I really had high hopes after meeting Dr. A for the first time. He has a very professional appearance, seemed kind… I came in with a list of issues so he would know I was serious about improving my situation. Had expensive injections(which I later found I could have spent a lot less money for the same result) and the 2nd appointment he basically said«do you really want a diagnosis?» and dismissed my problem as a mood disorder. Well, yes — chronic pain can cause lack of sleep, doesn’t take a medical degree to know that. As it turned out, a few years later and unfortunately for me learned of a herniated disk. While I didn’t necessarily want to learn of a bad diagnosis, since I know about the problem I am now doing better because I know how to manage the pain, and just as important prevent it from advancing more rapidly. Lesson learned. Get a 2nd opinion. Actually, that was my 2nd opinion! My mistake for telling him that, so he could agree with the other doc, collect my money and send me on my way. It was the radiology tech who pointed out an abnormality to me in my xray, when I showed Dr. A he dismissed it. I should have insisted on an MRI then, but I didn’t want to be one of «those» patients. While I did appreciate the suggestion of doing yoga and a «healthy balanced diet», it did not address my main concern.
