Great location(sat outside for dinner) and great attentive service(from hostess to wait/bus staff). I had the cesar with a dressing that had depth and garlic(seem made at the resto) and a lasagna(which was too much and heavy). my husband had the really super yummy linguine(if memory serves me right) with scallop/shrimp in vodka cream sauce. I am definitely ordering this dish next time.

We just had the best Italian food at this charming lovely restaurant! The three of us shared(and devoured) the seasonal roasted brussel sprouts with goat cheese for an appetizer. For entrees, one of us had the seasonal salmon stuffed raviolis(almost licked the plate when finished), the other ordered linguini with shrimp, scallops & other seafood in a spicy red sauce(very yummy), and I had the orecchiette with steak & pork ragu(absolutely delicious). The staff was very friendly, and they have an amazing happy hour ~ but it was the food that will have us coming back.

Me and the wife love this place. Whenever it’s date night this is our go to. We always get great service and the food is always amazing. I’ve had fine dining Italian food in NYC, Boston, NOLA, & all over the nation. This is still my favorite place.

We ate here last night for the 3 courses for $ 30 menu for the month of January and I’m so happy we picked this restaurant! We made reservations for 4 people. The restaurant looked busy and we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. I had the octopus & arugula salad, butternut squash ravioli and cioppino. My husband had the brussel sprouts, pancetta and meatloaf. And our kids shared a kids spaghetti and meatballs. They were ALL tasty and delicious! Oh and we had the crème brûlée for dessert which was PERFECT! The portions were plentiful too! There was none of that small plates, tapas nonsense! The server was very quick, polite and attentive. I highly recommend this place! All this deliciousness for 4 people for $ 80! Definitely worth your time and money! I should’ve had my wedding reception here instead of that crappy ass Madonna Inn!

If I were to rate my overall experience, I would just say«ehh…» Our friend was raving about this place so I was excited to try it out. The hostess was a bit snappy with us. I couldn’t tell if she was annoyed with us or was trying to be funny? She came off pretty rude. Anyway the atmosphere is pretty nice. Considering the prices are fairly cheap, you still get the romantic atmosphere. The garlic spread they serve with the bread is superb! Probably the best part of the meal. The rest of the food was«ok». I wasn’t personally pleased with anything I ordered or sampled. It was pretty bland, lacking in flavor. The rest of the servers were polite and attentive. They have their Italian pronunciation down perfectly, which I appreciate because it sets the«authentic vibe». Overall I would say it was pretty«blah».

Came here for my Mom’s birthday, first time for me at this restaurant and it was AMAZING. There wasn’t a single thing I would change. The food is incredible… absolutely fantastic. My mom got the shrimp and scallops over pasta with a vodka sauce and it was one of the best things I’ve ever had. The bread and garlic parmesan dip they serve upon sitting is very well done, perfectly blended. We even ended up staying for dessert and got the crème brûlée which was also perfect. The custard was cooked perfectly and velvety smooth. Portion sizes were perfect as well and the prices were very reasonable, I would’ve definitely paid a lot more for the quality of the meal I got. They also make their own rustic Italian bread. We now have a MASSIVE loaf to enjoy at home. Very well done, we will definitely be returning and spreading the word.

Great service! Good wine paring and food presented well. Noise was a little above average but it was very busy. Recommend reservations.

Waiting now 30 minutes plus in bar area to see a waitstaff… happy hour drinks were weak. Wait staff were VERY slow, even earlier tonight when the bar was not busy. This will reflect in tip, which will be 10% or less…

Our waiter, Ryan, was the epitome of a good server! He was attentive when needed but allowed us to enjoy our evening. Even though we only ordered from the happy hour and appetizer menu, he didn’t make us feel rushed or pressured and we cannot wait to come back and try the full menu.

Sad to say our server(Lara) was horrible! She didn’t have helpful knowledge of wines or the specials. She forgot to bring our 1st bottle of wine… then she forgot to bring our 2nd bottle… After reminding her she finally brought it we were finishing up our entrees! On the up side, the busser was attentive and our past experiences were enjoyable. It’s just disappointing that a bad server ruined our dinning experience!

We walked by this place last year and were lucky enough to get a table. We went back this year and loved it again. The food is delicious and the prices are great. The atmosphere is romantic and it’s also in a great location. I definitely recommend.

We had a great dinner here this past Monday. We sat at the bar and our bartender was very nice. The bread is so delicious with their garlic dip! So good! I have to just take a minute and talk about the bread pudding our waiter suggested… oh my goodness it was rich with flavor and just hit all the right notes. I will have dreams about their bread pudding. Don’t get me wrong our pasta and Brussels sprouts were very savory and delicious but the bread pudding took the«cake».

We love this place! My son is a student at Cal Poly and every time we come and visit we eat dinner here! Great location! Great menu! Large selection of entries. We always start with the Bruschetta. Their Gnocchi Di Spinaci is delicious! My husband always orders the Pappardelle Alla Ragu. Awesome outside seating! Make a reservation as it can get crowded. Service is always great too!

