If you’re in San Luis Obispo and like Moroccan food, do not miss this one! We’ve been there several times(we live in San Diego County), and have never been disappointed. If we lived closer, we’d probably eat there several times a week. The Pear Salad is outstanding, as is the cold sampler. This time I had the Shrimp Curry and it was wonderful, but don’t expect a Thai or Indian curry. Different but REALLY good! The desserts are not as sweet as typical American fare, but I actually prefer that. Expect large portions, and come hungry. HIGHLY recommended! I know, I know, I sound like an advertisement(sorry), but I have no financial interest in the business. Enjoy. :-)

This place is a nice looking restaurant. That is the only positive thing that I can say. Ordered: 1) beef and potatoes tagine 2) tomatoes and beef with oregano 3) shrimp curry 4) cold sampler. The food was terrible. The server asked how everything was and we stated that the olives were too salty for us to eat. The server got defensive and rudely stated that the olives are salty because they came straight from the Rhine. She also had to add that we haven’t had Moroccan olives before, which supposedly are more salty, to belittle our judgment. Dang lady, we didn’t even think to mention anything to you about the food, but you asked for it and apparently you cannot fathom the idea that we found the food to be less than pleasant. As for the tomatoes and beef order, it had a strong scent of lamb. Therefore, we mentioned it to the server and they swore that it was beef. We strongly disagree and left it at that. Overall, the food was meh, and we do not ever plan to return. I would have rated this restaurant 2 stars had it not been for the lousy experience from the servers. Maybe it was a bad night, but this was on a Saturday evening at 5pm. In my opinion, a time like this is one to impress your customers. A big fail in my world. In the past, I’ve been to Tagine in Beverly Hills, and I had an outstanding food experience. This was not my first time eating Moroccan food. A tip for the restaurant since you had to know what we thought about the food: if your food is not good, maybe it was a bad day. Do not blame the unfulfilling taste of the food on our opinion. Apologize that you did not meet our expectations today and leave it at that.

We loved Oasis, it’s a charming restaurant with excellent food run by the very nice husband and wife team. Charlene the wife is the hostess up front, and also their baker, although sadly we were too full to try any baked good this time, the husband is the chef, and he serves excellent food. We loved the sampler appetizers, especially the Garlic Carrots, and we loved chicken kabob skewers, everything was perfect and delicious, we shared everything, and we loved everything. We’ll be back on our next trip, we highly recommend Oasis, we’ll see you on our next trip to SLO.

Great service. Pretty poor food. Chicken kabobs were oddly chewy and springy and not cooked very well. Calamari was soft and not crispy and the breading was falling off and was served with very little sauce. Not a fan of the bread, mine was burnt. The veggies and rice were good. Maybe the vegetarian dishes are the way to go here.

We were just passing through SLO and only had time for a snack, so we tried the Makouda and Cold Sampler Platter which were both delicious! The owner is really nice and service couldn’t have been better. Nice mediterranean décor to the place, a great ambience. Definitely recommend Oasis, and can’t wait to come back and try more!

Loved the flavor, and the chicken kabob complete with the skewers. The garlic sauce with it was great. The spicy veggie curry was excellent.

The ambience is really amazing. Loved it. The owner is very hospitable and helpful with his menu. The bastillo is quite good. All the flavors that I had hoped for, and easy to eat with your hands. :-) The khobz is excellent. I had the lamb shank with couscous. My lady had the shrimp curry. Both were phenomenal. I must come back to explore the rest of their menu!

I had the spicy lamb, my wife had a gyro sandwich plate. We switched because she liked mine more and I liked hers more. No exaggeration, it was honestly the best gyro sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. And I’m half Lebanese, so I’ve had my share. Definitely recommend!

We love the food. The plates are huge, delicious. Really traditional. Amazing and personalize attention. Morrocan owners, amazing atmosphere. We just love the place, they were quickly, the prices are good, isn’t expensive at all. We just love it . If u have the opportunity to be immerse in this culture u should do it.

I love this place! The staff is so friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. Make sure you grab some Moroccan tea and the appetizer sampler. The lamb kabob and chicken tffal are yummy too. The lamb is cooked to perfection, barely gamey, and the rice and veggies on the side are delicious. The couscous is a must have too. Definitely try this place out if you’re in SLO!

Rounding up. Some reviews have commented on the wait time — they have a sign in the front now to warn you about the wait time and the woman warned us when we arrived that the kitchen was backed up and would take 45−60min for the food to arrive. It ended up being under an hour. This is a family run place and the husband is the chef. The wife was very friendly although she did not warn us that every entrée is enormous. You could definitely share most of the entrees with another person. I had the osso bucco tagine, which was pretty salty but I really enjoyed the rich sauce, especially with the fresh bread they brought for the table. The beef itself was a bit chewier than expected but the sauce made up for it and I loved the chickpeas. The beef and potato tagine was good, but the small bite I tried tasted like normal beef stew, and not as sour as described. The spicy veggie curry was also a large portion, but it was more like curry flavored stewed veggies than an actual curry. Still good but not quite what we were expecting. I thought the veggie couscous was less flavorful than the other dishes but my friend was very happy with it.

This place is horrible. Husband and wife team the husband was on phone 30 minutes while we waited for him to put food on grill. It is true what another review said they like to disappear in back and rarely make appearances. Our cold appetizer platter had Fruit flies attacking it. Grossed us out so much we ordered main dishes to go. The curry bean soup garbanzo beans were not cooked all the way. The hummus was some of the worse ever. They had no cucumbers for the taziki sauce. WHORUNSOUTOFCUCUMBERSFORTHERETAZIKISAUCE! The bathroom had crap stains in the bowl and was very dirty. There morocan tea was good but made with pure sugar they don’t use honey cause they don’t want to offend vegans but load it up with white processed sugars! They had no juice options for my kid! Soda, milk, water Service was poor didn’t ask us about refills on drinks or take dirty plates. Don’t be fooled by the pics or reviews cause that is what we went off of. This place has poor sanitation, service, and will disappoint. If this is best Mediterranean in central coast than this area has never had good Mediterranean food. Make sure you scroll through more of the reviews beyond first three pages you will find more negatives. It really surprised me how many happy reviews there was but now I think there is a coverup of so many bad ones. Something wrong here!

This restaurant has the best Mediterranean food you can possibly get on the central coast. I highly recommend their chicken kebab plate, the Moroccan tea and their smoothies. The owners are extremely welcoming as well. Whether you live in the area or are looking for a place to enjoy great food in San Luis Obispo, you will not regret coming here.

Had lunch at the Oasis and ordered the Gyro with lamb. The home made Moroccan pita bread was outstanding and really made the sandwich different. We then ordered the Moroccan bread pudding for dessert. It blew us away! The pudding was baked with toasted almonds and cinnamon served as a small loaf with mint ice cream. The best I’ve ever had. We’re going back tomorrow for more! The service was great and the atmosphere was as expected… Mediterranean. Nice place.
