table, air hockey and darts for some competition. The bartenders are very friendly and people are welcoming. I would definitely be back here.

I like dive bars, yet this one the bathroom was filthy and had no stock of any bathroom supplies. Not even soap. No type of food either.

Love this place! Whether you’re here to watch football on Sunday’s or tryina have some fun on the weekend evenings, Yuppie’s is always so chill which is what I love most. I’ve been coming here for years and the bartenders are cool, Jell-​O shots are hitters too! :) Sometimes there will be food out for guests to help themselves, back Patio is cool too. I recommend this place to check out, Ilene makes a mean Bloody Mary that you gotta try!

If you’re looking for a sketchy place with the lights ON that looks like a meeting room, this is your bar. If you want anything other than a beer or a shot to drink, I suggest you go somewhere else.
Went here last night with some friends… I saw it had 4 stars on Unilocal so I was optimistic. I was wrong :(
I asked for 2 beers and a cocktail. She didn’t know how to make either of the drinks I asked for despite there being a full bar, I think she was either drunk or just wasn’t laying attention. I had to ask for the second beer 4 times! And then she said they didn’t have anymore glasses for the beer –_​– She found one eventually. Hopefully it was clean…
The one star is for: the price for all three drinks was $ 10

If only I can give no stars… why? I’ve been coming to this bar for years and tonight I had the worst service ever!!! The bartender can’t multitask to save her life! I’ll never come back to this bar again… Good luck to this bar!

Yippie for Yuppie Bar!
I’m not gonna lie, but at first when I glanced in this bar I thought it was pretty sketch. The interior of the bar didn’t seem to really amaze me and there weren’t a lot of people so I didn’t think it was crackin’ much. But my coworkers and I decided to crash here for the night after eating dinner at Espetus which is right across the street. Be warned! This place is CASH ONLY!
There were a lot of older folks here on a Friday night when we arrived around 9pm-​ish. I knew I was going to have fun regardless because of the people I was with. Who would have known that this place ended up to be so much fun. We basically left when they were closing which is 2am. (They’re open Monday-​Sunday from 10am-2am…DAMN.)
I think what I liked most about this bar/​dive bar was that they had darts to throw in the back and an air hockey table. I didn’t like the Juke Box idea that much just because you would have to pay to play a song everytime. Good thing there was a crap load of people around the juke box area so they paid for a song everytime… hehe. Yuppies even had an outdoor area in the back where you can smoke, drink, and just chill for some fresh air if you’re too drunk to function ;)
Surprisingly, I ended up enjoying myself at Yuppies. Prices on drinks here are decent. Pretty much like every other bar. They do sell jello shots which is pretty cool.
Overall, props to Yuppies for having games in the back. My drunkeness became useful and I used most of my energy trying to beat my coworkers at air hockey: P Good night indeed after feasting at Espetus!

My wife and I wanted to find a chill bar near home to grab a drink and read some good reviews. We walked in to the bar tonight and the bartender (women short hair with a hat on) smoking her vapor at the end of the bar looked up at us as we sat down and ignored us. One of the regulars came back from
the restroom served him within 30 seconds. After she served him went back sat her ass down and continued her conversation. 1. She lost 2 new customers 2. A bartender smoking at the end of the bar and worried about her own conversation than working and getting paid what she should be doing is a shame.

dive central yo, but that’s how we like it girl. they gotta stop playing the death metal and you wonder why it’s usually a sausage party in here, play some dope beats for the ladies. price is cool, slim pickings in mateo so this one is on da list

Great dive bar in San Mateo. For some reason this reminds me of what Moe’s Tavern might be like in the Simpsons.
They say they don’t have happy hour because every hour is happy hour — which was true.
They have games and an outdoor patio that does allow dogs.
Good pours too! Reccomended.

We were looking for a cool bar in downtown san mateo and the pickings were pretty slim. So we ended at this dive. The were blasting death metal at inaudibly loud levels so I could barely maintain a conversation with my friends but other people in the bar were grooving to the death metal. The drink were decently priced. I definitely like the game room but it was a long wait in there to get a table to open up so we didn’t get a chance to play. Ok in a pinch when the options are few.

Not a big fan of this place, pretty small bar with a pool table, a air hockey table and some darts! It’s really small and didn’t get a good vibe but hey I’m not a drinker. Maybe other people might like this place!

Nice bar name!
A little, unassuming bar, with a small, hard-​to-​notice entrance, this little place outside of the main downtown area is pretty divey and oddly comfortable. There are TVs everywhere, the lighting is not dark at all, and the folks there are just there to chill and have a beer – nothing crazy like dancing or partying etc. There are even air hockey and table games at the back.
Overall, a pretty chill spot for a quiet, relaxing cold one after a day of work.

TL;DR — Not my crowd but good stuff on tap and pretty empty?
Ok, we wanted happy hour but I guess this was the wrong place. 6 for a mug is ok I guess. BE WARNED. CASH ONLY!!!
Moving on. It was 4pm and everyone there was… in the older crowd. Ya know? Haha. But everyone was chill and things were easy going. I’d go back if we are in the area.

Cheap drinks, cheap pool, free books and Jell-​O shots, this bar had a little bit of everything to make it a unique and interesting bar.
The separate gaming room with a pool table and air hockey is a big plus.
Good place to kill time while waiting for ramen down the street. just be careful you don’t have too much fun and miss your table reservation, like we did.

The many faces of Yuppie… How may I count them?
Friday nights of pure mayhem with flying jello shots and fireballs? Definitely the best time to rage with the younger crowd.
Saturday mornings at 9 am catching college football with the locals? The only place to go if you don’t have cable!
Saturday evenings for a chill few rounds of pool and air hockey? You betcha.
Any day of the week that you’re waiting on Ramen Dojo across the street? To die for.