Likely, the worst of the Giuseppe chain of local restaurants. If you are a visitor, it is definitely worth a drive to their Express Store down in Pismo. After eyeing the overpriced menu, I opted for two«take-out» slices of what I thought was fairly fresh Pizza, from their connected «take-out» section. I then asked if I could eat them in the sit-down «fancy» part of this place. They said sure & then completely ignored me as I suffered thru really bad, tasteless, old, stale Pizza… that had to be sitting there forever. Simply awful! Being there an off hour, I think I was the only customer in the place, and wow, I was ignored like I was a Leper. The manager was either busy tactlessly yakking loudly to the other staff, or was on his cell. Nobody, even offer a glass of water, so I walk a few steps to the take out section to get a cup. None of their stores having amazing service, unless you are a friend of someone who works at these places. The Express one in Pismo also went a bit downhill the past year by refusing to give you a free cup of tap water(at any price), & you either have to buy something from the refrigerator or eat the Pizza without… but at least the Pizza makes up for that… but not at this location.

The next time I’m in San Luis Obispo I’ll definitely be giving this place another visit. I’ve always thought Italian food was overrated. This restaurant chefs really pay attention to detail. The food is really really amazing. The dip is dangerous, the butternut squash ravioli with the cream sauce this delicious, and the angel hair pasta with basil and tomato sauce was wonderful as well.

Midway through our meal at Palazzo Giuseppe my son, a 20 year old financially dependent student, revealed that he’s taken his girlfriend here on at least two occasions. «It’s important to celebrate» he tells me, slurping up a toothsome noodle from his meaty $ 19 order of Braciole. Aren’t students supposed to subsist on Top Ramen? How did it happen that I’m funding romantic evenings of expensive dinners so the two of them can«celebrate»? His remark triggered in me competing feelings: First there was a sudden understanding of how it is that he’s been burning through money so quickly. The second feeling was a bit of pride: The kid has good taste. Hearing that we’d dined at Palazzo Giuseppe my brother, who lives in SLO, felt compelled to tell me that their Pismo Beach location is the better of the two. I shrugged my shoulders; the SLO location was good enough. Dinner began with a shared platter of Fried Calamari($ 13) so large that it should’ve caused my three person party to reconsider their entrée orders. The tasty platter came not only with squid but also fried squash, a fairly substantial number of fried shrimp, and a couple of bowls of dipping sauce. Another starter, appearing gratis, was not great bread accompanied by a wonderfully garlic-cheese-oil dipping sauce. My son dove into this sauce proclaiming his affection for it(and his familiarity with it) and when he’d finished the bowl another appeared. The stale tasting bread almost didn’t matter as anything drenched in this sauce was going to be out-shined. The texture and wide ribbon shape of Pappardelle enchants me. Pappardelle all Ragu($ 16) was a hearty, meaty bowl of very good pasta which went well with the house Chianti($ 7/glass) and left me totally sated. I don’t often order pasta but this was pasta worth ordering. Palazzo Giuseppe is quite good for SLO and the prices are high but not exorbitantly so. If you’re a student however, spending money that you didn’t earn yourself, the prices are ridiculous; you should be eating Top Ramen. (Note: If you’re at all chilled don’t settle for the semi-sheltered outdoor dining space. I did and was cold throughout my dinner. Hold out for indoor seating).

Giuseppe’s is great. I will now tell you why. I’ve eaten there several times — food and service has always been very good. This last time we went, however, truly proved how much Giuseppe’s cares about their customers. We arrived at 8:40PM on a Monday night with a party of 5. The waiter, Ryan, took our drink order and was very through with the specials they had that evening. We all opted to order pizzas, a caprese salad, and a round of beers. The salad came first, it was unusual because they had stacked it, but very nicely presented and very delicious. Pizzas came out 15 minutes later, and they were all so good! We were having such a great time eating and drinking that it was 9:40 before we knew it! They had closed at 9! They hadn’t hurried us along at all, and were so nice even though it was late! They split the check for us, and even gave us 2 bags of fresh leftover bread as we were leaving! tl;dr: Giuseppe’s has great food and goes above and beyond to be great to their guests!

Second time dining at this location was somewhat disappointing. I think I will stick with the pizzas and pastas if I return. The best thing about the restaurant in my opinion is the lovely outside seating in a little alleyway across from a boutique. Our waitress, Jessica, whom we had both visits, is great too. She is pleasant and intuitive without being overly eager. The food is just so so and is overpriced for what you get. I was not impressed with the brunch hash and I was very disappointed with my fish sandwich, which was so salty it needed to be sent back. The shrimp appetizer was the highlight of our meal but there was only five little shrimp for $ 15, a little steep. I still like the ambience of this spot but I think I will stick with the pizzas and drinks in the future.

Pizza by the slice are huge, but average in taste. Good outdoor seating and convenient express section to the restaurant.
